Nuo Wei detailed every little thing he needed to pass on to Lin En. Neither of them noticed the small red dot on the flight tracker gradually moving, now making its way from Central Hospital to home.

The buyer was terrified half to death upon seeing Chu Ci. Thinking the person was a female zerg due to the gentle demeanor and polite conversation, the buyer felt reassured and boldly requested the seller to have the flight craft delivered. It wasn’t until Chu Ci hopped out of the craft, with his smooth cheeks and neck exposed, that the buyer realized Chu Ci was a male zerg.

Flustered beyond words, the buyer profusely apologized, fearing that Chu Ci would use this as an excuse to take action against him.

Unfazed, Chu Ci casually waved his hand, let the buyer check the craft’s functionality, then hopped back into the Galaxy and went home.

With Nuo Wei at work and no one at home, the game was too boring. Chu Ci’s space battle had hit a bottleneck; no matter how much he practiced, his score remained stuck at five thousand points. So, he decided to take a break and do something else, but after a full circle of the house, he didn’t know what to do.

Zerg males had taken the saying “live to eat and do nothing” to an extreme. They neither studied nor worked, spending their leisure time mistreating female zergs, partying, and hanging out aimlessly with other zerg males. Chu Ci had no interest in that lifestyle. He didn’t like abusing others, spending money recklessly, nor did he enjoy aimless shopping with a bunch of clueless zerg males.

So he spent the entire morning at home, feeling unbearably bored.

The entire house was filled with smart home devices, and the robotic butler could cook. Zergs almost had no house chores; Chu Ci couldn’t even find a mop to clean the floor. With a lack of entertainment options, zerg novels, short videos, games, and movies were all rubbish. Feeling incredibly bored, he finally decided, “Why not find a job?”

Back on Earth, Chu Ci’s dream had been to never work and retire early, but in the zerg’s world, the overly relaxed lifestyle made him feel even more bored.

Since Nuo Wei was at home, Chu Ci didn’t worry about making money. He thought he could find a job he liked that would give him a sense of achievement, regardless of the salary, and just try it out for a few days. If he liked it, he’d continue; if not, he’d quit.

With that in mind, Chu Ci turned to the Star Network.

The Star Network had a specific section for jobs, listing all sorts of positions. Chu Ci sent out a few resumes, but most of them went unanswered, and he even received a private message insulting him for pretending to be a male zerg applying for jobs when no male zergs would ever want him.

Realizing that his gender had been automatically marked as male on his resume by his device, Chu Ci quickly changed his gender to female and sent out more applications.

His target was game planning.

After playing space battles for three days straight, Chu Ci felt nauseous just seeing those games. Yet even with such a crude game, it consistently ranked at the top on the star network. Chu Ci had looked into it and found that while the zergs had excellent modeling skills and good artistic abilities, most of these skills were applied to military purposes like geographical modeling and not for games.

Unlike the glossy resumes of most female zergs, Chu Ci’s resume was just a blank slate. Thankfully, male zergs didn’t need to read or write, naturally possessing degrees from Central University. Since their diplomas concealed their gender and male zergs never used them to look for jobs, there wasn’t much concern about fairness.

Chu Ci took the chicken feathers and made a dart1Took the chicken feathers and made a dart” (拔鸡毛当令箭): An idiom meaning someone uses a small or unofficial sign of power as if it were true authority—he listed two game projects from his university days, logged into Star Network, selected a few game studios he liked, and clicked “Apply All.”

Some companies screened applications in as little as three days, others took up to two months. That afternoon, Chu Ci returned to his idle routine, slumped on the sofa, sighing toward the door: “When will Nuo Wei be back?”

Although Nuo Wei wasn’t very talkative and rarely showed his emotions, he was incredibly good-looking—a big beauty with silver hair and cyan eyes. He didn’t need to do anything; he just needed to sit there quietly for Chu Ci to look at, and that was enough to pass the time.

Hearing his question, San San rolled his plump body over: Hello, Master. The female monarch is expected to return home at 10 p.m. tonight.

Chu Ci sat up from the couch, surprised. “So late? He just got back to the military department and now he’s working overtime?”

San San shook its body. No military department permissions. I don’t know the situation regarding overtime. If the female monarch works late, he’ll arrive home after 10 PM, with the exact time depending on the overtime.

Chu Ci furrowed his brow. “If it’s not overtime, why so late?”

San San replied, Because the walking time from the military department to the home is four hours.

Chu Ci blinked. “Walking time?”

Why walk when there’s a perfectly good flight vehicle?

He was caught off guard and suddenly grasped at a clue. “San San, turn on the garage’s surveillance.”

