TVAAMRF Chapter 24

Paper Man (Part 23)

Chapter 24 – Paper Man 23

The plot was still developing, though with significant changes. The biggest difference lay in the project held by the male lead, the “Bao” CEO. In the original story, the protagonist’s golden halo shone brightly—every project he acquired was guaranteed to be a money-making gold mine. But this time, the villain’s intelligence was on point, aided by Su Tang’s assistance. Chen Yingying had stolen confidential documents, but Su Tang replaced them with a worthless project through a classic bait-and-switch.

At first glance, the project seemed promising, attracting fierce competition from various parties. However, Luo Yuan’s extensive network, combined with his sharp judgment and meticulous approach, prevented him from blindly grabbing at apparent opportunities. Through fragments of conversation at a banquet, he deduced an impending policy shift from higher-ups. Realizing the project would inevitably fail, he decisively abandoned it.

In the original narrative, Luo Yuan’s judgment was clouded by the protagonist’s golden halo, leading him to make a catastrophic mistake that caused massive losses for the company. The board’s dissatisfaction eroded his authority, while the male lead, guided by Luo Father, secured an even more lucrative project. This stark contrast set Luo Yuan on a path to darkening.

But now, the protagonist’s golden halo had weakened. Driven by impatience and blind ambition, he swore to make everyone bow before him. At this critical juncture, Luo Father was away on an extended business trip abroad, leaving no one to restrain the protagonist. His inevitable failure on the worthless project became as certain as a nail driven into wood.

While Luo Chen was busy working himself to the bone, Luo Yuan’s life was calm and peaceful, so relaxed it bordered on annoying.

Luo Yuan used to only have work to focus on, but now that he’d taken in a paper person, he found himself wanting to settle down.

Last time Su Tang got unexpectedly drunk, he clung to Luo Yuan even when barely conscious, wrapping his arms around him possessively and declaring, “Mine.”

Luo Yuan froze for a moment, then his heart swelled with joy, overflowing with happiness.

Normally, if someone grabbed you and claimed you as their property, you’d be furious, slapping them across the face and shouting, “Yours? What the hell! I’m my own person!” But when these words come from the person you love, it’s like eating honey—sweet because it means they feel the same way about you.

So while Luo Chen was passionately working on his project, Luo Yuan held Su Tang in his arms, feeling utterly content; when Luo Chen noticed something was wrong and panicked, Luo Yuan was stroking Su Tang’s soft, curly hair, his heart melting into a puddle; and when Luo Chen was overwhelmed with stress and anger, Luo Yuan kissed Su Tang for the first time.

At that moment, they were at the villa. Su Tang was eating a crepe with his head bowed, his lips slightly parted. His porcelain-white teeth bit into the golden-brown, delicious crepe, and a small corner of it disappeared.

Luo Yuan saw the cream at the corner of his mouth and felt his heart skip a beat. As if possessed by a demon, he leaned forward and kissed Su Tang’s lips—soft, sweet, warm, even more delicious than he’d imagined.

The iceberg deep within his heart collapsed with a roar, completely occupied by one person, leaving no place to hide.

After the initial impulse, Luo Yuan was momentarily dazed, then filled with full-blown anxiety, fearing Su Tang might have even the slightest bit of disgust. After all, in the game, when he’d chosen the kiss option, the little man had worn a face of utter avoidance.

But that time, Su Tang had been afraid of ghosts, scared by the shadows—it wasn’t that he disliked Luo Yuan. On the contrary, Su Tang’s fondness for him was very high, as the game’s stats clearly showed.

Now that he’d suddenly been kissed by Luo Yuan, he was momentarily stunned, but there was no resistance in his heart—instead, he quite liked it. Since he liked it, Su Tang followed his heart and responded, sticking out his tongue to touch Luo Yuan’s lips.

This one touch was no small matter.

Luo Yuan was nearly crazed. He seized the back of Su Tang’s head, kissing him with brutal force—a savage assault on the castle walls, a wild rampage of passion. Every ounce of his pent-up excitement poured into this frenzied kiss, leaving nothing held back.

Su Tang felt like he was drowning, flailing like a fish out of water. Only then did Luo Yuan regain his senses, loosening his grip but refusing to let go. The violent kiss transformed into tender licks and pecks.

The earlier kiss had been so reckless that Luo Yuan’s lips had bled. The metallic sweetness of his blood hung in the air, driving Su Tang wild with desire.

Unable to resist, Su Tang bit down.

He swore it was just a tiny nibble.

Luo Yuan hissed in pain, his arms still locked around Su Tang’s waist. He laughed helplessly, indulgently. “Starving? Such a sweet tooth?”

Su Tang blinked his glistening black eyes, the corners tinged red. He wore the innocent expression of a cat who’d just broken a vase in a moment of mischief, caught red-handed by its owner. With those beautiful feline eyes and a paw licked clean, he’d say defiantly: So what if I broke your vase?

Luo Yuan pinched his cheek, adopting the exact attitude of a cat owner who couldn’t stay mad at his pet.

After that kiss, the atmosphere between them changed instantly. They had always been close, inseparable, but this kiss seemed to break through the last thin barrier, making them even more clingy and intimate. Moreover, once you’ve had your first kiss, isn’t the second, third… even the nth one just around the corner?

While they were basking in sweetness, the male lead was enduring great suffering. He stared at the disastrous report from his subordinates, so angry he lost his mind, smashing things like a madman.

Father Luo had finally returned from abroad. The moment he arrived, he saw this huge mess. Even worse was the massive loss… Father Luo’s vision darkened, and he nearly fainted.

