[VOL 2 – TRUE AND FALSE UNDERSTAND CITIES]
In the central highlands of Capital City, there was a restricted area enclosed by huge stone walls. In the center of the restricted area stood a towering black tower-shaped building, nicknamed ‘Qian Yun[mfn] Literally mean Lead Cloud[/mfn].’
This was the political heart of the Federation, the power hub controlling the entire world, the sacred and inviolable beacon. It symbolized the Federation’s massive ship, standing eternally like a lead cloud—even with impending storms, it would never fall.
Within the restricted area, on either side of Lead Cloud, were two equally crucial buildings. The red building on the left was called the Hong Suo Ability Research Institute, and the blue building on the right was the Blue Pivot Ability Inspection Team.
At this moment, the Blue Pivot building was brightly lit, the atmosphere extremely tense. In the vast conference hall, one could hear a pin drop. Those normally arrogant officers now lowered their heads, holding their breath and sucking in their stomachs, afraid of standing out in the crowd.
News of Boras and Kluova’s deaths had arrived a while ago, but no one dared to leave work on time.
Finally, the sound of leather boot soles tapping on marble flooring echoed through the corridor, like a heavy hammer striking people’s hearts, making everyone’s nerves tense.
Soon, the conference hall door was unceremoniously pushed open, and a murderous figure appeared. As he entered, it seemed as if the air conditioning had been turned to maximum cold, immediately filling the air with a suffocating sense of solidification.
He walked straight to the main seat, pulled out a chair, and sat facing everyone. Without saying a word, he swept his sharp, deadly gaze across the crowd.
Anyone who regularly watched the news would easily recognize that this was the director of Blue Pivot’s Second District, Control system S-level Awakened Si Hongche.
After a long while, Si Hongche finally crossed his right leg over his left knee, revealing an almost sinister expression: “One operation, two high-ranking officers dead.”
The investigation captain in charge of this operation heard this and fell from his chair with a “thud,” his body trembling like a sieve: “It’s those lawless Black Lantern Society members who are too vicious and deranged! Their atrocious behavior will surely be severely punished. I’ve already dispatched—”
“Call them back,” Si Hongche mercilessly interrupted his subordinate’s accusations, his tone cold.
“W-what?”
“Order all Star University freshmen to enter the C-level underground city at Blue Hole Reservoir within two days.”
“This…” The inspection captain was stunned for a moment, stammering, “Officer Boras did indeed focus on this year’s freshmen before his death, but after analysis, we believe the three A-levels among the freshmen don’t possess such abilities. The Black Lantern Society has most likely already—”
“It doesn’t matter,” Si Hongche looked at him as if he were looking at an idiot.
Whether the killer was among the freshmen or not, regardless of the students’ survival, he just needed to eliminate this possibility.
The inspection captain shuddered violently, quickly acknowledging the order.
Si Hongche stared at him heavily for several seconds before putting down his right leg, standing up, and returning directly to his office.
As soon as he entered, he removed his gloves, shed his long double-breasted military leather coat, and unbuckled the black rhinoceros leather belt at his waist.
He bent the belt in his hand, flicked it in the air, and strode toward the figure hanging in front of the closed curtains.
The person, hearing Si Hongche’s footsteps, couldn’t help but tremble, but before he could make a sound, the belt slashed diagonally across his left ribs.
Thus, the words in his throat turned into uncontrollable cries of pain and wailing.
“Aaaaaahhhhh! Don’t hit me!”
Si Hongche said nothing, the belt coming down again and again, from chest to abdomen, traversing his entire torso.
Blood quickly soaked through the thin white T-shirt. The person’s handcuffed hands struggled frantically, his obviously malnourished, thin wrists breaking skin and bleeding, the blood winding down his forearms. But he was oblivious to this, his body still violently trembling from the pain.
“Please… Ache, it hurts aaaaaahhhhh!” His screams were broken and comical, his expression twisted, his hands frantically clawing at the air. He looked far from beautiful, but this was just the instinctive reaction of someone in extreme pain.
Si Hongche, having beaten enough, tossed the belt aside and roughly grabbed his golden hair, rudely yanking up his lowered head.
Beneath the hair soaked with cold sweat, a beautiful, pale face was revealed. He was looking at Si Hongche with bloodshot eyes and a terrified expression.
Si Hongche showed not the slightest pity, coldly saying: “Don’t act so pitiful. A plant system S-level Awakened doesn’t die so easily.”
The person’s lips were cracked, his face covered in tears and mucus. He suddenly quieted down, though still trembling in pain, but no longer emitting miserable screams.
Using his last bit of rationality, he suppressed the surging pheromones within him, neither protecting himself nor attacking the person before him.
But Si Hongche was not appreciative. His fingers slid down from the person’s profile to his left chest, pressing hard on the bloody protrusion.
“Oliver, show me your value.”
The man called Oliver’s back instantly arched like a startled shrimp, convulsing, a faint flush appearing on his bloodless face.
The 100% pheromone compatibility still caused his sensitive areas to react intensely to this person’s touch.
“Go treat your wounds yourself.” With that, Si Hongche kicked aside the blood-stained belt on the floor and left the office without lingering.
He seemed certain that the person wouldn’t use his ability to alleviate the pain, but would willingly endure it.
Once Si Hongche’s footsteps had faded into the distance, the previously half-dead Oliver slowly raised his head.
He lightly rubbed two fingers together, and suddenly two extremely thin vines emerged from his fingertips. The vines skillfully probed into the handcuff keyhole, and with a “click,” easily opened the lock.
Oliver fell heavily to the ground, limp and powerless, his blood and sweat-soaked clothes clinging tightly to his body.
His gaze was disordered, nearly fainting, but he still struggled to support his paper-thin body, staggering toward Si Hongche’s desk.