The flight vehicles were all neatly parked in the garage, none missing. Nuo Wei hadn’t used the flight vehicle at all.

Chu Ci rubbed his forehead and swore under his breath, “Damn it.”

He had been acting like an idiot again.

The memory of the male is unreliable. Before Chu Ci regained his senses, he was nothing more than a pure drunkard with no brain function beyond staying alive. He had thought the flight vehicle in the garage was one of the rare moments when he wasn’t blind before, but he only now realized that it belonged to his female monarch.

The male master naturally had free access to the female monarch’s things, but the female monarch would never dare use the male’s.

…Of course, with those random, dilapidated old vehicles, Chu Ci wouldn’t have the face to let Nuo Wei drive them to work anyway.

He was silent for a moment before asking, “So, how did Nuo Wei get there this morning?” He couldn’t have walked there, could he?

San San replied, In the morning, the female monarch took a colleague’s car.

People living in this neighborhood were either nobles or military officers, so finding someone to ride to the military department with was easy.

Chu Ci breathed a sigh of relief. “Nuo Wei shouldn’t be that stupid, he’ll probably take the flight vehicle back, right?”

San San said, According to the Female Monarch Manual, if the male master doesn’t confiscate items, such as the light brain or the flight vehicle, the female monarch cannot use them privately except for emergency situations.

The military department’s permissions were extremely high, so going to the military department could be considered an emergency for Nuo Wei, but returning home would not.

Although Chu Ci didn’t want to deal with that damn Female Monarch Manual at all, Nuo Wei would definitely follow it.

The stupid zerg.

Chu Ci opened his light brain, wanting to send a message to Nuo Wei, but he checked the time instead. There was still a while until the military department closed. If he took the flight vehicle over, he could arrive just before they closed.

Since staying home was boring, Chu Ci stood up. He tidied himself slightly, since he might run into Nuo Wei’s colleagues at the military department. He brushed his hair, chose a long silver-gray coat, and then pulled out the Galaxy from the garage, setting its coordinates for the military department and activating the automatic flight.

The tail wings of the Galaxy spewed blue-purple flames as it sped away.

At the military department, Nuo Wei had not opened the Galaxy‘s location app all day. After showing it to Lin En, he had uninstalled the app. Nuo Wei’s heart ached with bitterness; he didn’t even have the courage to look at the location. It was as if by uninstalling the app, he couldn’t see it, and he could deceive himself, pretending there was still a glimmer of hope for passing the seven-day appeal.

When he had just learned that the male master had signed the amnesty, Nuo Wei thought he had no chance of passing the appeal period. But when the male master removed the suppression ring and let him go to the medical room, that possibility suddenly jumped to fifty percent. Later, when he lost control in the examination room, the male master’s noble face appeared outside the glass, and that chance even reached ninety percent.

Then came the nights spent in bed together, gentle whispers, and the burning warmth of the male master’s hand holding his own…

For a brief moment, Nuo Wei almost believed he had endured all the punishments and would never have to return to the correctional facility again.

What a beautiful dream.

But precisely because the app was uninstalled, Nuo Wei couldn’t see that Chu Ci had only stayed at the hospital for half an hour, returning home afterward and staying in bed all day.

He also couldn’t see that the Galaxy was once again on the move, the small red dot representing its location bouncing and speeding towards the military department.

As the workday neared its end, Nuo Wei was conducting his last meeting of the day.

Nuo Wei’s light brain had been removed from his wrist and was now upside down on the table in front of him. He sat at the head of the long table, with Lin En, Yi Ta, Yi Si, and several other key military figures around.

This day, Nuo Wei was crammed with meetings. The Ninth Expedition to quell the rebellion was imminent, and changing the commander would have a significant impact on morale. Yet he had no choice but to impart as much knowledge as possible.

Nuo Wei projected data from the previous eight offensives onto the screen. He poured out everything he knew, analyzing the points of failure one by one, simulating many extreme scenarios like betrayal, mutiny, etc. By the time he finished explaining everything, his voice was slightly hoarse.

Nuo Wei’s gaze swept over a group of generals. “Did you all understand what I said today?”

Lin En nodded first. “Understood.”

Nuo Wei had only told Lin En about the seven-day appeal. Yi Ta, Yi Si, and the other generals didn’t know; they only thought he was conducting a pre-war briefing and didn’t guess at the cruel truth.

Lin En looked at the tired Nuo Wei, his cyan eyes slightly misty.

As it was time to finish for the day, Nuo Wei announced the end of the meeting, and Lin En took the initiative to approach him, walking alongside him out of the military department.

