SZAR Chapter 31

String has broken: Now, immediately, come over here, got it?

The sounds of the underground parking lot were loud and distorted, with the voices of the female zergs echoing through countless walls and mixed with the hum of exhaust fans, making them somewhat garbled. However, Nuo Wei still heard the voice of the male zerg clearly for the first time.

Chu Ci seemed in great distress, tightly biting his lip, suppressing his heavy breathing, finally resulting in a painful groan from his chest. Nuo Wei’s heart was in turmoil. “What’s wrong with you?”

Chu Ci couldn’t answer; the female zerg beside him could only hold up the light brain to respond on his behalf. “Sir, I think your male zerg has been affected by a drug. It’s the kind of drug used by female zergs to suppress mental sea disturbances. His condition looks quite bad.”

Nuo Wei’s tone was calm, but his fingers hidden under his sleeve were trembling slightly. “…How did he come into contact with this kind of drug?”

The mental suppression drugs were always strictly controlled, akin to human opioid drugs, needing a doctor’s prescription and approval through several steps to obtain. How could a male zerg come into contact with such a drug?

The female zerg on the other end of the call coughed a couple of times. “Sir, now isn’t the time to investigate this. Can you get here in a few minutes?”

Nuo Wei used one hand to support the railing as he jumped over the military compound’s wall. He almost used parkour-level speed to move forward, finally reaching the dashboard of the flying vehicle.

The direction to Golden Feather Flower Hotel was completely opposite to the south of the military compound. Nuo Wei glanced at the speedometer; his flying vehicle was already moving at its fastest speed, yet it would still take a quarter of an hour.

Nuo Wei’s cold voice came through the line. “Fifteen minutes.”

 “Fifteen minutes.”

Fifteen minutes was not long nor short, but in situations concerning mental distress, every second counted. Moreover, male zergs were known for their fragility and poor tolerance; even a slight delay could result in serious consequences.

The female zerg on the other end of the phone mustered up some courage and suddenly asked, “Are you this lord’s female monarch?”

Nuo Wei’s finger paused over the control key, then he pressed down normally.

“Yes.”

“…It’s like this, sir” The female zerg covered the earpiece and glanced at Chu Ci beside him. This male zerg was indeed handsome, and seeing him in such distress, cold sweat had even seeped into his collar. If it were any other male zerg, they would have already cried out in despair. Yet Chu Ci hadn’t uttered a single curse.

A male zerg with such refined looks and high self-restraint was a rare find; once lost, he might never be found again.

The female zerg decided to take a bold step.

His voice came through the receiver. “Sir, your male master’s condition is very poor. I don’t think he can last another 15 minutes. I am Lathlan, the youngest son of the Doulin family, an A-level female zerg, a graduate of the Central Star Judicial Academy, now serving as a clerk at the Ministry of Justice on the main star. If possible, I would like to provide psychological support to your male zerg and later submit a request for his marking as a female attendant. What do you think?”

Nuo Wei’s hand tightly gripped the flight control panel.

The hand driving the starship was trembling uncontrollably. He wanted to reach for the controls and take a shorter route, but he hesitated, not making a move until a fork in the road appeared right in front of him. He finally veered onto the side road, barely avoiding the yellow line.

The cold mechanical voice sounded.

“Driver: Nuo Wei.

Violation: Crossing boundaries.

Penalty: -1 on license points.

Please submit an inspection report within five days and reflect on your dangerous behavior, or your license will be temporarily suspended.”

Nuo Wei was one of the best drivers in the military, someone who dared to pilot a starship through an asteroid field. If Lin En knew that his driving on the main star’s roadways could lead to a suspended license, he would laugh until next year. But Nuo Wei didn’t even hear the announcement; his mind was blank.

He had known this day might come but didn’t expect it to arrive so soon.

Chu Ci was an A-level male, even rarer than S-class females. Nuo Wei had never expected to exclusively possess him, nor had he ever aspired to. Before this, he had even hoped that the male zerg would be paired off with a female attendant early, so he could have some chance to breath. But now…

Now, they have just shown their affection.

The temporary zerg tattoo on his lower abdomen hadn’t yet fully washed away, and his shirt still bore the scent of the male zerg. They had just embraced, kissed, and even the female zerg’s hormone levels were not completely normalized yet.

Time seemed to stretch on for a long while, but in reality, only a moment had passed.

Nuo Wei’s voice came through the communicator: “Of course, if the male master allows, please help him.”

If it were anything else, he might have been able to delay, but with the male zerg’s mental sea at stake, Nuo Wei dared not take any risks.

The male zerg now resembled a gravely ill patient, and conveniently, there were “medications” available to treat it. If the male zerg were to take these “medications,” his mental sea would surely be fine. But the consequences of delay were unimaginable. In such a situation, advising a male zerg to use the “medications” was every female monarch’s duty.

Moreover, Lathlan’s qualifications were not bad—he came from a noble family, had a good education, and performed well in his job. He was completely suitable to be Chu Ci’s female attendant.

Nuo Wei made up his mind and tried to keep his voice steady: “Please help him.”

With the female monarch’s assent, Lathlan steadied himself. His appearance wasn’t top-tier beautiful, but he could be considered fair and handsome. The male zerg, now suffering, couldn’t possibly reject him.

He reached out and supported Chu Ci’s arm.

“Noble Lord, I think I can help you…”

Although Chu Ci felt unbearably hot, he still retained some sanity. He heard the conversation between Nuo Wei and Lathlan,  which only made him angrier.

