RoCD Chapter 78

Arc 5: The Vengeful Ghost — The Bone Beauty (11)

Daunted by the original owner’s wishes, Youyou said to Xixi, her face crestfallen.

‘What do I do, Xixi? I can’t fulfil them.’

Although she really wanted to prove she wasn’t a little good-for-nothing, she truly couldn’t fulfill the original Bai Youyou’s wishes, ahhh!

‘I only know how to draw, build with blocks, solve jigsaw puzzles, and stack dominoes. Even though Bai Qu and Su Ling are very powerful, I really don’t know how to do anything useful.’

‘The original body was a white-collar worker, but I’ve never had a job before! I don’t know how to read documents or use a computer for office work. Even if I try, I can’t learn it.’

‘I’m not even as good as the original body. How am I supposed to help her fulfill those wishes?’

She was well aware of how slow she was. Those things that seemed exceptionally simple to Bai Qu and Su Ling were like an incomprehensible book from the heavens in her eyes.

It wasn’t that she hadn’t tried. But in the end, even Bai Qu had stopped teaching her.

To say nothing of that mean Su Ling who was always making fun of her.

The pressure instantly flooded her heart. Youyou explained herself to the system with utmost seriousness, but she had forgotten—as if the system wouldn’t already know exactly what kind of person she was.

Wiping the non-existent sweat from its forehead, Xixi said to its exceptionally dejected host: [It’s okay, host. If the host can’t do it herself, then we’ll just find someone who can! …There are sooo many powerful people in this world. As long as the host finds such a person and befriends them, won’t the mission be completed?]

Although it didn’t know what on earth this world was all about, in Xixi’s view, completing the mission was not impossible.

‘Huh? We can do that?’

Her eyes suddenly lit up. Youyou looked to Xixi for confirmation, amazed.

[Mhm, these four wishes are actually all interconnected. As long as the host can befriend someone even more powerful—at least more powerful than the female lead Shui Sisi and the ring spirit—and get their help, then all the problems will be solved with ease.]

Xixi’s words were very straightforward, and Youyou understood.

Just as Bai Qu was very powerful, and she wouldn’t feel flustered if he were here, as long as her partner was just as powerful as Bai Qu, then she wouldn’t have to be afraid of anything.

Although making friends was a tricky matter, Youyou was still full of drive. She shot up from the bed, waving her small fists, and promised the system: ‘I will find someone even more powerful than Shui Sisi and the supervillain ring spirit.’

Xixi: …

[Well then, you can do it, host. Xixi believes that the host will definitely succeed.]

‘Mhm, mhm.’

Having a goal, Youyou was immediately full of vitality.

This apartment was a gift that Father Bai and Mother Bai had specially bought for her when the original body said she wanted to start working. It was super close to the Bai Corporation’s branch office.

The security and privacy were also top-notch.

Although the original body was just playing around at the Bai Corporation and didn’t have to do anything, Father Bai, Mother Bai, and the Bai family’s two older brothers were still very happy for her.

She opened the closet and spent a long time picking and choosing. Only then did Youyou decide what she wanted to wear.

It couldn’t be helped. The original body’s clothes were all the sexy, figure-hugging, and skin-baring type, which Youyou didn’t really like.

It should be said that her attire growing up had always been the proper and conservative kind. It wasn’t just her; Bai Qu’s and Su Ling’s clothes were also very normal.

She remembered one time when Su Ling came out of Bai Qu’s room wearing only pants. She happened to see his bare upper body, and afterward, Su Ling was beaten black and blue by Bai Qu. He didn’t leave the house for over half a month, just holed up at home all day.

It made her unbearably frustrated.

Because Su Ling always took the opportunity to bully her when Bai Qu wasn’t around, knocking over the dominoes she had painstakingly almost finished setting up.

Although Su Ling would apologize afterward and Bai Qu would get revenge for her, Su Ling was just too thick-skinned and tough. No matter how Bai Qu beat him, he just wouldn’t change.

