Chu Ci was selecting gems in Admiral Erwen’s gem vault.

He was not interested in these flashy things at all, but it felt rude to refuse. The adjutant accompanied Chu Ci, while Erwen’s robot butler led the way, its cold electronic voice describing the treasures of the male.

“This is a faceted gem from Planet 3-8371, richly colored, with perfect craftsmanship, weighing 33.76 carats…”

They had passed half of the display cases when the male occasionally paused to admire, marveling at the fire of those stones, yet showing no intention of picking any, like a tourist visiting a museum.

Yi Ta fell half a step behind the male. “Sir, do you have a preference for any particular type of gem?”

In case the male took too long and did not find anything he liked, Yi Ta would have a hard time handling the ire of the major general’s male.

Chu Ci pondered for a moment. “Do you have any in a cyan color?”

The color of Nuo Wei’s eyes, like the deep blue of the mountains after the rain.

He didn’t have any special preference for gems, but Nuo Wei’s eyes were so stunningly beautiful. When he quietly gazed at Chu Ci, the color in his eyes outshone any gem.

“There is one.” The robot rolled along. “In the vault, there’s a 19-carat cyan stone, exactly that shade.”

The robot led Chu Ci to the display case. “Please look, it’s this one.”

Chu Ci crouched down, meeting the shimmering gem through the glass, and then nodded. “That’s the one.”

The robot quickly retrieved the stone from the display case, carefully wrapped it in soft silk, and handed it to the male, leading everyone back to the banquet hall.

Admiral Erwen had already checked on the condition of the female. Nuo Wei was somewhat weak, but his overall condition was much better than Erwen had expected. His wings were completely intact, and the wounds on his back had healed almost completely—Erwen had even prepared a treatment pod, purchasing the highest-quality royal exclusive healing fluid at a premium, intending to put the female inside for healing while the male was selecting the gem.

He patted the female’s shoulder. “Your male is rather lenient. The most important thing now is the seven-day retrospective period and your mental rage. Both of these are related to your male, Nuo Wei. Whatever it takes, within seven days, make him touch you, do you understand?”

Nuo Wei bit his lip. “Understood.”

At nine in the evening, dinner was over. Due to the male’s politeness and cooperation, none of the various emergencies Admiral Erwen had rehearsed beforehand occurred. He neither opened his mouth to insult the imperial admiral at the table nor did he require the female to kneel and lick the dining tray like other males. Quite the contrary, his dining etiquette was impeccable, rivaling even the manners of noble females.

Under the light of the full moon, Erwen personally escorted them to the flying vehicle.

Chu Ci was not happy about it.

In Chu Ci’s view, Erwen was Nuo Wei’s uncle, almost like a father-in-law. Showing such a flashy flying vehicle to a father-in-law was embarrassing. Fortunately, Erwen had seen it all before; he didn’t flinch at the garish yellow flying vehicle, even sincerely complimenting, “Sir’s aesthetic taste is quite unconventional.”

The male can’t catch the hidden meaning in words. To them, “unconventional” means their taste is being praised. Chu Ci’s lips twitched. “You flatter me.”

He and Nuo Wei boarded the flying vehicle together. After the unexpected incident on the way there, Chu Ci didn’t dare bring up automatic driving again, instead quietly playing on his light brain in his seat.

After his awakening, the Empire provided him with a welfare apartment, but it wasn’t in the core area of the Empire, and its amenities were lacking. The house he currently lives in was bought by Nuo Wei—a three-story, garden villa.

Nuo Wei parked the flying vehicle in the courtyard, got out first, and then opened the passenger side door, reaching out to help the male out.

But Chu Ci didn’t give him a chance. As soon as the door opened, he bent his knee and jumped down.

Nuo Wei’s hand froze in mid-air.

He hesitated, moved his fingers slightly, then lowered his hand and followed Chu Ci a step behind. “Sir, please be careful.”

Chu Ci didn’t want to be a helpless male who needed help to get out of the vehicle. He patted the dust off his knee. “Let’s go.”

Once they stepped inside the house, Nuo Wei knelt on the floor in the entryway, taking a pair of soft slippers from the shoe cabinet and bending down to touch the male’s feet.

“Eh, eh, no.”

Nuo Wei’s fingers brushed against Chu Ci’s ankle, causing goosebumps to rise all over his body. Chu Ci stepped back, shaking off the female’s hand. “You can change your own. I don’t need your help.”

Nuo Wei paused for a moment before replying, “Understood.”

Chu Ci sank into the sofa, enveloped by its soft, fuzzy material. He was desperate to know just how many flying vehicles he had actually bought, so he beckoned to the robot housekeeper. “San San, come here.”

Zerg technology was highly advanced, and nearly every household had a robot housekeeper—a central system akin to human smart home hubs, controlling the entire residence.

Admiral Erwen’s housekeeper was a cold, boxy metal construct, but Chu Ci’s was much cuter. It was round and chubby, resembling BB-8 from Star Wars, painted in a creamy beige. When the robot heard his call, it rolled over with a clatter. “Master, what are your orders?”

Chu Ci said, “Open the garage projection.”

Male Zergs weren’t known for their memory, and Chu Ci couldn’t recall how many flashy flying vehicles he had purchased.

San San projected a hologram of the garage in front of him. “Here is your garage.”

The male’s collection was truly impressive, and his taste was certainly unique. Chu Ci scrolled from one end to the other, then back again, finally spotting one vehicle that was visually tolerable amidst the sea of garish red, yellow, and blue.

