Chapter 118: The Cold, Crazy School Idol x The Spoiled, Delicate Little Brat 26
Mu Jianian stood up and strode over.
He saw the person leaning against the doorframe’s eyes light up like a cheerful little bird, bravely flying toward him.
Jiang Luoluo threw himself into Mu Jianian’s arms.
Mu Jianian picked him up and returned to his seat.
Two small hands wrapped around his neck, and Jiang Luoluo nestled his head against Mu Jianian’s chest, listening to his heartbeat.
“When did Bao Bao wake up?”
The person in his arms replied softly, “Just now…”
He rubbed his small head against Mu Jianian’s shoulder, his voice soft and coquettish. “When I woke up, my husband wasn’t there, and Bao Bao was scared…”
Mu Jianian stroked his cheek. “There are so many people in the villa. Why would you be scared?”
“It’s different,” Jiang Luoluo said, lifting his head with a serious expression. “I don’t know them. What if they try to kidnap me?”
“I only know you… Husband…”
The person in his arms spoke softly, his voice filled with dependence. “Husband… I only have you…”
Mu Jianian soothed him with a kiss on the forehead. “Husband knows. Next time, I won’t leave our Bao Bao alone in the room again.”
Jiang Luoluo obediently agreed, continuing to snuggle in his arms and watch him work.
“Oh, by the way, someone named Li Chuan called for you earlier. Should I have Bao Bao call him back?”
Mu Jianian opened his call history. Jiang Luoluo read the top entry’s note: “Li Chuan.”
“He was a classmate of ours back then. You were quite close to him.”
Mu Jianian explained concisely, “He probably just wants to check in on how you’ve been doing lately.”
Jiang Luoluo shook his head, his face completely blank as he stared at the name. He buried his head in Mu Jianian’s chest.
A muffled voice came from within the embrace, “No…”
Two small hands wrapped around Mu Jianian’s waist in protest. “I don’t even remember him. I don’t know what to say…”
“I’m a little scared…”
Mu Jianian held him tighter, whispering soothingly, “I’m here, Bao Bao. You don’t need to be afraid.”
Before he could finish comforting him, the phone on the desk lit up, followed by a buzzing vibration.
Li Chuan’s name flashed across the screen.
Mu Jianian glanced at the person nestled in his arms, who was clearly refusing to communicate. He casually tapped the speakerphone button.
Li Chuan’s furious voice filled the room: “Mu Jianian! Where’s Luo Luo? Don’t tell me he’s still asleep!”
“You perverted scum! What did you do to him!”
Jiang Luoluo, who had been burying his face in Mu Jianian’s chest and eavesdropping, suddenly turned around, his face flushed with a milky-white fury.
“Don’t you dare talk about my husband like that!”
The person on the other end hesitated for a moment. “Luo Luo?”
Jiang Luoluo clenched his tiny fists. “If you say another bad word about my husband, I won’t be polite!”
Li Chuan was about to curse Mu Jianian again when he suddenly realized something.
Luo Luo must be protecting him, not wanting him to clash with Mu Jianian!
Li Chuan was deeply moved. “Luo Luo, you don’t need to worry about me. Mu Jianian can’t do anything to me. By the way, how are you? Are you okay?”
Jiang Luoluo frowned, feeling this person was acting strangely.
He leaned closer to the receiver. “Li Chuan, you’re so weird! I don’t want to talk to you!”
Then, with a flick of his finger, he slammed the phone down.
On the other end, Li Chuan was nearly moved to tears.
Their Luo Luo had grown up!
Though only a few words, it proved he was safe and also protected him!
Their Luo Luo was truly too considerate!!!
This little incident was soon forgotten by Jiang Luoluo.
Mu Jianian had explained that Li Chuan had secretly admired him in school, which was why he had such a bad impression of Mu Jianian and didn’t want them together.
Jiang Luoluo obediently raised his tiny hand and swore he would never be with another man, only loving his husband.
Mu Jianian smiled, taking his small hand and kissing his palm.
“Mm, my Bao Bao is truly too good.”
Night fell.
A gentle breeze rustled outside, carrying the chill of autumn. Yellow leaves carpeted the ground, with a few occasionally landing on the windowsill of the villa’s second floor.
The bedroom was bathed in lamplight. The figure curled under the covers sobbed uncontrollably, wiping away tears again and again as he questioned Mu Jianian:
“You said we were happy before. Was that all a lie?”
His eyes were red and swollen, making him look like a small, wronged rabbit. His tear-filled eyes, shimmering with unshed tears, stared at Mu Jianian’s shoulder, where scratch marks from his nails were visible.
He pouted, and tears quickly welled up again. “But I’m so uncomfortable…”
Mu Jianian reached out to wipe away his tears, but Jiang Luoluo flinched away.
Sobbing, Jiang Luoluo used the back of his hand to wipe his tears, his voice filled with grievance. “It hurts so much!”
“I’m dying from the pain!”
As he cried, he shoved the pillow and blanket into Mu Jianian’s arms. “Luo Luo doesn’t want you to stay anymore… Go sleep in the study…”
Mu Jianian was pushed out of the bedroom, a mixture of embarrassment flashing across his impeccably handsome face.
He ran into a passing maid, and the sight of the husband being banished from his own bedroom left Mu Jianian mortified beyond words.
Alone, he carried the pillow and blanket to the study.
