Chapter 029: “Do you want to have a love affair that will last forever?” (01/10)
Xie Chenyang was really pissed off.
After being pushed down by the man, Xie Chenyang opened his mouth as if to bite him and raised his foot to kick. The man quickly backed away out of biting range, then pounced forward and fought with him.
You Huang: “……” Had a bad feeling.
They both fought very fiercely, as if there was a deep-seated hatred between them.
You Huang reminded Xie Chenyang, “Take it easy. This body is a teacher; do not be so fierce.”
The original body was promised to be compatible with him though?
When a stick appeared in the assailant’s hands, You Huang immediately contacted the team leader.
You Huang: [We seem to have encountered another system and host.]
Xie Chenyang tilted his head to dodge the blow. His torso was trapped and he couldn’t break free, so he could only try to avoid his head being injured. The stick struck him hard on the shoulder and his whole body staggered.
The man pressed him back against the wall again, leveraging the stick across his neck. Xie Chenyang’s eyes flashed with hostility.
Again, the assailant shoved him against the wall and tried to touch his face.
[This rotten punk!]
You Huang: “Ahem, host, you won’t have to fight with him much longer. Endure it. I’ll be ready in a minute.”
Xie Chenyang’s shoulder ached, and after hearing You Huang’s statement, he suddenly laughed. “No need, eh? Isn’t the intention to steal a feel[mfn]FN: ‘Steal a color/feel’ slang for innapropriatly touching others in a negative view. Unlike stealing tofu, which is seen as more innocent and usually done between partners.[/mfn]? Hitting so hard–I’m in pain because of you.”
The other man froze, releasing him, and threw the stick on the ground.
Surrendering?
Heh.
Xie Chenyang took advantage of his daze to kick him over. “You fucking grab someone for their beauty, but also dare to beat me? You ……”.
See if he did not kill this garbage!
“Name.” The man slowly stood up, eyes insistent. “What is your name?”
Meeting his gaze, Xie Chenyang’s originally irritable mood suddenly dissolved for some reason and he casually quipped, “What? Are you in love with me? Fell in love at first sight?”
There was something that flashed through his mind. Its speed was too fast to catch.
The man flicked at the footprint on his chest, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it. “Your name.”
Very obsessed with his name.
Xie Chenyang thought back to the plot that he had just barely received, then went over to him and took a cigarette from his pocket. “Lin Chenyang.”
He paused after taking the cigarette. What was he doing? Didn’t he have a pack of cigarettes in his own pocket? Why use the other man’s?
The action was so natural that …… it was as if the things he had were something he inherently could use.
“Not right.” Xie Chenyang frowned.
The man closed his eyes. “No, not Lin. It’s Xie–Xie Chenyang ……”
[Crap, the vest is gone!]
You Huang: “……” Troubling. Not only did they encounter another system, but they also encountered someone from its host’s own world! How in the world did this person recognize his host? And what was going on with the other system?
Xie Chenyang was a little flustered. [No way, no way, no way! How did he know? Wait, I’m not using my original face, ah, just my eyes ……]
He knew that for the past three worlds, his eyes were always the same.
Because he didn’t like to pretend. Whether it was his eyes or his temperament, he was always himself.
As he recalled his memories, he had no recollection of this man.
Shit.
This person couldn’t be secretly in love with him! He recognized him by his strikingly beautiful eyes!
The man stretched out his hand again.
Xie Chenyang didn’t evade.
[If he confesses, how should I reject him?]
You Huang was quite speechless and continued to poke the team leader.
That person’s hand tapped below his left eye. “There …… should be a red mole here.”
[Help! Ah-Huang, he even knows about my red mole, definitely knows me!]
It wasa pity. Even if the person in front of him loved him so much, Xie Chenyang couldn’t accept him.
The other man seemed to be in great pain and lost consciousness, slowly collapsing.
Xie Chenyang caught him and kept him upright. Hey, hey, there was no need to be so emotional.
He hadn’t even rejected him yet, and he already couldn’t bear it?
Xie Chenyang glanced at the cigarette that fell on the ground. “What a waste……”
“So troublesome.” A feeling like love and all that.
“Who the hell is this? I have no impression, ah.” Could it have been a secret love for him quietly, never showing up in front of him?
Xie Chenyang carefully examined his face and thought about it for a long time before realizing something.
Right ah, what he was using definitely wasn’t his own face either.
Who would recognize it?
He was not his lover. Even if his lover changed his face, Xie Chenyang could still recognize him.
As for this person …… Well, who was he?
“Hey, shitty system, how can there be someone who knows me? Speak up, is there some kind of bug?”
You Huang: “……” Not even calling it by name? He seems to be angry.
Just in time, the team leader replied back.
[Team leader: The identity of the other team has been found. Immediately take your host and leave the current world. This time will not count as a task world.]
You Huang: “Host, we have to leave this world.”
Xie Chenyang was shocked. “What? Based on what!”
How could he leave? His lover might have already followed him to this world! Xie Chenyang looked at the man again, his brows furrowed, until he saw the boot prints on his chest that hadn’t been cleaned.
