Kourogi’s head jerked back and forth violently, almost like he was headbanging.

“I-I’ll tell you! Please, stop being so rough!”

Half-crying, Kourogi shouted. Kouki released the arm twisted behind his back. Kourogi rubbed his shoulder with a pained expression before finally succumbing to Kouki’s silent pressure and giving the name of a complex in the heart of Midtown’s entertainment district.

“The club’s on the top floor of that building. But it’s not listed in any public directory. The only way to access it is through a private elevator. That elevator only works with a membership card.”

“The card?”

Kouki’s low voice prompted Kourogi to pull out his wallet from his jacket pocket and extract a single black card.

“This is it.”

The card, black with a holographic emblem shimmering on its surface, was wordlessly taken by Kouki. As if relieved that the interrogation was finally over, Kourogi’s tense expression eased slightly.

“When I snuck out during a call from my office, they were playing poker in the VIP lounge. Their usual trick is to rig the game, forcing their victims into massive losses to trap them. About a year ago, they started complaining that simple escort services weren’t thrilling enough, so they started using rape drugs. So by now… he’s probably been drugged too…”

Before Kourogi could finish his rambling, Kouki grabbed his arm again. He spun him around and shoved him roughly against the door of the walk-in closet with a loud bang.

“Ugh!”

Kourogi let out a cry as his face slammed into the door. While holding the struggling man’s neck down with a firm grip, Kouki swiftly untied his own necktie. Using it, he tied Kourogi’s wrists behind his back.

“W-What are you doing…!? Untie me!”

Kourogi wailed. But Kouki roughly threw him onto the bed.

“Whoa—!”

Kourogi fell onto the bed face up. Kouki swiftly removed his shoes, unbuckled his belt, and yanked his trousers and underwear down. Then, using Kourogi’s own necktie, he tied the man’s ankles together.

As Kouki turned to leave the room, Kourogi—now bound hand and foot, with his lower body exposed—called out desperately, “Wait! Please! I told you everything, didn’t I? I even gave you the card! Please, don’t leave me here like this!”

Kouki paused and glanced back at the pitiful man on the bed, looking down at him with cold disdain and a hint of contempt.

“Because of your disgusting greed, Aya is dead. No, she was murdered. —By tomorrow afternoon, when you don’t show up for checkout, the hotel staff will come to this room. By that time, you’ll be freed.”

At the mention of ‘that time’, Kourogi’s dark face twisted in horror. He couldn’t help but imagine how the hotel staff would react upon seeing him in such a humiliating state.

“I-If that happens, I’m finished! Please! Help me!”

Ignoring the man’s tearful cries, Kouki left the bedroom. He grabbed the card key from the holder on the wall and sprinted down the hallway toward the elevator.

(Please… I have to make it in time!)

Suddenly, Amane awoke.

As he blinked, staring at the black ceiling above, his blurred vision gradually became clearer.

He raised a hand to his throbbing head and slowly sat up, taking in his surroundings. He was alone in the VIP lounge. The room that was decorated in black and red.

Amane was lying on one of the U-shaped box sofas.

He listened carefully. But there was no sign of anyone else around.

Did the three Alphas leave after drugging him to sleep?

As the thought crossed his mind, Amane suddenly gasped, frantically checking his own body.

He was still wearing his white shirt and suit pants, though he had no tie, jacket, or shoes. His piercings were still intact, and the small camera hidden in his ear cuff was unharmed. The wireless voice recorder in his shirt pocket was also safe.

Most importantly, he didn’t feel any pain or discomfort in his backside or crotch.

Realising that nothing had happened, Amane let out his long-held breath he hadn’t realised he’d been holding.

(But still…)

He had assumed they’d drugged him to rape him. But that didn’t seem to be the case. Was it because, unlike Aya, he was a man and not one of their sexual targets?

If that was true, why had they bothered drugging him?

(How long have I been out?)

He wanted to check the time. But his phone was in the pocket of his missing jacket. There wasn’t a single clock in the room—no wall clocks or anything else to check the time.

For now, he stood up from the box sofa. His legs were shaky. But not to the point where he couldn’t walk. Stumbling slightly, he made his way to the door and tried the knob. It was locked. It was not the type that could be opened from the inside.

“…Damn it.”

So, he was locked in until those three came back.

Without his phone, there was no way to contact the outside world.

His legs wobbled again, likely from the lingering effects of the drug. So he returned to the box sofa and sat down.

“This is the worst…”

He muttered, slumping forward in frustration.

This time, he had to admit that going in alone was a mistake.

―――I’ll contact you as soon as I’m done. So please don’t do anything dangerous on your own until I meet up with you.

―――And when you hear this message, please get back to me.

Ignoring Kouki’s warning and request for contact, Amane had charged in solo and dug his own grave.

He had underestimated the three rich Alphas, thinking he could handle them easily.

He had been overconfident, even in the poker game, not realising they were letting him win on purpose.

His arrogance… And overconfidence—he was paying the price for them now.

(I didn’t want to admit it.)

It had been two months since he and Kouki became partners. Amane had gotten used to Kouki’s thorough support and follow-ups. He didn’t want to acknowledge how much he had changed since meeting Kouki.

The thought of leaning on Kouki, relying on Kouki, scared him.

Kouki wasn’t going to stay with the police forever. His role here was more like an internship—a chance to gain real-world experience. Once his time was up, he’d return to his original stage.

That was the right thing to do. And it was what’s best for Kouki as well.

It was an irregular situation for someone from the Shutou family to be working in a place like the Downtown police station.

They lived in different worlds.

*Translator’s Note: Honjou-san, you gotta rely on Kouki. It’s okay to lean on someone sometimes, ya know? And that puppy is so into you! -K
