Extra 11: Campus Life 5
Professor Li finished discussing the important matter with Qin Chaoyan and then instructed Lin Chao with a few more words before walking away holding the thermos.
Qin Chaoyan watched him leave, and once he was out of the classroom door and out of sight, Qin Chaoyan retracted his gaze and looked at Lin Chao, who was still standing by the podium. He said flatly, “And then?”
“What?” Lin Chao snapped back to attention, turning to meet Qin Chaoyan’s slightly cool gaze, feeling his scalp tingle.
Qin Chaoyan looked at him, his tone meaningful. “You just said, ‘Very few couples who date in college actually stay together after graduation. Also, I’m substituting for Professor Li, so I must be…’ So what after ‘must be’?”
Of course, it was “must be from a less well-off family, so you’re helping your advisor to earn money.”
That was what Lin Chao had wanted to say before Professor Li arrived, but now, he was so embarrassed his toes curled, wishing he could dig a hole and disappear on the spot.
As for trying to poach someone’s partner, he wouldn’t dare even if he had ten more guts, especially not the partner of President Qin of Rongchao.
And after learning Qin Chaoyan’s identity, he inexplicably felt that Qin Chaoyan seemed a head taller than him, and his psychological pressure suddenly increased. Although… President Qin did seem to be taller than him to begin with.
Lin Chao, under Qin Chaoyan’s scrutinizing, chilling gaze, went from initial guilt to gradual panic, cold sweat breaking out on his palms.
He was still a student who hadn’t left school, completely unable to contend with Qin Chaoyan’s aura. He stammered for a long time, then finally cleared his throat, laughing dryly, “I meant to say, you must be very impressive to be able to substitute for Professor Li. So, I give you a thumbs up.”
After saying that, he turned to leave. But Qin Chaoyan suddenly said, “Wait.”
Instantly, Lin Chao froze as if under a spell. After two seconds, he turned around with difficulty, smiling as if he were crying, “President Qin, do you have any other instructions?”
Then he cautiously added, “What happens at school won’t involve the company, will it?”
If his dad found out, wouldn’t he get a good beating?
Qin Chaoyan walked step by step towards him, scrutinizing him for two seconds, then suddenly grabbed his collar and pulled him to a spot not directly facing the door and window.
Perhaps Qin Chaoyan’s aura was too strong, for Lin Chao’s face turned pale with fright, almost thinking he was about to hit him.
After Qin Chaoyan pulled him to stand against the wall, he let go and said, “Since you’ve finished speaking, it’s my turn.”
He casually scanned the other party, his voice unhurried, but every word seemed to carry weight, pressing down little by little.
“Student Lin, you enjoy learning and specifically came to a class you didn’t even take as an elective, which is a good thing. But coveting someone else’s boyfriend is very unethical. I don’t want to get angry or use unsavory methods, so please, do not approach my boyfriend again in the future, and do not harass him. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for me to control myself from gouging out your eyes and crippling your hands. Do you understand?”
The more he spoke, the gentler his tone became.
Lin Chao’s eyes, however, showed terror, and he nodded frantically.
Help! Just the day before yesterday, he heard his dad say that President Qin of Rongchao had worked at the Xie Group overseas in his early years and was the successor recognized by the Xie Group’s former head.
But that former head had dirty dealings and dared to do anything illegal, and his end was being sent to a mental hospital by President Qin, eventually driven mad and committing suicide.
What simple person could defeat the former head of the Xie family? Could he also dare to do anything, just like that former head? Help! This is Country C, where laws are strictly enforced. The other party shouldn’t dare, right?
The more Lin Chao thought, the more scared he became, pressing his body tightly against the wall, wishing he could turn and burrow into it. His gaze at Qin Chaoyan also began to look like he was seeing a gangster.
Qin Chaoyan saw his goal was achieved and took two steps back, his intimidating aura softening slightly.
Lin Chao breathed a sigh of relief, cautiously asking, “Then, President… Senior, can I leave now?”
Qin Chaoyan nodded.
Lin Chao felt as if he had been exonerated and quickly turned to leave, but just as he took a step—
“Wait,” Qin Chaoyan suddenly spoke again.
Lin Chao instantly froze, then with difficulty turned around, forcing a smile. “Senior, is there anything else?”
“I see that you seem to enjoy this course very much, so I’ll give you an assignment: write a ten-thousand-word paper based on the content discussed in class today and submit it to Professor Li. Just say… you reflected a lot after listening to the lecture and took the initiative to write it. Do you understand?” Qin Chaoyan said.
Lin Chao immediately looked like he was about to cry, nodding with difficulty, “Understood.”
“Remember, do not plagiarize, and do not find someone to ghostwrite for you,” Qin Chaoyan reminded, finally waving his hand and saying, “Alright, you can go back.”
He truly sounded a bit like a teacher.
Lin Chao, afraid he would be called back again, quickly turned and ran.
Ye Rongxu had just come out of the restroom when he saw Lin Chao scurrying away, as if someone with a knife was chasing him.
He froze for two seconds, then shook his head and turned to enter the classroom.