Tucked into a corner of the garage was a flying vehicle with a sleek, silver-white body and streamlined curves. Its rotating, wing-style gullwing doors made it look even cooler than the most expensive supercars on Earth.

Chu Ci shifted his gaze, pulling the flying vehicle closer to get a better look.

Nuo Wei stood behind the sofa, speaking at the right moment. “This is the old model S-915 from the Galactic series. A new model is available now. If you like, you can purchase one.”

Chu Ci rubbed his nose. “No need.”

The household already had over a dozen flying vehicles; Chu Ci wasn’t that wasteful.

This was the third rejection from the male.

Nuo Wei lowered his head, remaining silent, standing like a sculpture in place.

The male was clearly fond of the display, his eyes glued to the S-915, inspecting the vehicle from top to bottom, then back again for a full three minutes—clearly liking it. The last time the male selected a flying vehicle, it only took 30 seconds. So why did he refuse to purchase the new model now?

Chu Ci turned to look at Nuo Wei, seeing the Major General standing woodenly behind him. Confused, he asked, “What are you standing around for? Come sit.”

For a moment, Nuo Wei felt an urge to blurt out, ‘Can you please tell me what I did wrong?’

The male had overlooked protective failures and forgave his unwillingness to cooperate, so why was the male’s attitude suddenly so cold today?

But that question sounded like an accusation, and Nuo Wei ultimately didn’t ask it. He obediently straightened up, avoiding the male’s questioning, and changed the subject. “Sir, can I return to the military tomorrow?”

Admiral Erwen sent over a valuable gemstone, his core request being to have Nuo Wei return to the military.

He was one of the brightest young talents in the Empire. With time, he might take over Admiral Erwen’s position, commanding the entire military. Keeping him away from the military would be a loss for the entire Empire.

Chu Ci nodded. “Of course.”

Without the gemstone, he would have agreed for Nuo Wei to continue working anyway.

Nuo Wei thanked him. He opened his lightbrain and sent a document to Chu Ci. “If you have no objections to my reemployment, please sign at the bottom of the document.”

Chu Ci didn’t even bother to look, casually dragging it to the bottom and signing his name in a flowing script before clicking to upload. Almost simultaneously, the military’s acknowledgment document was sent to Nuo Wei’s lightbrain.

After finishing all that, Chu Ci yawned. “I’m so tired, I’m going to bed first.”

He’d slept on a single bed with Nuo Wei the previous night. While the male’s hospital bed was spacious, it was still a single bed, making it a bit cramped for two men, not to mention the beautiful distraction in his arms. Chu Ci slept extremely poorly, enduring both physical and mental discomfort. Now, just past ten o’clock, Chu Ci was exhausted.

Nuo Wei nodded. “Okay.”

After saying that, he knelt beside the sofa, extending one hand under Chu Ci’s knees and the other around his back, trying to lift him up.

The sudden loss of weight woke Chu Ci from his sleep. He pushed Nuo Wei’s arm away, struggling. “What are you doing?”

Most male Zerg aren’t as tall as females, which is why they often prefer the females to kneel. But Chu Ci is an exception—his and Nuo Wei’s heights are nearly equal, and he’s also tall. Being picked up bridal-style by Nuo Wei would leave Chu Ci’s face with nowhere to hide.

Nuo Wei was momentarily stunned, as though shocked by Chu Ci’s reaction. He quickly withdrew his arm and settled back on his knees, apologizing, “I’m sorry, I misunderstood. Please punish me.”

Male Zerg are generally lazy, unwilling even to climb stairs. Chu Ci’s room is on the second floor, and when he said he was going to bed, Nuo Wei naturally assumed he needed to be carried.

Chu Ci felt his cheeks heat up. He was a grown man who had never been carried by a woman, yet here he was almost being cradled like one. He hastily waved his hand. “No need, I can walk myself.”

After saying that, Chu Ci quickly stood up from the sofa and hurried upstairs, shutting the door behind him with a click.

With the male Zerg gone, the living room instantly felt empty and cold.

Nuo Wei, having come from a military background, had lived in military dormitories before marrying a male. He’s not used to staying at home often, and the décor in his villa is simple and cold with large, empty spaces. However, when the male moved in, he filled those spaces with various flashy items, like scattered snacks on the table and a candy-colored plush sofa in the center.

Nuo Wei stood in the living room for a moment, then remembered Admiral Erwen’s instructions. He methodically cleaned himself according to the female monarch manual before going upstairs and knocking on Chu Ci’s bedroom door.

“My Lord, do you need me to serve you?”

Chu Ci was too sleepy and groggy to clearly hear what the female was saying. He pulled the blanket over his head. “No need.”

As expected.

The male Zerg’s moods were as elusive as a moon illusion on water, and today he could still hold the female’s hand in full view without a second thought. But after just one dinner, everything seemed to change.

Nuo Wei turned and went downstairs to start his routine tasks. First, he programmed the robot maid, then activated the fresh air system, and finally took Chu Ci’s coat from the coat rack, laying it flat on the laundry sink.

Zerg technology was advanced, allowing most garments to be thrown into a washing machine for self-cleaning. Only a few needed special care, such as this expensive suit jacket of the male, which had delicate fabric requiring a specific fabric softener before washing.

Nuo Wei expertly laid the coat flat, pouring the softener over it. As he ran his fingers over the pockets, he suddenly felt something hard and took it out. It was a business card, belonging to Kaier Ennuo, a graduate of the Empire’s top military academy, now serving as the chief physician in the neurology department of the Empire’s central hospital.

The picture on the card showed a quiet, gentle smile from Kaier, looking directly at the camera.
