WTDWPK Chapter 12

Sleep with me

Everything unfolded just as Yin Lang had predicted. After their joint battle, fans of both sides developed a shallow foundation of camaraderie. They discovered that, hey, the other side’s fans weren’t so bad. Empty Bottle’s posts were particularly eloquent, even their insults were sharp and well-articulated—worthy of learning from.

Among them, the Pisces Girls played a huge role.

When self-media platforms like Weibo first emerged, the Pisces Girls shed tears of excitement. They always believed that the sugar they were indulging in was real. Pisces was real. Why hadn’t Fu Yuqian and Song Yu ever denied this CP? If not love, what else could it be?

Under this trending topic, the Pisces Girls were as busy as bees, acting as the lubricant between the two fan bases, contributing significantly to the temporary peaceful coexistence.

Solo fans had always looked down on the Pisces Girls, thinking their obsession with shipping had scrambled their brains. But after this battle, their perception shifted slightly.

Of course, much of this success was also due to Yin Lang’s guidance. When he judged that the timing was right, Yin Lang appeared and claimed he had been abroad working, hadn’t seen the news in time, and immediately contacted the marketing accounts to delete the posts.

Soon, the posts were taken down, and the trending topic was removed. It was time for both fan bases to part ways.

Qianqian’s fans left heartfelt blessings, wishing for Song Yu to wake up soon, leaving the Pisces Girls moved to tears, exchanging gazes filled with emotion.

Thus, an event about Fu Yuqian’s romantic rumors came to an end, from its beginning to its development and resolution—all within Fu Yuqian’s calculations. Yin Lang couldn’t help but admire him for this. He suddenly recalled how this guy had once been offered places at several top universities abroad.

By now, nine days had passed since Song Yu’s car accident. There was just one day left before Fu Yuqian’s bet with Ying Qi. Ying Qi had already called to gloat, saying that if he didn’t show up tomorrow, he’d personally take the car away.

Fu Yuqian only smiled and said nothing.

But that night, yet another trending topic about Song Yu exploded online.

This one came completely out of the blue and with perfect timing—right as Song Yu’s previous trending topic was still fresh.

When people clicked on it, they were enraged. The entertainment reporter wrote that, nine days after Song Yu’s car accident, not a single person from his agency had visited him. Along with this, a recording of a call between the agency and Yin Lang was leaked. In it, the agency discussed keeping the trending topic alive for a few more days before taking it down.

The Pisces Girls couldn’t believe their ears. What kind of shameless, heartless company was this? Their lead artist was in a car accident, and instead of taking care of him, they were scheming to milk the trending topic!

This was practically feasting on blood-soaked buns!

The Pisces Girls were in tears, hearts shattered. If it weren’t for the fact that Song Yu had signed a ten-year contract with the company, and the termination fees were astronomical, the fans would have crowdfunded the money to get him out of this godforsaken company.

They had long been displeased with the agency. Not only did they deny him rest days, but the projects they secured for him were garbage.

The company’s Weibo and website had never seen such traffic. Their PR team panicked and pulled a clumsy move, disabling comments on their posts.

Fans were furious but helpless, crying their hearts out, only wishing for Song Yu to wake up soon.

There was no doubt about the authenticity of Yin Lang’s leaked recording. Shortly after, Yin Lang made a straightforward post on Weibo, saying he couldn’t stand such behavior. He added that Fu Yuqian privately admired Song Yu and would have visited him immediately if he weren’t afraid of backlash.

The agency was fuming, nearly exploding with rage. But the company owed its current scale entirely to Song Yu. Going up against the big, established entertainment firms was like smashing eggs against a rock. They did have dirt on Song Yu, but leaking it now would only be idiotic. Left with no choice, they swallowed their anger, enduring the fans’ scolding with gritted teeth.

The Pisces Girls were moved by Yin Lang’s boldness and, having previously collaborated with him, began softening their attitudes toward both him and Fu Yuqian.

Fu Yuqian, pretending to be oblivious, switched to a small account and kept monitoring the situation. Song Yu naturally followed along, his tail trembling with agitation. He had long lost all affection for the agency, so this incident didn’t dishearten him—it only made him ache for his fans. He hated to see them cry for him, but he couldn’t wake up no matter how much he wanted to.

Fu Yuqian gently ruffled Song Yu’s head, as if speaking to himself. “So Song Yu had it this rough all along. No wonder he always projects so much positivity to his fans.”

Song Yu looked up at him blankly.

“Yi Yi, do you think I should visit him again?”

“Meow meow meow!” Please do, and take me with you!

“Hm? What does Yi Yi mean?” Fu Yuqian pretended not to understand. “Do you want to see him too?”

“Meow!” You finally got it!

Excited, Song Yu nodded vigorously.

Fu Yuqian almost couldn’t hold back his laughter. This little cat had no idea how to hide his emotions. He continued, “I’ve had trouble sleeping lately. Yi Yi, would you keep me company tonight?”

□□? Song Yu hesitated for a moment but, in order to see his own body, he swallowed his pride and reluctantly agreed.

After Fu Yuxian took a shower, he cleaned Song Yu up as well. Song Yu had originally wanted to take a bath himself, even going so far as to stand under the showerhead and meow at Fu Yuxian. However, Fu Yuxian only washed his paws and his private area, explaining that cats shouldn’t bathe too often as it could lead to skin problems.

Song Yu had no choice but to endure it. Surprisingly, he had started to grow accustomed to being wiped down by Fu Yuxian.

When the main room lights were turned off, Fu Yuxian left only the bedside lamp on as he reviewed some scripts sent by Yin Lang. One of them caught his attention.

