Chapter 15 – Paper Man 14
To divert Su Tang’s attention, Luo Yuan opened his computer and suggested watching a movie together. He navigated to a video streaming site, casually selecting a film from the popular section. The opening scene plunged them into darkness, followed by a flickering, dim candlelight that cast eerie shadows. Mysterious, ominous music began to creep through the speakers, enveloping their ears.
It was a horror film.
Su Tang—the cowardly Su Tang—stared wide-eyed, his face stiffening unnaturally.
Noticing this, Luo Yuan tilted his head and asked, “Are you scared? Want to switch to something else?”
Su Tang, stubbornly clinging to his masculine pride, refused to admit fear. He shook his head vigorously, insisting, “Who said I’m scared? I love horror movies! I’ve watched plenty!”
Luo Yuan pressed his lips together to suppress a laugh, nodding indulgently. “Alright then, let’s stick with this one.”
Now thoroughly annoyed with himself, Su Tang wanted to slap his own stupid face. But having already made his declaration, he found himself trapped. Swallowing hard, he straightened his back and forced a stoic expression as he stared at the screen.
The horror film’s atmosphere was rendered with such perfection—the music’s rhythm hitting just the right notes. Things would suddenly pop up, sending chills down your spine and making your scalp prickle.
Su Tang clutched his pant legs tightly, his entire body tense. When the female lead opened the cabinet to reveal a deathly pale child with pitch-black eyes, he shuddered violently. He shrank behind Luo Yuan, covering his eyes with desperate hands.
Luo Yuan feigned confusion. “What’s wrong?”
“…I’m a bit thirsty,” Su Tang said dryly.
Luo Yuan stood to fetch water, but Su Tang clung to his clothes so tightly he couldn’t move. Luo Yuan chuckled helplessly. “My cup is right there. I’ll be right back.”
Su Tang released him instantly, waving his hand with mock dignity. “I’m fine.”
As promised, Luo Yuan returned immediately. Instead of handing over the cup, he brought it directly to Su Tang’s lips. Perhaps due to Luo Yuan’s casual demeanor, Su Tang didn’t notice anything amiss. He lowered his head to drink, long eyelashes trembling with residual fear.
After watching a horror movie, it was time to sleep. When Su Tang turned off the light, darkness enveloped the bedroom, making him even more afraid. He felt as if some indescribable terror was lurking in the shadows, and he kept imagining ghostly hands crawling out from under the bed.
So, Su Tang slowly scooted toward the middle of the bed, wanting to touch Luo Yuan. Even just having his arm pressed against him would be enough.
Just as he finally felt a bit of warmth and was about to sigh in relief, he suddenly felt something cold grab his hand!
Su Tang shuddered in fright, nearly screaming. Cold sweat broke out on his back.
The night was very quiet.
Any sound would be magnified many times.
Luo Yuan heard faint sobbing beside him. For a moment, he was stunned, then quickly reached out to touch Su Tang’s face. As expected, he found it wet with tears.
“Crying?”
Luo Yuan was somewhat surprised, not expecting him to be so afraid of ghosts. In the next moment, without thinking, he pulled Su Tang into his arms and held him firmly.
Su Tang realized that the cold hand that had grabbed him was Luo Yuan’s. He tried to pull away, but Luo Yuan held him so tightly that he couldn’t move at all.
Holding him, Luo Yuan gently stroked his back, soothing him: “Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
Su Tang was enveloped by warm body heat, completely restrained. The dominant presence pressed against him irresistibly, forcing him to adopt the same scent until they seemed fused as one.
Originally tense and rigid, Su Tang gradually relaxed without realizing it, his fear dissipating. He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep in Luo Yuan’s embrace.
The next day, Su Tang was nudged awake. With eyes closed and brow furrowed, he grumbled, “I’m still sleepy,” then turned and burrowed deeper under the covers.
“You’ll be late if you don’t get up now.”
