SWMSO – Chapter 69

Jiang Yi noticed Jiang Sixian’s intriguing expression and felt her heart skip a beat. Could it be… did she name this horse?

Thinking it over carefully, Jiang Yi realized it was entirely possible. Based on her own naming conventions, she totally would have called this horse “Da Huang.”

Was the situation really that cliché? Was she actually a transmigrator who entered this world at birth?

Her mind was a chaotic mess, and she felt slightly unsettled. Covering her mouth with her hand, she coughed lightly and said to Jiang Sixian, “Alright, didn’t you say you wanted me to ride a few laps with you? Let’s get on the horses.”

Jiang Sixian gave her a knowing smile, took the reins from the attendant, and mounted Ta Xue.

Seeing her get on, Jiang Yi quickly climbed onto Da Huang. Side by side, they adjusted their pace and soon completed a full circle around the field.

Finding Da Huang’s stamina quite good, Jiang Yi asked, “How old are they?”

Jiang Sixian, bouncing slightly in the saddle with a graceful posture, turned her head toward Jiang Yi and raised her voice against the wind: “Da Huang is fifteen. Ta Xue is younger—only seven.”

Ta Xue was a horse Jiang Sixian had bought a couple of years ago. Her previous horse had grown too old to run properly, so she had retired it.

Jiang Yi thoughtfully patted Da Huang’s neck. “That’s pretty old, but still in its prime.”

Jiang Sixian nodded. “Yeah, Da Huang is getting up there. I have a newly purchased horse—want to switch and race me?”

Jiang Yi shook her head. “No need. If you want a race, I can compete with you on Da Huang.”

With that, the two urged their horses into a gallop. Worried about Da Huang’s stamina, Jiang Yi didn’t push too hard and soon fell behind, trailing Jiang Sixian.

Under the sunlight, Jiang Yi jostled in the saddle, staring at Jiang Sixian’s back when suddenly, a sense of déjà vu washed over her.

This scene felt familiar—as if, many years ago, there had been a girl in white and black, wearing a helmet as she rode a white steed.

Sunlight, green grass, the girl gripping the reins, leaning forward as the horse reared up and leaped over a hurdle.

Everything else was blurry, but etched into Jiang Yi’s memory was Jiang Sixian’s youthful, much colder profile.

Distracted, Jiang Yi’s doubts grew. Reality and illusion tangled in her mind, making her question whether her memories were faulty.

Soon, her wandering thoughts cost her the race.

When Jiang Sixian crossed the finish line, she tugged the reins, turning her horse to watch Jiang Yi lagging dozens of lengths behind. She waited patiently for her to catch up.

As Jiang Yi finally arrived, Jiang Sixian flashed her a bright smile. “I won.”

Seeing that radiant expression, Jiang Yi inexplicably recalled Jiang Sixian’s aloof younger face and thought, She’s so much cuter when she smiles.

She guided Da Huang alongside Jiang Sixian, both slowing to a leisurely walk. “Yeah, yeah, I lost. So what? It’s not like there were any stakes.”

Jiang Sixian tilted her head, still holding the reins. “No stakes? Who said that?”

Jiang Yi frowned. “We didn’t make any bets. How could there be consequences?”

Her memory wasn’t great, but she definitely remembered the last few minutes.

Jiang Sixian mumbled under her breath, “There was one. We agreed that if you lost, you’d let me ride you tonight.”

Wait—ride? Ride what?

Given how often Jiang Sixian had been spouting nonsense lately, Jiang Yi immediately grasped her meaning.

Her face flushed dark red. Glaring at Jiang Sixian, she hissed, “This is a public place! Can’t you—can’t you—”

Jiang Sixian blinked innocently. “Can’t I what?”

Jiang Yi was furious. “Have some decency! Who flirts like this all the time? And we never agreed to that!”

Ugh, she was so mad! Was she really this useless? Just because she was an ordinary pretty girl, did that mean she had to endure this teasing?

Humiliated and annoyed, Jiang Yi seethed internally.

Jiang Sixian chuckled and whispered, “We did. I said it in my heart, and you tacitly agreed.”

Jiang Yi couldn’t help but glance at her. The way she murmured so slyly was unbearably charming.

Even though she was clearly a little devil, she could also be unexpectedly pure. Jiang Yi didn’t know how to handle her.

Despite finding her so adorable that she’d agree to anything, Jiang Yi coughed lightly and said, “Tacit agreement my foot. Don’t be so presumptuous. Who said I’d agree?”

Jiang Sixian considered this and then asked straightforwardly, “Fine, no stakes. Then… can I ride you tonight?”