Added to the effects of the medications, the mental strings in Chu Ci’s mind snapped with a sharp crack, and a burst of fiery anger roared in his mind, burning away all reason.

Damn it.

Damn it!

Chu Ci felt unbearably uncomfortable here. While Nuo Wei was planning on handing him over to someone else, his tone was so breezy and indifferent, reminiscent of a cliché melodramatic TV show from the last century. The foolish, chaste female lead pleading with the CEO, “I don’t want it, I don’t want it!” Then the CEO smirking darkly, “Boss has taken a liking to you; go serve boss. Do it well and you’ll be richly rewarded.”

And Chu Ci was that foolish, chaste female lead.

“…”

Chu Ci was struck dumb by the thought—he wasn’t some melodramatic TV show heroine. He was a male zerg who commanded life and death without question. Compared to Nuo Wei, he was the one who held the authority over life and death.

Grinding his back teeth, only one thought remained in Chu Ci’s mind:

When Nuo Wei arrives, he was going to tie him up and punish him thoroughly—punish him until Nuo Wei cried, so the damned fool would know which words to say and which not to say.

Lathlan’s hand had already moved up to Chu Ci’s collar, about to undo the top button. Chu Ci shoved him away, gritting his teeth: “Get away.”

He leaned against the flying vehicle, almost wrenching the words from his throat: “If you want to receive a subpoena from the Male Protection Association about coercing a male zerg, try getting any closer!”

Lathlan’s smile stiffened on his face.

It was hard for him to imagine a male zerg rejecting a female zerg delivered in his doorstep in this situation, especially given that he wasn’t unattractive. Lathlan decided to try once more.

He unbuttoned the collar, exposing smooth skin on his clavicle as he tried to sell himself: “Noble Lord, I’m from the main star, the Doulin family. I have a stable job with no bad habits, my looks are decent, and my physique is above average among females. Trust me, I can give you a delightful night.”

Most male zergs were indiscriminate, let alone Lathlan, a high-quality catch. After all, gaining another female attendant was no loss; it would just add to his wealth. Lathlan struggled to understand why Chu Ci was rejecting him.

The reason for Chu Ci’s rejection was simple—he was a human in his past life.

For the zergs, having several female attendants at once was no big deal, but for humans, it was considered infidelity. Chu Ci, although not necessarily a paragon of virtue, still held a sense of morality and decency. The thought of abandoning his true nature and becoming just like those male zergs was unbearable to him. The idea of his parents finding out and being disappointed was more than he could stand; he might as well have them put him out of his misery.

Struggling to stand, Chu Ci looked at Lathlan, voice wavering: “Help me open the aircraft”

Lathlan was taken aback. “Okay.”

He reached out, pressing against the door of the vehicle, easily unlocking it with a soft click. Just as he was about to help Chu Ci into the vehicle, Chu Ci shrugged off his hand, using his arm to steady himself and struggling up into the vehicle.

Lathlan hesitated about getting in, especially placing a male zerg with a troubled mental sea alone in the vehicle. He was uneasy about it, but before he could touch the carpet inside the vehicle, Chu Ci slammed the door shut right in front of him.

The single-direction transparent sapphire glass slid up, completely separating the inside of the vehicle from the outside world.

Lathlan stood there, staring at the vehicle. The windows have a privacy screen, and he couldn’t see Chu Ci’s face; he could only see his blank expression reflected back.

Lathlan felt more lost and bewildered than when he failed his most confident course in college.

Facing the dark glass, his own face slowly sank away, and the face of the male zerg slowly rose in its place. Lathlan blinked in surprise, realizing it was the male zerg who had lowered the car window.

He immediately put on a polite smile.

Chu Ci extended his hand through the window, his voice strained, “My lightbrain.”

Lathlan’s smile faltered.

The male wasn’t changing his mind; he was just passing over the lightbrain to him.

He quickly handed the lightbrain to Chu Ci, who took it, murmured a thank you, and didn’t look back as he closed the window.

With a solid thud, the window reached the top. Lathlan stood in place for a few seconds, then walked away with a sigh.

The vehicle of the zerg race was soundproof, allowing Chu Ci to flop into his seat, unable to suppress his gasps.

He felt awful, almost suffocating, his breath coming in short, shallow bursts like a person with hay fever, panting halfway through only to draw in another sharp breath. His throat made rapid, wheezing sounds. Nuo Wei’s heart ached as he kept asking, “Where is the other gentleman just now?”

“You need help, My Lord!”

“Where is the other gentleman just now?”

“You need help, My Lord!”

He repeated like a broken record, cycling the same phrases, his forehead throbbing with tension. “He left! Just shut up!”

Nuo Wei completely ignored Chu Ci’s command to shut up. His heart ached with a mixture of pain and worry, the two emotions blending into a sour, itchy feeling in his eyes.

To suppress these overly complex feelings, he muttered to himself, “Left?… How could he leave… What will you do now?”

Chu Ci’s back teeth were grinding together.

He never realized that a calm, aloof military female would be so endlessly chatty, nor did he ever think he would want something to stuff into this military female’s mouth one day, forcing him to swallow these unlikable, meaningless words.

Chu Ci interrupted Nuo Wei, gripping the light brain tightly and cranking the volume all the way up. Each word was bitten off with a sharp, angry edge. “Nuo Wei, you, shut, up.”

“Now, immediately, come over here, got it?”

We’ve seen enough female zergs out of control, let’s see some male zergs out of control.
