…………………………………………..

The hospital room was in chaos around Chu Ci.

The doctor, holding a light brain device, stood beside the male zerg and spoke earnestly, “Sir, I initially suspect that your brain nerves might be damaged. Please go for a brain scan, just to be sure?”

He marked a series of tests for Chu Ci, from a brain CT scan to checks for neural link disorders, filling out a dense list as if Chu Ci were suffering from an incurable disease.

And all of this happened because the male Zerg said ‘thank you’ three times.

When the nurse handed him his lunch and apologized, not knowing the male zerg’s preferences, and simply took a guess, Chu Ci looked at the mound of food in his bowl and said ‘Thank you.’ When the doctor adjusted his pillow to help him sit up, Chu Ci leaned on the edge of the bed and said ‘Thank you.’ And when the male Zerg took a persimmon fruit and the doctor thoughtfully peeled it for him, handing it to his lips, Chu Ci bit into the sweet fruit and said ‘Thank you.’

Then the medical staff exchanged strange glances.

The male zergs were the most precious beings in the galaxy, entitled and haughty, accustomed to the services of the female monarchs. Even when the female monarchs offered themselves up to death before them, it was a rare sight to gain the attention of a male zerg’s regard. Now, for the male zerg to say ‘Thank you’ for the simplest acts of care?

The medical staff exchanged a heavy glance with one another, realizing with dread that the fall must have damaged the male Zerg’s brain.

The doctor anxiously watched Chu Ci, as if he were a critically ill patient about to pass away, “Sir, I believe you should definitely undergo a brain scan, or you might risk delaying your condition…”

Chu Ci weakly gazed at him.

Receiving help and thanking the person who helped is a basic courtesy for humans, but in the Zerg society, this approach does not apply. These few female zergs were on edge, as if he had said something terrifying rather than ‘Thank you.’

The doctor’s expression was serious, as if he had “Sir, I suspect there’s something wrong with your brain” written on his face.

“Of course, Sir, I’m not saying you have a neurological problem. It’s just that you fell to the ground, so there might be some underlying injuries. For safety’s sake, and for your future quality of life, we recommend…”

“Alright.” Chu Ci interrupted the doctor’s relentless speech, “I agree to have a brain scan.”

“Good.” The doctor, fearing the male zerg might change his mind, quickly activated the electronic treatment form and asked, “Sir, where’s your light brain?”

Chu Ci replied instinctively, “In the drawer.”

He activated his light brain and lightly tapped the electronic treatment form to pay for the scans.

Chu Ci was a valuable male zerg, receiving the most advanced pain-free, non-radiative treatment available, which came with a very high price tag. Chu Ci looked at the balance in his light brain, momentarily stunned. Male zergs didn’t work; although the Empire provided small allowances, compared to the male zerg’s lavish expenditures, it was negligible. But now, his account showed a string of zeros, so many that he couldn’t even count them. Chu Ci never dreamed when he was human that he would have this much money.

This was Nuo Wei’s salary.

The Major General was fighting a life-and-death battle on the front lines for the Empire, while his male zerg counterpart was indulging himself back home. After sending the  female monarch to the prison, he would still use the female zerg’s salary to pay for his medical treatment.

“…”

Chu Ci pressed his head.

— Damn it, damn it, damn it!

How did I become this kind of scum… No, this kind of Zerg scum!

In his previous life, Chu Ci was a typical ‘child of another’s family’ from a human standard. His parents were both professors with strict yet loving discipline. They rarely argued, and when they did, it was always calm and rational, sitting quietly to resolve things. Chu Ci never understood those people on the news fighting and abusing each other, as they seemed entirely alien to his upbringing.

Now he had become scum to the core.

……If his parents and teachers knew he had become like this, they would be heartbroken.

Chu Ci pulled the blanket tighter around himself, looking extremely grim.

