―――You were ready to throw your life away, weren’t you? If that’s the case, then leave your life to me.
Kazusa, who had boldly grasped the outstretched hand of the man with gem-like eyes offering salvation, returned to his dorm room with him.
Just as Zero had mentioned on the rooftop, the door wasn’t locked. It made Kazusa realise how panicked he must have been, even though he’s usually a cautious type.
(Well… I was pretty drunk back then. And I was ready to die, after all.)
To be honest, he hadn’t even thought about what would happen after he died.
The hospital dormitory was divided into floors for single residents and families. But Kazusa, living alone, occupied a 1LDK room with a main living space, kitchen, and separate bathroom and toilet. Though it faced north and didn’t get much sunlight, it didn’t matter since he practically lived at the hospital anyway. And since neither friends nor lovers visited, he had no particular complaints.
The room’s furnishings consisted of just a desk, an office chair, a two-seater sofa, a low table, a bed, a bookshelf, a clothes case, a fridge, and a washing machine—minimal, but convenient if he ever needed to move.
Zero seemed to have had a similar impression. After looking around the sparse main room, he said, “You could move out of here anytime, really.”
Nodding in agreement, Kazusa then began hesitantly, “Um…”
“I’d like to take a shower first, if you don’t mind waiting a bit.”
Though he knew he needed to talk to Zero about when to vacate the room, how to do it, and other details, at the moment, there was something more urgent that Kazusa needed to attend to.
Post-sex cleanup. Zero’s semen was still inside him. Though most had already flowed out, and he had wiped himself with the handkerchief Zero had lent him, it wasn’t fully dealt with.
The thought of having to remove the remaining semen from his body was unpleasant. But Kazusa consoled himself by thinking, “I’m a doctor. So I’m probably better suited for this than most people.”
“A shower?”
Zero’s voice questioned back. And after a moment, he seemed to understand. “Ah, that. Sorry—I got too caught up in it and forgot to pull out.”
(Forgot to pull-out…)
Kazusa’s eyes darted nervously at the raw term. Though Zero’s tone was casual, Kazusa, who wasn’t used to such conversations, felt awkward.
Still, Zero had this otherworldly air about him. Even when talking about sexual matters, it didn’t come across as vulgar when it came from him. Maybe it was because he said things without guilt, with such confidence.
Or perhaps this was what it meant to be a man who lived in the ‘world of the night’.
“N-no… It’s my fault too.”
Kazusa, after all, had been so overwhelmed by the orgasm brought on by someone else for the first time that he hadn’t thought to use protection.
Then, as that thought crossed his mind, Kazusa suddenly exclaimed, “Ah!”
(That’s right!)
While the risk of STDs or stomach pain was on his mind, considering they’d had unprotected anal sex. There was an even greater risk Kazusa faced as an Omega. A rookie mistake.
“This is bad…”
Kazusa’s face paled as he quickly scanned the room. He spotted his glasses on the floor, picked them up, and put them on. Now that his vision was clear again, he glanced around the room once more. There were cardboard boxes he’d brought from the hospital scattered on the floor. An empty wine bottle. A toppled glass. A wine stain. And—
“There it is!”
Kazusa rushed over to the shoulder bag thrown on the floor, unzipped it, and pulled out a packet of medicine. Tipping the paper bag upside down, four PTP sheets of pills fell out onto the floor. Three of the sheets contained eight pills each, seven for daily use over seven days and one extra, making a total of three months’ worth of suppressants. The fourth, differently coloured sheet was also an eight-pill set, prescribed ‘just in case’ by a doctor from the obstetrics department.
“In the early stages, things can be unstable, and unexpected heat cycles can occur, so I’ll prescribe you some emergency contraceptive pills, just in case.”
The doctor had explained that even if he engaged in unsafe sex, as long as he took the emergency contraceptive within twenty-four hours, it would prevent an unwanted pregnancy. That’s how dangerous it was to be an Omega, always at risk of something like a rape.
At the time, Kazusa thought that wouldn’t apply to him. But he accepted the pills half as a kind of ‘talisman’.
(Who would have thought I’d have to use them so soon…)
With a complicated feeling, he pushed one pill from the emergency contraceptive sheet into his hand and walked to the kitchen. He took out a bottle of mineral water from the fridge, swallowed the pill, and wiped his wet mouth with the back of his hand. He let out a ‘phew’ of relief. At last, he could relax. But just as he felt a wave of relief, Zero’s voice came from behind, asking, “What did you just take?”
“…!”
Kazusa flinched and turned around, meeting Zero’s mismatched eyes. Thanks to the glasses correcting his vision, the brilliance of Zero’s gaze made him think, He’s dazzling!
The thought that he had actually had sex with such a beautiful man felt unbelievable. If it hadn’t been for the heat, Zero probably wouldn’t have even given him the time of day.
Annoyed at himself for thinking like this, Kazusa mumbled, “It’s… um… an emergency contraceptive pill. Uh, well… there was a possibility of pregnancy.”
As he explained, a strange feeling crept up on him. The idea of getting pregnant didn’t feel real at all. And here he was, following textbook procedures, which felt almost absurd.
“…Pregnancy.”
Zero repeated the word aloud while Kazusa hurriedly added, “Ah, but it’s fine now. I took the pill. So there’s no need to worry about pregnancy. I had a former colleague prescribe it along with three months’ worth of regular suppressants…”
He said this to reassure Zero. But instead, Zero furrowed his eyebrows.
“I’m not worried. Even if a child were to come from this, I’m prepared to take responsibility.”
“…Huh?”
Kazusa let out a sceptical sound.
Whether he was just trying to look cool or not, this was an outrageous thing to say. Kazusa couldn’t help but feel irritated. He stared directly at the man in front of him.
“Don’t say things like ‘I’m prepared to take responsibility’ so lightly.”
Zero’s well-shaped eyebrows twitched.
“I didn’t mean it that way.”
The intensity of his deep voice almost made Kazusa back down. But knowing he would have to rely on Zero going forward, he felt the need to make his stance clear now.
