Chapter 41: Chen Si
By the time Zhou Yizhou and the others were about to arrive, Qin Luzhi had already brought Shen Bumian to the reserved restaurant. Shen Bumian sent a message back to Zhou Yizhou.
The group finally breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that with Qin Luzhi there, there was no room for them to be of any help at all.
Qin Luzhi watched Shen Bumian, who was eating with his head down, and got up to help him throw the chocolate wrapper into the trash can. It had been given to him by someone else.
An omega on the road had stuffed it into He Jing’s hand, said it was for him, and then ran off, probably not daring to give it to Qin Luzhi directly.
They had no time to return it. At the time, He Jing had even tossed it to Qin Luzhi with a look of dissatisfaction.
Qin Luzhi had no choice but to put it in his pocket, thinking he would return it next time. But just now, he had turned around and given it to Shen Bumian to eat.
Qin Luzhi sighed internally. I’ll just have to buy something else to give back in return.
But from the looks of it, Shen Bumian seemed to quite like that brand of chocolate.
The school sent people to the ability space Shen Bumian had set up and captured that person. The weather returned to normal, and only then did they realize it had started to cool down.
Training continued as usual. The only difference was that Qin Luzhi would now take out a piece of chocolate for Shen Bumian to stave off his hunger every time.
On this day, it was the end of October, a time when they could go home. But this time, neither Qin Luzhi’s nor Shen Bumian’s group went home.
On the training grounds, Qin Luzhi and Mu Yi were sparring. Both of them were already a little sweaty.
Chen Hebin walked in briskly with drinks, casually tossing a bottle of water to He Jing. He Jing accepted it without any politeness, twisted it open, and took several large gulps.
After a while, Qin Luzhi and Mu Yi also came down, took the water and drank a few mouthfuls, then wiped their sweat with a towel.
He Jing caught a glimpse of Chen Hebin messaging Zhou Yizhou again and couldn’t hold back his curiosity.
“Hey, I’m asking you, what stage are you two at? Does Zhou Yizhou know you like him?”
Chen Hebin’s face instantly turned red. “N-no, he doesn’t know. We’re still just friends right now.”
Over the past two months, they had added each other as contacts. Then he had taken Zhou Yizhou to get his hair dyed, and Zhou Yizhou was very satisfied.
He often used the excuse of being friends to ask Zhou Yizhou out to eat. All in all, their relationship was pretty good right now.
He Jing choked. “You two are stuck together every day, and you’re telling me you haven’t confessed yet?”
Chen Hebin, still blushing, shook his head. He didn’t dare. He was afraid Zhou Yizhou would reject him, and then he wouldn’t be able to stay by his side anymore.
He Jing clicked his tongue in disbelief. One after another, they’re all like this. If it were him, if he liked someone, he would just go for it.
If his confession was rejected, he would just hang around in front of them every day. It’s not like they could truly become strangers.
Hearing this, Mu Yi shot He Jing a meaningful glance, as if to say, you’d better mean that.
He Jing didn’t understand Chen Hebin’s dilemma and was still in the mood to joke. “I say, since Zhou Yizhou isn’t going home, why aren’t you asking him out to eat? You still have time to chat with us brothers here?”
Chen Hebin was very troubled. He wanted to, but Zhou Yizhou had his own personal space. He couldn’t cling to him every moment; the other person would get annoyed.
“He went out to eat with sister-in-law. It seems they’re meeting a good friend of theirs.”
At his side, Qin Luzhi’s hand, which was wiping away sweat, paused for a second upon hearing this.
The group trained for a while longer, occasionally chatting during their breaks.
At noon, the group went to eat. The cafeteria staff had also gone home for the holiday, so they went out of the school.
But at the corner of a high-end restaurant, they saw some unexpected people.
At that moment, the four of them had just sat down at their table when they saw two familiar figures standing outside the glass door.
Zhou Yizhou was wearing a hat and holding an umbrella in his hand. It was a sunny day, and the sun was a bit glaring and harsh.
In contrast to the fully-equipped Zhou Yizhou, Shen Bumian was just wearing a loose short-sleeved shirt, standing beside him. From this distance, they could see that his ears were red from the sun.
Chen Hebin’s eyes lit up when he saw Zhou Yizhou. “Boss, should we go over and say hello?”