The male zerg was despondent, and the medical staff were alarmed. Male zerg applications always received priority, and his treatment form had already been approved with equipment scheduled. The doctor cautiously asked, “Sir, should I take you to the brain scan now?”

Chu Ci nodded.

The nurse guided him into the wheelchair, pushing him forward. Chu Ci, caught off guard, spoke instinctively, “Thank…” He silently swallowed the last word.

Forget it. No more thanks.

A simple CT scan would turn into a full-body checkup if he kept this up.

The scanning room was at the end of the hallway, the wheelchair’s creaking wheels echoing as they rolled towards it. Then, the door to the scanning room closed with a clunk, the red light flickering, signaling that the male zerg was starting his examination.

Nuo Wei withdrew his gaze, stepping into the male zerg’s hospital room.

The male zerg was no longer there; medical staff were airing out the room, tidying the bedding. Nuo Wei arrived in a hurry, dressed in a tailored, light gold military jacket over a white shirt, his hair untidy, tied back in a loose ponytail, and a restraint collar around his neck. His back was still marked with wounds, but he stood tall, like a slender pine in the breeze. The medical staff glanced at him, a brief flicker of concern in their eyes.

“General Nuo Wei? Your timing isn’t great. Your male zerg just went for an examination.”

Nuo Wei nodded. “I know.”

The staff looked at him, a mix of concern and pity. The female zerg’s condition was clearly dire; he appeared severely weakened, dehydrated—a result of the neglect in the correctional facility. A well-groomed female zerg might not win the male zerg’s favor; could the pitiful image of the Major General really endure through the seven-day appeal period? Would the male zerg throw him back into that dreadful place?

The medical staff picked up a jug of water from the table and filled a cup for Nuo Wei. “General, have a little water?” They knew the female Zerg might not have another chance to drink once he returned.

Nuo Wei nodded. “Thank you.”

“Actually…” The staff hesitated for a moment before deciding to be honest, “Your male zerg saw the photos of you receiving punishment when he signed the pardon.”

Nuo Wei’s dark, stormy eyes moved slightly, fixed unblinkingly on the staff, like the sky after rain.

The unspoken question hung in the air: “Was he satisfied?”

— After all, the days of punishment and suffering, was his male Zerg content?

The staff gritted his teeth, a look of reluctance crossing his face. “Your male zerg vomited.”

He didn’t dare continue; the truth was, your male zerg hugged a waste bin and vomited violently, his face turning pale, almost bringing up bile. If he hadn’t been receiving fluids these past few days and barely eating, he might have filled a whole bin with vomit.

……That wasn’t satisfaction; it was deep dissatisfaction.

Nuo Wei silently turned his eyes away, a look of weary understanding in his expression.

The medical staff cautiously surveyed him. “General, are you alright?”

“I’m fine.” Nuo Wei’s expression was flat, showing no emotion. He knelt beside the bed, removing his military jacket, leaving only the white shirt underneath. “Could you please bring out a set of punishment tools from outside? I think they might be needed when my male master returns.”

Military uniforms were issued by the military department, and they were not something to be easily damaged.

“……Alright, I’ll go buy a set of punishment tools for you.”

In the Zerg culture, punishment tools were as common as condoms in human society—frequently needed for certain activities. They could be easily purchased anywhere, with a variety of basic tools inside. Although they didn’t match the extensive collection found in many male zerg’s basements, they were sufficient.

Nuo Wei silently knelt on the ground, like a silent statue, until the medical staff finished tidying up and closed the door. He remained there quietly, his position offering a rare moment of rest compared to the harsh punishments in the correctional facility.

In the scanning room, Chu Ci finally completed all the necessary tests. He looked weakly at the doctor. “Can I go now?”

“Sir…” The doctor’s brow furrowed as he held the results of the male zerg’s scans, studying them from beginning to end, then from end to beginning again.