Jiang Yi’s heart skipped. She gaped at her.

Jiang Sixian suppressed a laugh and negotiated, “No riding? Then… biting?”

“Still no? How about just rubbing against you?”

Blood rushed to Jiang Yi’s head. Ahhh, I’m going crazy!

She took several deep breaths before saying, “Jiang Sixian, don’t think you can harass me just because you’re my boss. This is workplace sexual harassment—I could sue you!”

Jiang Sixian, clearly in high spirits today, grinned. “Oh? Then will you sue me?”

Jiang Yi felt like she was about to combust. Trying to calm her pounding heart, she gritted out, “Just you wait. There’ll be a day you cry.”

Ahhh, how cute—getting flustered and making empty threats.

Jiang Sixian flirted back, “Like how I cried the night before last? Please, give me more of that!”

Defeated, Jiang Yi nearly dragged her home right then and there to teach her a lesson.

Their verbal sparring was really just thinly veiled flirting. Soon, Jiang Sixian’s guest arrived ahead of schedule, and a staff member came to notify them.

The two rode back the way they came.

From a distance, Jiang Yi spotted a woman in a flamboyant dress, her hair in voluminous curls, standing beneath an umbrella held by a black-suited bodyguard. She wore sunglasses as she waited for them.

Jiang Yi sized her up and thought, This peacock is definitely an Alpha.

Sure enough, when they were about three or four horse-lengths away, Jiang Yi caught the woman’s scent and immediately wrinkled her nose.

Ugh, disgusting iris fragrance. A fellow Alpha.

The woman stepped out from under the umbrella, removing her sunglasses as she smiled at Jiang Sixian. “Sixian, wasn’t our appointment at three? You’re early. I’m sorry to have kept you waiting.”

Jiang Sixian reined in her horse, dismounting a short distance away. “I felt like riding, so I came ahead of time.”

The Alpha nodded, then turned her gaze to Jiang Yi, who had just dismounted. Her pupils contracted in shock before her polite smile transformed into stunned delight. “Jiang Yi!”

“Is that really you, Jiang Yi?”

The Alpha strode forward, reaching out to grab Jiang Yi’s arm.

Jiang Yi sidestepped, frowning at this vaguely familiar stranger. “What are you doing?” What was with the sudden physical contact?

Her hand empty, the Alpha hesitated, studying Jiang Yi’s face. “Jiang Yi, I’m Chen Wanzhou. Don’t you remember me?”

Jiang Yi truly didn’t recognize her. She glanced at Jiang Sixian questioningly—Was this one of Jiang Yi’s old friends?

Jiang Sixian sighed softly and stepped closer to explain, “She doesn’t remember the past, so it’s normal she wouldn’t recognize you.”

Then, taking Jiang Yi’s hand, she added, “This is Chen Wanzhou. Your former classmate.”

Oh, a classmate. They must have been close.

Jiang Yi extended her hand. “Hello, old classmate. Let me reintroduce myself—I’m Jiang Yi.”

Chen Wanzhou’s doubts faded. Regaining her composure, she smiled and shook Jiang Yi’s hand firmly. “Welcome back, Jiang Yi!”

Jiang Yi’s heart skipped. Wow, past me was really popular, huh?

Though thrilled to see Jiang Yi again, Chen Wanzhou and Jiang Sixian were both busy people. Having carved out time for this meeting, they couldn’t afford to waste it on catching up.

Jiang Sixian also didn’t want Chen Wanzhou getting too involved with Jiang Yi. Now that she had Jiang Yi back, every moment was precious—she wasn’t about to share her with old friends.

Cutting off Chen Wanzhou’s further questions, Jiang Sixian got straight to the point. “Time is limited. Let’s discuss the biopharmaceuticals. I’m interested in your company, but it depends on your offer.”

Chen Wanzhou looked between Jiang Yi and Jiang Sixian, her gaze lingering on their clasped hands. “My terms are the best in the industry—this is a win-win partnership. But…”

“I do have one presumptuous question.”

Jiang Sixian tightened her grip on Jiang Yi’s hand, her tone frosty. “If you know it’s presumptuous, don’t ask.”

Though more mature than in her youth, Chen Wanzhou couldn’t shake her gossipy nature. Grinning, she pointed at their hands. “I always thought you had a thing for Jiang Yi. So now… are you two together?”

Oh man, do I have to go tell Lin Yinxi that the ship she rooted for as a kid—where one lead lost her memory and got snatched up by the other—actually sailed?

Honestly, this drama is too juicy!
