Found Out

Chapter 35: Found Out

Shen Bumian and Liao Changfeng walked into Gu Yixi’s private office. Qin Luzhi waited outside for Shen Bumian.

Shen Bumian knocked on the door. Liao Changfeng followed behind him; he didn’t dare to walk in front, feeling an inexplicable fear of that Teacher Gu.

“Come in—”

Gu Yixi’s voice came clearly through the door to both of their ears. They exchanged a glance.

Shen Bumian sighed as he opened the door, wondering why Liao Changfeng had suddenly become so timid.

“Teacher Gu, we’re here to hand in our self-criticism essays.”

A faint smile played on Shen Bumian’s lips. He looked extremely well-behaved; anyone looking at him would find it hard to get angry, and Gu Yixi was no exception.

Behind him, Liao Changfeng slowly placed the essay in his hand on the desk as well, stammering out, “T-Teacher Gu.”

Gu Yixi raised an eyebrow. “Oh, you came together? Anyone who didn’t know better would think you two are good friends. Who would have thought you were just fighting this morning? Is this a case of ‘no discord, no concord’?”

“A private fight? Quite capable, aren’t you? You two have certainly taught me a lesson. It’s great to be young. So brave, why don’t you be the teachers instead?”

Here is the translation of the text you provided:

The moment he started, Gu Yixi was dripping with sarcasm. Although his words were directed at both of them, his eyes were fixed on Liao Changfeng.

He stared until Liao Changfeng couldn’t take it anymore. He opened his mouth to admit his mistake but was afraid of concentrating all the firepower on himself.

Liao Changfeng sneakily glanced up at Shen Bumian, thinking to himself that he really was unflappable.

To be so calm even while being scolded. In comparison, he felt even more like crying.

Seeing that he had made his point, Gu Yixi stopped talking and looked down at the two self-criticism essays, remaining silent for a long time.

Liao Changfeng intentionally quieted his breathing. He had thought the essay was just a formality and that the teacher wouldn’t actually read it, but now…

It’s over, it’s over, he thought. I wrote it so perfunctorily, I’m definitely going to get scolded again. Sure enough, Gu Yixi’s lips straightened, and he spoke.

“Shen Bumian—”

It’s over, it’s over. Liao Changfeng immediately started apologizing, “I’m sorry, Teacher, I…”

Huh? Shen Bumian? He wasn’t calling on me?

Liao Changfeng shot his head up and saw Gu Yixi staring at Shen Bumian with a ghost of a smile, holding Shen Bumian’s essay in his hand.

Compared to his own uncreased paper, Shen Bumian’s had several fold marks.

Liao Changfeng held his breath and lit a candle for Shen Bumian in his mind. The beautiful omega was about to endure Teacher Gu’s verbal onslaught alone. One word: tragic!

Shen Bumian calmly met his gaze, his eyes falling on the paper, then shifting away guiltily.

Gu Yixi saw all of this, and he was so amused by that brat Qin Luzhi that he could have laughed.

“Does Qin Luzhi think I wouldn’t be able to tell just because he changed his handwriting? Is he trying to fool me?”

Seeing that he had been found out, Shen Bumian apologized guiltily, “I’m sorry, Teacher Gu. I was the one who asked him for help.”

A flash of surprise crossed Gu Yixi’s eyes. It wasn’t that brat Qin Luzhi who had initiated it. It seemed his skills were still lacking. Tsk, what a hassle.

But he didn’t want to help his son anymore. Figure it out yourself! Little Dad is angry now, the kind that can’t be coaxed.

He got even angrier thinking about the last time he had asked Qin Luzhi to help him write an annual summary and he had been unwilling.

But what could he do? The person before him was the Shen family’s treasure, and perhaps the Qin family’s future treasure as well.

He couldn’t bear to be harsh. So he turned his head and glared at Liao Changfeng, who was standing quietly like a piece of furniture.

Liao Changfeng immediately shuddered and stood up straight. However, after glaring, Gu Yixi looked away from him. He was a bit bewildered.

Gu Yixi didn’t really intend to make things difficult for them. He stacked the two essays together and placed them aside.

“Alright, this matter is now closed. No more private fights in the future, and no writing essays for others. I’m letting you off this time. You can go back now.”

As soon as the two of them were outside, Liao Changfeng’s eyes widened. “Shen Bumian, you’re so awesome! You actually got Senior Qin to write your essay for you! Holy crap, holy crap, I really admire you!”

Shen Bumian thought of Qin Luzhi’s explanation from that morning. “Yeah, Qin Luzhi is a really nice person. He Jing also said he’s happy to help others.”

Liao Changfeng recalled He Jing’s image and thought to himself, Can Senior He Jing’s words be trusted?

He didn’t know, but he really didn’t think Senior Qin was the type to be happy to help others. Thinking of that scene, he got goosebumps all over.

