TSINW3 Chapter 38

“This miserable online game boss” -- Death cannot separate us -- 10/10

Chapter 038: “Death cannot separate us” (10/10)

After dinner, they went back to the office.

— Technology Department. —

Xiang Qu: “Mr. Wei, this data ……”

Wei Xiu: “How do you usually deal with unnecessary data in a game?”

Xiang Qu: “Expunge ……”

Wei Xiu’s face was indifferent. “Then dispose of it per the standard procedure.”

Xiang Qu was puzzled. “But what if it’s the same type of situation with Xie Yunyao’s and there’s a chance it could be a person?”

Wei Xiu: “Are you certain that additional data is a human being?”

Xiang Qu: “…… not exactly sure.”

Wei Xiu: “If you want to pull that data out, that’s fine. Deal with it as you deem fit. In any case, don’t let there be any problems in the game; public opinion has only just cooled off.”

Xiang Qu hesitated. “Well, we’ve already tried that. For some reason, this one is as stubborn as a rock, and we can’t pull it away from the Boss.”

Wei Xiu glanced over. “Consider amongst yourselves, but don’t delay next month’s update.”

Xiang Qu: “President Wei ……”

“I don’t judge the process, I only measure the results. The NPC Intelligence update next month is a major project.” Wei Xiu left with this sentence and took Xie Chenyang to his office.

A technician whispered, “Brother Xiang, what should we do?”

Xiang Qu had a bit of a headache. “What do you guys propose we do?”

The others looked at each other in silence.

Xiang Qu sighed. “Let’s all have a look around in the game today. In any case, maybe it’s just a virus, or maybe some hackers have tampered with our data. In short, if we don’t find any tangible evidence, we’ll continue to work on the NPC Intelligence from tomorrow.”

— President’s office. —

Xie Chenyang leaned on the desk and looked at Wei Xiu. “You know, right? About that data ……”

Wei Xiu raised his hand. “That is an issue for them to deal with at work; leave it to them to handle.”

Xie Chenyang: “…… Oh.”

[I originally thought about how to lock up Ding He, and my lover helps solve the problem. What lock up? Directly click to death!]

You Huang: “He is a ruthless person.”

[You do not understand–this is called ‘chopping grass does not get rid of the roots’, and ‘spring breeze blowing again’. What if one day Ding He found a way to come out and continue to plague people? It’s better to directly click to death.]

Xie Chenyang remained with Wei Xiu at the company for a day, and they didn’t return home until six in the afternoon.

Auntie Xu had already made dinner and waited for them to come back before leaving.

After eating, Xie Chenyang grabbed the dishes.

Wei Xiu looked at his back and said in amusement, “What are you playing at?”

Xie Chenyang exclaimed, “I want to wash the dishes!”

Wei Xiu: “……” He believes, his ass.

Sure enough, after Xie Chenyang washed the dishes, he came up to Wei Xu and kissed him, looking at him with affection.

Wei Xiu’s throat moved, his eyes slightly drooping. “Say it, what do you want?”

Xie Chenyang cupped his face and whispered, “You have gaming equipment at home, right? I want to play for a while.”

Wei Xiu took hold of his arm. “Going to the Mirror Flower Forest?”

“He’s the one who instigated my parents and caused the tragedy. I want to go and taunt him a bit.”

Xie Chenyang hugged Wei Xu’s neck and straddled him. “Actually, I was going to just leave him out to dry; it’s just boring to look at, but I think that he’ll be even angrier and more upset if he sees me.”

“Fine,” Wei Xiu said. ”I’ll join you.”

It was a good thing Wei Xiu had more than one set of equipment at home. They both logged into the game. Wei Xiu was still in the same purple outfit with a fan while Xie Chenyang logged into Xie Yunyao’s account as an archer in dark blue.

They met at the entrance of the Mirror Flower Forest replica.

You Huang: “Enter.”

The two of them entered the copy, bypassing the small monsters and heading directly to the area of the first boss.

Xie Chenyang looked around for a moment. “This Mirror Flower Forest is quite pretty, haha.”

Wei Xiu’s eyes danced. “Want to take a screenshot?”

Xie Chenyang was surprised. “Why take a screenshot? It’s a waste of time, you can just look at it.”

They didn’t activate the mobs, and Ding He also stood motionless as the battle was set up.

He only felt that the two players looked a bit familiar, and it took a while before he recognized them as Xie Yunyao and Wei Xiu.

The game’s various sects came with their own makeup effects, and there was an immense gap between the clothing and hairstyles and reality, so he didn’t recognize them at first.