Qin Chaoyan had just finished tidying up his teaching materials and textbooks. Seeing Ye Rongxu, his expression softened, with no trace of the earlier coldness.
He walked over with his books, freeing up his hand to hold Ye Rongxu’s hand, which was a bit cool from being recently washed. After warming them, he said, “Do you want to go home for dinner or to a nearby restaurant?”
“Let’s go to a restaurant,” Ye Rongxu said.
If they went home, Qin Chaoyan would have to cook, which was a bit troublesome.
Then he curiously asked, “What did you say to Lin Chao just now? Why was he scared like a rabbit?”
Qin Chaoyan shook his head and said, “Nothing.”
Ye Rongxu didn’t believe him and kept staring at him.
Qin Chaoyan, helpless, briefly told him a few things, then embraced him tightly and took him to eat first.

“So? Did Senior really make him write a paper?” Xiao Pang asked curiously when they returned to the dorm that evening.
Ye Rongxu nodded.
Xiao Pang immediately burst into laughter, saying, “Senior’s move is clever. This way, Lin Chao will have to write two papers before graduation, won’t he?”
Ye Rongxu thought about it and said, “The paper he has to write today probably doesn’t have as high requirements as a graduation thesis, right?”
Xiao Pang nodded and couldn’t help but exclaim again, “But your boyfriend is really something. He can scare Lin Chao with just a few words.”
Ye Rongxu thought to himself: That’s because Lin Chao knew Qin Chaoyan was President Qin of Rongchao.
However, he didn’t tell Xiao Pang this for now, fearing that if he knew, he would feel uncomfortable interacting with him.
A week later, Ye Rongxu participated in the Comic Con held in Jing City.
Lin Jiaojiao was also an anime enthusiast, and such a grand event was not to be missed. She had asked Ye Rongxu to book tickets for her long in advance and also wanted to be there.
Two years ago, Ye Rongxu’s aunt had woken up from a vegetative state, which doctors called a miracle. Lin Jiaojiao had been accompanying her mother in rehabilitation for the past two years, and now that her mother could live independently, her burden had lightened.
It was a rare opportunity to attend an anime convention, and she was so happy that she arrived a day early.
Ye Rongxu picked her up at the airport. As soon as they met, he was enthusiastically hugged.
Then Lin Jiaojiao paused: Did I really get a hug? Was I not blocked by the jealous one? Was I not intentionally pulled away?
She couldn’t help but release her arms and curiously looked behind Ye Rongxu.
Ye Rongxu knew what she was thinking and lightly cleared his throat, “Qin Chaoyan has something going on at his company, so he didn’t come.”
“Oh,” no wonder.
Lin Jiaojiao understood. She thought, if her jealous brother-in-law were here, how could she possibly hug her cousin?
“Perfect, it’s just the two of us, so we can relax. Come on, let’s go browse,” she said, grabbing Ye Rongxu’s arm.
Then she noticed he was wearing thick down pants and exclaimed in surprise, “You’re still wearing these down pants?”
Ye Rongxu looked puzzled. “What’s wrong with these down pants?”
Lin Jiaojiao commented, “They’re too wide and thick; they look bulky and make your legs look less slender.”
Ye Rongxu’s face darkened. “Isn’t it enough that they’re warm?”
After speaking, he looked down at Lin Jiaojiao’s legs, adopting the air of a health-conscious old scholar, and said, “You can’t go out like that, with bare legs. You’ll freeze to death later. Jing City isn’t like Jiangcheng; it’s still very cold here in March. Don’t sacrifice warmth for style.”
As he spoke, he tried to pull her towards a shop near the airport to buy a thick pair of down pants first.
Lin Jiaojiao rolled her eyes at this. She took off the windproof sunglasses he was wearing and stretched out her leg, saying, “Look closely, why do you think I’m not wearing pants?”
Without the color distortion from the sunglasses, Ye Rongxu finally noticed his cousin was wearing a pair of leggings that were close to her skin tone. He still frowned, “They’re so thin, what good are they? Be careful, your legs might get cold later.”
“You don’t understand. These are ‘bare leg artifacts’; they’re actually very warm. For Jing City’s March weather, these are enough. I’ll just take it as you complimenting my slim legs.”
Ye Rongxu still shook his head. As a health guru, he felt that wearing these was not healthy enough.
Seeing this, Lin Jiaojiao decided to recommend them to him. “These pants are really warm, but if you have to attend some special occasions later, wearing thick down pants isn’t elegant. If you don’t wear them, your legs can’t stand the cold. You can wear these warm leggings underneath and then wear normal dress pants outside. They won’t look bulky at all, and you’ll still be warm.”
Ye Rongxu shook his head. “These are for girls to wear.”
“Nonsense,” Lin Jiaojiao straightened her face and said, “That’s a stereotype. Boys wear them too. Wear them inside, and then put on normal pants outside. You can’t tell, just like long johns, but they’re warmer than long johns.”
As they spoke, the two happened to walk out of the airport. A cold early spring wind blew, and Ye Rongxu felt a slight chill on his face, but his cousin beside him… really didn’t seem to feel cold.
He couldn’t help but be suspicious and asked, “Are they really warm?”
“Of course,” Lin Jiaojiao said decisively.
