Honeymoon
Before the wedding, Qi Ke and Song Yushi spent a whole week discussing their honeymoon destination via WeChat. Fearing they would be followed by paparazzi in the country, they mostly chose countries in North America and Western Europe, planning to fly there directly after the wedding ceremony.
But on the night of the wedding, Song Yushi received a phone call.
It was from Lin Zhouwan, an internationally renowned director, a three-time Oscar nominee for Best Director, whose masterpiece 《The Human World》 had won Best Film at the Berlin Film Festival. He had single-handedly propelled many stars, who are still active on the front lines of the film industry today, to fame.
Six months ago, he had gotten a good script and invited Song Yushi to make a cameo as the female lead in her youth. Song Yushi had agreed. The casting for this movie had just been completed last week, and the official announcement was made immediately after. Director Lin was a man who pursued efficiency; he had already arrived at the filming location in the past two days, preparing to hold a script meeting and start shooting.
“I have to attend the script meeting, and then join the production.” Song Yushi whispered as she unfastened the buttons on her formal dress, “And you have to come with me, otherwise it’s no fun for you to go on a honeymoon alone.”
“What are you mumbling about?” Qi Ke walked out of the bathroom barefoot.
Song Yushi was startled and was about to turn around when she was hugged from behind.
Qi Ke rested her chin on Song Yushi’s shoulder, turned her head, and nibbled on her ear. “Why are you so slow at taking off your clothes? Want me to help you? I’m very skilled.”
And with that, she was about to get hands-on.
She had expected Song Yushi to shy away, but unexpectedly, she just leaned into her embrace, obediently letting her help. The long zipper on her back extended down to her waist, her back curve faintly visible, fair and alluring.
Qi Ke smiled. “Getting married is great.”
Song Yushi tilted her head up. “Hmm?”
“I said, getting married is great.” Qi Ke went to kiss her lips, a light peck, like a dragonfly skimming the water, with a small hint of pride. “The whole world knows you’re mine.”
Song Yushi was silent for a moment, then suddenly straightened up and pushed Qi Ke to sit on the bed.
Qi Ke clutched her chest. “You haven’t showered yet, is this a good idea?”
“Qi Ke.”
“…Hmm?”
“I want to ask you something.”
“You’re not going to regret it on our wedding day, are you?”
“Huh?”
Song Yushi paused, realizing what Qi Ke was talking about, and couldn’t help but glare at her. “Do you think we’re filming 《The President’s Runaway Bride》?”
Qi Ke was very precise. “It’s the Singer Queen’s Runaway Bride.”
Song Yushi was speechless.
She forcibly brought the topic back. “I’m asking you, what’s the most important thing between partners?”
Qi Ke pondered. “Trust.” Her mom had taught her that.
“What else?”
“Love and care.” Her dad had taught her that.
“And?”
“A harmonious… life.” She had figured that out herself.
“…”
Song Yushi resisted the urge for domestic violence and chose to spell it out herself. “And understanding.”
Qi Ke nodded. “Right, I was just about to say that.”
…Just about to say that, my foot.
Song Yushi swallowed her retort and began reciting her prepared lines. “Do you know what’s most important in my life?”
Hearing this, Qi Ke broke into a wide smile. “Me.”
Song Yushi was speechless.
This sweet, naive girl was making it impossible to continue the script.
“Yes, it’s you. And acting.”
“Mhm, mhm.”
“You know, I’ve always really admired Director Lin.”
“Hmm? The one who directed 《The Human World》?”
“That’s him. He has a script recently…” Song Yushi finished what she wanted to say in one breath, then quickly added, “The role is very small, I’ll try my best to have fewer NGs, it’ll only take two days to film, plus the script meeting, that’s only three days. I…”
Her face was cupped by Qi Ke’s hands.
Qi Ke had just showered, and her body lotion had a rose fragrance, not overpowering, just a light, fresh scent. They were very close. Qi Ke looked into her eyes. “Wife.”
Song Yushi’s face flushed. “Don’t…”
“You’re afraid I’ll get angry, right?”
“Mmm…”
“Then you have to compensate me.”
“Huh?”
