SABL Chapter 77

It was okay when he didn’t mention it. Shi Yi’s expression immediately sank when he brought it up. “It has nothing to do with me.”

Anyway, theirs was just a contractual marriage based on mutual benefit. When the time comes, they will separate and go their own ways. It’s reasonable for Lu Yunye to find someone else.

Shi Yi wanted to push him away, but the alpha was tall and strong, overshadowing him and not allowing him to hide.

“Why does it have nothing to do with you?” Lu Yunye’s tone turned serious.

Shi Yi took a deep breath: “We…”

“I like you.”

The two spoke at the same time, preventing Shi Yi from hearing what the other party said. In other words, he couldn’t believe what he heard and treated it as an auditory hallucination.

“Shi Yi, I like you.” Lu Yunye repeated again. “I want to pursue you.”

The sun, which was concealed by the high and low buildings, emerged at this time, smashing onto the ground, and filling the skies with infinite warm red.

Through the thin wrist in his hand, Lu Yunye could feel Shi Yi trembling.

“Shi Yi, did you hear that?” He whispered, ready to repeat his words again until Shi Yi agreed. “I…”

“Calm down first.” Shi Yi interrupted him.

Lu Yunye’s heart suddenly turned cold. What kind of reply is this? Doesn’t Shi Yi like him?

The top alpha, who was able to handle all kinds of crisis situations with ease, froze. The romantic dreams of kisses and hugging shattered into dust. He never imagined waiting for an answer to be so difficult.

“Too many things happened recently,” Shi Yi’s voice was soft but steady, “and your susceptibility period might have caused you to make some wrong judgments.”

“I’m very calm, and I’ve thought about it seriously!” Lu Yunye interrupted eagerly, as if he would be left behind if Shi Yi continued. “I like you, Shi Yi, and I want you to be my omega.”

“Lu Yunye, you’ve crossed the line.” Shi Yi said calmly. “In our agreement, we are only married on paper, and will have no emotional entanglement with the other party within three years. You wrote it yourself, have you forgotten?”

“You said you have someone you’ve liked for a long time. You’ve only been with me for six months, how can you be certain?”

“You like me only because we’ve been together recently. AOs are attracted to each other instinctively, and would feel the same thing with any other omega.”

Shi Yi clenched his fist with one hand and propped himself against the table, trying to stabilize the shaking.

His personality and character is not likable. With his hateful alpha father, burdensome sick omega father, and disabled glands, ordinary people will only look at him with sympathy and pity.

He is not even comparable to a regular omega with strange smelling pheromones. If it were not for Lu Yunye, Shi Jinpeng would still be around haunting him.

But this doesn’t mean that he doesn’t want to receive the love of a top alpha. Lu Yunye has had someone in his heart for years; how can he let go so easily after a few months and like him, a crippled omega?

He thought he might also like Lu Yunye a little, but only a little. Otherwise why would he be so sad when he refused.

It’s just that he doesn’t have the confidence to accept the other party’s love, because sooner or later Lu Yunye will regret it, and things will come to an ugly end.

After being alone for so many years, Shi Yi has not become stronger at all. All he managed was to build a thick shell to barely protect his useless self-esteem, but even so, Lu Yunye chiseled through a corner.

The alpha in front of him fell silent. Shi Yi couldn’t help but smile wryly – he really isn’t likable. Lu Yunye was full of expectation when expressing his love, and must be very disappointed to hear his rejection.

He has seen Lu Yunye’s arrogance before, but some things must be said in advance, otherwise he may become too addicted to the illusion.

“I’m sorry,” Shi Yi’s voice trembled, and he wanted to run away.

Lu Yunye stretched out an arm, forcefully stopping him, and pulled him into his arms. It was only then that Shi Yi realized that he didn’t have much strength, and could only stand firm with the support of the other party.

“I know what you think,” Lu Yunye said softly, his voice was very slow, as if he was retelling a long story. “When I was young, my glands developed slowly, and I always felt inferior to others. They said I was a waste, a bastard, and I had low self-esteem during that time.”

“The family tests showed that I was a top-level alpha, so I studied hard. But it was painful whenever I couldn’t meet the high expectations of the people around me.”

Shi Yi was slightly surprised. He didn’t expect that such a top alpha, who seemed to have lived a smooth life and had such a successful career, had such a gloomy past.

