SWMSO – Chapter 39

Perhaps the word “impossible” didn’t exist in the little monitor’s dictionary. The next day during lunch break, the four Alphas dragged Jiang Yi to the pavilion between the cafeteria and the teaching building for dance practice. Their justification? As Alphas, they absolutely couldn’t lose face at the ball.

Jiang Yi was about to lose it. “I’m not even an Alpha!” She hadn’t even differentiated yet, let alone grown any strange body parts.

Ignoring her protests, the little monitor dragged her towards the pavilion.

It was winter, and the outdoors were chilly. But the little monitor, along with a group from Class B, surrounded the pavilion, watching as Chen Wanzhou held Jiang Yi, and declared solemnly, “Whether you’ve differentiated or not, you’re a member of Class B. Based on the principle of mutual support, we can’t abandon any classmate who’s falling behind!”

“Comrade Jiang Yi, with the help of our advanced team, you must study hard, strive for progress, and become the most dazzling girl at the ball!”

Jiang Yi, firmly held by Chen Wanzhou, turned to look at the little monitor, utterly speechless. “What ‘strive for progress’? What ‘most dazzling girl’? I don’t even want that! You just want to tease me and watch me make a fool of myself!”

Jiang Yi finished, then glanced at the Class B girls surrounding them, saying with disdain, “And you guys, isn’t it cold? Why are you all here watching me make a fool of myself?”

Her classmates, beaming, started cheering her on. “Jiang Yi, just dance! Chen Wanzhou is really good, she’ll teach you well…”

“Since you’re already here, just give it a try.”

Jiang Yi figured they were just bored high school students looking for some entertainment. And she was too free, falling for the little monitor’s tricks and letting Chen Wanzhou hold her captive like this.

Chen Wanzhou, still holding her waist, said with a smile, “Well, since we’re already here, let’s dance.”

The little monitor, standing beside the pavilion, clapped her hands and started chanting, “Dance! Dance!”

The surrounding students joined in, clapping rhythmically and chanting, “Jiang Yi, dance! Jiang Yi, dance!”

Jiang Yi’s head was spinning. Even Jin Duolai, usually on her side, was clapping and chanting, “Jiang Yi, do it! Jiang Yi, do it!”

Jiang Yi’s eyes nearly popped out. “Duolai, why are you joining in?!”

Jin Duolai smiled. “Because it’s fun! It’s fun doing this together!”

Jiang Yi was speechless. “Am I a circus monkey, here for your entertainment?”

Despite her words, she placed her hand on Chen Wanzhou’s shoulder, her expression a mix of resignation and defiance. “Fine, fine, whatever makes you happy. Let’s do it. Besides being afraid of death, I’m not afraid of anything.”

Chen Wanzhou smiled. “That’s the spirit!”

Chen Wanzhou held her waist and instructed, “Alright, listen to my lead… left foot forward…”

Jiang Yi obediently followed, extending her left foot. Chen Wanzhou, holding her waist, began giving instructions, leading her through a waltz.

It was Jiang Yi’s first time, and she was clearly unskilled, her movements stiff and awkward. But she had good coordination and managed to keep up with Chen Wanzhou’s rhythm.

The onlookers were supportive, clapping rhythmically as they watched the two awkwardly dance.

Their antics attracted quite a bit of attention. Soon, the crowd grew larger.

Jiang Sixian and Tang Qing emerged from the cafeteria and saw the crowd gathered around the pavilion. They overheard snippets of conversation: “Jiang Yi, relax… relax…”

“Jiang Yi, you’re the follower, don’t be so aggressive…”

They were laughing and chatting, clearly enjoying themselves. Jiang Sixian stopped, instinctively looking towards the pavilion. Through the crowd, she saw Jiang Yi being held by Chen Wanzhou, awkwardly dancing, and bit her lip.

Tang Qing noticed her gaze and asked tentatively, “Xianxian, it seems lively over there. Do you want to go take a look?”

Jiang Sixian glanced at Jiang Yi again, saw the slightly embarrassed but happy smile on her face, and shook her head. “No, it’s cold outside. Let’s go back.”

Jiang Sixian led Tang Qing away.

The winter sky darkened quickly. By the time school ended, the horizon was covered in cold clouds, only a sliver of light filtering through.

Jiang Yi said goodbye to her friends at the school gate and got into the backseat of the car.

Shortly after, Jiang Sixian arrived, carrying her backpack.

Seeing her approach, Jiang Yi quickly reached out to take her bag, complaining, “Hurry up, hurry up, it’s freezing out here!”

Jiang Sixian, hearing her urgency, didn’t linger outside. She quickly got into the car and closed the door.

Click. The moment the door closed, the small car was filled with a sweet fragrance.