He didn’t consider himself to be a violent person. Other than for task objectives, he had never hit strangers indiscriminately.
Or beat them up that badly.
It wasn’t like he had never met anyone who tried molesting him ……
But only this person in front of him, before he had even tried to assault him, actually punched first.
“Wait, you’re scared? Are you afraid of me …… or him?”
You Huang: “Host, we really have to go. Sorry.”
Awareness and soul were being pulled.
The man was unaware of when he opened his eyes, and in that instant of eye-contact, something flashed in Xie Chenyang’s mind, and he was struck by an idea: “Ji ……”
—- —- —-
The next instant, he appeared on the beach.
It was You Huang’s space.
You Huang also returned to his space when he finished Xie Chenyang’s recovery.
Xie Chenyang jumped up and grabbed You Huang. He threw him into the ground. “Speak, what the hell is going on here? His name is Ji Xiao, right? How did I recognize him? There’s no such person as him in my memory!”
The images that had flashed through his mind earlier were all forgotten when his soul was ripped out of his body.
Only the name Ji Xiao was remembered.
You Huang: “Does the host think I would harm you?”
Xie Chenyang paused, pulling You Huang out of the sand, and squatted in the sea to wash. “Sorry ah, I don’t know why my emotions are a bit out of control.”
After the fight with Ji Xiao, There was not much control over emotions.
“I know you are good to me.” Xie Chenyang washed away the sand on You Huang’s body and used his clothes to try drying him off.
You Huang scurried up into the sky in a flash and hovered in the air, his voice a little unsteady. “You know I won’t harm you, alright? Let’s go to the next world!”
“Then my lover ……”
“He will follow you!”
Xie Chenyang wiped his hands on his clothes. “Who is Ji Xiao?”
“I’m not sure of his identity.” You Huang sighed softly. ”Host, don’t go probing. You won’t meet him again until the mission is completed and you return. When it’s all over, you’ll know.”
Xie Chenyang: “I have no memories of him.”
It was the first time You Huang had encountered a host with memory loss, and he thought that the person and him shared a deep bond.
He deliberated. “Host, don’t think too much. You’ll know after everything is over.”
“You don’t understand,” Xie Chenyang said in annoyance. ”Ji Xiao can recognize me based on my eyes alone–what does that mean?”
You Huang: “It means that he has a deep bond with you.”
“Right!” Xie Chenyang sighed. “He must love me deeply, so he can’t forget about me, while I have lost my memory …… That said, why did I lose my memory again? There seems to be no gaps in the memory, ah.”
You Huang: “It’s not important.”
“Right, it’s not important. What’s important is that if I lost my memory before and Ji Xiao was something like, a lover.” Xie Chenyang was tangled up in his thoughts. “Then wouldn’t I be cheating on my wife now?”
“Wouldn’t I be a scumbag?”
You Huang expressionlessly said, “One thing I can be sure of is that you were single.”
Xie Chenyang: “Are you sure?”
You Huang: “Absolutely sure.” Although the identity of the host was not known when receiving the mission, the team leader had briefly discussed it with him.
Xie Chenyang let out a light laugh and tucked one hand in his pocket. “Ah-Huang, I’m sorry for mouthing off to you just now when I got emotional. I know there’s something wrong with my memories, but since you haven’t said anything about it, then you definitely can’t say anything about it.”
“I believe you.” Xie Chenyang looked up at him. ”Let’s go.”
—- —- —- —-
An ancient, huge tree filled with unknown flowers stretched out with its branches and leaves and fluttered in the sky.
He sat there on the branch, light dappling his face, his legs dangling in the air.
Looking into the distance, he saw many diverging streams of water extended outwards. The surrounding cliffs were submerged in the flowing water, accompanied by fluttering flower petals that converged into the surrounding ocean, and vibrancy wrapped the entire island in green, just like a sacred realm.
You Huang transmitted the plot to him.
The original body, Xie Yunyao, was originally an ordinary office worker, who, one day, became a boss in a game.
Before he became the boss of Thousand Streams Island, he distinctly remembered being in a car accident. As for this game called “I Want to Become a God”, he had played it before.
When there were no players that came to fight his copy, he was free to move around. As soon as a player entered his instance[mfn]Lengthy drop down — Instance in a game = a special event or storyline[/mfn], he would be forced to follow the programming to be pummeled by the players.[mfn]In this case think of it as a library having multiple copies of one book. Our MC is a single copy among multiple on a shelf, thus only sometimes does the reader/gamer grab HIS copy instead of any other.[/mfn]
Of course, he had a specific instance ID.
With so many players, there were teams that were entering the instances at the same time, and of course not, every team swipe[mfn]Swiping is an Online Chinese slang. If you are just doing anything online (eg: Shopping, Social media, gaming) and select something they call it swiping.[/mfn]d him.
In fact, he had many sub avatars; it was just that sometimes, by chance, a team would swipe his instance and enter the particular instance he’s in.
He couldn’t communicate with the players, and NPCs were programmed with set responses, and chatting would only get predetermined responses.
Xie Yunyao was lonely.
