TSA Chapter 80

Inheritance Quest

The two recounted everything that had happened in the Domain of the Undead to Leslie. When he heard about the bone dragon controlled by the necromancer, Leslie fell silent for a moment before telling them a story.

Thousands of years ago, there was a great war between gods and demons—the same battle that Ran Qi and Night Owl had witnessed in the Dragon Soul Secret Realm.

The necromancer led his undead army to invade this beautiful kingdom. The king personally led his knights into battle against the undead army but tragically fell in combat, leaving behind only a princess. When the princess was young, she had found a dragon egg. The egg hatched into a true dragon, and as they grew up together, they formed a deep bond.

When the undead army attacked the kingdom of light, it was the dragon that carried the princess to safety. Seeking the protection of the God of Light, the princess became a powerful Light Mage. Together with the dragon, she returned to her homeland, reclaimed it from the necromancer, and became the queen.

The dragon and the queen shared an unbreakable bond, and even after the queen passed away, the dragon continued to guard her tomb.

However, an old foe never truly dies. The necromancer had not been completely destroyed back then. The black-robed mage in the Dragon Soul Secret Realm had merely been one of his puppets—the real necromancer had escaped long ago. Though his power was greatly diminished by the battle, he bided his time in hiding.

After the dragon eventually perished, the necromancer somehow managed to steal its remains, turning them into a puppet under his control and using it to unleash chaos once again.

Fortunately, the queen had long anticipated this possibility. She established the Temple of Light and used the divine power of the God of Light to seal the necromancer within the Domain of the Undead. The only way to truly kill him was to locate his remains and purify them with the power of light.

While the method seemed simple in theory, in practice, it was incredibly difficult. Over the years, the Temple of Light had sent countless warriors into the Domain of the Undead, but none had ever returned. Their bodies and souls had likely only served to further strengthen the necromancer.

With no other options, the temple sealed off the entrance to the Domain of the Undead entirely. However, not long ago, the God of Light issued a divine prophecy—the true warriors capable of vanquishing the necromancer once and for all were about to arrive.

Clearly, Ran Qi and Night Owl were the warriors foretold by the God of Light. The curse on Night Owl was a remnant of that ancient battle, meaning the two of them had already thwarted the necromancer’s plans once. If they could do it once, they could do it again.

As long as they killed the necromancer, Night Owl’s curse would be lifted.

Leslie believed that the previous warriors had likely fallen to the necromancer-controlled bone dragon. The Domain of Undead was vast—searching every inch of it for the necromancer’s remains was nearly impossible. Without the bone dragon’s guidance, they would never have found the true resting place of his remains.

The two dragon eggs that Night Owl and Ran Qi had obtained in the Dragon Soul Secret Realm had played a critical role. The connection between the same species had awakened the bone dragon’s soul, allowing it to break free from the necromancer’s control and lead them to his remains.

“Thank you both for your help. The God of Light will bestow his blessings upon you,” Leslie said, bowing respectfully to them.

As Leslie finished speaking, a system notification appeared before both of them.

[System Announcement] Congratulations to players [Night Owl] and [Bai Ran] for completing the hidden quest. The Inheritance Quest has now been officially unlocked and will be randomly triggered.

The two exchanged glances, feeling a bit confused about what this so-called Inheritance Quest entailed.

“Please, follow me,” Leslie said, leading them to the rear hall of the Temple of Light. There, he mysteriously took out a white crystal ball covered in magical inscriptions. “Place your hands on the crystal ball.”

Ran Qi and Night Owl looked at each other again before Night Owl stepped forward first, pressing his hand against the crystal ball.

The crystal ball immediately began to change. The once beautiful, transparent sphere was suddenly filled with swirling black and blue energies, violently clashing and colliding until they transformed into crackling lightning, as if someone were undergoing a tribulation.

[System] Congratulations! You have inherited the Power of Thunder.

Night Owl noticed that his skill panel was glowing. When he opened it, he discovered a new branch had been added to his skill tree, granting him three new skills: [Thunder Strike], [Thunderstorm], and [Thunder Orb]. Among them, [Thunder Strike] was a single-target attack, while [Thunderstorm] and [Thunder Orb] were area-of-effect skills. Clearly, his attack power would become even stronger thanks to these new abilities.

Seeing this, Ran Qi also placed his hand on the crystal ball, which gradually filled with a beautiful white light.

[System] Congratulations! You have inherited the Power of Light.

Ran Qi checked his skill panel as well and, as expected, three new skills had appeared: [Aurora], [Radiance], and [Light Rain]. [Aurora] was a single-target attack that dealt light-based damage, while [Radiance] and [Light Rain] were area-of-effect skills that could deal light-based damage over a wide range.

These skills belonged to the light magic category, meaning they dealt double damage to dark-type and undead creatures. It was as if he had been granted the identity of a Light Mage in addition to his existing role. Moreover, with the skill buffs from his pet, the little white dragon, his attack power could be further enhanced.

These three skills felt like a timely blessing, and Ran Qi was thrilled. After all, the most frustrating thing about being a priest was the lack of offensive abilities. Now, thanks to this hidden inheritance quest, he finally had some attack power of his own.

With this newfound strength, he felt even more confident about his upcoming duel with Zhang Shuo.

Meanwhile, the World Channel had already erupted in excitement. No one had expected the game to contain hidden inheritance quests, let alone that it would be unlocked by the legendary player Night Owl. Although Bai Ran’s name was also mentioned in the system announcement, his presence was nowhere near as dominant as Night Owl’s, so most of the attention remained on him.

Just hearing the name ‘Inheritance Quest’ made it sound incredibly powerful. Gaining a hidden inheritance would undoubtedly result in a massive power boost.

“Night Owl was already insanely strong—now he’s even more overpowered!”

“Only Night Owl could trigger such a unique inheritance quest! The guy is truly on another level!”

However, the system announcement also stated that the inheritance quest triggers randomly, and that successfully obtaining an inheritance ultimately depends on luck.

Encouraged by this revelation, a flood of players rushed into the main city, eagerly taking on all kinds of low-reward, low-exp quests that they would normally ignore, hoping to trigger an inheritance quest of their own.

And surprisingly, a few actually succeeded. They posted their experiences on the forums, but when others tried to replicate their methods, they all failed.

It was only later that players discovered that these inheritance quests were one-time events—once they were triggered, it was impossible to activate them again using the same method.

Moreover, most players who managed to trigger an inheritance quest only received a single skill, usually a support-type ability. Offensive skills were rare, and area-of-effect skills were even rarer. The luckiest players had only gained two skills at most. No one else had received three exceptionally powerful skills in one go like Night Owl and Ran Qi.