Startled awake, Su Tang sprang upright in reflex. Only after blinking his eyes clear did he remember—he’d already died once, no longer needed to work. He’d become a paper person. Scanning his surroundings, he recognized neither the room nor the figure standing by the bed—Luo Yuan.
“I’m going to the company,” Luo Yuan announced.
Still half-asleep, Su Tang nodded impatiently, ready to wave goodbye and collapse back onto the mattress.
“Come with me,” Luo Yuan added.
“…Why?!” Su Tang protested silently. I’m not an employee! No salary! I need sleep!
Despite his reluctance, Luo Yuan still dragged him downstairs like a child being forced to go to preschool.
When Su Tang finished washing up and came downstairs wearing Luo Yuan’s clothes, the housekeeper couldn’t hide his shock. It was understandable—Luo Yuan had never brought anyone home before, let alone let someone wear his clothes. But the housekeeper’s professional training kicked in quickly, and he regained his composure. In fact, he felt somewhat pleased. Having watched Young Master Luo Yuan grow up, he’d practically considered him half a son. To see him finally have someone to keep him company after all these years—how could he not be happy?
Still, when had this person arrived? How had he not heard a single sound?
The housekeeper was puzzled, but he immediately instructed the kitchen to prepare an extra breakfast.
Su Tang yawned, his entire body feeling sluggish and unmotivated. Come to think of it, he hadn’t been this lazy in his previous life. Back then, he’d had to wake up at five or six to study, work part-time jobs to pay for tuition and living expenses, and push himself to the limit every day. But after transmigrating here, he’d suddenly realized his dream—he could finally be a carefree slacker, sleeping until his body naturally woke up. It was absolutely fantastic.
Now that he was suddenly being made to wake up early, he found it somewhat disorienting.
Su Tang began to miss his cozy little nest. With a sigh, he said, “I want to go back.”
Luo Yuan, sitting right beside him, heard every word clearly. His eyes darkened as he murmured, “This place can be your home too.”
Su Tang tilted his head to look at him, utterly perplexed.
But Luo Yuan didn’t elaborate. Instead, he picked up a steamed bun and stuffed it into Su Tang’s mouth. Su Tang’s attention was instantly diverted, his eyes lighting up as he exclaimed, “Mmm, delicious!”
He lowered his head and focused on eating. After breakfast, when it was time to leave, Su Tang still refused to give up. He might have died from overwork in his previous life and been reincarnated here—he had a deep-seated fear of companies! It was true!
Su Tang clutched at Luo Yuan’s sleeve, pleading pitifully, “Master, I don’t want to go.”
Before Luo Yuan could respond, the butler beside them suddenly jerked his head up, his face contorted with barely contained shock.
Master? These young people nowadays…
The times had changed. He really couldn’t understand them anymore.
Luo Yuan’s ears turned slightly red, feeling a bit awkward. He cleared his throat and reminded softly, “My name is Luo Yuan.”
After saying that, Su Tang also felt quite frustrated. He’d gotten used to calling him that in the game, and it hadn’t felt strange when they were separated by the dimensional barrier. But now he realized how truly embarrassing it was!
While he was distracted and relaxed, Luo Yuan took his hand and led him out of the villa, steering him into a car.

Luo Yuan: “How can Tangtang look so beautiful when he cries?”
Su Tang: …
Good day, readers!
Long time no see~ It’s been almost two weeks, hehe, sorry! I actually planned to update last weekend, but suddenly my university’s Student Representative Council held a congress, and all organization leaders were required to attend (yep, that includes me, hehe). The congress went on for four days to discuss student organization regulations on campus. It ran from morning till night, so I couldn’t even open my laptop.
Then on Monday, midterms started, and I had to catch up on all the projects I missed because of the congress and, well, because of play rehearsal too, hehe.
As an apology, I’m uploading 10 chapters at once to catch up on the missed update schedule!
Really sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you so much for waiting 💗