Before Song Yushi could react, she was pushed onto the bed by Qi Ke. A fierce, heavy kiss landed on her lips. Song Yushi struggled a bit. “I haven’t showered yet!”
Qi Ke paused, then readily agreed. “Then let’s do it while we shower.”
The wedding night.
Long and beautiful.
Fifteen hours later, Song Yushi and Qi Ke yawned simultaneously on the plane to Hong Kong. They looked at each other, a knowing glance passing between two people who were short on sleep.
Song Yushi chuckled, tilted her head to rest on Qi Ke’s shoulder, and closed her eyes. “I told you we should have gone to bed earlier.”
“You were the one clinging to me for the last round.” Qi Ke also tilted her head, pressing it against Song Yushi’s. Her lips gently landed on her hair as she whispered, “I remember everything.”
Song Yushi smiled.
The filming location was in Tibet. There were no direct flights to Lhasa, so they had to transfer in Hong Kong. The trip was decided at the last minute, and they unexpectedly ran into a group of paparazzi who had come to cover their wedding.
It was an international flight with unobstructed Wi-Fi.
The paparazzi quickly sent out press releases, the fans shrieked with excitement, and the newlyweds just closed their eyes to catch up on sleep.
The entire cabin was bustling with activity.
【The rumor online is true! Song Yushi really went back to China to join a film crew! Isn’t this a bit too professional! Director Lin, you truly have no heart, calling someone back to work when they’re newlyweds.】
【Good evening, fellow worker.】
【Holy cow, I’m just… holy cow. Song Yushi is so rich and still works so hard, I’m getting up to work right now.】
【Stop scolding, stop scolding, I’m going to sleep.】
【What are the newlyweds doing, rwkk rwkk!】
【But still, this is their private trip. It’s already not good to follow them, and it’s even worse to release the photos, right?】
【But still, the paparazzi are there to make a living. It’s basically impossible for them not to release the photos.】
【I saw a picture!】
【Wow! They’re sleeping with their heads touching! And their hands are held together! So sweet!】
【Even though my CP is already married, I still want to shove them into the bridal chamber.】
【Same here!】
At this moment, the members of Sweet Day, who were still lounging in the villa on the small island where the wedding was held, all posted on Weibo, praising Song Yushi’s professionalism and sharing their belated wedding reports.
@Meng Ying: Recording a fun wedding story. After exchanging vows and rings, the priest said, you may now kiss each other. Qi Ke said it was so embarrassing in front of so many people. The priest said, I saw you two kissing on the livestream, and there were tens of millions of people in the livestream room.
Hahahaha, the priest was a short foreigner, and he said it with such a straight face, as if he was saying: You dared to kiss in the livestream, what are you acting all shy for here?
@Zhong Yi: Meng Ying cried the hardest. Chengzhi took wedding notes, probably planning to get married next year. My favorite part was the vows. It felt so magical. I thought saying “I do” was the beginning of a lifetime, but actually, Yushi and Keke’s beginning was the “hello” when they first met in Sweet Day.
@Cheng Zhi: Love is the fire of desire, love is enduring affection, love is the courage to rush towards the future without reservation, love is you.
Qi Ke woke up first and replied to the Weibo posts one by one.
First, she replied to Meng Ying: Of all the romantic scenes, this is the one you remember!
Then she replied to Zhong Yi: I’ve said “hello” so many times in my life, but there’s always one that’s the most special.
Finally, she replied to Cheng Zhi: Chengzhi, that’s too poetic. Delete it and let me post it.
Cheng Zhi: ???
Netizens: ???
By now, Song Yushi and Qi Ke had already completed their transfer. The plane flew above the clouds in the clear sky. The seemingly heavy clouds floated lightly under the wings, brewing a spring rain.
Qi Ke had a bit of altitude sickness after getting off the plane and went to rest at the hotel first, while Song Yushi went directly to the script meeting.
Director Lin, in the end, showed some humanity. Considering that Song Yushi had just gotten married and he had dragged her over to rush the schedule, he wanted to make it quick. The script meeting went on until late at night. Only after reading through Song Yushi’s cameo part did he let her go rest.