Qin Luzhi looked at Shen Bumian with a hint of apology. “I’m sorry.”

Shen Bumian smiled. It seemed like Qin Luzhi always apologized to him so directly, without giving a reason.

But what was there to be sorry for this time? He had helped him write the essay; he couldn’t be more grateful. “Don’t say you’re sorry. I should be thanking you.”

Qin Luzhi nodded with a wooden expression. The three of them walked out of the office building. Qin Luzhi remembered that He Jing had asked him to bring back food.

“I need to get food for He Jing. Is there anything you guys want to eat?”

Liao Changfeng naturally nodded. He felt like he had been starving all day, but he couldn’t bring himself to eat.

He was just about to speak when he realized that the “happy to help others” Boss Qin was staring at Shen Bumian, not receiving his signals at all.

Liao Changfeng: …

He brazenly said, “B-Boss Qin, I want to eat barbecue rice. Can you bring a portion back for me? My dorm is on the same floor as yours.”

His voice grew weaker and weaker.

He summoned great courage to endure Qin Luzhi’s death glare, hoping he would nod in agreement.

If he went himself, the entire street outside would probably be closed.

He really couldn’t take it anymore. A few short seconds felt like centuries. Is this the pressure of a top-tier A? he thought.

He reached out and poked Shen Bumian. “Why don’t you get something to eat too? It’s convenient since someone’s making a run.”

Realizing what he had just said, Liao Changfeng abruptly shut his mouth. Ah, damn it, I couldn’t control my mouth. He wanted to slap himself.

Shen Bumian felt a little hot and sweaty and was craving ice cream. He nodded slightly. “Can I have ice cream? You can use your ice ability to keep it frozen.”

“Yes, I can.”

Liao Changfeng seized the opportunity, weakly raising his hand. “What about my barbecue rice?”

Qin Luzhi finally deigned to grant him a reply, nodding. Before leaving, he said to Liao Changfeng, “You walk Shen Bumian back to his dorm.”

What could Liao Changfeng say? He had nothing to say. Boss Qin was personally bringing him food.

So what if he had to walk Shen Bumian back to his dorm? He would be willing to walk him all the way home right now!

Shen Bumian found Qin Luzhi’s insistence that someone had to walk him back to his dorm a little amusing.

For a moment, he thought his own dear older brother was standing in front of him. Both of them were worrywarts, and both were so coolly taciturn.

Shen Bumian was amused by his own thought. When Liao Changfeng asked him what was wrong, he just shook his head.

Qin Luzhi returned quickly. As was his routine, he asked the same manager from last time to deliver the ice cream upstairs. The manager grumbled at him, “Why are you so thoughtless? How can you let an omega eat something so cold at night? Omegas are fragile. What if he gets a stomachache?”

Qin Luzhi froze, mumbling, “I didn’t know.”

The manager sighed, looking at the genuinely clueless Qin Luzhi. It seemed he really didn’t know. She just said, “Be more considerate next time,” and took the delivery to Shen Bumian’s dorm.

For a moment, she felt that the Alpha’s figure looked a bit lonely, which made her unable to continue saying discouraging things.

By the time Qin Luzhi returned to the dormitory area, He Jing and Liao Changfeng felt like they were about to starve to death. But Liao Changfeng had no complaints; he couldn’t be more grateful. He could finally eat something delicious!

“Thank you, Boss Qin! I am willing to go through mountains of knives and seas of fire for you, I would die ten thousand deaths without regret!”

At the very moment Liao Changfeng took the food, Qin Luzhi clearly saw that a portion of his Misfortune Transfer ability had dissipated. Liao Changfeng would now only have to be unlucky for half a month.

Meanwhile, in room 710, He Jing was sprawled out on a chair in the common area. “Why isn’t the boss back yet? Did he forget to bring me food?”

No one answered him in the empty room. Mu Yi wasn’t there either; he had been held back by the instructor to give extra training to the first-year freshmen.

With a click, the dorm room door was finally opened. Qin Luzhi placed the food container on the table.

He Jing scrambled up and began to wolf down the food, mumbling indistinctly, “Boss, why are you back so late? Did you go for extra training tonight too?”

Qin Luzhi’s hand, about to open his room door, paused. After a long moment, he gave a very soft “mm,” earning an admiring sigh from He Jing, “So diligent, never slacking off!”

In the room’s bathroom, Qin Luzhi was taking a shower. Water flowed down his neck, over his firm chest and toned abs. He closed his eyes, and Shen Bumian’s smiling face flashed through his mind.

He couldn’t quite understand it. At first, he had only ever heard the name Shen Bumian.

He had no thoughts about the marriage alliance between their two families; it was just an insignificant person. In any case, the agreement was only for one year.

So why was he now always thinking of Shen Bumian without realizing it?

Even by the time he went to bed, Qin Luzhi still hadn’t found the answer he was looking for.
