Nuo Wei reached out to pick up the light brain, then kneeled beside Chu Ci and placed it in his hand.

Chu Ci: “…”

This sort of helplessness, where someone else has to pick up his light brain when it falls, was utterly pathetic.

But Chu Ci couldn’t voice any objections, or else he would be dragged off for a full-body checkup. He closed the light brain, looking at the kneeling Major General beside the bed: “You’re back, get up.”

Nuo Wei reached out to adjust the strap on Chu Ci’s uniform, lowering his gaze: “I dare not.”

Serving beside the bed was a position for kneeling. The male zerg didn’t like looking up at a female zerg, especially when ill. Nuo Wei didn’t want to cause any trouble.

He reminded the male master: “It’s almost 10 o’clock, you should be sleeping.”

Only when Chu Ci was asleep could Nuo Wei have a moment’s peace. He hadn’t slept in three days, and today’s events had been a whirlwind of sour, bitter, salty, and sweet, testing his endurance. Even someone as resilient as him couldn’t hold up much longer.

His head was heavy, vision dimming. If he made a mistake in front of Chu Ci’s bed, the consequences would not be what Nuo Wei wanted to see.

The Major General was resolute in staying on the floor, refusing to get up. Chu Ci had no choice; if he insisted on forcing Nuo Wei up, the Major General would be scared out of his wits.

He deeply sighed for the sick society of the Zerg race, finally burying his head under the covers: “Alright, then I’ll sleep.”

But with his eyes closed, he just couldn’t fall asleep.

… Seriously, a live zerg kneeling at the edge of the bed, head bowed low so that every movement of his could be felt, each shift in position a careful avoidance of kicking him. Who could sleep like this?

Chu Ci turned over in bed.

Nuo Wei maintained his kneeling posture, resting for a bit, but didn’t dare to fall asleep deeply. At any movement from Chu Ci, he would wake up, keeping his eyes shut and kneeling upright.

This way, whether Chu Ci had orders, was scrutinizing his posture, or even if he wanted to kick, it would be easier to respond.

Chu Ci rolled over again, unable to bear it anymore. Sleeping like this was torment for both of them. He patted the bed: “Stop kneeling, get up here.”

Although they were married, this was their first time sharing a bed, and before they could do anything, Nuo Wei was sent away to the correctional facility. Now, Chu Ci woke up on a hospital bed, remembering his past life. So, their relationship was more like strangers forced together by a match, with no emotional foundation.

But since he was now Chu Ci’s female monarch, sharing a bed with his wife wasn’t a big deal, right?

Nuo Wei’s eyes flickered slightly: “I can’t, the bed is a single bed. I can’t disturb your rest.”

Despite being a single bed, Zerg customs granted special privileges to male zergs. Chu Ci’s bed was wider than a regular single bed, and with both of them being slender, they could fit together comfortably.

“… Stubborn.” Chu Ci muttered.

The Empire’s harsh expectations for female zergs made them rigidly adhere to the rules, afraid of making even a single mistake, lest they fall into a fate of eternal damnation.

Chu Ci could have insisted on bringing Nuo Wei up, but he would just make Nuo Wei restless all night long. After thinking about it, he feigned impatience: “Come up here if I told you to, the bed’s freezing. Hurry up and warm it up for me.”

Nuo Wei got up: “Yes.”

This authoritative tone was the norm for male zergs. Nuo Wei seemed to be back in a familiar element, visibly relaxing as he wordlessly started to unbutton his shirt.

He was only wearing a shirt anyway; with a simple removal, there was nothing underneath.  Chu Ci, under the moonlight outside, could see his skin as cold as jade. The moonlight flowed along his waistline, cascading into his tailored trousers, and then, the female zerg’s hand moved to the metal buckle of his belt.

Lord Chu Ci: “… What are you doing?”

Although he had been living as a zerg for twenty years, those two decades were spent in a daze, leaving him still dominated by human character. Just a glance made Chu Ci uncomfortable, and he quickly looked away.

