Chapter 10 – Paper Man 9
Su Tang clutched the giant cookie, devouring it with a mouthful of crispy crumbs. His cheeks glistened with satisfaction as cookie crumbs stained his lips.
If this were someone else’s treat, he’d never have eaten so recklessly. But Luo Yuan was different—no need for manners here.
[ Su Tang: So delicious =v= ]
Luo Yuan glared at this status update, clearly aware that his little pet had been out playing so happily that he’d completely forgotten about his master.
Luo Yuan’s face hardened, his mood darkening. He’d been so good to this little ingrate, buying him all sorts of delicious treats. Yet this ungrateful creature had dared to sneak out and mooch food without even saying goodbye. What a worthless brat he’d taken in.
Furious, Luo Yuan abruptly pulled the cookie plate toward him with a sharp tug.
Su Tang, caught completely off guard, tumbled from his seat like a crash test dummy in a drift car accident.
In his anger, Luo Yuan didn’t bother picking up a single cookie. He brought the entire plate to his mouth, grabbed a cookie, and bit down viciously, as if the cookie itself was the person he wanted to devour.
Su Tang sat dazed on the snow-white porcelain plate, still recovering from the sudden movement. Before he could react, a magnified handsome face loomed closer, as if about to devour him whole like a plate of food.
Su Tang jumped in surprise. Luo Yuan had taken a bite from the cookie right beside him, but their close proximity meant Su Tang accidentally brushed against him, foolishly planting a kiss on the corner of Luo Yuan’s mouth.
The scene looked as if Luo Yuan had deliberately leaned in to kiss him.
Su Tang froze.
Damn, that was my first kiss!
His heart raced, pounding so hard it felt like it might burst through his chest. A complex mix of emotions flooded through him.
At the same moment, Luo Yuan saw the text message on his phone:
[ Su Tang: My first kiss is gone!!! ]
Luo Yuan’s expression darkened. With a sharp snap, he crushed the cookie between his fingers, reducing it to crumbs.
[ Su Tang: …Seems like I’m a bit smitten? ]
Luo Yuan grew even more furious. His face turned stormy as he imagined dragging Su Tang back and giving him a thorough spanking.
Unfortunately, while his mind burned with desire to punish, the little man was still out traveling—enjoying himself to the fullest. There was no chance to catch him and deliver the promised discipline. Luo Yuan continued working with a frosty expression, his teeth grinding so hard they might have shattered the cookie himself.
After a moment of blushing, Su Tang patted his burning face and slowly regained his composure. That had just been an accident, and Luo Yuan knew nothing about it. Best to pretend it never happened.
Fresh out of the phone, Su Tang was initially curious and excited. But before long, the novelty wore off, leaving him feeling bored. He was so small that everything around him seemed too big. Luo Yuan’s office couldn’t possibly have anything fun for him to play with.
Just as Su Tang was considering returning to the game, the system materialized his bedroom items—the beanbag pillow, phone, gaming console, and comic books—right beside him. The system’s purpose was clear: to keep him engaged outside the digital world.
Su Tang had originally planned to stay outside anyway. He needed to keep an eye on Luo Yuan to prevent him from getting too close to the female lead and altering the story’s course. While the game offered comfort, it made completing tasks inconvenient. After spending time with Luo Yuan, Su Tang genuinely considered him a good friend. He certainly didn’t want to see him meet the tragic fate prescribed by the original plot.
With the system having brought his phone, Su Tang settled comfortably on the desk beside Luo Yuan. He occasionally glanced at his friend before returning to his game with satisfied contentment.
The contrast between the cold, stern Luo Yuan and the cute, playful Su Tang couldn’t be more striking. Yet despite their differences in style and personality, the two formed an inexplicable harmony when together.
When it was time for lunch, the assistant came in to remind them.
Su Tang had been engrossed in his comic book. Upon hearing Luo Yuan might be leaving, he hastily tossed aside the comic and scampered over to Luo Yuan. He climbed onto his palm, then scampered up his arm, barely managing to reach Luo Yuan’s shoulder before he stood up.
As Luo Yuan rose, Su Tang’s footing wobbled violently, like standing through an earthquake. Losing his balance, he instinctively flailed his arms, accidentally grabbing Luo Yuan’s earlobe in the process.
The slight itch in Luo Yuan’s ear made him think a bug had bitten him. He reflexively touched his ear, but Su Tang seized the opportunity to hook onto his finger, using the grip to steady himself. With a tiny sigh of relief, he managed to maintain his perch.
Standing high on Luo Yuan’s shoulder, Su Tang felt like a dwarf atop a giant’s shoulders. The thrill of the height overwhelmed his fear.
After regaining his composure, Su Tang suddenly remembered his belongings left on the table. Oh no, I almost forgot!
The system chimed in at that moment, “Host, don’t worry. I’ve already moved everything back to your room.”
Su Tang looked at his temporary hideout and found it completely empty. Smiling, he said, “Thanks, Tongtong.”
[ No need to thank me. I exist to assist the host, you know. ]
Standing for too long would tire him out, so Su Tang decided to sit on Luo Yuan’s shoulder instead. He gripped the collar of Luo Yuan’s shirt, its stiff fabric providing just enough support for him to perch comfortably.
Su Tang was eagerly anticipating their meal, his eyes sparkling with anticipation. But he soon realized Luo Yuan had been sitting in the car for over an hour without reaching the restaurant.
His stomach growled audibly. He looked down and rubbed his belly. Why are we going so far just for dinner? he wondered. Aren’t there good places near the office? Even the cafeteria would be fine.
Swallowing hard, Su Tang gazed at Luo Yuan’s jade-white profile, feeling an almost irresistible urge to take a bite.
Fortunately, the car arrived at their destination not long after—the city’s international airport.
Only then did Su Tang realize Luo Yuan was going on a business trip.
The assistant followed behind with luggage, handling check-in and security procedures before they finally had time for dinner.
Though they were in the terminal, the restaurant Luo Yuan chose served exceptionally delicious food.
Su Tang busied himself moving around the table, sampling every dish with shining eyes. He thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Being small, he only needed a little food to feel full, so there was no risk of Luo Yuan noticing anything unusual.
After finishing his meal, Su Tang noticed sauce at the corner of his mouth. He wanted to wipe it off, but the napkin was too large—he didn’t need that much, and an extra napkin would be too conspicuous. So, Su Tang walked over to Luo Yuan’s hand, bent down, and rubbed his mouth against the napkin in Luo Yuan’s palm.
Su Tang wiped his mouth clean, chuckling in triumph as he prepared to leave. But suddenly, Luo Yuan’s hand shot forward, trapping Su Tang in his palm and lifting it up. Startled, Su Tang instinctively grabbed Luo Yuan’s thumb, leaving his body suspended in mid-air and gradually moving closer to Luo Yuan’s mouth.
Holy shit!
Seeing the risk of being stuffed into Luo Yuan’s mouth, Su Tang desperately struggled and escaped from the palm. He leaped onto Luo Yuan’s shoulder, but lost his footing, slipping and rolling down like a ball.
Freefalling!
Su Tang was so scared he couldn’t even scream, but surprisingly, it didn’t hurt at all. He landed earlier than expected. Confused, he felt only soft fabric beneath his hands. Dazed, he crawled up and realized he’d fallen into the pocket on Luo Yuan’s chest. Standing up, only his small head and two short hands gripping the pocket edge were visible.
Wow.
The view here is fantastic, and I don’t have to worry about falling. What a perfect vantage point!
Su Tang decided to settle in here for now.
