He entwined his legs around Zero’s from the outside and gripped the collar of his shirt. Then, using the full force of his body, he flipped them both over.

Now, straddling Zero as he lay on his back, Kagura straightened up.

With his hair falling over his face, he looked down at Zero.

Zero blinked slowly, then curled his mouth into a mocking grin.

“Finally feeling it, huh?”

He spread his arms and legs exaggeratedly, lying open as if to taunt him.

Kagura reached back to grab Zero’s wrist and pulled his finger out. He then rolled off to lie next to Zero.

He hadn’t lost, but he hadn’t won either.

The muscles in his arms and legs trembled in the aftershocks of pleasure.

He rubbed his face firmly with his hand.

The air around him was thick with Zero’s bittersweet scent.

That scent was now completely tied to pleasure in Kagura’s mind.

“Hey, Kagura.”

Zero’s voice came from beside him.

For a second, it felt strange―――until he realised it was because he’d been called by name.

“What?”

He replied, still staring up at the ceiling.

“Why are you so fixated on the Eastern Alliance?”

“Because it’s my job.”

“If you’re with Organized Crime Division Section 2, your main focus should be foreign syndicates. There must be a reason you’d go this far to gather info on the Eastern Alliance.”

He was sharp.

But Kagura had no intention of sharing the depths of his motives with Zero.

Without answering, he got up.

“I’m leaving. I’ll contact you again. If you need anything, feel free to reach out too.”

“Just got back?”

Sanae Suguru, who had just entered the elevator in Kagura’s apartment building, held a convenience store bag in his hand.

“Yeah, something like that.”

Only a few minutes ago, he’d been with a man, engaged in something as intense as it was surreal. Yet now, in the familiar surroundings of his apartment, it felt almost unreal. Still, the lingering warmth clinging to his core wasn’t fading, even in the cold December air.

“Huh?”

Sanae twitched his nose like a small animal as he leaned closer.

Under his coat, Kagura’s dress shirt was still stained with the scent of his and Zero’s fluids. He braced himself, wondering if Sanae had picked up on the smell.

“Are you wearing cologne?”

“…”

Having left immediately after his rendezvous with Zero, Kagura’s clothes must have picked up that faint, bittersweet scent.

“Oh, I see. So that’s what it is,” Sanae said, looking pleased with his deduction.

“You put it on for a date, didn’t you? I’m relieved to see you have that normal side, too, Kagura.”

The elevator doors opened. As Sanae exited on the fifth floor, he turned back toward him, bowed slightly, and said, “I’m off, then. Good night.”

When he reached his own apartment upstairs, Kagura dropped his coat in the hallway and headed straight to the bathroom.

He showered thoroughly, washing his body with care. But even then, he couldn’t completely rid the lingering scent of Zero from deep in his nose.

*Translator’s Note: Well, Kagura has a reason to pursue the Eastern Alliance. A heartbreaking one. -K