Do not gaze upon that which is not for you.

Nuo Wei responded softly, matter-of-factly, as if he were reporting the news: “According to the female manual, warming the bed for the male master requires removing all clothing and maximizing skin contact with the bed to achieve the best effect.”

It was as if he were merely a tool for providing warmth.

Chu Ci was speechless; what kind of nonsense manual was this, more absurd than the “three obediences and four virtues”.

When he didn’t speak, the female zerg hesitated. He assumed his actions had displeased the male zerg, so he bowed his head: “It’s my fault for not learning the manual properly, I’ve offended the male master. Please punish me.”

Chu Ci just wished this cursed manual would quickly disappear from his female zerg’s mind. But now, no matter what he said, the female zerg would only think he was scolding it. He hesitated before mumbling, “No, it’s fine. Just come up here.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the female zerg slid into the bed.

Now, they were both only wearing thin pajamas; the warmth of his skin through the fabric made Chu Ci start to sweat at his brow.

His hand tentatively touched the female zerg’s waist, a brief touch, before quickly retracting. He then wrapped his arm around the female zerg’s shoulder, pulling it into his embrace: “Just go to sleep.”

“Yes.”

They were so close now that the female zerg’s face almost touched the male zerg’s shoulder. The male zerg’s hand around the female zerg’s back was scorching hot, lightly touching the skin, making Nuo Wei feel as if he were burning up.

He asked Chu Ci, “Do you not want this?”

“Hmm?” Chu Ci slightly opened his eyes, thinking for a moment before understanding what the female zerg was saying, then slowly closed them again: “Too tired, maybe another time.”

Nuo Wei didn’t say anything.

Sleeping so close to a male zerg was absolutely against the female manual. The female zerg was just a tool; how could a tool have such intimate actions with its owner?

But Nuo Wei was just too exhausted. The warmth of the male zerg’s bedding felt soothing against his cold skin, and the male zerg’s arm was also very warm, holding him as though protected. He smelled the faint scent of the male zerg and quickly drifted into a deep, blissful sleep.

Chu Ci didn’t have it as easy.

He was a newly awakened adult male zerg, holding a silver-haired beauty with blue eyes in his arms, the two of them pressed closely together through a thin layer of pajamas. How could he bear this?

He couldn’t, but he had to. Nuo Wei was a patient—no, a sick zerg. If he woke up the sleeping sick zerg to do something, what kind of zerg scum would that make him?

He stared at the ceiling for a long while, finally gathering some drowsiness. With a heavy head, he eventually tilted it, resting it against Nuo Wei’s forehead, and fell asleep alongside him.

The next morning, it was Chu Ci who woke up first, even though he slept later.

He tilted his head; Nuo Wei was still resting in his arms, with a worn-out expression on his face. These past few days, the female zerg had obviously been put through a lot, revealing some signs of weakness—something rarely seen in the usually composed Nuo Wei.

Chu Ci moved slightly, wanting to get up, but his arm was half-pressed by Nuo Wei, and moving too much might wake up the female zerg.

He glanced up to see Nuo Wei with closed eyes, his slender, handsome brows furrowed, showing faint dark circles under his eyes. It was hard to imagine what cruel treatment had made this once carefree female zerg become this way.

Chu Ci sighed, and simply closed his eyes to go back to sleep.

This time, the nap wasn’t even finished before Nuo Wei woke up.

For a few moments, he was confused, his cyan eyes moving slightly from the ceiling of the hospital bed to the heart rate monitor beside it, gradually realizing.

He had already been released from the correctional facility and was now on the male master’s bed.

Everything from yesterday felt like a figment of an imagined dream. The female zerg even wondered if he had been tortured too severely, leading to a mental breakdown. Propping himself up with his arms, he tried to sit up but froze when he felt a soft touch under his shoulders.

What was he pressing against?

An arm… Whose arm?