“Get a good rest, build up your energy.” Director Lin handed the script to Song Yushi and also gave her the wedding gift he had prepared long ago. “I was too busy to attend your wedding. Happy wedding.”
Song Yushi smiled. “Thank you, Director.”
“Did Qi Ke come too?” Director Lin asked. “I thought she would throw a tantrum.”
Director Lin had directed one of Qi Ke’s MVs, so he was fairly familiar with her.
Song Yushi said seriously, “Partners must understand each other. I taught her that.”
Director Lin was taken aback. He imagined Song Yushi seriously teaching Qi Ke and couldn’t help but chuckle. He didn’t say more, afraid that if he kept Song Yushi any longer, her partner’s understanding might go awry, so he quickly let her go rest.
The production crew was wealthy, and the hotel was luxurious. They had originally booked a king-sized bed room for Song Yushi, but Qi Ke found it too crowded and paid to upgrade the room type.
When Song Yushi returned, she was still asleep.
The room was a bit stuffy and hot, and the blanket had been kicked to the foot of the bed. Song Yushi adjusted the temperature of the central air conditioning and covered Qi Ke properly. She had intended to take a shower, but after looking at Qi Ke, she couldn’t tear her eyes away.
She crouched by the head of the bed, looking up at Qi Ke’s sleeping face.
Qi Ke was very well-behaved when she slept. Her flamboyant beauty became silent, and the tranquility in her features made her look like a child. Song Yushi raised her hand to touch her long eyelashes. Qi Ke stirred and slowly opened her eyes.
Her gaze went from hazy to clear.
Qi Ke smiled, turned on her side, and said in a low voice, “You’re back?”
Song Yushi lowered her head and kissed her.
Her kissing skills had been honed through thousands of kisses and were already quite adept, not rushed. Song Yushi kissed her leisurely, bit by bit kissing her out of her just-awakened dream.
The tips of their tongues were scalding, intertwining and separating.
In the dim room, the ambiguous sound of moisture was especially clear.
Outside the curtains, the distant snow-capped mountains shimmered in the sunset. An eagle soared past, rushing from daylight to sunset, into the dark night. The night deepened, allowing all desires to become bold and brazen.
Song Yushi gasped and fell back onto the pillow, her clothes in disarray. She stared at the ceiling and suddenly smiled.
Qi Ke touched her lips and asked, “What are you smiling about?”
Song Yushi turned her face and smiled at her. “Just before I came back, Director Lin told me to get a good rest.”
Qi Ke’s face turned red. She hugged her, nuzzling her neck, her ever-successful coquettishness practiced and smooth. “You were the one who seduced me first.” She then said, “By the way, when you were watching me sleep just now, what were you thinking?”
“…You guess.”
“I guess—” Qi Ke pondered, “you were definitely thinking, this woman is so damn beautiful, and thank goodness she’s mine.”
Song Yushi chuckled.
Qi Ke asked, “Was I right?”
Song Yushi shook her head. “I was thinking of a song.”
“What?”
“《I Truly Love You》.”
—Once, I was like a floating duckweed, with nothing to rely on.
—But heaven let me meet you.
—The very first time I saw you.
—I truly love you.
Home
Qi Ke recently took on a camper van travel variety show. The show had four fixed female guests, with one flying guest per episode. Sweet Day members had been flying in since the first episode. By the fourth episode, Zhong Yi brought Qi Ke some devastating news: Song Yushi’s schedule couldn’t be adjusted, so she had to pull out of the show.
Qi Ke was drinking a Coke at the time. Upon hearing the news, she spilled her Coke, her heart broken.
This travel variety show required the guests to truly enjoy the journey, so their phones were confiscated as soon as they joined the crew. For as many days as Qi Ke was on the road, she had no contact with Song Yushi.
Once, she borrowed a staff member’s phone to call Song Yushi, but then thought better of it since it was the middle of the night in China. She just watched some behind-the-scenes clips of Song Yushi on set for a while before reluctantly returning the phone to the staff member.
The staff member couldn’t bear it. “Teacher Song mentioned you in an interview two days ago.”
Qi Ke’s eyes immediately lit up. “Let me see!”