He Jing had already raised his hand and opened his mouth, looking like he was about to call out to them.
In the blink of an eye, they saw a reddish-brown-haired Alpha run over, carrying two cups of milk tea.
After giving one cup to Zhou Yizhou, he inserted a straw into the other and handed it to Shen Bumian.
The Alpha was all smiles as he lowered his head and ruffled Shen Bumian’s hair.
“Mianmian, your ears are all red from the sun!”
The Alpha lowered his head and placed his cool fingers on the tips of Shen Bumian’s red ears, giving them a gentle squeeze. “How’s that? Isn’t it much cooler?”
He had a cheap look on his face, smugly seeking praise. Shen Bumian gave a soft “mm” and took several large gulps of the milk tea in his hand.
Zhou Yizhou was instantly dissatisfied and kicked the Alpha. “You dog, get away from me! Don’t touch Mianmian. I’m also very hot, how come I don’t see you cooling me down?”
The Alpha raised an eyebrow, stuck his tongue out at Zhou Yizhou, and made a face. “I won’t. Piss you off. Who told Mianmian to be so close with me, hmph!”
Hearing this, Zhou Yizhou was practically exploding with anger and postured as if he was about to hit him. The Alpha nimbly dodged behind Shen Bumian, and Zhou Yizhou couldn’t land a single hit.
Shen Bumian watched the two of them fool around and smiled softly. “Alright, Chen Si, stop bullying Zhouzhou.”
Zhou Yizhou immediately straightened his back and shot a provocative look at Chen Si, his eyes clearly saying, See, Mianmian is on my side.
Chen Si’s eyes immediately drooped in grievance, but his face still held a look of defiance. “Fine, I’ll listen to you, Mianmian.”
After speaking, he didn’t forget to glare back at Zhou Yizhou.
Shen Bumian sighed helplessly. It had been so many years, and they were still like this. When would they ever stop for a moment? “Let’s go. It’s going to get crowded at the restaurant.”
Only then did Zhou Yizhou snort, avert his gaze, open his umbrella, and walk ahead without looking back.
Shen Bumian glanced at Chen Si, who immediately beamed with joy, his desire to show off surging. “It’s fine, don’t mind him. Look, I just bought an umbrella on the way.”
Chen Si opened a black umbrella. The long handle was carved with a black and gold pattern.
Chen Si was the first to step into the sunlight, extending his hand to Shen Bumian. “My dearest Princess Mianmian, I wonder if I might have the honor of holding this umbrella for you?”
Shen Bumian resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Chen Si looked so silly. People around were already looking in their direction. Shen Bumian chuckled to himself. “Let’s go, Sir Chen.”
As he spoke, he placed his hand in Chen Si’s palm. Chen Si gave a roguish smile, pulled Shen Bumian under the umbrella, and wrapped an arm around his shoulder. “At your command!”
The two figures gradually disappeared into the crowd. He Jing gave two awkward laughs and silently lowered his conspicuous hand. Chen Hebin’s smile also faded. They could still hear people discussing excitedly.
“Did you see? Just now at the restaurant entrance, that reddish-brown-haired Alpha and the black-haired omega!”
“I saw, I saw! They’re a perfect match! That Alpha’s doting gaze!! I’m dead!!”
“Say no more, I know Beauty Shen. His gaze is to die for too. The kind where if he looks at you once, I’d be willing to give him my life!!”
Seeing that the group was about to come up with a ship name for them, Chen Hebin got a little nervous. He looked at Qin Luzhi’s expressionless face, thinking that a storm must be raging in his heart.
Moreover, seeing how familiar Zhou Yizhou was with that Alpha left a sour taste in his mouth. He imagined a whole drama where his own wife had a crush on that Alpha, who in turn was sister-in-law’s devoted simp.
Mu Yi held back for as long as he could, his gaze frequently shifting between Qin Luzhi and Chen Hebin, before he spoke faintly, “I’m not very hungry yet. Why don’t we follow them?”
He Jing nodded eagerly, and Chen Hebin was also getting restless. The three of them all looked at Qin Luzhi.
Qin Luzhi’s eyelids were lowered, making it impossible to see the color of his eyes. He frowned, and his cold voice finally fell. “Okay.”
In the blink of an eye, they saw a reddish-brown-haired Alpha run over, carrying two cups of milk tea.