“Xie Yunyao! Wei Xiu! You guys release me quickly! You guys are breaking the law!”

Wei Xiu couldn’t hear him. Xie Chenyang could hear him, but he treated it as if he didn’t and reached out to hug Wei Xiu into his arms. “This place is pretty good for a date. Do you happen to remember that dumbass in the hospital who claimed to be my boyfriend but was beaten?

Wei Xiu hugged him back. “What about him?”

“He suddenly lost his head! He somehow passed out, and then woke up with not a single thought. He couldn’t speak, he needs help to eat and drink.” Xie Chenyang hooked his lips. “His father was sentenced for intentional injury, and his mother wanted to get a divorce, and she only sent him a caretaker. ”

Wei Xiu glanced at the boss who was programmed to stand there and said with a sneer, “That’s pretty miserable.”

Persisting in evil brings about self-destruction[mfn]The idiom “If one does too much evil, he will eventually perish” was first mentioned in the Zuo Zhuan, the first year of Duke Yin. This idiom means that if you do too much unjust things, you will inevitably destroy yourself. In a sentence, it usually serves as an object or a clause. —- Baidu[/mfn]… By the way, the game is going to update the intelligence of the NPCs next month… So will the current scenarios, as well as the NPCs, change?”

“The settings will remain the same; it’s only that the NPCs will have a certain degree of autonomy unlike the previous fixed model, so the data will be changed.”

Xie Chenyang laughed evilly. “Oh? So the original data?”

Wei Xiu cooperated. “It will be overwritten.”

Ding He was a programmer, so of course he understood what they meant and instantly panicked.

“You guys can’t do this! I’m still here! Xie Yunyao! You’re committing murder!”

Xie Chenyang smiled as he approached Wei Xiu. “In that case, can I kiss you?”

Wei Xiu glanced toward Ding He again and nodded.

The two of them kissed as if no one else was around.

Ding He’s eyes reddened with anger. “Xie Yunyao! You’re wicked and sinister! Sooner or later, you’ll get your comeuppance! Don’t let me have a chance to get out, you #@$……&! @”

Xie Chenyang and Wei Xiu didn’t share a deep kiss and simply exchanged one before they started the battle (Ding He).

Wei Xiu changed into a godly armor while Xie Chenyang paddled the entire time, cursorily killing the boss, before they went offline.

Ding He’s angry shouting and cursing during the process was ignored.

——– ——–

A month later, the game became truly holographic.

Not only can you see it for yourself, but you can also interact with the NPCs in a real way. No longer were there fixed dialogue, the NPCs also possessed different personalities and minds, and the quests became more diverse.

Wei Xiu’s game instantly became the most popular, with the technology outpacing other companies.

By this point, the effects of the previous public opinion on the company had completely disappeared.

Xie Chenyang didn’t pay attention to Ding He and his family anymore, but instead entered Wei Xiu’s company to help out. Every day, he was lovingly spreading dog food to the employees,  occasionally going online to play the game, and living a colorful life.

One day, Wei Xiu answered a phone call.

“Ah-Yao.”

Wei Xiu put down his cell phone. “It’s my brother and my parents; they want me to bring  you over for a meal.”

Xie Chenyang was stumped. Oh yeah, they’d been together for so long, and he hadn’t met Wei Xiu’s family yet.

“If you don’t want to go ……”

“Go, ah, why not?”

Wei Xiu saw that he agreed without the slightest reluctance; his eyebrows lifted as he gave  a faint smile. “Because of my personality issues, mom and dad prefer my brother. I’ve been living on my own since I graduated from college, and I only go back to see them during the New Year’s festivals.”

Xie Chenyang nodded. “I understand.”

Wei Xiu asked, “Understood what?”

“You’re not close to them, so I don’t have to show too much enthusiasm.” Xie Chenyang held his hand and hooked his lips. “It’s better if the politeness remains intact, I understand this.”

“Well, I guess they heard about my relationship with you and they want to see you.”

“They only found out after we’ve been together for so long?”

“Eh, I didn’t take the initiative to tell them, and they paid little attention to me, so they probably only just found out.”

“They don’t care about you at all! When we go over in a while, we’ll just buy cheaper gifts.”

Wei Xiu, of course, didn’t listen to Xie Chenyang and called Secretary Lin to go purchase gifts.

Usually, the gifts for his family were Secretary Lin’s responsibility, who knew more about his family’s preferences than he did.

In the evening, Xie Chenyang drove Wei Xiu to his brother Wei Qi’s house.

It was a garden villa, a bit larger than Wei Xiu’s villa.