His expression was too serious, as if he were about to call in all the brain experts from the hospital for a specialist consultation. Chu Ci’s brow twitched, almost thinking he was gravely ill, about to be sent to the morgue. “Is there something wrong with my test results?”

The doctor hesitated. “No…” he said slowly, “Your results are very good.”

—Not just good, but too good. The brain imaging was clear, the neural links were accurate, and every blood vessel was safely in its proper place. According to the test results, this male zerg’s brain function was extraordinarily normal.

……But how could a male zerg with normal brain function say ‘Thank you’?

Chu Ci looked at him with suspicion.

No matter how he looked at it, the doctor’s expression was like Chu Ci had no hope left. But out of humanitarian concern, the doctor seemed to be planning to deceive the patient along with his family. He gave a forced smile, saying, “Everything is fine. You should eat well and sleep well. We might need to check with you again in a few days. You should go back now. I think your female monarch, Nuo Wei, is waiting for you.”

……Sure enough.

A forced smile, another check, and a mention of his family. Chu Ci thought, ‘I’m surely doomed to death.

In his previous life, Chu Ci had grown up in a nursery. He was a male zerg egg left on the border of a warzone. He had no female parent or male parent; his only guardian before adulthood was the head of the nursery. After he came of age, his only family was Nuo Wei, his female monarch.

But Chu Ci didn’t feel too sentimental about it. In his previous life, he had died from overwork and sudden heart failure. In this life, he had transmigrated into a pitiful, mentally challenged zerg scum, who had been coddled and adored like a star by society. Even if he was not long for this world, he thought he could atone for his past actions as a scumbag by being a better person now.

The male zerg hummed emotionlessly, “Push me back, please.”

The nurse pushed the male zerg’s wheelchair and wheeled him back to his hospital room. As the examination room door closed, a younger female nurse cupped her face, softly exclaiming, “Oh my god, he’s the cutest little male zerg I’ve ever seen.”

He showed no signs of impatience during the lengthy examination, completely cooperating with the medical staff’s instructions—raising his hand when asked, shaking his head when told. The entire time, he was incredibly compliant, and even when the younger nurse accidentally bumped into him, the male zerg did not seem to mind.

“He’s not only very good-natured, but he’s also very good-looking.”

Chu Ci had a gentle and attractive face, with a scholarly, refined air about him, almost like a high-achieving, aloof student in a school. Just sitting there in his plain white shirt, he seemed to create his little scene.

They whispered to each other, “I wonder if he needs a female attendant. He was just injured and needs someone to take care of him.”

An older medical staff member knocked on the younger nurse’s head and furrowed her brow. “It’s just an examination. How do you know he’s good-tempered? His female monarch, Nuo Wei, just came out of the correctional facility.”

When they mentioned Nuo Wei, they all fell silent.

The older staff member sighed quietly. “Alright, everyone, go finish your work. If the male zerg sleeps, maybe we can give Nuo Wei, the male zerg’s female monarch, some treatment to make him feel better.”

In the hospital room, Chu Ci was wheeled into the room and immediately saw Nuo Wei kneeling.

The female monarch, Nuo Wei, had a tall and elegant figure, his smoothly defined muscles taut within a well-fitted shirt. His military trousers hugged his straight legs. At this moment, he quietly knelt beside the bed, half his face bathed in the evening light. The white shirt was tinged with a warm orange glow, making it look like a warm-toned painting.

Chu Ci spoke softly, “Why are you kneeling?”

Nuo Wei jumped, realizing the punishment over the past few days had greatly dulled his senses to the point that he hadn’t even noticed the male zerg entering the room.

He didn’t want to think about how angry the male zerg would be to have been ignored; his situation had already sunk this low, and it couldn’t get worse.

Nuo Wei adjusted his posture and performed a standard kneeling gesture, holding up a small box the size of a badminton racket with both hands. His voice was calm, “Nuo Wei has offended my Lord; please punish me.”

Chu Ci paused, unsure how to respond.