Even when seeing his beloved youngest son, Father Luo couldn’t manage a smile. He roared furiously, “How could you be so stupid? Have you got a pig’s brain?”

Luo Chen had never been scolded like this by his father before. The frustration and disappointment that had built up over days coalesced into resentment, which he vented on Father Luo. “You blame me? Wasn’t it your teaching?! You told me to be bold, to strive, to compete with Luo Yuan! Didn’t I secure a major project? How could I know such an unexpected accident would happen? Instead of cursing me, why don’t you focus on finding solutions?”

Seeing Luo Chen’s defiance, Luo Father grew even more furious. “I didn’t let you compete so you could scavenge trash! Can’t you use your brain for once?”

Luo Chen’s eyes burned with resentment as he snarled, “Ha! You call me a trash scavenger? If you despise me so much, why keep me as your son? Go find Luo Yuan instead!”

Veins bulged on Luo Father’s forehead. Unable to contain his rage, he slapped Luo Chen across the face with a resounding crack. The stinging pain erupted instantly. Luo Chen’s eyes widened in shock. After a frozen moment, his gaze ignited with fury, his expression twisted into something bestial, as if he might devour his father whole.

“How dare you strike me?!”

Luo Chen glared at his father, eyes crimson, breathing like a bull. With five finger marks stark on his face, he turned without a backward glance and stormed away.

The chasm between father and son deepened into an unbridgeable rift.

Later, Su Tang received a system notification: “Host, your mission completion rate is now 85/100. You’re close to success.”

Su Tang blinked in surprise. “That fast?”

System: “Correct. Both the male lead’s career and romance plotlines have collapsed. The female lead hasn’t influenced the villain either. Host has successfully prevented the villain’s darkening path.”

Su Tang: “Collapsed? The leads aren’t together?”

System: “Yes. The female lead’s affection for the male lead is negative. Should Host review the situation?”

Though Su Tang had previously noticed inconsistencies in the protagonist’s character, such a complete collapse was unexpected. He nodded curiously.

In the next moment, a holographic-like image materialized before Su Tang. It showed the female lead Chen Yingying and her confidante.

Chen Yingying: “It started as a drunken one-night stand. When I woke up, the guy was handsome and we’d had good sex, so I thought we could develop something. Who the fuck knew he was a psycho?! ‘You’re my woman,’ he keeps saying, ‘Don’t do this, don’t do that. If you’re good, I’ll let you bear my children.’ Fuck! Is that even human speech? Who does he think he is? I’d refuse to bear his child even if he begged! Damn! Does he have an imperial throne to inherit or something? The Great Qing dynasty’s already dead, you know!”

Her best friend’s eyes widened in shock, her face contorting into a forced meme-worthy expression. “There’s actually people like that? It’s a miracle he even survived to adulthood without getting beaten to death!”

“Stop interrupting me!” Chen Yingying snapped.

“Fine, fine. Carry on, oh great one,” her friend replied with mock deference.

Chen Yingying’s expression turned venomous. “What’s even worse is how he keeps saying he likes me while acting all clingy with other women. It’s a blatant insult to my charm! Who would bother with him if it weren’t for his… certain facial abilities? Do you know what I discovered? That despicable man actually drugged me! Drugged me! I’m convinced he’s a fucking pervert! All this was just to cover up his defects! Don’t you agree? Hey! Why aren’t you responding? Are you siding with that disgusting creep?!”

“…Didn’t you just tell me not to speak?” her friend retorted. “And as if I’d support that bastard! A worthless mutt like him should’ve died long ago—it’s a waste of resources keeping him alive!”

“But if he’s that terrible,” her friend pressed, “why are you still with him?”

Chen Yingying: “I want to know too! Don’t be surprised, but I feel like I’m under a spell when I’m around him. My brain turns to mush—I start thinking everything about him is perfect. It’s downright bizarre. Last time he even asked me to steal confidential company documents, and I actually went and did it like some idiot!”

Bestie: “You really stole them? For a massive conglomerate like the Luo Group, that could get you into serious trouble…”

Chen Yingying waved her hand dismissively. “Don’t worry. I’m fine now that I’ve distanced myself from him. I’m not stupid enough to be his pawn. I gave him fake documents—scrapped projects from years ago. Heh, he must be going crazy right now. Let me tell you, there’s something seriously wrong with his head. He even dared to break into my house! That’s blatant trespassing! If this were abroad, I’d have shot him through the skull already.”

Bestie shrieked: “He broke into your house?! You’re a danger magnet! No wonder you’re hiding here. Pack your bags now while he’s busy screwing things up. This place isn’t safe. I’ll come with you to hide abroad for a while. Wait, I need to quit my job first.”

Chen Yingying laughed. “It’s fine. I’ve already quit my job, so he doesn’t have the energy to bother with me now. Besides, if he thinks he can mess with me, does he really think I’m defenseless? If he dares come, I’ll have those big brothers from the streets put him in a sack, beat him black and blue, and then… destroy his manhood!”

She smirked darkly, making a slicing motion with her hand.

Watching this scene, Su Tang’s expression turned peculiar, feeling a strange ache below his waist.

This female lead…

…is truly badass.

He almost felt sorry for the male lead.

No, wait. The male lead is such trash. Why would I feel sorry for him?

Author’s Note:

The female lead curses at the male lead: “You worthless street rat! Go fuck yourself!”

Su Tang: …Before, I thought I could shake some sense into the female lead’s head. I was too naive. My apologies, my apologies! [Panda bowing.jpg]
