As Amane shook his head, he was hugged tightly from behind again. …This guy is really hopeless. And he can feel something hard pressing against his ass through the towel.

“You’re… really hard again, you know.”

“I’m sorry… When I was close to you, I got aroused again.”

Amane was exasperated by the apologetic murmur.

In Kouki’s case, the alpha pills had no effect at all. And he got aroused regardless of resonance heat – there was no letting his guard down.

But they still had an hour before their shift. It’s not like he’d be able to sleep anyway.

So why not spend that in-between time indulging in pleasure? In for a penny, in for a pound after all.

Amane pulled Kouki’s hands away from embracing him and turned around to face the alpha with alluring wet hair.

“Since we went to all the trouble of getting it all out, this time absolutely no cumming inside, okay?”

“Okay.”

Kouki, his bluish-grey eyes shining, immediately replied. He then pulled Amane close, kissing him.

“It’s cleared up. Perfect weather for a drive,” Kouki said in a bright voice, gripping the steering wheel as his chestnut colored hair fluttered.

While it had rained heavily for three days until yesterday, today was a clear, summer-like day. It’s perfect for a drive.

Amane, with his elbow resting on the fully open side window, squinted his eyes in the pleasant wind blowing in from the sea.

It had been ten days since that day – a day that felt like a year’s worth of trouble had been condensed into a single day.

The physical evidence they had – the recording of Kourogi’s confession submitted by Kouki, the footage from the mini-camera Amane had hidden in his earpiece, and the voice recording of Aya’s murder confession (this part only) – had forced the three alphas to confess to all their crimes. Not only the physical evidence. But the fact that the perpetrators had sustained significant physical and mental damage also seemed to have pushed them to admit their guilt.

In addition to the rape drug, the plastic surgeon with black-rimmed glasses also confessed to Aya’s murder.

A copy of the interrogation statement was sent to Amane and Kouki by the veteran detective who had led the raid on the secret club, with a note saying ‘Confidential’. Apparently, as a detective, he thought that they must have wanted to know the details of the case they had been involved in.

The following is the confession of the suspect = the black-rimmed glasses plastic surgeon:

About half a year after raping the unconscious Aya, the suspect had a pregnant woman, a client at his cosmetic clinic, tell him “The child in my belly is your child.”

The pregnant woman, Aya, claimed the following:

By chance, she had seen an interview with him in a magazine, and fragmented memories of the hotel incident had resurfaced. And she had learned that he was an alpha. She did not forgive his despicable act, nor did she seek a marital relationship. But she wanted the child, who had a 50% chance of being an alpha, to receive a proper alpha education. For that, she needed him, the father, to acknowledge the child.

However, the suspect could not accept Aya’s demand. Because there was also a 50% chance that the child would be an omega. If he refused to acknowledge the child just because it was an omega, the enraged Aya might leak the date-rape drug incident to the media. That would be troublesome. The cosmetic clinic couldn’t afford to turn women against them.

Reluctantly, he persuaded Aya by saying, “I fell head over heels for you after seeing your gravure photos. And my feelings just kept growing when we actually met. I desperately wanted you and resorted to a despicable method. I regret it. I’ll take responsibility.” As he repeatedly expressed remorse whenever they met, gave her baby goods as gifts for the child, and discussed the child’s name together, she gradually began to trust him. He secretly visited her apartment a few times and obtained a spare key.

Whenever he visited the apartment, he always wore thin leather gloves. He had told Aya “My skin is sensitive and it gets rough, so I wear gloves to protect it,” but in reality, it was a measure to avoid leaving fingerprints in the room.

And on that fateful night, keeping his plan hidden in his heart, he visited Aya’s apartment.

“I suddenly had an urge to see you.”

Aya was surprised by the sudden visit, but she still brewed him a milk tea.

When Aya left the room, he added a sleep medication from his clinic to her cup. As they talked, Aya began to doze off, and soon lost consciousness. He carried the unconscious Aya to the bathroom, where he had filled the bathtub with water, and submerged her. After confirming her death, he washed and wiped the two cups, and returned them to the cupboard. After leaving the room, he used the spare key he had been given to lock the door, and then disposed of the key.

All of these tasks were carried out with gloves on, of course.

The note added by the veteran detective said, “We’ve managed to get a confession. But it’s a long road before the three suspects are tried and sentenced under the law.”

He too, with his long career as a detective, knew that there was a high possibility that the powerful alpha relatives of the perpetrators would make their crimes disappear.

Yet, the secret club had been raided and shut down. The customers and staff were released within two days. But the commotion had exposed their secret hobbies to their families and acquaintances, subjecting them to social sanctions.

Kourogi Masashi was also detained on charges of sexual assault aiding and abetting, and was being interrogated in the detention center. Without waiting for the results of indictment or non-indictment, the representative of ‘Chance Promotions’ had been replaced by someone else. The black-rimmed glasses’ cosmetic clinic had also suspended operations due to the arrest of its representative.

