TVAAMRF Chapter 11

Paper Man (Part 10)

Chapter 11 – Paper Man 10

Su Tang nestled in Luo Yuan’s shirt pocket, excitedly turning his head to look around, feeling quite happy.

In contrast, someone else’s expression was far from pleasant. He was like a walking iceberg, emitting cold energy that made people instinctively take the long way around when they saw him.

Luo Yuan checked his phone periodically, but the room remained empty.

If Luo Yuan’s mood could be displayed above his head, it would be plummeting wildly while his anger levels skyrocketed.

Yet he never imagined Su Tang was so close—quietly resting in his shirt pocket.

They boarded the plane.

Luo Yuan’s face was stormy. Checking his phone again only increased his irritation. Deciding not to look at it anymore, he planned to sleep until they landed.

Su Tang, hidden in the pocket, couldn’t see Luo Yuan’s face. Looking up at his chin, he realized Luo Yuan seemed asleep. Yawning and rubbing his eyes, Su Tang lay down to sleep too.

However, they didn’t sleep through the entire flight. Halfway through, nearby noises woke them up.

Su Tang was a deep sleeper. Even loud noises wouldn’t wake him—he could sleep like a pig. He woke up because Luo Yuan got up. By the time he became fully awake, Luo Yuan was already washing his hands at the sink.

Su Tang blinked twice before belatedly realizing Luo Yuan had been using the restroom. Fortunately, he woke up a moment too late; otherwise, he might have witnessed something he shouldn’t have.

This business trip for Luo Yuan was an urgent matter. He hadn’t had time to request a private jet route and instead had his assistant book the fastest available commercial flight. Though it was first-class, the seats weren’t particularly luxurious—merely wider than economy class with slightly more attentive service.

When Luo Yuan returned from the restroom, he found someone had taken the empty seat beside him. From the flight attendant’s conversation, it seemed there had been a minor incident in the rear cabin. The woman’s original seat had become dirty, making it unsuitable for use, so she’d been reassigned here.

Luo Yuan glanced briefly at the newcomer before settling back into his seat without acknowledgement.

The young woman beside him kept stealing glances, her gaze lingering on him as if she wanted to speak but hesitated.

At first, Su Tang didn’t notice. But when he felt her eyes on him, he turned to look. The woman had delicate features—jet-black hair, alabaster skin, a face as small as a palm, and eyes that held a timid vulnerability that made one want to protect her.

A sense of wariness stirred in Su Tang. He widened his eyes, his fingers unconsciously clenching the edge of Luo Yuan’s jacket pocket.

After a moment, the woman couldn’t resist speaking up. She asked shyly, “Um… are you going to Hai City too?”

Luo Yuan finally turned to look at her. His handsome face and deep, dark eyes made it easy for people to imagine he was gazing at them with intense affection.

The woman’s face flushed even redder.

But Luo Yuan looked genuinely confused. “We’re on the same plane. If I’m not going to Hai City, do you think I’d jump out mid-flight just to eat chicken?”

The woman… froze instantly, mortified beyond belief.

Su Tang, who had been nervously tiptoeing to peek at their exchange, was so startled by this response that he nearly burst into laughter. He choked back a snort, barely containing himself.

Holy shit, that’s brilliant! The ultimate steel man! Now I get why Luo Yuan is so handsome yet single—he’s destined to be alone forever!

Su Tang assumed the woman would be too embarrassed to speak again after that. But surprisingly, she grew more determined. Within two minutes, she was already looking at Luo Yuan with a bashful expression and whispering, “Have you forgotten me? We’ve met several times before.”

Su Tang pressed his lips together, looking somewhat displeased.

The woman seemed nervous. She tucked stray strands of hair behind her ear and said softly, “I’m Chen Yingying. You spoke to me not long ago.”

Luo Yuan paused, as if recalling something.

Su Tang reacted violently. Chen Yingying! That’s the female lead, isn’t it?!

Instantly, the highest-level red alarm blared in his mind, its sound piercing.

Absolutely must prevent Luo Yuan from having too much contact with her.

Su Tang urgently looked up at Luo Yuan, noticing their locked gaze. Fearing sparks might fly at any moment, he hastily grabbed Luo Yuan’s clothes and scrambled upward. Perhaps spurred by panic, he mustered unexpected strength, huffing and puffing as he climbed like a rock climber. In no time, he reached Luo Yuan’s shoulder.

“Are you the one who brings lunch to the office?” Luo Yuan asked.

Chen Yingying’s face alternated between red and pale, as if embarrassed. She bit her lip and nodded slightly.

Luo Yuan’s tone was like a school dean’s. “Do you still bring lunch now?”

Chen Yingying shook her head. “I eat at the company cafeteria.”

Luo Yuan said calmly, “It tastes decent, doesn’t it? Now you understand how foolish your actions were, right?”

Chen Yingying’s expression stiffened. “…Mhm.”

Luo Yuan suddenly felt a twinge on his scalp, thinking he’d caught something. He tilted his head. In reality, Su Tang was standing on his shoulder, toes curled, furiously tugging at his hair to stop him from talking to the female lead.

Truthfully, even without Su Tang’s interference, Luo Yuan had no intention of continuing. He’d only spoken to Chen Yingying about these two points purely out of concern for the company’s employee welfare.

