SWMSO – Chapter 10

Upon hearing the word “bastard,” Jiang Qionghua’s face hardened.

Gripping Jiang Yi’s arm, she stepped forward, looked coldly at Mrs. Song on the sofa, and said, “I’m not sure how you raise your child, Mrs. Song, but teaching her to use such vulgar language is appalling. I’ll have to reconsider sending my child to a school with such questionable morals.”

“As for your children’s injuries, I’ll have my lawyer contact you regarding compensation.”

Jiang Qionghua felt keeping Jiang Yi here any longer was a mistake. Taking a deep breath, she turned to Director Li. “Handle Jiang Yi’s punishment as you see fit. I don’t want my child remaining in this environment.”

Jiang Yi looked at Jiang Qionghua in surprise, not expecting such a forceful response. The next moment, she was being pulled out of the office by her arm. “Let’s go home,” Jiang Qionghua said.

Jiang Yi blinked, mumbled “Oh,” and followed her out.

Ning Wenying, seeing Jiang Qionghua’s genuine anger, didn’t intervene. She took Jiang Sixian’s hand and followed.

Director Li, flustered, rose from the sofa and hurried after them. “Ms. Jiang! Ms. Jiang!”

Jiang Qionghua, however, was done talking. She pulled Jiang Yi to the elevator. As they waited, Director Li rushed over, but Jiang Qionghua, quick as a flash, pressed the close button, shutting the director out.

Jiang Yi, watching the director’s panicked expression through the closing doors, couldn’t help but chuckle.

Hearing her laugh, Jiang Qionghua turned and glared. “You still have the nerve to laugh? Look at yourself!”

Jiang Yi, expecting a scolding, quickly defended herself. “I may be bruised, but I didn’t lose the fight! They attacked me first. It’s not my fault.”

Jiang Qionghua looked at the injuries on her face, finding each one more irritating than the last. “This isn’t about who’s right or wrong! You practice Sanda and still ended up like this? Was your training a joke? Four girls, and you let them do this to you?”

Jiang Yi finally understood the source of Jiang Qionghua’s anger—embarrassment. Jiang Qionghua felt humiliated that her daughter, a Sanda practitioner, had gotten beaten up. Slinging her backpack over one shoulder, Jiang Yi grinned. “It was a tight space, bumps and bruises are unavoidable. Plus, I held back because they’re girls. I didn’t hit their faces…”

Seizing the opportunity, Jiang Yi boldly asked, “Will I be expelled for this? If so, just send me to a regular public school. I don’t like being surrounded by so many ‘ladies.'”

Standing beside her, Jiang Sixian glanced at the seemingly arrogant delinquent. She noticed the hopeful glint in Jiang Yi’s eyes. It seemed Jiang Yi genuinely wanted to be expelled.

Jiang Qionghua, however, misinterpreted this entirely. Her face darkened as she declared, “Expelled? Don’t even dream of it! You think my donations were for nothing?”

Jiang Yi’s eyes widened. “Oh, you donated? How much?”

“How much is none of your business! If those brats bother you again, fight back! I’ll cover the medical bills!” Jiang Qionghua fumed. “Back in my day, no one dared mess with me! Who does Song Wei think he is? His daughter actually…”

Just as the elevator doors were about to open, and Jiang Qionghua was on the verge of losing control, Ning Wenying placed a hand on her forehead and intervened. “Qionghua, listen to what Xiao Yi has to say before making decisions.”

The doors opened, and they stepped out. Ning Wenying turned to Jiang Yi. “What do you think, Xiao Yi? Do you still want to stay at this school?”

Compared to the impulsive Jiang Qionghua, Ning Wenying was a calming presence. Being around her felt like a gentle breeze.

Jiang Yi smiled. “Auntie Ning, I don’t really care about staying here. This school’s atmosphere isn’t for me.”

“Why not?” Ning Wenying patiently inquired.

Jiang Qionghua and Jiang Sixian both looked at her, waiting for an answer.

Glancing at the silent Jiang Sixian, Jiang Yi lied, “Because it’s all girls! I don’t like being surrounded by girls. I can’t even see any cute guys.”

Ning Wenying was momentarily taken aback, then she chuckled. “That’s true… I hadn’t considered that you might not enjoy an all-girls environment. If that’s the case, transferring to a public school is an option. It’s not too late.”

Before Ning Wenying could finish, Jiang Qionghua’s face darkened, and she raised her voice. “Absolutely not!”

Her tone was firm, almost frantic. “You’re still so young, not even differentiated yet! What kind of co-ed school?! What if those bad kids influence you? What if you start dating?! No way! I won’t allow it!”

Jiang Qionghua grew increasingly agitated. “You can’t even handle those girls, what if you provoke some two-faced Beta boy in a co-ed school?! What if you get bullied?!”