Actually, he could have gone to the guest room, but he worried that his Bao Bao might regret it later and be scared if he couldn’t find him.
In the study, Mu Jianian placed the pillow on the sofa and sighed heavily.
*Was his technique really that bad?*
During the day, Jiang Luoluo had been so affectionate. Yet halfway through the night, Luo Luo would rather sleep alone than let him stay?
He paced the study twice before making a call.
After several rings, the other person finally answered slowly, their voice still a bit hoarse.
“President Mu, calling at midnight? Do you think everyone else has nothing better to do, just like you?”
“Oh~ Could it be that your little darling has remembered everything?” The other person chuckled maliciously.
Mu Jianian’s stern profile tilted slightly. “You’re disappointed.”
“Oh~ Not remembering is perfect, isn’t it?”
“On a night like this, with the wind howling and a light drizzle outside, wouldn’t it be perfect to cuddle your little darling? Why are you calling me in the middle of the night?”
Mu Jianian sighed inwardly, knowing he was about to be ridiculed.
“He kicked me out.”
The other person’s voice became clearer, as if they had moved the phone closer.
“Why did he kick you out?”
Mu Jianian answered honestly, “He said it hurt and he was uncomfortable.”
The other person burst out laughing, then said, as if to someone else, “Stop messing around.”
Mu Jianian coughed. “What should I do?”
He was genuinely puzzled. “I thought I did great! I didn’t stop for even half a minute—”
“Wait, wait, wait!”
The person on the other end of the phone cut him off. “What did you just say??”
Mu Jianian repeated, “I said I did great! I didn’t stop for even half a minute, from eight-thirty last night until now—”
Mu Jianian glanced at the time on his phone. “It’s twelve seventeen.”
There was a long silence on the other end, followed by muffled laughter.
“President Mu, did no one ever enlighten you?”
“Do you think this is an assembly line? Mindless, mechanical activity??”
“Hahahaha—”
The person on the other end mercilessly mocked Mu Jianian, then sent over several compressed files.
“President Mu, so you don’t know everything after all!”
“You have so much to learn about this…”
“It’s a shame for your delicate little beauty. He must be suffering terribly, hahahahaha…”
Mu Jianian hung up the phone with a dark expression.
His sharp eyebrows furrowed slightly as he opened the files on his computer.
He was genuinely curious: Where could he have gone wrong?
Ten minutes later, Mu Jianian stared at the screen with a strange expression.
His slender, well-defined fingers held a Marlboro pen, flipping open the black cover of a business notebook.
His handsome, refined face was reflected in the screen, his dark eyes intently focused on the plot unfolding before him. He occasionally lowered his head to jot down notes.
The next morning, Mu Jianian finally achieved a perfect morning, thanks to his combined theory and practice.
His Bao Bao wrapped both arms around him, burying his face in Mu Jianian’s chest and cooing, “Hubby~”
His cheeks were flushed crimson.
Mother Jiang called to say Father Jiang’s health had improved significantly and he was now recuperating at home. Since she had some free time, she wanted to cook him some delicious meals.
On the way back to the Jiang Family villa, Jiang Luoluo touched his chest, feeling inexplicably nervous.
Mu Jianian held his hand, his phoenix eyes crinkling with a smile. “It’s okay. Ugly daughters-in-law have to meet their in-laws eventually. If your parents don’t like me, I’ll just prove myself to them slowly.”
Jiang Luoluo nodded, his small hand tightly gripping Mu Jianian’s fingers.
He was a little tense. Anyone who didn’t know better would think he was about to meet Mu Jianian’s parents.
Though he had lost his memories, everything about the Jiang Family still felt familiar. Jiang Luoluo walked through the courtyard as if he had never left.
Father Jiang was sipping tea in the living room while Mother Jiang was instructing the housekeeper to sort through the wild vegetables they had dug up from the countryside.
When they entered, Mother Jiang turned around. “Luo Luo’s back! I had someone dig up some shepherd’s purse, and I was just about to—”
Seeing the man beside Jiang Luoluo, Mother Jiang hesitated, her beautiful eyes flickering. “Teacher Mu?”
Hearing the familiar address, Father Jiang lowered his newspaper, his expression shifting.
*Mu Jianian?*
Mu Jianian wore a polite smile as he handed the gift box of expensive health supplements to the housekeeper.
“Hello, Uncle and Aunt.”
Mother Jiang’s lips twitched, and she glanced at Father Jiang.
Father Jiang remained expressionless, gesturing toward the sofa without offering a warm welcome.
“President Mu, please sit.”
Given Mu Jianian’s current status and position, he deserved the title “President Mu” from Father Jiang. However, this was also a silent rejection and distancing from the Jiang family’s parents.
“Luo Luo, go help your mother pick wild vegetables. Your father has some matters to discuss with President Mu.”
Jiang Luoluo glanced at Mu Jianian with concern.
Mu Jianian ruffled his hair. “Go on, Bao Bao.”
At the sound of that term of endearment, Mother Jiang’s eyelids twitched. She pulled Jiang Luoluo away, leading him to his room.
From the window, Mother Jiang watched the two men sipping tea in the living room, a worried frown creasing her brow.
“Luo Luo, tell me, when did you two start dating?”
Jiang Luoluo let out a small “Ah…” to stall for time, feeling guilty.
He couldn’t even remember.
Mother Jiang stroked his hair. “Luo Luo, do you know he’s engaged?”
