Credit where it’s due, The Dark Principle’s quite something. He killed off a fellow Rank A without breaking a sweat.

I’m leaning towards the latter possibility. The disappearance of the arm was an illusion. Additionally, there was no way that ability user from before could kill himself and his comrade if his perception was unaltered.
Therefore, I conclude that the Black Principle is probably an illusionist.
