ALSACW – Chapter 19

Being stared at so directly by a man made Yun Chuji a little shy.

But when she saw that his waist was thinner than hers and his rear was shapelier, the shyness somehow dissipated.

“Young Master Tang, Miss Tang is your sister. How can you speak to her with such coldness?”

Tang Jianshen didn’t answer her immediately. Instead, he turned to Tang Jianxi and asked, “Is there something wrong with her?”

Rage flared in Tang Jianxi’s heart. Although she often felt there was something wrong with Yun Chuji, no one else was allowed to say so.

“There’s something wrong with you before there’s anything wrong with her!”

Yun Chuji could now sense that her words were perhaps a bit outdated.

Even a little embarrassing.

She lowered her head, slightly mortified. Seeing this only made Tang Jianxi angrier. She turned back to Tang Jianshen and snapped, “Was she wrong? I’m your sister, yet you talk to me like I’m your enemy.”

“Ha.” Tang Jianshen sneered and shut the door again. “Tang Jianxi, are you fighting with me for an outsider?”

“What are you unhappy about? You wanted to be the head of the R&D department, and I let you have it, didn’t I?”

“Even while you sit there day after day, dreaming your dream of liberating omegas, am I not the one covering for you?”

“All you know is how to argue with me. I’m your brother, but I don’t owe you anything.”

Tang Jianxi stood up, her eyes red with anger. “So in your eyes, I can’t accomplish anything, is that it?”

“What else? I told you before not to develop the Spring of Freedom and to focus on low-to-mid-range products instead. But you insisted on focusing on the Spring of Freedom, calling it a gospel for omegas. And what’s the result? It’s a failure on your hands, isn’t it?”

Yun Chuji sat to the side, listening to the siblings argue. At first, she felt guilty, but as she listened, her confusion grew. Seeing Tang Jianxi’s face flushed with anger, despite the previous lesson, she couldn’t help but speak up. “Young Master Tang, are you not an omega as well?”

“Liberating omegas means liberating yourself, does it not?”

Yun Chuji thought for a moment, combining her shallow observations to arrive at a not-incorrect conclusion. “So, it is because you yourself are not constrained that you can look upon the plight of your own kind with such indifference.”

At this point, even though the words felt rustic, Yun Chuji couldn’t stop herself from saying them. “Young Master Tang, a gentleman should strive to benefit the world, while a petty person schemes only for themselves.”

The atmosphere fell silent.

To be honest, Tang Jianshen had been perfectly composed from the start, not even flinching when Tang Jianxi was shouting at him. But Yun Chuji’s words had an immediate, decisive effect.

For no other reason than they were too direct.

These were things they all knew in their hearts but would never say out loud. People of this era were no longer accustomed to making such broad moral accusations against others. As a result, everyone defaulted to believing they were righteous. Even if they faintly knew they weren’t, they could always fall back on the idea that they hadn’t wronged anyone.

But this statement was ambiguous.

Yun Chuji had peeled back that ambiguous shell with the simplicity and recklessness of someone from two thousand years ago.

Tang Jianshen took a deep breath, a blush of pure anger rising on his fair face, making him look remarkably like his sister. He said, “What is your name?”

“Yun Chuji.”

“You are an alpha?”

“…Yes.”

Tang Jianshen nodded and moved a little farther away from her. He said to Tang Jianxi, “I never thought you’d need an alpha to come to your rescue.”

Yun Chuji’s brow furrowed. Before Tang Jianxi could reply, she spoke first. “What does this have to do with being rescued? If what I said was unreasonable, then I will naturally apologize for my offense. But if what I said was reasonable, then you should be the one to apologize for yours.”

Tang Jianshen turned, sat down, picked up an unused cup, and took a sip of tea. Then he said, “Fine. If you insist on having this discussion, then I will indulge you.”

“It’s true that I am an omega. But just because I was born an omega doesn’t mean I have to be responsible for the survival of all omegas. Besides being an omega, I am also the General Manager of Tang Group. I am also an heir to the Tang family—well, one of them. I have many responsibilities. And what you speak of, fighting for the freedom of omegas… I admit, it is indeed a noble cause.”

“But so what?”

“How am I supposed to fight? The position I hold does grant me a certain power to make some changes to the situation for omegas. But this power stems from my responsibility to the shareholders, investors, and employees of Tang Group. If I were to act like my dear sister, trading the trust of others to soothe my own conscience, I would consider that nothing more than a moral self-performance.”

Tang Jianshen took another sip of water, his face, as cold as ice and snow, returning to its frosty state.

Just then, Tang Jianxi pressed the button to open the door and spoke the last words before this unpleasant evening came to an end. “However, my dear brother, being unwilling to spare one star coin when you have a hundred is one thing. But being unwilling to spare a hundred star coins when you have a hundred million is another thing entirely, isn’t it?”

Tang Jianshen left.

The food arrived three minutes later.