“That’s when I met him.” Lu Yunye’s voice still didn’t fluctuate much, but Shi Yi’s heart tightened slightly. He knew that it must be that omega Lu Yunye had been missing for more than ten years.

“No matter how miserable I was, he always smiled at me. When I lost a fight, he didn’t dislike me. He even took off his most precious accessories and gave them to me. A small cake can coax him to smile… It was he who accompanied me through my most difficult days.”

“That’s why I’m grateful to him, and have been looking for him. If I can meet him, I will sincerely say thank you.”

“He helped me grow up, but you are different.” Lu Yunye hugged him tighter. “Shi Yi, you taught me to love.”

“My love for you is simple. I want to protect you and possess you.” Lu Yunye took a deep breath and looked at the two rabbits on the cake. “Someone told me not to give up hope that the peach tree planted in winter will bear blossoms in the new year…”

“And now, I want to pick all the peach blossoms and give them to you.”

Shi Yi slightly opened his eyes wide, forcing tears not to fall. The embrace around his body gradually relaxed. It was completely dark outside the window, so they couldn’t see each other’s expressions clearly, but Lu Yunye stretched out his hand accurately and wiped away his tears.

“You’re right. I did cross the line.” Lu Yunye leaned over and pressed his forehead against his. “A top alpha can control the range of their pheromones, but I can’t control my feelings for you.”

“I will divorce you, and appear in front of you as a brand new suitor.”

“Are you crazy?!” Shi Yi blurted out.

Feiyi is now an independent company that can operate independently and is about to go public. After giving up on being CEO, Lu Yunye really will get nothing from this marriage.

If their marriage agreement is followed to the letter, the one who breaches the agreement will not be able to claim anything, and automatically give up any joint property.

This is not a decision a top alpha should make.

However, Lu Yunye just smiled lightly and said, “Mother also told me earlier to give you the villa. After the divorce, can you not drive me out to sleep on the street, boyfriend?”

“Who wants your house!” Shi Yi was like a cat whose fur exploded from having its tail stepped on, completely unaware of why things turned in such a radical direction.

But Lu Yunye really took responsibility for his words and deeds.

After Shi Yi signed a bunch of documents, he went to the Civil Affairs Bureau alone, and exchanged the red books[mfn]marriage/household document[/mfn] for two green books. At the same time, the house deed, car deeds, and proceeds from stocks and bonds under Lu Yunye’s name purchased during their marriage were packaged and sent to Shi Yi.

By the time he realized that he was completely free, Shi Yi’s eyes were full of confusion.

Just half a year ago, he was looking forward to this day. He wanted to have an independent company, he wanted to bring his dad out, and he wanted to be free of Shi Jinpeng… These wishes, which seemed almost impossible at the time, unexpectedly came true without him realizing.

But he didn’t feel as happy as he imagined.

Like a traveler walking in a snowy field being suddenly told the trip is over and can take the prize and go anywhere…

He doesn’t have to worry anymore, and doesn’t have to be afraid of losing himself from being too dependent on another person… But what came with freedom was endless emptiness. It was like being plunged into an endless snow-covered pine forest, wanting to get rid of something, but every breath was filled with reminders of that person.

Seeing the other party’s expression of being at a loss, Lu Yunye felt distressed.

He knows how difficult it is for Shi Yi to get to where he is today. His dad was bedridden all year round, and he was often harassed by his biological father. When he closes his eyes, he can imagine Shi Yi being ridiculed because of his incomplete glands, being intimidated or looked down upon by businessmen all day because of his omega status, and unable to rely on anyone.

Shi Yi is like a kitten abandoned shortly after birth. The harsh environment taught him to be cautious, indifferent and distant, and protect himself with a hard shell. But suddenly, one day, a pair of hands appeared, caressing him gently, sheltering him from the wind and rain, and took out many small dried fish for him to eat.

Protected by those hands, Shi Yi occasionally forgot he was originally a stray kitten, and learned to express his dissatisfaction with his paws. After living comfortably for a while, he suddenly found that the hands he grew dependent on vanished.

He is not one of those pet cats who can act cute to get food easily. He is a stray who grew up alone; being too dependent on someone will only make him lose the ability to survive.

So he subconsciously refused and is afraid.

Lu Yunye doesn’t mind Shi Yi’s refusal. Abducting a stray cat home naturally requires infinite patience. After he finds out that his love is strong enough to feed him dried fish for a lifetime, he will naturally come back.

So he reached out and hugged him: “Don’t run away so soon, okay?”