A leaf silently covered the camera in the corner of the wall, and only then did he raise his wrist, with flesh turned outward and oozing blood, to feel for the computer on the desk.
He pressed his fingers cautiously and stiffly on the keyboard, the pale blue light from the computer screen illuminating his pale, disheveled face.
Typing those words had exhausted all his strength. He collapsed to his knees on the floor, struggling to lift his eyes, and finally pressed the confirm button as if completely drained—

When Lance received the new help request from Black Lantern Society headquarters, he was still biting into a shumai.
After hearing the complete request content, his expression slightly changed.
In front of Zhan Pingchuan, his acting skills should have been at their peak, but the words coming through the miniature earpiece truly shocked him.
Requesting to kill oneself? And an S-level at that!
Why?
Zhan Pingchuan keenly caught Lance’s distraction: “What’s wrong?”
Lance suddenly came back to his senses, realizing he had just let his guard down.
Zhan Pingchuan couldn’t know about the miniature earpiece in his ear.
In his moment of hesitation, his brain spun rapidly. There was only one method that could make Zhan Pingchuan quickly throw his rationality and intelligence to the wind, completely ignoring his abnormality.
Lance put down his chopsticks, took a deep breath, as if restraining some impulse, to the extent that he couldn’t look directly into Zhan Pingchuan’s eyes.
“I think… my pheromones are again…”
He hesitated, as if too embarrassed to continue, but it was obvious that fluid exchange couldn’t cure pheromone chaos in one go.
Zhan Pingchuan raised his eyebrows high, instantly finding the sea urchin beef bun before him bland and tasteless. He discreetly controlled his restless Alpha pheromones and said in a tone as if he’d never watched AO adult videos: “As a good youth of the new era, helping others is my life creed. You don’t need to feel awkward at all. If you have any needs, just say so anytime, and I will absolutely fulfill my duty without hesitation.”
He very calculatingly emphasized each adverb.
Lance: “.”
Zhan Pingchuan released some soothing pheromones, hiding his peacock-like demeanor, and asked as if casually: “Are you full?”
He saw that Lance had only eaten three pieces.
Actually, Lance wasn’t particularly hungry. He had said that earlier just to delay Zhan Pingchuan, since shumai needed to be freshly wrapped, with limited quantities per steamer, far slower to buy than boxed meals.
Feeling the gentian pheromone’s scent, the originally stable star magnolia pheromones also showed some fluctuation.
“I’m full.”
Lance lifted his long hair, his fingers exploring the back of his neck, massaging the swollen gland.
Under his touch, the gland sensitively contracted, and the fresh, sweet scent of star magnolia gradually seeped through his fingers.
“Ahem, I’ll go take a shower. I’m covered in sweat,” Zhan Pingchuan said, his ears getting a bit hot. Lance was so brazenly caressing his gland in front of him, the visual impact was too obvious.
Seemingly unaware of how provocative his actions were, Lance softly “mmm”-ed, responding obediently.
Zhan Pingchuan opened the bathroom door and immediately pulled off his jacket. He hadn’t come back to shower earlier because the hot water in the heater was completely empty.
He found it quite incredible—logically, that hot water should have been enough for four or five people, but Lance had used it all up in one go.
He pondered that Lance’s love for the bathroom was a bit obsessive. In the future, wouldn’t they need to buy a super-luxurious 100-square-meter one?
A 100-square-meter bathroom, so the whole house would be about 800 square meters?
An 800-square-meter villa would be a small matter for Ghost Eye Guild, but he’d have to get an advance on his inheritance from Old Zhan.
Zhan Pingchuan’s thoughts wandered as he turned on the faucet and stepped into the water curtain. His gaze unexpectedly fell on the small window opposite the shower.
At the edge of the black window frame, a section of dust had been wiped away.
Zhan Pingchuan instantly narrowed his eyes.
Who would deliberately wipe away this section of dust?
Unless someone had entered or exited through the window, gotten stuck, and their clothes had accidentally wiped away this bit of dust.
But just as Lance had predicted, Zhan Pingchuan had completely thrown his intelligence to the wind. He quickly withdrew his gaze, picked up his toothbrush, and began brushing his teeth.
As soon as Zhan Pingchuan entered the bathroom, Lance’s gaze sharpened, and with uneven breathing, he commanded into the earpiece: “Don’t act rashly yet. It could be a trap. Duma, go investigate this Oliver.”
Zhan Pingchuan emerged from the bathroom at lightning speed, a towel draped around his body.
For his height, the towel wasn’t very large, barely covering the essential areas.
He raised his hand, the blood vessels in his strong, powerful forearm tensing, extending from his pulse to the crook of his arm. Under the wet water marks, they exuded a vigorous sexual tension.
He tossed his sweat-soaked school uniform out, landing precisely in the laundry basket.
Lance’s Adam’s apple rolled slightly, his gaze profound as he voluntarily opened his arms.
Zhan Pingchuan’s body, full of moisture, came before his eyes, the bitter gentian scent completely enveloping him. Those powerful arms lifted him by the waist, supporting his buttocks.
The two turquoise pendants touched his nose tip, as if triggering some switch. Lance couldn’t help but let out a soft moan, instinctively tightening his arms around Zhan Pingchuan’s neck.
This time, Zhan Pingchuan didn’t throw him onto the bed but, in this completely controlling posture, lowered his head to lick Lance’s Cupid’s bow.
“Wait…” Lance gritted his teeth to control his impulse, pushing the glasses that had slid to his nose bridge back into place before tilting his neck in response.
Zhan Pingchuan raised an eyebrow, clearly not understanding why Lance was wearing glasses while kissing.
Lance’s face flushed as he opened his mouth to bite Zhan Pingchuan’s lower lip, murmuring indistinctly: “Don’t let It see.”