The staff member searched online. After their marriage, Song Yushi and Qi Ke kept a low profile, and in the interest of saving the company money, they rarely made it to the hot search list. But they couldn’t withstand their large number of CP fans; whenever there was a sweet moment, there was definitely a topic.
Passersby before opening: Showing off their love again, will it ever end?
Passersby after opening: This is killing me with sweetness!
It was an interview with a Weibo media account, entertainment-focused, that occasionally asked some more daring questions. This time, for instance, the reporter asked some questions about Qi Ke.
Q: Is there any difference between before and after marriage?
A: Of course there’s a difference, why else get married?
Qi Ke: Not bad, her interview style after marriage is very much like mine. We’re truly two of a kind.
Q: What are the specific differences?
A: There’s another person in the bed.
Qi Ke: Hahahahahaha!
Q: Anything else? Be more specific.
A: More specific… Actually, because of our work, we are often apart. But it’s a wonderful feeling. No matter where you are, you know you have a home waiting for you, with the person you love, a lively dog, and a cute little cat. It’s very blissful.
Qi Ke: Aww, wife, wife!
Q: So, you got a little cat after getting married? What’s it like?
A: A Golden Chinchilla, very cute. Especially clingy with me.
Qi Ke: You damn cat, get off my wife!
Q: Describe your married life in three words.
A: Blissful, happy, forever.
Qi Ke: Forever blissful and happy!
The interview ended there. The staff member took the phone back. Qi Ke stared blankly at the sky, feeling that she missed Song Yushi even more. So she began to look forward day and night to Song Yushi coming as a flying guest. She waited through Chengzhi, waited through Zhou Er, and then came the bad news—Zhong Yi.
“Hey—” Zhong Yi dragged out her voice, “Do you have to be so blunt? I’m your good sister too, you know!”
Qi Ke was listless. “A good sister would bring your captain over.”
It was summer in North America, and the weather was scorching hot. Both of them were dressed lightly. The sea was just across the road, and the other guests had all gone for a swim. Only Qi Ke was pining for her wife, and Zhong Yi, having just arrived, was too lazy to move.
The two looked at each other for a long time, melancholic.
Zhong Yi said, “If you miss her so much, just call her! Video call!”
Qi Ke placed the basic phone issued by the show on the table. “It can only be used to call the police and an ambulance.”
Zhong Yi: “…”
This was too cruel! She wasn’t going to film anymore!
Zhong Yi fiddled with her own phone, sad. “Does this mean my phone will be confiscated soon too? Ah, my baby, how will I live without you? The long, long nights…”
Her hand suddenly felt empty.
Zhong Yi was furious. “Why did you snatch my phone?!”
Qi Ke made a shushing motion, glanced at the follow PD, and threatened, “Don’t tell the director yet.” She patted Zhong Yi’s shoulder. “Zhong Yi, thank you for traveling thousands of miles to bring me a phone.”
Zhong Yi: “?”
She traveled thousands of miles to earn money, okay!
Zhong Yi rolled her eyes, said, “Remember to pay my phone bill,” and went for a stroll by the sea, leaving space for the little couple. As soon as Zhong Yi left, Qi Ke made a video call to Song Yushi.
It rang for nearly forty seconds before the other side picked up.
Qi Ke was ready for a beauty-filter-enhanced assault, but on the screen, she only saw the ceiling—from the pattern, she recognized it as the ceiling of her and Song Yushi’s home.
Song Yushi was at home?
“Are you there? Have you seen Qi Ke?” Song Yushi’s voice came from a short distance away. She seemed to be packing things, bustling about. “Why aren’t you talking?”
In the background, a dog could be heard barking occasionally.
It was clearly their little smarty-pants, Candy.
A small golden cat leaped past the phone, leaving a mysterious silhouette and a disheveled Qi Ke on the screen.
Finally, seeing that Zhong Yi wasn’t saying anything, Song Yushi sensed something was wrong. She picked up the phone and saw Qi Ke at a glance. She was so startled she almost dropped the phone.
Fortunately, her composure was good. She cleared her throat. “Qi Ke?”
Qi Ke was full of questions. “You’re at home?”
Song Yushi was calm. “Yes.”
