SWMSO – Chapter 96

Extra 1: About Marriage

In the blink of an eye, it was New Year’s Day, and the weather in Yuncheng grew increasingly damp and cold. As she aged, Ning Wenying wasn’t very accustomed to Yuncheng’s chilly winters, so after the New Year, Jiang Qionghua took her on a vacation to the southern hemisphere.

Perhaps it was the incident with Jiang Yi years ago that had shaken Jiang Qionghua, who had always sailed smoothly through life. In recent years, she had shifted her focus away from her career and poured herself entirely into her family, essentially retiring early.

Though her retirement was far more eventful than most—alternating between skiing and surfing.

As the Spring Festival approached, Jiang Qionghua and Ning Wenying wanted to fly back to Yuncheng to celebrate the New Year with their children. However, considering the exhausting journey and Ning Wenying’s dislike for Yuncheng’s climate, Jiang Yi discussed it with Jiang Sixian and decided they would fly over to spend the holiday with their parents instead.

Jiang Qionghua was overjoyed by the news. After hanging up the phone, she kept chattering to Ning Wenying about how, even though Jiang Yi had lost her memory, she had finally grown up—much more considerate and adorable than before, actually knowing how to care for her now.

Ning Wenying sighed helplessly at her wife’s obvious delight. “Xiao Yi was always considerate of you.” It was just that Jiang Qionghua’s heart was bigger than her head, completely oblivious to it.

Muttering something like, “But she’s even more considerate now,” Jiang Qionghua picked up her phone and called her assistant to arrange for a shipment of ingredients, preparing to showcase her culinary skills and treat the two girls properly.

As the year drew to a close, Jiang Sixian gradually wrapped up her company affairs. Jiang Yi took her aboard a private jet and flew to Jiang Qionghua’s private island in the southern hemisphere.

Jiang Yi and Jiang Sixian arrived as promised and were warmly welcomed by Jiang Qionghua. On New Year’s Eve, Jiang Qionghua prepared a lavish feast, constantly piling food onto their plates until Jiang Yi nearly burst.

After dinner, the family of four, far from home, gathered in front of the TV as usual to watch the Spring Festival Gala. Jiang Qionghua, who placed great importance on family reunions, followed tradition by giving Jiang Yi and Jiang Sixian red envelopes. The two accepted them with thanks.

Jiang Qionghua beamed. “No need for thanks. In the new year, I just wish for you both to be safe and sound.”

Jiang Yi nodded, mustering her courage as she looked at Jiang Qionghua and Ning Wenying sitting across from them on the sofa. “Mm… Jiang… Mom and Ning Mom too.”

Jiang Qionghua and Ning Wenying froze at the address, their gazes snapping toward Jiang Yi.

Under their scrutiny, Jiang Yi steeled herself and said, “Actually, today, there’s something I want to tell you both…”

Ning Wenying smiled at her curiously. “What is it? Go ahead.”

Jiang Yi instinctively glanced at Jiang Sixian beside her, quietly reaching out to take her hand. After exchanging a look, she took a deep breath and announced to their mothers, “Sixian and I… are getting married.”

Ning Wenying and Jiang Qionghua were stunned for a moment. After a long pause, Ning Wenying’s lips finally curved into a smile. “That’s wonderful news! When are you planning to register? And when will the wedding be?”

“Ah, right—I can design the wedding venue, and I can also make the wedding dress.”

Ning Wenying was clearly thrilled, immediately offering detailed suggestions for the ceremony.

Jiang Qionghua, however, looked between her wife and the two girls, a complicated mix of emotions surging inside her. After a while, she couldn’t hold back any longer and blurted out, “If you’re getting married, when are you planning to have kids?”

Jiang Yi blinked, glancing at Jiang Sixian. Jiang Sixian pressed her lips together and smiled. “As for children… we probably won’t be considering that anytime soon.”

“Jiang Yi has her own projects to focus on for the next two years, and I’ll be starting a new venture soon, so we’ll both be quite busy.”

Jiang Yi was still in university, and after the New Year, she would be busy setting up her goose farm. There simply wasn’t any spare time.

Moreover, Jiang Sixian had been on long-term medication, making pregnancy inadvisable. They both agreed that children could wait a few more years.

Of course, from Jiang Yi’s perspective, it would be best if they never had children at all.

Pregnancy took a heavy toll on the body. Though they could consider artificial wombs for gestation, it would still place a burden on Jiang Sixian. Jiang Yi had never been particularly fixated on having children—she much preferred the idea of a life for just the two of them.