It wasn’t until one day when he went out that he met Ding He, the boss of the Mirror Flower Forest, and realized that he had experienced the same thing as him.
But Ding He fared much better than he did.
Ding He was originally a programmer. He had been investigating for a long time and had roughly researched the game’s program and found that there were loopholes that could be exploited in the program after various trial and errors.
However, his data traffic wasn’t enough to pass through the loopholes and return to reality, and it was impossible for the other set NPCs to actively fuse their data with him.
Xie Yunyao’s appearance gave him hope. He knew that no one would give everything for another person, and even if they slowly became friends, they would still be on guard against him unless …… It was for love.
So, with only able to communicate with each other, Ding He tricked Xie Yunyao into trusting him little by little and slowly captured Xie Yunyao’s heart through constant companionship and gentleness.
In the end, Ding He succeeded in cheating Xie Yunyao out of his data to successfully pass through the loophole back to reality, leaving Xie Yunyao with only remnants of his data.
Afterwards, Ding He played the game on a whim, and when he went to Thousand Streams Island to see Xie Yunyao, he unexpectedly found that there were fluctuations in his data. After much probing, he found that although he had dissolved Xie Yunyao’s data, his spirit hadn’t completely dissipated, and a little bit of residual data was still left behind.
He was still a bit interested in Xie Yunyao; after all, he had coaxed him for so long and had yet to eat.
So he told the Xie family about Xie Yunyao being trapped in the game, encouraging them to go to the game company to cause trouble. His skills weren’t enough to allow him to pass through the game company’s security in reality to get Xie Yunyao’s crippled data out safely, so he had to rely on the game company.
He was worried that the company would suppress the matter for the sake of their reputation, so he hinted to the Xie family that they should make a big deal out of it, or else it was possible that the game company would clear away Xie Yunyao’s data, and then he would be truly dead.
Xie’s parents had only one son and were not deeply educated, so when they heard Ding He mention so many details about Xie Yunyao, they believed him and panicked. They decided to fake their own deaths to force the game company to solve the issue.
Who knew, but they accidentally made it real.
In fact, the game company hadn’t wanted to suppress it in the first place, but had already instructed the technical department to verify it. Now that the tragedy had occurred, the company was greatly affected, but they still shouldered the pressure, compensated for the loss, and did the best they could with what they had.
Xie Yunyao was rescued.
He didn’t know that his parents had gone to the game company to cause trouble because of Ding He’s words.
As soon as he came out, he was devastated by the news that his parents had passed away.
Ding He accompanied and supported him, saying fondly that he came out and contacted the company at the first opportunity to try to rescue him, not realizing that Xie’s parents were too anxious …… to have such an accident.
Xie Yunyao remained with Ding He.
Xie Chenyang broke the branch beneath him with one hand and grumpily said, “This trash!”
He was only a crippled piece of data right now and still in the game, so he couldn’t punch anyone at all.
The broken branch was refreshed a minute later.
Xie Chenyang suppressed the annoyance in his heart and surveyed the empty surroundings. [My beloved couldn’t be an NPC as well, right?]
Barring any incidents, he would soon be rescued.
Could it be that he was going to have a tumultuous love affair with Data?

Author’s Note: Without the relevant knowledge, making things up is just making things up.
Don’t care about the details ah.

Shio: New Arc! Let me know if any of the gaming terms need a footnote. As the author note says they are mostly making things up but I am trying to put it into terms I believe readers should understand… but as they are just using terms with little understanding and I am trying to translate them into some thing understandable please let me know if something is described with the wrong terminology! I am just a cozy-gamer now, not really a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play Game) for quite a few years now.
Krone: WHO is Ji Xiao?? Even i’m curious xD at first i thought it was his lover from the wuxia world xD but then realized that doesn’t sound right xD
[dropdown title=”What is an ‘Instance’?”]
In video games, particularly in massively multiplayer online games (MMOs) and similar genres, the term “instance” refers to a separate, isolated version of a game environment. This allows multiple players to experience the same content without interfering with each other. Here’s a breakdown of why they are called instances:
Isolation: Each instance is a distinct copy of a game area (like a dungeon or quest zone) that can be accessed by players. This means that actions taken by one group of players in an instance do not affect another group in a different instance of the same area.
Dynamic Content: Instances allow for dynamic gameplay experiences. Players can complete quests, defeat bosses, or explore without waiting for others to finish or deal with the same enemies in the same space.
Scalability: Developers can create instances to accommodate varying numbers of players. For example, a dungeon might have different instances for small groups or larger raids, tailoring the experience to the number of participants.
Performance Optimization: By creating instances, game servers can manage resources more effectively. Instead of having one large, crowded area, the game can distribute players across multiple instances, reducing lag and improving performance.
Narrative Control: Instances can be used to deliver specific story experiences. Players can engage with narrative content in a controlled environment, enhancing immersion and allowing for unique events that are separate from the main game world.
The term “instance” derives from its meaning in computer science, where it refers to a specific realization of an object or class. In gaming, it highlights the concept of creating multiple, discrete occurrences of a game environment that players can interact with independently. — Google
