Chapter 88: o( ̄︶ ̄)o PART 1
“Hey, don’t misunderstand, we’re here to discuss something with you.”
The two people at the front of the group of ten were a man and a woman. Wu Feiyang whispered, “It might be them.”
“Cut the crap. What are you doing here?” Liu Zhongyuan asked.
“Duan Shuangshuang and Song Wennan, right?” Liu Zhongyuan asked again.
Both of them were stunned. Their names were correct, but what was the problem?
Liu Zhongyuan continued, “Well, we ran into Lin Lou when we were out on a mission, and he told us everything. Now, I’ll ask you two one question: Are you willing to seize this opportunity?”
Duan Shuangshuang and Song Wennan’s eyes widened. Could this kind of thing be discussed so openly? What if that bastard Zhou Lie killed their families before they could even respond? They were both furious and immediately prepared to refute.
But Liu Zhongyuan smiled and patted Wu Feiyang on the shoulder, whispering, “You talk to them and stall for some time.”
After saying that, Liu Zhongyuan actually transformed into his beast form right in front of them. A giant snake appeared before them. Indeed, only at close range could they truly appreciate how shocking it was.
Duan Shuangshuang and Song Wennan looked at the giant snake in despair. Could they even fight against something like that?
However, they soon realized that the giant snake only coiled around them, encircling them without actually attacking. This calmed them down slightly. This was, after all, inside a secure base. If it really attacked, the military wouldn’t be able to explain it. In that case, they wouldn’t be in danger for the time being.
Wu Feiyang spoke, “Have you considered switching sides? Joining the military is much better than staying with Zhou Lie. The military is much more organized than him, and you can live with your families and have absolute freedom.”
Didn’t Duan Shuangshuang and Song Wennan want that? Of course they did, but now wasn’t the time to talk about it. The more they talked about it here, the greater the probability that Zhou Lie would harm their families. So now they could only express their loyalty to Zhou Lie as quickly as possible; otherwise, what awaited them would definitely be their corpses.
Wu Feiyang smiled and, before they could speak, continued, “You don’t actually have to worry now. If he really dared to touch your families, you two would definitely rebel on the spot and turn against him. He definitely wouldn’t want to see that happen.”
Duan Shuangshuang and Song Wennan froze. That’s right, although it was dangerous now, Zhou Lie definitely wouldn’t attack them. In that case, this environment seemed to be a good place to talk. After all, they had no other opportunities to talk at other times. Zhou Lie didn’t trust them at all and always controlled their families to coerce them.
“Captain Wu, what should we do now? My younger brother and Wennan’s daughter are in his hands, and we don’t even know where they live. We can only video call a few times a week or meet somewhere else. The children are young and can’t explain where they live,” Duan Shuangshuang said, wiping away tears subtly. “We really have no choice. If we could, we wouldn’t want to follow someone like Zhou Lie. He’s disgusting, vile. If there’s a chance, we want to tear him to pieces!”
Just as Song Wennan was about to speak, his phone rang. He subconsciously took it out and looked at Duan Shuangshuang in a panic, “Shuangshuang, it’s that bastard Zhou Lie!”
The people who had come with them had transformed into their beast forms and fled when Liu Zhongyuan transformed into the giant snake. They were all ordinary beast tamers! Now Zhou Lie had probably received the news.
Wu Feiyang said nonchalantly, “It’s alright, Mr. Song, just answer it. I just happen to want to have a good chat with him.”
Song Wennan answered the call and put it on speaker.
The surroundings were quiet. The soldiers Wu Feiyang had brought stood in a circle outside the giant snake’s body, their guns held tightly. If anyone dared to approach, a bullet would fly over immediately.
Zhou Lie’s voice came from the phone, sounding a little hoarse but stern and incredulous, “Where are you now? With the soldiers?”
Song Wennan replied, “Shuangshuang and I are together. A deputy captain from the military is here and wants to talk to us.”
Zhou Lie probably didn’t expect him to say that. Perhaps he had become accustomed to Song Wennan’s obedience over the past few months, so he was surprised by Song Wennan’s sudden assertiveness.
Zhou Lie asked, “So? Are you two planning to join them now?”
Song Wennan took a deep breath, “Of course, we won’t decide so quickly. Such a big matter requires time to consider. After all, the situation can change very quickly…”
While he was speaking, Wu Feiyang typed a message on his phone for them to see. Both of them were excited when they saw it, but they suppressed their excitement, realizing the call was on speakerphone.