Qi Ke’s brow furrowed a little. “Zhong Yi just told me that you couldn’t come on the show because of a scheduling conflict.”
Song Yushi remained calm. “Yes.”
Qi Ke’s brow furrowed even deeper. “Then why are you at home now?”
Song Yushi was as calm as ever. “The weather is nice today, and I live nearby, so I came back to sun the blankets.”
Qi Ke said, “Turn the camera to the window.”
Song Yushi said, “If you keep this up, our marital relationship is going to break down.”
Qi Ke: “…”
You know perfectly well it’s the middle of the night over there, so what kind of nice weather is that! Sunning the blankets? Are you sunning the moon?
“Alright.” Song Yushi sat down on the sofa. The clingy little cat immediately jumped onto her, purring on her chest. Song Yushi said, “I’m packing my luggage.”
“To where?”
“To see you.”
“Really?”
“…”
Song Yushi stroked the Golden Chinchilla’s fluffy head and said, “Do you even know what variety show effect is? I could have appeared in front of you all of a sudden and given you a surprise!”
Qi Ke couldn’t care less about that. “Really? Are you really coming to see me?”
Song Yushi paused, then smiled, her voice doting and gentle. “Yes, I heard you miss me a lot, so I have to go see you. When I go to see you, just running isn’t enough, I have to fly.”
Qi Ke was delighted, happily blowing Song Yushi a kiss. “Then you have to come quickly.”
Song Yushi raised an eyebrow.
Qi Ke reported in a low voice, “You have no idea how many romantic encounters I’ve had on this trip, but I rejected them all.” She wiggled the ring on her ring finger. “I told them I’m married.”
“And then?”
“And then they were like, ‘Sigh, what a pity. Such a beautiful girl, I wonder who got so lucky.’ See? What a great deal you got.”
Song Yushi went along with her. “Mhm, I got a great deal.”
Qi Ke was smug. “Then you have to hurry over.”
Song Yushi said, “Okay.”
“And—” Qi Ke said.
Song Yushi looked up. “Hmm?”
Qi Ke was fierce. “Little fatty! Get off my wife!”
Song Yushi: “…”
The Golden Chinchilla lying on her, already used to Qi Ke calling her that, glanced lazily at Qi Ke and meowed, arrogantly informing Qi Ke: Impossible.
“The first floor is the living room and a small garden, as well as Candy and—” Song Yushi pointed to the Golden Chinchilla perched on the bookshelf, looking down at the production crew, “and it.”
“The second floor is the study and gym, Qi Ke’s recording studio, and instrument room.”
“The third floor is the living quarters and walk-in closet.”
The director’s team asked, “This must have taken a lot of time and effort to renovate, right? Was this the house you mentioned on the show, where you knocked down the walls of your previous homes to combine them?”
Song Yushi smiled. “No.”
That would have been even more troublesome. They were both busy, so they simply looked for a new three-story villa. From design to renovation, they supervised whatever they could themselves. It felt like that way, the home would truly belong to them completely.
Song Yushi gave the production crew a brief tour of her and Qi Ke’s home, picked up her suitcase, and said to the camera, “Let’s go, see you in a bit.”
With that, she covered the camera lens.
In the next shot, a plane streaked across the azure sky, flying towards her beloved.
That episode became the highest-rated episode of the variety show. It generated five or six hot search topics, its broadcast popularity broke a new record in variety show history, and the bullet comments had to be cleared wave after wave, with the discussion volume reaching two hundred million.

【Anyone want to form a group to steal the master tapes from the production team?】
As if genuinely afraid that the netizens would impulsively send them razor blades, the camera cut to a small bonus clip—
Inside the two-person tent, a single lamp glowed faintly. Song Yushi and Qi Ke lay side by side on a blanket, the dim yellow light reflected in their pupils.
After a moment of silence, Song Yushi said, “When are you coming home?”
Qi Ke said, “Hmm?”
Song Yushi turned her head to look at her. “The cat and dog miss you.”
Qi Ke looked at her and smiled.
Song Yushi paused, then said softly, “I miss you too.”
-The cat and dog miss you very much, and so do I.
-And so does our home.