But clearly, Chen Yingying didn’t see it that way. The first time she’d laid eyes on Luo Yuan, she’d been utterly captivated. Later, when she discovered he was the company president, she found it both surprising yet inevitable—his very presence radiated an unmistakable air of authority. With his striking looks and icy ascetic demeanor, he naturally inspired the desire to conquer the opposite sex.

Moreover, she didn’t believe Luo Yuan harbored no interest in her. She’d always been confident in her appearance, with admirers flocking around her since childhood. Even if Luo Yuan showed no current interest, who’s to say he wouldn’t in the future?

Today, by another fortunate coincidence, she encountered Luo Yuan. Not wanting to let this opportunity slip away, she resolved to make herself more noticeable. As for the lunch box incident, it didn’t matter if it was useless—she hadn’t intended to do it anyway. With the company cafeteria offering such delicious meals, who would waste sleep time just to maintain a “little white flower” image men supposedly adore?

Conquering Luo Yuan would be challenging, but she thrived on such endeavors. Men who came crawling at a mere finger wave held no interest for her. Suddenly, Chen Yingying’s mind flashed with the image of a domineering yet handsome face, making her furrowed her brow. She’d initially found that man’s looks and certain… attributes appealing, but his mental state proved disturbing. Claiming he owned her like some delusional suitor? Even stranger, she’d found herself inexplicably falling under his spell, obeying his every word as if enchanted by a love potion.

What nonsense! Was she the type to hang her hopes on one tree? Her phone contact list overflowed with fresh-faced beauties waiting for her attention. With her striking appearance, binding herself to one man would be a waste. Why not reign as a sea king, basking in the ocean of possibilities?

Chen Yingying’s lips curved into a sweet smile as she continued cooing at Luo Yuan.

But Luo Yuan had no interest in listening. His eyes remained glued to his phone.

[ Su Tang: LOL, “destined to be alone” ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! ]

[ Su Tang: Feeling sour and jealous now. ]

[ Su Tang: I! Am! Not! Amused! ]

Luo Yuan glared at the system’s commentary, his mind instantly conjuring up a series of melodramatic scenes. His mood worsened as he stewed over Su Tang’s message. To make matters worse, an employee he’d met only once kept chattering incessantly beside him. His expression grew stormier with each passing moment.

At first, he tried maintaining courtesy by ignoring her, hoping she’d take the hint and stop. But she might as well have been talking to herself, completely oblivious to his displeasure.

Finally, Luo Yuan snapped. “You’re too loud,” he snapped bluntly. “Can you please shut up?”

Chen Yingying’s face paled, tears welling in her eyes. “I’m sorry,” she whimpered, putting on her most pitiful expression. “Did I… did I bother you? I didn’t mean to. I just… I never expected to see you here. I was so excited, I just had to talk to you. I’m really, really sorry. Can you forgive me?”

Luo Yuan’s frustration boiled over. If you’re sorry, just shut up already! he thought. Why keep talking? It’s even more annoying now. He massaged his temples, the headache from lack of sleep throbbing in rhythm with Chen Yingying’s incessant chatter.

“Please, I’m begging you!” Chen Yingying continued her desperate pleas. “Can’t you forgive me?” She refused to believe any man could resist the sight of such a beautiful, vulnerable face.

But unfortunately, Luo Yuan was truly bothered. His face hardened as he summoned a flight attendant, pointed at Chen Yingying, and said coldly, “She’s been disturbing me constantly. Please handle this. Otherwise, I can’t bear it anymore.”

The flight attendant offered an apologetic smile, immediately turning to remind Chen Yingying. Her tone was gentle and courteous, but with tears streaming down Chen Yingying’s face, it made the attendant seem like the bully. Despite her professional training, the attendant’s expression stiffened into something unpleasant. She stopped speaking and instead paced through the first-class cabin. Whenever Chen Yingying tried to open her mouth, the attendant would stand by her seat, silently blocking her words. She reminded Chen Yingying that she was an economy-class passenger who’d been temporarily seated here due to special circumstances. If she continued disturbing others, they’d have to ask her to return to her original seat.

Chen Yingying, humiliated, could only lower her head and weep silently, her anger so fierce she felt like she could rip apart a bull.

Aaaaaah! This infuriates me! What kind of dog-man is this?! Are his eyes broken?! With this beautiful face and sweet voice of mine, how dare he reject me?!

Throughout this, Su Tang stood perched on Luo Yuan’s shoulder, watching the drama unfold like a spectator. He’d initially considered revealing himself to stop Luo Yuan, but the situation had taken an unexpected turn. Moreover, why did it feel like the female lead might be… slightly… green tea?

Su Tang was relieved to see Luo Yuan remained indifferent toward the female lead. He gently patted Luo Yuan’s chin, gave him a thumbs-up, then requested headache relief medication from the system. This powerful cheat code immediately smoothed Luo Yuan’s furrowed brow, banishing his earlier discomfort and easing his tense expression.

Satisfied, Su Tang slid down like a child on a slide, falling back into his pocket where he curled up to sleep.

Luo Yuan unconsciously pressed a hand to his chest, separated from Su Tang by only a thin layer of fabric. For some inexplicable reason, this closeness felt reassuring. Luo Yuan closed his eyes and drifted off.

In his dream, Luo Yuan tracked down the runaway little rascal, dragged him back, and gave him a thorough spanking.

Author’s Note:

The “steel straight man” dialogue comes from online memes.

Some female leads may appear as delicate white lotus flowers, but in reality, they’re just green-tea masochists desperate to be a sea king.
