RRMGEH Chapter 7

The Strange Man Stayed With Him All the Time

Gu Changheng was tall, but when Zhou Li held him in his arms, he felt unexpectedly thin and light, so Zhou Li barely needed any effort to carry him.

Using the key, Zhou Li opened the door and gently placed Gu Changheng on the sofa before heading inside to change the sheets.

He had changed the sheets just three days ago.

But since Gu Changheng would be sleeping here tonight, he decided to replace them with a cleaner set.

While changing the sheets, Zhou Li suddenly felt someone wrap their arms tightly around his waist from behind. His body became as hard as stone, and he dared not move.

Gu Changheng’s head rested on Zhou Li’s back for a long time.

Zhou Li felt his body grow numb from the tension.

After an unknown amount of time, he heard the even breathing from the person behind him.

Realizing Gu Changheng had fallen asleep against him, he carefully turned around for fear of waking him up, laid Gu Changheng on the bed, tucked him in and turned off the light.

This night, Zhou Li felt as if the whole world was softly weeping along with Gu Changheng’s broken heart…

Zhou Li stood by the bed for a long time, watching the peaceful figure of Gu Changheng. Once he was sure he was sound asleep, he left the dark bedroom and went to take a shower in the bathroom.

Since he rarely had guests stay overnight, there were no extra blankets. After showering, Zhou Li rummaged through his closet and found a winter coat. He took it back to the sofa, draped it over himself, curled up, and fell asleep.

The next morning, Gu Changheng woke up with a splitting headache and his eyes felt sore and dry.

Memories of last night replayed in his mind. He sat motionless on the bed with an expressionless face. It could have been ten minutes or half an hour.

The bedroom door was pushed open, and a man with a rather handsome appearance stood in the door and said, “Young Master Gu, would you like to get up for breakfast?”

The voice was quite unfamiliar. Gu Changheng looked up and recognized him as the security guard from the five-star hotel. He couldn’t recall his name.

Images from last night flooded back to him.

Perhaps due to his bad mood, Gu Changheng’s face was filled with the grief and anger of being betrayed, but that grief and anger quickly faded, leaving him enveloped in shadow.

Zhou Li knew that he should say something comforting on the day after a breakup or join Gu Changheng in scolding the scumbag, but he struggled to find the right words. After a long time, he managed to say, “Young Master Gu, being hungry can make your mood worse.”

Gu Changheng looked down and said, “Thank you.” His voice was hoarse and it hurt a little when he spoke. After a long pause, he added, “Sorry for the trouble yesterday.”

“No need to thank me.”

Gu Changheng stayed at Zhou Li’s home.

He had nowhere else to go and didn’t want to be anywhere.

This breakup hit Gu Changheng hard, leaving him questioning love and human nature.

Most of the time, he sat in a daze and didn’t speak a word all day.

Zhou Li was really worried about him and took a few days off from work from his superiors and stayed at home to protect Gu Changheng from a distance, fearing he would do something extreme.

Gu Changheng rarely left the house, and Zhou Li didn’t dare to leave the house either. For meals, he would call the supermarket and ask them to deliver vegetables, meat, and fruits to his home.

Every day, Zhou Li tried different ways to prepare delicious meals for Gu Changheng.

But each time, Gu Changheng would only take a few bites before putting down his chopsticks and stopping eating.

The memories of that period after his breakup were chaotic for Gu Changheng. For about a month, he stayed in the home of this “strange man”.

The “strange man” didn’t talk much, but he was extremely firm. He stayed with him all the time without any complaints.