Although Nuo Wei held a high reputation in the military, he didn’t have many friends due to his overly plain personality and often cold demeanor. The military females avoided getting close to him, leaving Nuo Wei to go about alone. Seeing Lin En approach him, he nodded slightly in acknowledgment. “Thank you.”

Lin En chuckled. “There’s no need to thank me for this.” He patted Nuo Wei’s shoulder. “Where’s your flying vehicle? I’ll see you off.”

There might not be many opportunities left.

Nuo Wei shook his head, his tone indifferent. “My flying vehicle was taken by the male master. I’ll walk back.”

“Don’t be so honest,” Lin En stopped him. “How far is your place? Let me give you a ride. You can sit at a place for a meal or a drink before heading home when it’s time.”

“No need.” Nuo Wei shook his head. “If we’re seen, it’ll just stir up unnecessary trouble.”

Lin En could only sigh. “Alright.”

As soon as he spoke, a gust of wind suddenly swept past them, blowing both their coats up Lin En turned to look and saw a silver-white aircraft slowing down beside them. Then, a clear voice sounded.

Chu Ci rolled down the window. “Nuo Wei?”

He flew in the air, unable to see clearly who was who. He used his light brain to locate Nuo Wei’s light brain and found him. Then, he piloted the Galaxy down, just in time landing beside Nuo Wei.

Nuo Wei looked up and saw the smiling male sitting inside the flying vehicle.

The male wore a silver-gray long coat, draped over with a pure white high-neck sweater, looking both noble and lazy. He leaned against the window, half his arm hanging outside, his gaze lowered, watching his female.

Nuo Wei stood frozen in place.

The male inside the flying vehicle was slightly taller than the female. Nuo Wei had to look up at him. The major general hesitated, his beautiful eyes widening in surprise. “My Lord?”

Why are you here?

It was said that Major General Nuo Wei in the military was cold and unapproachable, like an iceberg keeping everyone at arm’s length. Yet, this silly zerg would always go dumb in front of Chu Ci, his slender eyes wide and round, his silver hair cascading over his shoulders like a fluffy little animal.

Chu Ci only felt that the silly, soft zerg was cute. His hand itched a little, so he reached out and gently poked the female’s shoulder. “Take off your military cap.”

Nuo Wei didn’t understand Chu Ci’s meaning but still obediently removed his military cap.

Chu Ci reached out and gave a rough, affectionate ruffle to his soft silver hair.

Nuo Wei’s hair was thick and soft, like petting a kitten on its head. Chu Ci messed up the female’s hair, then belatedly realized this action wasn’t quite appropriate. Clearing his throat awkwardly, he casually pulled his arm back, pretending nothing happened as he met Nuo Wei’s dazed gaze.

Nuo Wei looked even more dazed.

Chu Ci raised an eyebrow. “Why are you just standing there like an idiot? Are you really planning to walk all the way back?”

Saying that, Chu Ci opened the other side of the vehicle’s door and gestured at Nuo Wei to come over. “Hurry up and get in.”

Nuo Wei bit his lip, took a step forward, and climbed into the flying vehicle.

His steps were light and unsteady, his expression slightly dazed, like he had been drinking. Once he sat down in the vehicle, he didn’t look at Chu Ci, keeping his head down without saying a word.

After Nuo Wei settled in, Chu Ci finally looked down at Lin En outside the vehicle.

He gave a nod to acknowledge Lin En, asking, “Are you Nuo Wei’s colleague?”

Lin En looked somewhat stunned. “Yes.”

Chu Ci replied, “Hello, I’m here to pick up my female after work. Now that I’ve got him, we’re leaving.”

With that, he waved goodbye, rolled up the car window, and started the Galaxy. This model of flying vehicle was the highest-end available in the empire. With a few quick accelerations, it shot through the clouds and disappeared into the sky.

It also left a trail of exhaust fumes in Lin En’s face.

Lin En: “…”

Lin En wiped his face, feeling like his sincere feelings had gone to waste. He angrily stared at the direction the flying vehicle disappeared into, thinking, “What a pretentious, damned female.”

Nuo Wei had acted in front of him as if he wasn’t favoured, saying nonsense like he wouldn’t survive the appeal period, that the male would replace him, that he’d never return to the military—all lies that almost brought Yi Si to tears. Yet now, the male had flown in just to pick him up after work, repeatedly calling him “my female,” even speaking softly and tenderly while ruffling his hair. If this is what not being favoured looks like, then what female in the world is favoured?

He spat and gave a middle finger to the sky.

“Damn bug, go to hell!”