Slowly but surely, the world was changing.

It might be a futile struggle. But if they gave up, it would be the end.

They had to keep struggling, believing in that.

As Kouki had once said, Amane believed the day would come when they could cross the gender categorical barriers.

“Last night, I called Mizuki and reported about Aya’s case.”

Hearing the name Kouki casually mentioned, Amane recalled the face of the popular actress who was ubiquitous in TV commercials, online ads, and digital signage – Mizuki Andou.

Come to think of it, it was a call from her that had been the beginning of it all.

“I just gave her the conclusion, omitting the details. She was shocked to learn that Aya’s cause of death was murder. But seemed relieved that the suspects had been arrested. Oh yes, she had a message for you, Honjou-san. ‘Thanks to your efforts, I was able to find closure. Thank you very much for your hard work.'”

“…I see.”

“She said she’ll work hard on her acting dream, including Aya’s part.”

“Mizuki Andou is the hope star for omegas.”

“Yes, that’s true. But for me, Honjou-san is my only star and idol.”

Amane gave the man a sidelong glare. But Kouki’s expression was dead serious, which hardly seemed like a joke.

“That’s creepy.”

Kouki chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. “Sorry. I couldn’t help but be honest. We almost reached the place, right?”

Recognizing the familiar scenery beyond the windshield, Amane nodded.

The last time he had been here was exactly a year ago.

Back then, he had come alone.

“I’ll finally be able to talk to his wife and daughter. I want to tell them about how I became a detective after he saved my life, and how reliable and kind he was back then. And that he has always been my hero…”

With his bluish-grey eyes sparkling, Kouki spoke volubly. Seemingly because his long-held dream was coming true, his spirits were high from the morning.

“I’m so glad we both had the day off today. Being able to visit his grave on the anniversary with Honjou-san is the happiest thing for me.”

Amane glanced sideways at the genuinely happy-looking Kouki and spoke to himself, “…Me too.”

It was still difficult for him to put all his feelings into words. He couldn’t change that so easily.

But he felt there was no need to hurry.

Kouki would wait patiently for him.

Sometimes walking beside him, sometimes guarding his back, waiting for the honest version of himself.

As a partner.

As a ‘soulmate’.

“Ah, is it the green-roofed house over there?”

Kouki pointed to the windshield.

Probably because Amane had called earlier to say they were almost there, the wife and daughter of Odagiri were standing in front of the single-story house with sunflowers blooming in the garden.

“Yes… The daughter has grown taller again this year.”

Noticing them, the two waved back at them. A serene, natural smile appeared on Amane’s face. It was different from his usual cynical or self-contained expression.

Thank you very much for picking up ‘Resonance Lust: Omegaverse’ this time. This work is a sequel to ‘Resonance Heat: Omegaverse’. If there are those who were drawn to the lust, I would be happy if you could read the previous work first. I wrote it so that it can be read as a standalone. But I think you’ll be able to understand and enjoy the worldview of this series more deeply that way.

Now, it’s been about two years since I opened the door to the Omegaverse without knowing left from right and jumped in. I’ve come to understand the joys of the Omegaverse quite a bit. And the more I learn, the more I feel the Omegaverse is deep. Taking advantage of that depth, this work may be a bit heavier on the crime and partner aspects. That’s just my style. The previous work was mainly set in Amane’s downtown. But this time the spotlight is on the Shutou family and the alpha social world, which is Kouki’s home territory. Amane, who has barged into the Upper Hills, the stronghold of the alphas, while pursuing a case, believes “You and I live in different worlds,” and pushes Kouki away. The key point this time is how they, the stubborn and strong-willed ‘soulmates’, will overcome this with the power of love. In a sense, it’s also a critical moment for Kouki as the ‘Seme’. As I was writing, I was already scolding and encouraging Kouki from a motherly perspective (laughs). I hope you all will enjoy and cheer on Kouki’s efforts.

This time, the illustrations were again drawn by Hasukawa Ai-sensei. Isn’t the colour cover amazing? When I saw the rough sketch, the editor and I both swallowed a lump in our throats. And yet, the humble Hasukawa-sensei said “I’m sorry I couldn’t make it too erotic”! No, no, no… it’s more than enough. I’m really glad I got to write an Omegaverse. Thank you, always!

And since last December, the linked manga adaptation has been in progress (distributed electronically). It’s a story featuring Kouki’s brother, Keiki, as the main character, with beautiful, high-quality art by Yukimura Kanae-sensei. The title is bluntly ‘The Alpha’s Bride: Resonance Romance’. The editor hyped it up as a ‘super mainstream Omegaverse’. So I’m putting my heart and soul into making the content worthy of that hype. Please check that out as well.