Ye Rongxu’s mind turned slightly, and he suddenly thought that perhaps these would be suitable for Qin Chaoyan. Sometimes in winter, Qin Chaoyan also had to wear suits and dress pants. It was fine in the car and at the company with air conditioning, but it would be cold outside.
If there were such warm but not too thick “long johns” under his dress pants…
“Send me the shop links,” Ye Rongxu suddenly said to Lin Jiaojiao.
Lin Jiaojiao was overjoyed at successfully making a sale. She quickly sent him all the shop links she liked and said, “There are also some offline stores. I’ll organize them and send them to you later.”
Ye Rongxu nodded, and once in the car, he began to research which styles to buy.
The driver was one of Qin Chaoyan’s assistants. After closing the car door, he respectfully asked, “Mr. Ye, where are we going?”
Ye Rongxu was engrossed in his phone and didn’t even look up when he heard the question. He simply said, “Home.”
Lin Jiaojiao: “!”
“Aren’t we going to look around first?” she asked in surprise.
Ye Rongxu glanced at her. “Look around for what?” He was going home to buy long johns for President Qin.
He paused, then added, “Or, do you want to go shopping by yourself later? I’ll have Jiang Ming drive you.”
Jiang Ming was the driving assistant.
Lin Jiaojiao wilted at this. “Forget it, it’s no fun shopping alone.”
The two returned to Ye Rongxu and Qin Chaoyan’s residence together. In the afternoon, they ordered takeout and made do with that.
When Qin Chaoyan returned in the evening, he personally cooked a table of home-cooked dishes.
Lin Jiaojiao frequently gave a thumbs-up as she ate, praising, “Brother Qin is still amazing, capable both in the living room and the kitchen.”
Then she asked curiously, “When are you two planning to have the wedding?”
Qin Chaoyan’s movement of serving Ye Rongxu food paused, and he turned to look at him.
Ye Rongxu was absentmindedly thinking about how none of the leggings he liked came in Qin Chaoyan’s size, so he didn’t hear the question.
Qin Chaoyan silently withdrew his gaze and said, “That depends on your brother’s wishes.”
So Lin Jiaojiao looked at Ye Rongxu, who was still preoccupied with the sizing issue and didn’t pay much attention.
Seeing this, Qin Chaoyan’s eyelids lowered slightly.
Lin Jiaojiao looked left and right, suddenly regretting bringing up the topic, and wisely remained silent.
Before going to bed that night, Qin Chaoyan went to the bathroom to shower. Ye Rongxu was leaning against the headboard, holding his phone, still researching leggings.
When Qin Chaoyan came out after his shower, he was still engrossed in his research.
Qin Chaoyan watched him for a while, finally unable to resist, and leaned closer, supporting himself with his arms on the bed.
Ye Rongxu felt a shadow fall over him. Reflexively, he hid his phone and looked up, meeting Qin Chaoyan’s gaze directly.
Seeing his action, Qin Chaoyan pursed his lips and said, “Xuxu, you seem to have something on your mind tonight.”
Ye Rongxu quickly shook his head. “No, not at all.”
He absolutely couldn’t let Qin Chaoyan know about buying leggings beforehand. If he knew, he would definitely forbid him from buying them.
Speaking of which, Qin Chaoyan was so tall and had long legs; it was really difficult to find a suitable size for him. But some so-called men’s leggings found online were just thicker, fleeced versions of long johns. They were certainly warm, but they looked bulky and didn’t achieve the “bare leg artifact” effect Lin Jiaojiao mentioned at all.
Sigh, so why were there so few men’s leggings? Boys also needed “bare leg artifacts.”
The more Ye Rongxu thought about it, the more his gaze drifted.
Qin Chaoyan’s eyes were dark and deep as he gazed at him. After a long while, he spoke again, “Today, your cousin asked when we’re getting married. What do you think?”
Ye Rongxu was still preoccupied with the sizing issue and absentmindedly said, “Whatever.”
It was unclear whether he even heard what Qin Chaoyan said.
Qin Chaoyan took a deep breath and simply said, “Then after you graduate, we’ll have the wedding?”
Ye Rongxu mumbled an “Mm,” seemingly agreeing, but in reality, he had thought of a new problem: even if he found pants of the right length, what about the looseness? What about the style? After all, they weren’t men’s pants; would they be too… tight? Too constricting?
Ye Rongxu’s ear tips suddenly turned a little red. His drifting gaze floated back, and he subconsciously looked down at Qin Chaoyan’s lower body.
They’d be tight, wouldn’t they? Definitely tight; after all, the other party always makes a mess of him…
Ye Rongxu’s ears reddened again, and he thought: Or, after buying them, should I alter the tight parts? Sigh, it’s all Qin Chaoyan’s fault for being so…
Seeing him constantly zoning out, Qin Chaoyan finally couldn’t help but reach out and pinch his chin, leaning in to ask, “What on earth are you thinking about?”
Ye Rongxu snapped back to reality, blinked, and subconsciously blurted out, “Thinking about why you had to grow so big for nothing?”
Qin Chaoyan: “…”
Ye Rongxu: “…” Uh oh, this is bad.
