In a dark, damp lair, a frail body lay limply on a musty blanket. It had been nearly a week since Amane, suddenly stricken with a high fever, had been unable to get out of bed.

Carrying his feverish body on my back, I made my way to Deep Downtown to see an underground doctor. After examining him, he shook his head and said, “It’s likely an infection. The kid was frail to begin with. Trying to survive in the slums was too much for him…”

Refusing to give up, I headed straight to the city’s general hospital. But the moment they realised we were orphans from the slums, we were turned away at the gate. Maybe if we had been able to pay for the treatment, they would have seen him. But there was no way orphans like us, barely surviving day by day, could have come up with that kind of money.

―――Amane…

I knelt beside my friend, who was hovering between life and death. I tightly clasped his thin, small hand. Not long ago, his hand had been burning hot. But now it was cold and clammy. His face was ashen and his lips had turned purple. Panic washed over me as I felt his hand growing colder and colder. I gripped his icy hand even tighter.

―――Don’t die! You can’t die! Amane!

Whether my desperate plea reached him or not, his darkened eyelids twitched. He weakly opened his eyes. But the life had already drained from them. They couldn’t focus. His gaze wandered vacantly toward the sky. And then, as if welling up, a single tear slid down his temple.

―――Amane! Stay with me! Amane!

The life of my best friend, who had been like a brother to me for years, was flickering out before my eyes. And all I could do was call out his name. The frustration and helplessness were overwhelming. I’d faced plenty of unfairness in life before. Each time it filled me with bitterness. But never had I felt my own powerlessness as keenly as I did in this moment. Overcome with grief and regret, the tears flowed ceaselessly.

―――Please… Don’t leave me…

With my face a mess of tears, I begged. Amane’s lips quivered. His voice, when it came, was so faint I could barely hear it. Desperate to catch his last words, I brought my ear close to his lips.

―――Live……

I barely managed to catch his weak, fragmented voice.

―――Live… for… me… too…

That desperate plea, uttered with the last of his strength, became his final words.

*Translator’s Note: There are 4 volumes in this series (Vol 1. Resonance Heat: Omegaverse, Vol. 2. Resonance Lust: Omegaverse, Vol. 3. Resonance Passion: Omegaverse Jou [Part 1], and Vol. 4. Resonance Passion: Omegaverse Ge [Part 2]). The first and second volumes revolve around Honjou Amane and Kariya Kouki/Shutou Kouki while the third and fourth volume will centre around a new pairing. We’re now on the second volume! This volume consists of an introduction, a prologue and 9 chapters (397 pages). This is the longest volume compared to the rest. Phew! Each chapter was around 20-40+ pages. Hence, I have to cut them into several pieces to be posted here. So, the numbering for my chapter will be different from the original novel. I don’t wanna divide my chapters into parts as well so we’ll just go slowly as chapter 1, 2, 3 until we reach whichever number of chapters we’ll get to (around 70+ chapters probably?). I’ve divided it so that each chapter that I’m posting on the site will probably be around 1K to 1.2K words (except for Mature chapters which will be longer). However, I will mark at the beginning of each chapter with ‘Resonance 1, Part 1’ and so on (since the author wrote it as ‘Resonance’ instead of ‘Chapter’) so that if you get your hands on the novel, you can still find which is which. There are also illustrations from the novel which I will scan and post on the site. With that being said, Ahoy! Let us sail on this ship, sailors! -K