Jiang Yi immediately realized Jiang Sixian’s heat cycle was approaching. She froze for a moment, then looked up at Jiang Sixian and asked softly, “Did you bring your suppressants?”

Jiang Sixian blushed slightly and nodded. “Yes, I injected them.” She’d preemptively taken the suppressants, anticipating her heat. She’d assumed that way, Jiang Yi wouldn’t be able to detect her pheromones. But even with the suppressants, Jiang Yi had noticed immediately.

Logically, undifferentiated minors shouldn’t be so sensitive to pheromones. But Jiang Sixian had noticed that every time her heat approached, Jiang Yi could smell her.

This was strange.

Of course, Jiang Sixian didn’t dwell on it. Instead, she leaned closer to Jiang Yi, her earlobes red, and whispered, “Is it… unpleasant?”

Jiang Yi casually replied, “It’s fine. Just turn on the air filter.” She reached out, expertly activating the filter, clearing the air of Jiang Sixian’s scent.

Jiang Sixian pursed her lips, her hands clenching tightly in her lap.

Shortly after, Sister Xiao Qin, from the driver’s seat, reminded them to fasten their seatbelts and started driving home.

On the way, Jiang Yi, earbuds in, huddled in the corner playing games, occasionally sniffing the air. Jiang Sixian’s pheromones smelled so good, Jiang Yi couldn’t help but inhale deeply, like a puppy drawn to the aroma of delicious food.

However, to Jiang Sixian, Jiang Yi’s behavior seemed like she couldn’t tolerate her pheromones, even finding them unpleasant.

Jiang Sixian bit her lip, trying her best to suppress her pheromones, preventing them from leaking.

Gradually, the scent in the air weakened.

Jiang Yi, sniffing the air, noticed the fading fragrance and, sensing something was amiss, looked up at Jiang Sixian.

Jiang Sixian had been watching her. Seeing Jiang Yi look over, she’d actually hoped Jiang Yi would scold her, like before, saying, “What are you doing?”

She’d even secretly hoped Jiang Yi would notice her staring.

But Jiang Sixian’s skills were clearly lacking. Caught off guard by Jiang Yi’s question, “What’s wrong?” she instinctively started making excuses. “Nothing… I just remembered seeing you dancing with Chen Wanzhou earlier, and I was thinking… do you need a dance instructor?”

“Our school has a masquerade ball for New Year’s. Most of the students here have been together since kindergarten, so almost everyone knows how to dance. We’re used to these kinds of events…”

“So I was thinking, maybe you should find a dance instructor.”

Jiang Yi, holding her phone, thought about it and shook her head. “No need. That night, it’ll just be Chen Wanzhou and the others messing around. I’ll just be there to make up the numbers, go through the motions.”

Jiang Sixian looked at her seriously. “But Jiang Yi, someone might ask you to dance that night.”

Jiang Yi hadn’t considered this possibility. She thought about it and said, “Then I’ll just refuse. I don’t know how to dance anyway.”

Jiang Sixian said, “They’re all girls. You can’t just keep refusing everyone. I heard someone confessed to you before. There might be other girls who’ll be bold enough to ask you to dance. Would you really refuse them all?”

Jiang Yi didn’t even have to think about it. “That night, I’ll just wear a really ugly outfit and a really scary mask. That way, no one will ask me to dance. Besides, if someone asks you to dance, will you automatically agree?”

“Logically, you’re so popular at school, you’ll probably get even more invitations. Wouldn’t you refuse some of them?”

Jiang Sixian nodded thoughtfully. “That’s true…”

Jiang Yi snorted. “If you, a heartbreaker, aren’t worried, why should I be?”

Jiang Sixian froze, looking at Jiang Yi strangely. “Heartbreaker?”

Jiang Yi didn’t even turn her head. “Yeah, that’s what everyone calls you. If you don’t like it, you can also be called a ‘girl killer.'”

Jiang Sixian didn’t reply, just quietly watching Jiang Yi. She thought, if she were that kind of person, there was no way Jiang Yi wouldn’t have any feelings for her.

Seeing her silence, Jiang Yi looked up at her. “What? Do you think I’m wrong? Jiang Sixian, don’t tell me you have no self-awareness.”

Jiang Sixian nodded. “I think… you’re wrong. That description doesn’t suit me. It suits you better.”

“Jiang Yi, you’re the heartbreaker, the thief who steals hearts.”

Jiang Sixian’s expression was serious, her brows slightly furrowed, her eyes sparkling with a playful glint. She looked incredibly cute.

Jiang Yi’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly looked away, staring at her phone as she mumbled, “I’m hardly a heartbreaker. Chen Wanzhou said my reputation isn’t very good.”

“I’m a girl heart crusher.”

Jiang Sixian nodded, seemingly agreeing. “That’s true. Or you could also be called a heart arsonist.”