Pouting involuntarily, Youyou looked in the mirror, her mouth slightly agape. Although she already knew from the memory fragments that the original body had dyed her waist-length hair into big, red waves, seeing it with her own eyes still left Youyou stunned.

As someone who was a sucker for a pretty face—a super big sucker for a pretty face—Youyou felt that the original body, even without a speck of makeup, was far more beautiful than when she was caked in heavy foundation and wearing seductive smoky-eye makeup. Her gaze lingered on the bottles and jars on the dressing table for a few seconds before she decisively picked up a comb and neatened her messy hair slightly.

As for things like makeup, Youyou really didn’t know how to apply it.

Bai Qu had never taught her, either.

Dressed in a bright red sleeveless dress with her long hair worn down and a bag slung across her body, Youyou locked the apartment door. Following her memory, she went to a clean breakfast shop and ordered a steamer of buns, egg drop soup, and fruit tea.

Narrowing her eyes slightly, she savored the deliciousness of the food. Taking big bites of the buns, Youyou was so happy she could almost cry.

Mm mm mm, this is so wonderful, so delicious!

Only when her little belly was stretched round and full did Youyou stop eating. Holding a large cup of fruit tea, she paid the bill and strolled towards the company.

The original body’s position was an assistant—moreover, the assistant to the president of this branch company, her second older brother. So, “going to work” was just for show; the original body had a lot of free time.

The Bai Corporation branch occupied ten floors of a skyscraper, from the 60th to the 69th. Youyou took the elevator to the sixty-ninth floor.

Just as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw the original body’s older brother.

“Second Brother, Second Brother.”

Tossing the finished fruit tea cup into the trash bin, she ran toward Bai Youjun. At that moment, Youyou’s eyes were only on the original body’s brother. As for anyone else, they were magnificently ignored by her.

Shooting an apologetic look at the indifferent, suit-clad woman beside him, Bai Youjun opened his arms to catch the red-dressed girl who was crashing into him, gently steadying her. “What’s wrong? Calling me ‘Second Brother’ so affectionately. What do you need this time?”

Knowing that this girl only ever acted so well-behaved when she wanted something from him, Bai Youjun looked at his younger sister teasingly, but his gaze wavered slightly when he saw her clean, makeup-free face.

“Second Brother, Second Brother, I have something to ask you.”

Not noticing Bai Youjun’s strange reaction, nor paying any mind to the current setting, Youyou stared straight at Bai Youjun, her expression incredibly eager, as if she wanted to know the answer right here, right now.

“Erm.”

Unable to refuse his sister like this, Bai Youjun nodded and said gently, “Alright, let’s go to my office to talk.”

Smiling as he stroked his sister’s hair, Bai Youjun tilted his head slightly and asked, “Can the meeting be postponed for ten minutes?”

He knew this person had always had a strict sense of time and that her word was law, so in his heart, he had already given up hope on this collaboration.

In fact, it wasn’t just Bai Youjun; all the suit-wearing elites present thought the same thing. But to their surprise, the woman actually nodded.

“Many thanks.”

Hiding the surprise in his eyes, Bai Youjun accompanied Youyou to his office. He then leaned against the desk, arms crossed, and gazed at his younger sister with a smile playing on his lips.

“Go on, our family’s little princess. What exactly is it you wanted to ask?”

“Second Brother, do you know Mo Qingwu?”

“Do you know anyone who’s even more powerful than her? The kind of person who’s so powerful they could acquire her company and she wouldn’t be able to take it back, someone who could crush her with just the lift of a finger. The more, the better. I need them.”

“If you don’t know Mo Qingwu, Second Brother, can you please help me look her up? I want to know what that supervillain is like so I can be prepared in advance.”

Youyou, chattering on incessantly, didn’t notice that her second brother’s face had long since frozen, the corner of his mouth even twitching faintly.

Suddenly, Bai Youjun clamped a hand over Youyou’s mouth and shot a hostile look toward the doorway.

There, a woman was leaning silently against the door, and it was unclear how much she had heard.