Zhou Lie said, “You two have become much bolder now. I wonder if you’ve become cold-blooded. Have you forgotten the most important people?”
Song Wennan’s lips twitched, and his face contorted. Zhou Lie knew how to hit their weak spots. If it weren’t for what Wu Feiyang had just told them… they would definitely have compromised now.
A person like Zhou Lie really didn’t deserve to be in a position of power. Such a ruler was truly disgusting. If Modu was under his control, it would eventually be doomed. Even if he made a mistake, he wouldn’t think it was his fault but would instead think that others were framing him.
Song Wennan replied, “What do you mean by cold-blooded? We’ve always valued them, but it’s no use if only we value them. We also need to have the power to value them, don’t you think, General Zhou?”
Before Zhou Lie could say anything, Song Wennan quickly interrupted him, “Oh right, Captain Wu here wants to talk to you. I’ll give him the phone.”
Wu Feiyang didn’t take the phone. He stood straight, looking at the phone with cold eyes, and said, “Hello, Zhou Lie. It’s been a while.”
Zhou Lie’s face twitched in anger. “Wu Feiyang? Who do you think you are, addressing me by my name directly? I’m a general, my rank is above yours!”
Wu Feiyang retorted, “Haha… at a time like this, you still think you’re a general? That’s quite amusing. At this point, you still cling to your status.”
“Don’t forget, the entire Modu is now under Captain Gao’s control. Zhou Lie, do you think you can still be on equal footing with Captain Gao?”
Besides being very protective of his people, Zhou Lie cared a lot about face. Now Wu Feiyang was humiliating him in front of so many people, practically rubbing his face in the dirt.
“Good job, Wu Feiyang. You’re really something. It seems that after following that bastard Gao Siyang for a while and achieving a little success, your confidence has inflated, hasn’t it?”
Wu Feiyang responded, “I wouldn’t do that. It’s you, Zhou Lie. Don’t you think you’ve become increasingly pathetic lately? Actually holding children hostage to threaten others into obeying you? In the past, that was a crime. You’re qualified to be in jail.”
Zhou Lie didn’t want to hear his nonsense. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m taking good care of the families of my subordinates. Give the phone back to Song Wennan!”
He emphasized the “taking good care”. Wu Feiyang narrowed his eyes and sent a message on his phone, but he didn’t receive a reply immediately. That must mean Qin Jiulin hadn’t succeeded yet.
He looked up at the sky. Qi Yue was flying very high; from the ground, he could only see a small dot. He wondered if Qi Yue could see clearly from up there.
Qin Jiulin was currently leading people, lurking near the house Zhou Lie had rented. They had actually infiltrated the area more than ten minutes before Wu Feiyang and Liu Zhongyuan took people to confront Zhou Lie directly.
However, they had searched many places but hadn’t found any family members or children. They were well hidden. If they weren’t here, where could they be?
Zhou Lie definitely wouldn’t be at ease leaving the hostages far away, so it made sense that they were being held nearby. But they hadn’t found them after searching many places…
Qin Jiulin muttered, “Could they be underground?”
As soon as he said that, it hit him. “That’s right, these villas must have basements or underground garages. They must be locked up down there. If that’s the case, then it’ll be easy to find them.”
He had felt something was strange about one of the villas earlier, but because he hadn’t found any sign of the children, he had withdrawn. But now it seemed that there was definitely a problem there.
When they returned to the villa, Qin Jiulin saw Liu Zhongyuan’s giant snake form in the distance, in a relatively open area near the entrance of the villa complex.
It seemed they had to hurry. If they weren’t fast enough, once Zhou Lie reacted, it would be impossible to take so many people away quietly.
If they could directly kill Zhou Lie’s people, of course, there wouldn’t be a problem. He was powerful and could kill no matter how many came, but the key was that they couldn’t kill. They were currently inside the base; they couldn’t kill each other within the base.
Qin Jiulin ordered, “Let’s go. Throw the sleeping gas grenades inside!”
The sleeping gas grenades worked similarly to smoke grenades, but they released not only smoke but also sleep-inducing gas.
The smoke was very faint, like a thin mist. Everyone in the villa felt strange and became vigilant, taking out their phones. Unfortunately, shortly after they took out their phones, before they could make a call, they collapsed to the ground one by one.
Qin Jiulin asked, “How long will it take for the sleeping gas to wear off?”