But Jiang Qionghua, as the elder, clearly had different opinions. Like every traditional parent, she earnestly advised, “That may be so, but it’s better to have children sooner rather than later.”

“If you can’t raise them, I can help!”

At this point, Jiang Yi understood—Jiang Qionghua was just bored in retirement and wanted a child to play with.

She chuckled and said, “We’re still young. There’s no rush.” Then, turning to Ning Wenying, she obediently added, “Ning Mom, let’s talk about the wedding arrangements.”

That night, they completely abandoned the Spring Festival Gala, spending hours discussing Jiang Yi and Jiang Sixian’s wedding.

The topic remained unresolved even after the Spring Festival holiday ended. In the end, it was decided that Ning Wenying would oversee the wedding preparations.

With the new year came a new routine for Jiang Yi—weekdays spent at school, weekends spent accompanying Jiang Sixian to select wedding items.

From the smallest details, like tableware for the banquet, to the largest, like the renovation of their new home, Jiang Yi handled everything personally. After Jiang Sixian cheekily declared that she loved whatever Jiang Yi chose and promptly washed her hands of the matter, Jiang Yi didn’t let her worry about any of it.

She knew Jiang Sixian was focused on recuperating and didn’t want to distract her.

The first half of the year passed in a whirlwind of errands and preparations.

By June, Jiang Yi and Jiang Sixian’s new villa was fully renovated. Two months later, in August, they held their wedding on a private island in the southern hemisphere. The guest list was small, but close friends like Lin Yinxi and Chen Wanzhou flew in to attend.

On the day of the wedding, a light snow began to fall. In the open-air chapel, guests held white lace-trimmed parasols as the soft strains of orchestral music filled the air. Jiang Qionghua led Jiang Sixian down the aisle, placing her hand in Jiang Yi’s.

Amid the gentle snowfall, Jiang Yi, dressed in a pristine white wedding suit, clasped hands with Jiang Sixian, who wore an equally stunning gown, and together they approached the minister to exchange their vows.

Standing face to face, their eyes brimmed with joy.

Outside, Lin Yinxi steadily held up her phone, recording the moment.

On screen, the minister turned to Jiang Yi and kindly asked, “Miss Jiang Yi, do you take Miss Jiang Sixian to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, to love and to cherish, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, till death do you part?”

Jiang Yi nodded, her eyes shining. “Yes, I do.”

“In times of joy and sorrow, in wealth or poverty, in health or illness, I will love her, cherish her, and remain faithful to her, now and forever. Not even death shall part us.”

When the minister posed the same question to Jiang Sixian, she answered through tears, her voice trembling, “I do.”

Their eyes reddened as they gazed at each other, tears glistening. After exchanging rings, Jiang Yi slipped one onto Jiang Sixian’s finger and pressed a kiss to her hand.

Jiang Sixian’s tears spilled over as she laughed, wiping them away before cupping Jiang Yi’s face and kissing her deeply the moment the minister declared, “You may now kiss.”

The crowd erupted into applause. Lin Yinxi, still recording, burst into tears, sobbing as she uploaded the video to her social media. “I’m fulfilled,” she wailed. “Ah, I want to get married too!”

Chen Wanzhou slung an arm around her shoulders, teasing, “Weren’t you the one who said you didn’t need to get married as long as they did? Now you’re changing your mind after one ceremony?”

Leaning in, she nipped Lin Yinxi’s ear and murmured suggestively, “Are you proposing to me?”

Lin Yinxi shoved a hand against her forehead, pushing her away with a scowl. “When you’re half as handsome as Jiang Yi, then we’ll talk.”

Chen Wanzhou huffed. “How am I not as handsome as her? Besides, it’s too late to pine for Jiang Yi now—she’s married.”

With a dramatic sigh, she draped herself over Lin Yinxi again. “Face it. You’re stuck with me for life.”

That night, Lin Yinxi’s video blew up across social media.

Within hours, their entire high school graduating class knew Jiang Sixian had gotten married.

As the school’s former goddess—even after presenting as an omega, she had remained the dream girl of countless students—everyone was curious about who had won her heart.

But when they clicked on the video and saw one of the brides, they were struck by a strange sense of déjà vu.

“Doesn’t that person look exactly like Jiang Yi?”

“But didn’t Jiang Yi die?”

“Disappearing after falling into the river isn’t the same as dying…”

“Did our goddess marry someone who looks like Jiang Yi? Damn, I always thought there was something between them back then. Rumor has it Jiang Sixian was devastated after Jiang Yi left…”

“No way. Are rich people really into doppelgänger romance tropes?”