The female zerg suddenly woke up, crumbling, and silently slid off the bed, adjusting his posture to kneel beside it.

Even the most favored female zerg didn’t dare sleep with his head on a male zerg’s arm.

The days in the detention room greatly dulled the female zerg’s senses, to the point that he had slept on the male master’s arm without even realizing it. Nuo Wei secretly resented his carelessness; if the male had woken up first, he didn’t know what would have happened.

Chu Ci feigned sleep with his eyes closed. If he woke up now, he’d likely scare the female zerg to death.

Nuo Wei quietly knelt there for a while, his gaze occasionally darting over the male master’s arm. Zerg males were delicate, and their skin marked easily. He stared at a small red mark, then suddenly reached out, lightly placing his hand on the male master’s arm.

… No pins and needles, right?

Nuo Wei’s sleeping position was very proper, most of his weight resting on the pillow, and Chu Ci’s arm was barely pressed against the curve of his neck—barely at all.

But Nuo Wei didn’t know that; he lowered his eyes, gently moving his fingers, massaging that small patch of muscle for the male master. His movements were soft and cautious, like a rabbit peeking out of its burrow; at the slightest movement from the male, he would quickly draw back.

The movement was too light and gentle for Chu Ci’s comfort; he felt a faint itch.

After a moment of patience, with the red mark nearly gone, Chu Ci couldn’t stand it anymore. He rolled over, grabbed the female zerg’s hand, and slightly lifted his eyelids, asking, “What are you doing?”

The female zerg’s fingers trembled and he remained silent.

According to the Female Monarch Manual, failing to respond when a male master speaks is a grave sin, yet his current situation, if he did speak, would still be a grave sin. Nuo Wei lowered his head, silent as a statue, kneeling there.

Nuo Wei was never the type of female zerg who was likable; although he was handsome, he was too awkward. Female Zergs were supposed to learn how to show weakness to a male master during punishment—maybe even cry with a tearful face—but Nuo Wei couldn’t do those things. In the long silence, he slowly curled his fingers and finally spoke in a low voice, “I’ve offended you, please punish me.”

It was as if he only knew this one phrase.

In just two short days, Chu Ci had lost count of how many times Nuo Wei had apologized. He squeezed the female zerg’s fingers and played with them. “Hmm, tell me how you’ve offended me?”

The female zerg’s fingers were white and slender, with slightly calloused fingertips and clear, beautiful knuckles, more attractive than hand models

Nuo Wei dared not move; his hand that was caught was relaxed, allowing the male to play with it, while his other hand, hidden in his sleeve, gradually tightened, revealing blue veins on the back.

“I pressed against you.”

“You pressed against me?” Chu Ci feigned surprise. “How come I didn’t know?”

Nuo Wei said nothing.

He fell silent again awkwardly; if it were one of those well-behaved, rule-following female zergs, they would have nestled into the male’s embrace, whispering softly, begging for leniency. But Nuo Wei just knelt there, his long lashes drooping like delicate fans, looking like a finely made doll.

Fortunately, at that moment, there were three knocks at the door. The attending physician, holding the case file, pushed the door open and nodded toward the male zerg on the bed. “Mr. Chu Ci, your check-up is ready. Shall we begin?”

Chu Ci released the female zerg’s hand. “Let’s go.”

After the results from the last checkup came out, the attending physician adamantly refused to believe the results were accurate. Despite Chu Ci’s insistence otherwise, the doctor demanded a second check-up before release. Chu Ci, familiar with the process, sat in the wheelchair as the staff pushed him to the examination room.

As soon as he entered the examination room, Chu Ci was stunned.

This time the scale was even larger; there were a dozen white-clad experts, and as soon as they heard the door open, they turned their heads and focused their sharp, inquiring eyes on the male zerg in the wheelchair, making the examination feel like a full-blown interrogation.

Male zerg: “…”

His hand slightly trembled as he thought, “Oh god, is my time really up?'”