Jiang Yi was exasperated. “Can you stop overthinking? Are you going through menopause or something?” She just wanted to escape Jiang Sixian’s presence, was that too much to ask?

Jiang Qionghua ignored her sarcasm, continuing her rant. “No means no! And you need to find a better instructor to learn self-defense. Kids these days are too dangerous!”

Jiang Yi found her words irritating. “I’ve always been fine. You shouldn’t have transferred me in the first place! You didn’t even ask if I wanted to come here!”

Jiang Qionghua countered, “Your previous school had a bad reputation, full of delinquents and thugs. What if you’d been corrupted?”

Jiang Yi retorted, “How do you know I wasn’t already corrupting them? I’ve done this kind of thing before, what’s your problem with me?! I am a bad kid, a bully! You put me here, I’ll tear this school apart sooner or later!”

Jiang Qionghua, surprisingly, found this agreeable. “Then tear it apart! I have plenty of money for you to tear it apart!”

Her tone implied, “Mommy’s got your back.”

Jiang Yi was thoroughly annoyed. “I don’t want to talk to you anymore. You’re so annoying.”

Jiang Qionghua bristled. “What do you mean you don’t want to talk to me? What’s your attitude?!”

Jiang Yi rubbed her temples, unwilling to argue further. Feeling a headache coming on, she simply leaned her head against her hand and refused to speak.

Ning Wenying, finding the situation amusing, finally intervened as they neared the school gate. “Alright, alright, you two stop arguing.”

Jiang Yi complained, “Auntie Ning, I didn’t want to argue. She started it.”

Jiang Qionghua sputtered, “I… I was…”

Seeing Jiang Qionghua about to continue, Ning Wenying stopped her, turning to Jiang Yi with a gentle smile. “Alright, let’s not talk about it anymore. How are your injuries, Xiao Yi? Anything hurt besides your face? Let’s go to the hospital.”

At this, Jiang Qionghua also remembered Jiang Yi’s injuries. “Yes, let’s go to the hospital.” She glanced at the quiet Jiang Sixian. “Wenying-jie, why don’t you and Xianxian go home? I’ll take her to the hospital.”

Only then did Jiang Qionghua realize they had completely ignored Jiang Sixian since meeting. Feeling embarrassed, she quickly said, “I’m so sorry, Xianxian. I was supposed to take you home for dinner, but this happened… I forgot to introduce you. This is Jiang Yi, my…daughter…”

Jiang Sixian raised her eyes, finally looking at Jiang Yi.

Jiang Qionghua pulled Jiang Yi closer, making the introductions with forced enthusiasm. “Jiang Yi, this is Xianxian… your Auntie Ning’s daughter. Say hello.”

What a disastrous “blended family” meeting.

Jiang Yi sighed, finally looking at Jiang Sixian. “We’ve already met,” she said flatly.

Jiang Yi looked up at Ning Wenying. “She even called the teacher in the cafeteria today. If it weren’t for her, this would have been much worse.”

Jiang Yi tilted her chin towards Jiang Sixian. “Right, Jiang Sixian?”

She deliberately used a haughty tone when saying Jiang Sixian’s name. Jiang Sixian, taken aback, nodded slightly. “Yes, you could say that.”

Jiang Qionghua hadn’t heard about this. Hearing their exchange, she felt relieved that the two girls seemed to be getting along. She looked at Jiang Sixian with a mix of joy and nervousness. “Really? Thank you so much, Xianxian. I’ll buy you a small gift as a thank you.”

Jiang Yi cringed internally at this blatant attempt to win over her “stepdaughter.” This “soon-to-be stepmother” trying to please the “stepdaughter” scene was too much to bear.

Jiang Sixian, accustomed to Jiang Qionghua’s friendliness, smiled faintly. “It’s nothing, Auntie Qionghua. Helping classmates is what I should do.”

Jiang Yi clicked her tongue, thinking, what a good student.

She nodded and said to Jiang Qionghua, “Yes, helping each other is the spirit of modern young women.”

She paused, then continued, “I’m not really hurt. No need for the hospital. Isn’t today Auntie Ning and Xianxian’s first day moving in? It wouldn’t be right to take me to the hospital now.”

Besides, she was starving. After all the commotion, Jiang Yi’s stomach was rumbling. She made the decision for everyone. “Let’s go home and eat. I didn’t finish lunch, and I’m really hungry. Xianxian, are you hungry too?”

For the sake of food, she decided to recruit an ally.

Unfortunately, the ally wasn’t on her side. “I’m fine, not really hungry. If you’re hungry, you can get takeout and eat at the hospital. Your health is more important.”

Jiang Yi frowned at Jiang Sixian, thinking, so unhelpful.

Pest!

Jiang Sixian looked away, pretending not to see, but a faint smile played on her lips as she avoided Jiang Yi’s gaze.