By the time Lin Yinxi noticed, the discussions in their class and alumni groups had spiraled out of control. She had no choice but to clarify: “What are you talking about? That is Jiang Yi!”

To prove it, she even dragged Jiang Yi into filming a short clip. In the video, a formally dressed Jiang Yi blinked at the camera in confusion.

Only when Lin Yinxi prompted, “Jiang Yi, say hi to everyone,” did she smile and wave. “Hey…”

“If any of you are free, you’re welcome to attend our domestic wedding in September.”

When it came to weddings, more guests meant more red envelopes. Jiang Yi didn’t care if they were close—she invited them all.

That night, every group chat and forum in their high school exploded.

“Double Jiang is real!”

“Soulmates turned sisters turned wives!”

“My OTP came true!”

“My youth has returned!”

Posts flooded the forums.

As one of the witnesses, Lin Yinxi spent the entire night recounting Jiang Yi’s tragic six-year ordeal. She also explained that due to legal complications, Jiang Yi and Jiang Sixian could only marry abroad.

In short, both Class B and Class A alumni were losing their minds.

On the night of the wedding, just before bed, Jiang Sixian received a rare call from Qin Miaomiao.

After being rejected yet again in college, Qin Miaomiao had grown much more composed. “Sixian, I heard you got married? Why didn’t you tell me something so important?”

Jiang Sixian smiled, glancing at Jiang Yi, who was undressing before heading to the bathroom. “I did send an invitation to your mother, but she said you were in the lab and probably couldn’t make it, so I didn’t mention it.”

Qin Miaomiao paused. “I would have come no matter what for your wedding.”

“Then… will you be attending the one in September?”

“I will. But, if I may ask… is the bride Jiang Yi?”

Jiang Sixian turned toward the bathroom, her voice warm with happiness. “Yes. There could never be anyone else.”

Qin Miaomiao exhaled in relief. “Then congratulations. If it’s her… I think I can finally let go completely.”

“Sixian, be happy, okay?”

Jiang Sixian nodded. “I already am.”

Because she had finally waited for the one person she wanted to spend her life with.

September arrived in the blink of an eye. Jiang Yi and Jiang Sixian’s final wedding ceremony was held in Yuncheng. That day, the banquet hall was filled with faces Jiang Yi vaguely recognized but couldn’t quite place.

Strangers and acquaintances alike raised glass after glass, toasting her until her limbs turned weak and she nearly collapsed, only to be caught by Jiang Sixian and helped back to their room.

Sprawled on the bed, Jiang Yi stared dizzily at the ceiling. Jiang Sixian unbuttoned her shirt collar, gently helping her breathe easier. “If you can’t drink that much, you shouldn’t have forced yourself. Why indulge them like that?”

“This is your wedding, not some punishment.”

Jiang Yi’s mind was still clear despite the alcohol. She turned her head, a hazy smile on her lips. “Weren’t those all people who liked you? I couldn’t possibly lose face in front of them.”

“So no matter what, I had to outdrink them.”

Though Jiang Yi usually seemed easygoing, she had a competitive streak—especially when it came to Jiang Sixian’s admirers.

Jiang Sixian fell silent for a long moment before slowly bending down and pressing herself against Jiang Yi.

After a while, she murmured against Jiang Yi’s chest, “If that’s the case… then mark me.”

“Jiang Yi, mark me. Leave your imprint on me.”

She sat up, pulling her collar aside to bare her scent gland.

Jiang Yi, still sprawled on the bed, grinned drunkenly. “No.”

She tugged Jiang Sixian’s collar back up, chuckling. “I don’t want to mark you. You’re yours, and I’m mine…”

“I don’t belong to you, and you don’t belong to me.”

“That much is certain.”

Pulling herself up, she wrapped her arms around Jiang Sixian, resting her chin on her shoulder. “But it’s also certain that I love you.”

“I’m not an animal. I don’t need to claim you like that. Besides, love is about mutual respect—it’s a covenant between us.”

“If we really need some kind of mark… then this love is proof enough.”

“Jiang Sixian, I really, truly love you.”

Jiang Sixian didn’t respond. She simply tightened her arms around Jiang Yi, holding her as tightly as she could.

Perhaps the real mark was exactly what Jiang Yi had said—love. Fleeting yet fervent, but also potentially eternal.

She pressed her lips to Jiang Yi’s ear and whispered, “Jiang Yi, I will love you forever.”

That vow was their eternal bond.