The two of them finished the meal in mutual silence.

In the car, the silence continued.

Back at home, as they went up the stairs and were about to part ways to their respective rooms, Tang Jianxi called out to Yun Chuji. “Thank you.”

A gentle smile appeared on Yun Chuji’s face, the ancient quality about her always distinct. “There is no need to thank me. It was Miss Tang who was in the right.”

In the right?

Tang Jianxi also smiled, gave Yun Chuji a nod, and then turned and entered her room.

Sitting in her room, Tang Jianxi thought for a moment, then opened her optical computer and sent a message to her father.

“Do you have any books about a dynasty called the Great Liang?”

“I’ve suddenly become a little interested in it.”

The next day, just as he had said, Tang Jianshen approved the research project that had been stalled.

The two siblings sat on opposite sides of the large conference room. Everyone else had already left, many of them having fled after seeing the looks on their faces.

Tang Jianshen was the first to speak. “Are you satisfied now?”

“Not at all.” Tang Jianxi shook her head, her hands resting relaxedly on the conference table. “I think I should be able to ask for more.”

Tang Jianshen thought she was trying to raise the price again and curled his lip. “You probably need to rest for a while.”

Tang Jianxi continued to shake her head. Her features were quintessentially omega—soft, beautiful, and exquisite, as if every line and curve had been meticulously painted with the finest, most expensive brush. She was the kind of person one would want to place in a display case or a golden cage—in short, to be treasured. But her eyes, those slightly upturned fox-like eyes, held not coquettishness but fire. A restless, turbulent power that was neither omega nor alpha. If one had to define it, it was the flame of humanity.

Tang Jianshen had known since they were children that his sister was his opposite. Her empathy was too strong, her joys and sorrows too intense. That was why he had always known that in the competition to be the heir, she could never beat him.

But now, it seemed she was about to change tracks—

“I’ve suddenly realized that I shouldn’t be competing with you. I should be using you.”

Tang Jianshen raised an eyebrow at her words.

“I’ve always wanted to prove that I’m stronger than you, but in reality, that’s unnecessary. In fact, it gets in the way of what I truly want to do.”

“Yesterday, you said you were always covering for me. That reminded me. You’re such a capable person, so why don’t I just use you directly?”

“If you’re going to cover for me, what you’ve done in the past was nothing. This is just the beginning. Brother, you doubled the Tang Group’s business. From now on, I hope you can double my cause as well.”

Tang Jianshen understood her intention. She was planning to blatantly use the Tang Group’s resources to achieve her own dreams. In disbelief, he said, “And where does that leave the Tang Group?”

Tang Jianxi shrugged nonchalantly. “The Tang Group, naturally, is left with you.”

“You can’t do this.” Tang Jianshen was genuinely starting to panic now. “Anything that goes against market principles won’t last. Once the resources are cut off, everything will only be worse.”

Tang Jianxi found this somewhat amusing. She hadn’t expected her brother to be so naive.

“Brother, do you think the emergence of the three genders, ABO, was based on market principles? No, it wasn’t. On the contrary, it determines market principles. As a tech company, I think you of all people should have some awareness of that.”

“What are you planning to do?”

“Nothing much.” Tang Jianxi lowered her gaze, recalling the few times she had lost control in the chaos. “I just want to help everyone be a little more rational.”

Tang Jianshen closed his eyes, then opened them again, his voice cold. “You’re a madwoman!”

“And isn’t my brother mad? I always thought someone as cold and heartless as you must have some kind of psychological illness.”

With that, she stood up and left the conference room.

What to do next?

There was so much to do.

Before, when Tang Jianxi didn’t abuse her authority, there was very little she could accomplish.

But now, she could create some small things that weren’t very profitable but were very useful.

Things like a spray that could make an alpha instantly impotent, a potion that could help an omega regain composure during their heat, and some contraceptive pills.

In the past, these items had been temporarily shelved by Tang Jianxi due to their poor market prospects. She had been waiting for the day omegas awakened, when these things would finally have market value.

But why wait?

Tang Jianxi stretched in her office and then signed another document.

She could do a lot of things under the guise of trial research and development.

As long as she didn’t put them into production, Tang Jianshen couldn’t do anything about it.

How wonderful. She would get everything ready and just wait for that day.

Or perhaps she could make them appear sooner. She did have a few companies under her control, after all.

Tang Jianxi now felt a sense of complete clarity. It was all thanks to that ancient person. If she hadn’t so thoroughly ripped away Tang Jianshen’s pretense, Tang Jianxi would never have known that he was nothing special after all.

Just a very useful tool.

If others could use him, so could she, and with even more justification.

After all, wasn’t this man who constantly spoke of doing things for the Tang Group also secretly engaging in dangerous dealings with members of the royal family?

How wonderful, my dear brother. We truly are blood siblings.

Let’s hope the Tang Group can survive in your hands and mine.