“Yiyi, when we took photos last time, I noticed you have a real talent for expression. How about we try acting this time?”

Song Yu, who was on the verge of falling asleep, opened his eyes at the mention and glanced at the title of the script in Fu Yuxian’s hand.

“I Woke Up and Became the Tyrant’s Beloved Pet”? What kind of third-rate story is this? Song Yu silently mocked it; even the title sounded unserious.

Fu Yuxian explained, “It’s a web novel adaptation for an online drama. It probably won’t be very long. The director liked your performance in the photos, so he sent over the script. The plot is about a tyrant who was raised by an orange tabby cat from a young age. After ascending to the throne, he becomes cruel and bloodthirsty. He even decrees that the most handsome man in the capital must marry him. Upon receiving the imperial edict, the man vomits blood and faints, only to wake up as a cat. From then on, the cat constantly beats up the tyrant, who ends up being shaped into a wise and benevolent ruler. This script is for you.”

The director was likely just testing the waters by sending the script. He only invited Fu Yuxian’s cat to star and didn’t dare invite Fu Yuxian himself, knowing full well that the production couldn’t afford someone of his caliber.

After hearing the plot, Song Yu found it rather intriguing.

“Meow… Meow…” Xiao Xianzi, let me think about it.

After spending so much time together, Fu Yuxian could now interpret most of Song Yu’s vocalizations. From the tone, he could tell that Song Yu wanted to act but hadn’t decided yet. Without pressing further, he patted Song Yu on the head, turned off the lamp, lay down, and pulled Song Yu into his arms. He bent his head to kiss Song Yu’s head and said softly, “Goodnight, Yiyi.”

Song Yu, used to this treatment, let out a perfunctory “meow.”

Fu Yuxian quickly fell into a steady rhythm of breathing, but Song Yu couldn’t sleep, feeling too excited.

In the darkness, his green cat eyes gleamed, wide awake. The thought of possibly seeing his human body the next morning had him jittery. He began imagining the moment—what if he suddenly chemically reacted, popping out of the cat body into his human one? Maybe he’d scare Fu Yuxian awake with a dramatic “resurrection.”

Hahaha, Song Yu chuckled at his own wild imagination.

Thanks to a cat’s excellent night vision, Song Yu could clearly see Fu Yuxian’s face. Even though they were old rivals, Song Yu had to admit that Fu Yuxian’s looks were a gift from heaven—just a notch below his own. Song Yu extended a paw, wanting to give Fu Yuxian a slap, but held back. After all, Fu Yuxian had been good to him these past days. As they got to know each other better, Song Yu discovered that Fu Yuxian was an incredibly dull person. Aside from work, he stayed home, had no social life, and spent all his time doting on the cat.

It infuriated Song Yu as a cat. What about his girlfriend? Did she even exist? Why didn’t he ever call or meet up with her? Were there still paparazzi tailing him? If they didn’t see each other, wouldn’t they break up eventually?

If Song Yu ever got a girlfriend, he’d make sure to cherish her and treat her like a queen.

These random musings lulled Song Yu into a sleepy haze, and eventually, he dozed off.

The next morning, he woke up in another awkward position. If he didn’t know he had restless sleeping habits, he’d suspect Fu Yuxian of deliberately tucking him into the bed.

Maybe it was a case of practice makes perfect? Song Yu nonchalantly climbed out of the bed, stretched luxuriously, and let out a long meow before pawing at Fu Yuxian. Servant, I’m hungry.

Fu Yuxian woke up and, as usual, his first move was to hug Song Yu for some “cat therapy.” Song Yu made a token effort to resist before giving up.

What was the point? He had come to understand that Fu Yuxian was an irredeemable cat slave.

Poor him—young as he was, he had to endure pressures he never should have.

After breakfast, Fu Yuxian even brushed Song Yu’s teeth. Song Yu obediently kept his mouth open the entire time, earning Fu Yuxian’s growing sense of shame. How could he be fantasizing about brushing Song Yu’s teeth in the future while doing… other things? Imagining Song Yu being docile in his arms was just too tempting.

Song Yu, enjoying the pampering with his eyes half-closed, suddenly felt a chill behind him. Oh, it was because he had slid onto the floor.

When Fu Yuxian went upstairs to change, Song Yu couldn’t help but feel like whistling. The outfit was perfect for him: a dark green cashmere coat with sleek tailoring that accentuated his build, paired with black trousers and a white sweater underneath. It was a wholesome and preppy look, complemented by his casually styled hair that gave off the vibe of a young university student.

It was exactly the style his mother would love.

Seeing Fu Yuxian about to leave, Song Yu immediately padded after him. “Meow~” Take me with you!

He sat upright, stretching out his front legs in a “pick me up” gesture that was impossibly cute.

Fu Yuxian couldn’t resist, crouched down, and scooped him up.

Sitting in the car, Song Yu felt like bursting into song. Life had been tough these past nine days. He’d been through so much that his heart felt world-weary. This moment deserved some Ivana Spagna music, a cigarette in hand, and a good old storytime.

When they arrived at Sheng’an Hospital, Fu Yuxian parked and placed Song Yu in a carrier. Carrying him to the special elevator, they headed to the floor where Song Yu’s body was.

Ying Qi was already waiting there, grinning. “Are you ready to be kicked out by Aunt Song?”

Fu Yuxian chuckled. “My big brother’s already standing by to collect footage of you.”

With that, he carried Song Yu to the hospital room door.

Ying Qi suddenly had a bad feeling.
