RoCD Chapter 62

Arc 4: Domineering CEO dotes on her wife (8)

Having always been spoiled by Bai Qu, Youyou rarely felt wronged.

Although that scoundrel Su Ling also bullied her frequently, that was different.

She poked Fu Shu’s waist with a slender, pale finger. Just thinking about what happened then made Youyou feel terribly aggrieved.

It was the first time she had ever been humiliated like that. If Xixi hadn’t been there to comfort her, she definitely would have cried.

Fu Shu: “…”

“My mother?”

Her eyes flashed. Fu Shu pressed her lips into a dangerous line, but her voice was gentle as she spoke to Youyou. “Tell me exactly what happened. Did she threaten you?”

She had kept her identity hidden when she started dating Youyou. Logically, no one at that ordinary school should have known who she was.

And because of Youyou’s soft and easily bullied nature, she hadn’t introduced Youyou to her social circle back then. After all, her own wings weren’t fully fledged yet; she wouldn’t have been able to protect Youyou completely.

So, while she was carefully nurturing and maintaining this relationship, never telling a soul, how did her family—who usually trusted her and never investigated her private life—find out she was dating Youyou and go so far as to threaten her?

Gently patting Youyou’s back, Fu Shu let her vent, her own expression turning cold as a suspicion began to form in her mind.

“Hmph, this is what happened.”

Youyou couldn’t remember the specific scene clearly anymore, but after listening, Fu Shu understood the gist of it. Just as wealthy families always prioritized matching social standing, the Fu family was no exception. What’s more, Youyou was a girl—unable to bear children, unable to produce an heir.

Fu Shu could roughly imagine the humiliation Youyou must have suffered.

Because she was just too delicate, too fragile to withstand any storm.

She unconsciously tightened her embrace, pressing a kiss into Youyou’s hair, her voice impossibly gentle.

“That must have been so hard for you. It will never happen again.”

This girl was someone she would never let go of. No matter who it was, she would not let them tear them apart.

“I-It wasn’t hard at all! Bai Qu came really quickly.”

Tilting her head up to stare at Fu Shu with bright eyes, Youyou pouted. “Fu Shu, I said bad things about your mom.”

Although she was used to tattling to Bai Qu whenever Su Ling bullied her, Fu Shu was different. She didn’t know if Fu Shu would accept her complaints. After all, Fu Shu wasn’t her brother; they weren’t related by blood. There was no reason for Fu Shu to be unconditionally good to her.

“Youyou.”

The young woman was silly, but at times, she could be incredibly sharp and serious.

A smile touched Fu Shu’s crimson lips. She met Youyou’s gaze, her eyes full of mirth as she said with the utmost seriousness, “In front of me, you can do whatever you want.”

She couldn’t be happier that the girl was finally opening up to her, because it meant she was starting to see her as one of her own.

“Youyou, you are mine, and I am yours. We are the closest people in the entire world, closer than anyone—including…”

…those so-called family members.

Not wanting the girl to know how cold-blooded she could be, Fu Shu replaced the rest of her words with a kiss, her eyes filled with passion.

The two had grown accustomed to kissing recently, so Youyou wasn’t opposed to it. Her teeth gently clamped down on Fu Shu’s tongue, and she began to grind back and forth as if playing a game, her gaze clear and completely devoid of lust.

Fu Shu let her do as she pleased, not stopping her. In her mind, she meticulously went over the important information again. Her gaze gradually deepened.

Su Rui, is it?

Several days passed in a flash, and summer vacation arrived.

Youyou closed the bookstore and spent her days at home as a complete freeloader, bored out of her mind.

At the same time, Fu Shu’s business affairs had piled up to a terrifying degree. Although she occasionally made time for video conferences and handled the most critical issues via computer, phone, assistant, and fax, after two months, Fu Shu had to appear in person to reassure everyone.

Finding an excuse, Fu Shu said a temporary goodbye to Youyou and left Yancheng, planning to deal with everything as quickly as possible.

Just as a kite pulls at its string as it soars, the higher it flies, the tighter the string becomes. When Fu Shu fell in love with Youyou, she had already tasted what it was like to have her heart bound and pulled.

She didn’t want to leave Youyou, not even for a moment.

Hearing that Fu Shu had returned, Muzi Qi and the others were ecstatic. They arranged to have a welcome-back dinner for Fu Shu that evening at their usual spot.

Since they were all friends who had grown up together, Fu Shu thought about it and agreed. After all, there were some suspicions she wanted to verify in person, and she was very interested in the “reborn” Su Rui.

Harboring dangerous and secret intentions, Fu Shu finished her meeting, handled a few urgent matters, and then drove to the club.

By the time she stepped into the private room, the sky was dark and everyone had already arrived.

“Boss, you’re finally back!”

The moment he saw Fu Shu, Muzi Qi’s voice was full of resentment. Seriously, he really didn’t understand what was so great about that woman named Qian Li. After all, in their position, what kind of talented and beautiful women couldn’t they meet or have fun with?

“Boss.” “Boss.” “Miss Fu.” “Fu Shu…”

Besides Fu Shu, there were five men and three women in the room, all of whom she knew.

With a faint nod, Fu Shu walked to her exclusive spot: the sofa in the corner.

Wherever Fu Shu was, the atmosphere was never overly boisterous. Even her old friends were still reserved in her presence.

Among the five men and three women, one gaze was particularly fervent. Fu Shu raised an eyebrow imperceptibly, picked up the glass of red wine from the coffee table, and began to sip it slowly.

Under the constantly shifting, multicolored lights, Fu Shu, dressed in a black suit, looked exceptionally noble and alluring. A flash of infatuation crossed Su Rui’s eyes, and she swallowed almost invisibly. She felt that Fu Shu seemed to have changed since her return.

If the old Fu Shu was cold and powerful, her aura lofty and unstoppable, then the current Fu Shu seemed to have been touched by the mortal realm, as if she had tasted its worldly fire.

A flutter of excitement in her heart was followed by a sudden tightness. Su Rui’s strange, obsessive expression made Muzi Qi’s lip twitch.

Picking up his glass, Muzi Qi sat down next to Fu Shu and muttered in a low voice, “I’m telling you, Boss, why did you ask me to investigate Su Rui? Did you already know she has improper intentions toward you? And have you been with Qian Li this whole time? Seriously, choosing a pretty face over your friends… that really hurts!”

A cold glance from Fu Shu successfully shut him up. As she watched that other gaze grow hotter and more brazen, a suffocating, hostile energy suddenly rose from the depths of her heart and rapidly spread throughout the room.

Snap.

Muzi Qi’s heart seized, to say nothing of the others.

Fu Shu was notoriously a monster in high society. With her near-demonic intelligence, she had reached a height unattainable by others at a young age. This was especially true of her sharp and vast, forbidding aura, which was something even many old masters and cunning foxes couldn’t withstand. It was exceptionally terrifying.

In an instant, the room fell deathly silent. No one knew what they had done to set Fu Shu off. Even the slightly flushed Su Rui, caught in this strange, low-pressure atmosphere, snapped out of her fantasies and became timid and fearful.

“Know your place. Understand?”

Every word was utterly cold.

Fu Shu was facing Muzi Qi, but her eyes stabbed directly toward Su Rui. She hated that kind of offensive, scrutinizing gaze. If the person didn’t learn her lesson, then she shouldn’t be blamed for using her methods to knock her back to whatever “original model” she came from in her so-called past life.