Father Wei and Mother Wei had indeed heard that Wei Xiu had a lover and were thinking of asking him to bring the person back to take a look.

Although Mother Wei was old, she didn’t look elderly at all, and the noble aura around her made it clear at a glance that she was a rich and dignified person.

”The name is Xie Yunyao, isn’t it? Wei Xiu, this child, he doesn’t tell us when he has a partner; if it wasn’t for his sister-in-law seeing the news earlier, even she wouldn’t have known that he had a partner.”

Xie Chenyang grinned. “Which one?”

Mother Wei was bewildered and looked at Sister-in-law Wei, who was at her side with her child.

Sister-in-law Wei removed the child’s hand from her mouth and said softly, “The one where they were showing off their love in the company, and it was quietly sent to Weibo by an employee, and it suddenly got hot.”

Xie Chenyang: “I thought it was when we were embroiled in controversy before and I went public live.”

Mother Wei: “A controversy? Wei Xiu didn’t tell us about that either.”

Father Wei and Mother Wei usually don’t go online much; when they have nothing to do, they just go out and chat with their friends or tease their grandchildren at home, so they really didn’t know about this.

And Brother Wei and Sister Wei didn’t follow the gaming industry or see the public opinion about them.

The scene became suddenly awkward.

Wei Xiu faintly said, “Ah-Yao, Mom and Dad don’t pay attention to the gaming industry, and we had PR delivered in a timely manner, so they shouldn’t have seen it.”

Mother Wei laughed. “Wei Xiu is right. We’re old and don’t know much about games, ah, and all that.”

Xie Chenyang was puzzled. “Auntie calls Wei Xiu by his full name. Does she call his brother by his full name as well?”

Mother Wei: “……” What’s wrong with this person?

Wei Xiu didn’t react other than to kick Xie Chenyang’s foot.

Xie Chenyang inclined his head. “What are you kicking me for?”

Wei Xiu indifferently said, “Itchy feet.”

Xie Chenyang hurriedly lowered his head to grab his feet. “Let me see.”

Wei Xiu pressed his hand and said with a headache, “Don’t move, it’s fine now.”

Mother Wei looked at them and suddenly hid her lips, letting out a light laugh. “Seeing that you guys are so close, we are relieved.”

She sighed. “With Wei Xiu’s nature, we never knew how to get along with him. We’ve also tried treating him the way we treat Wei Qi, but he’s always been so quiet and awkward.”

Wei Xiu responded, “Well, I’m not used to getting too close to people.”

Xie Chenyang let out a “Huh.”

[Is it the original Wei Xiu’s persona?]

You Huang: “Well, the original Wei Xiu didn’t like to be overly close to people, including his family, so he hasn’t had a relationship so far, but after your lover came, the persona has long since ceased to exist.”

Although there was an influence, it was only made closer to his own appearance.

Wei Xiu inclined his head and said softly, “You are the exception.”

Mother Wei laughed. “We always thought that Wei Xiu would always live alone, and were wondering what to do to make it better. Now that there’s you, we’re really happy.”

Xie Chenyang laughed. “Uncle and Auntie, you can be rest assured to leave him to me–even death can’t separate us.”

Because death only meant a new beginning for them.

They didn’t stay long and went back after dinner.

Wei Xiu leaned back in his seat, slightly inclined his head, and glanced at Xie Chenyang, who gripped the steering wheel without looking at him. “Do you mean it? What you said earlier, that death can’t separate us either.”

“Yes.” Xie Chenyang’s tone was very serious. “You’ve been my lover in previous lives. I found you in this life, and I’ll find you in the next too, so not even death can separate us.”

The corner of Wei Xiu’s lips hooked up slightly. Unexpectedly, Xie Chenyang could say romantic nothings.

“Okay, I believe you.” Regardless of whether people had reincarnations or not, at least he would believe him.

Xie Chenyang didn’t look for another job and worked diligently as Wei Xiu’s assistant until Brother Wei’s children grew up and packed up the company to give it to one of them. After that, Xie Chenyang and Wei Xiu lived a home retirement life.

Dying on the same day.

T/N: Please bear with me and my team as we struggle for the first few chapters of the next Arc. I am not the best at determining the gender of a character based on their Chinese name alone. Adding to this the extra difficulty of a matriarchal world where females are ‘dominant’ most side characters should be ‘female'[mfn]adding quotations because even in Danmei worlds where females are supposed to be stronger and in charge are just males with the name of female but nothing much else is different[/mfn] but that seems not to be the case for every author.

That’s it for the Gaming Arc!
