This is in fact Chapter 12 and Chapter 13 in one. I don’t know what happened, maybe Author-sama was not feeling well, but Chapter 12 is just 800 words, so yeah, I did not feel comfortable leaving it like that and calling it a release. Happy reading! ❤️
………………………..
As soon as the words left Lu Chi’s mouth, Liang Jiashu instinctively asked: “So, just being your pet is enough?”
Lu Chi: “?”
What else?!
What more did this weird Gong No.1 want?!
Liang Jiashu stared intently at Lu Chi’s beautifully shaped lips. After a pause, he suddenly lowered his head and said expressionlessly: “Just give me one minute.”
Lu Chi: “?”
He blinked.
Then watched as Liang Jiashu, while still maintaining a one-handed kabedon stance against the wall, pulled out his mobile phone and rapidly unlocked it. His long, calloused fingers started tapping away furiously on the screen, in a blur of movement.
Lu Chi couldn’t help asking, while his gorgeous eyes shimmered with genuine confusion: “What are you doing?”
But Liang Jiashu didn’t answer. Soon, he handed over his mobile phone and spoke quietly: “Sign this.”
Lu Chi looked down…
…And saw a freshly generated digital contract on the screen:
[Dog Training Agreement – Investment Outline]
Party A: Liang Jiashu
Party B: Lu Chi
Per mutual consent, during the term of the agreement, Party A shall invest no less than 10 million RMB per month in Party B and voluntarily cover all of Party B’s expenses, including but not limited to: stock funds, real estate purchases, vehicle purchases, and pet training supplies[mfn]LOL[/mfn]…
Lu Chi: “……”
He couldn’t help but ask for clarification: “When you say ‘pet training supplies’… Do you mean actual pet training stuff?! Like for dogs and such?!”
He wasn’t overthinking… It was just that the main character Gong was seriously not right in the head, ah!
Liang Jiashu only looked at him, saying flatly: “Depends on your mood.”
He was tall, kept in excellent shape, young, healthy, and well-built. No matter what kind of discipline or punishment, he’d recover fast.
Especially… If it came from Lu Chi.
In that case, he wouldn’t even feel pain.
Only excitement.
If those upturned, smiling eyes were to look at him… If those pale, soft fingertips were to touch his skin… If that breathy whisper were to brush against his chest… Liang Jiashu’s breathing grew heavier as he stared at Lu Chi’s lips, his gaze practically grinding over them like physical friction…
As if his eyes could turn them even redder, even softer.
Lu Chi froze, staring at him in utter disbelief, feeling absolutely horrified.
“…Are you insane?! We’re in the middle of the street!” he said, while watching the young man go into heat in public. He truly couldn’t understand this Gong No.1’s train of thought, but it was a public place, and Lu Chi, who valued his reputation, was ready to push him away and leave!
But Liang Jiashu immediately raised his arms, loosely holding him in place. Expressionless, he lowered his head and leaned in even closer. The young man’s heated breath, tinged with the scent of grass and wood, suddenly filled the air, unavoidable and… Inescapable.
He got into character way too fast!
Then, Liang Jiashu’s voice grew slightly hoarse as he said, “Lu Chi, a good master doesn’t just abandon his beloved dog.”
“……”
Lu Chi…
Lu Chi exhaled deeply.
He was honestly so pissed by that guy’s sheer audacity that he almost laughed! After a few breaths, he abruptly turned his head and scanned the area. It was nighttime.
A secluded corner, silent and empty, far from the crowds.
And overhead, the tangled mess of electrical wires neatly avoided the surveillance cameras.
Perfect spot.
Lu Chi raised his hand without warning and grabbed Liang Jiashu by the roots of his hair, yanking him forward with one hand and forcing him to meet his gaze. He locked eyes with the man’s sharp, dark gaze and spoke in a low, warning tone: “A good master always keeps his dog on a leash. But Young Master Liang, are you even worthy of becoming my beloved dog?”
The man’s words were thick and hot, like the scent of velvety rose petals tumbling down past his ear and melting into his bloodstream, heating up Liang Jiashu’s blood and his whole damn body.
Liang Jiashu’s breathing grew even heavier, to the point of being scalding.
His solid forearm braced against Lu Chi’s shoulder, trapping him in place, as he answered in a husky voice: “I am. Lu Chi, as long as you want me to be, I’ll become worthy of anything you ask.”
They were close in height and now stood far too close. The intensity of their proximity filled the air with each other’s breath, like two animals closing in to exchange scent in a dizzying, primal intimacy that made the heart tremble.
Lu Chi looked at Liang Jiashu.
That man was young, brilliant, devastatingly handsome, and filthy rich. Even though he was also weird, controlling, and emotionally frigid, he was still, by far, the most “perfect” character in the whole damn novel.
And right now, that “perfect” character was bowing his head, fixing Lu Chi with eyes full of seriousness, just to prove…
…That he was worthy to be held on a leash.
Lu Chi stared into those solemn, jet-black eyes for a moment, then suddenly let out a soft laugh. In the dark, his light brown eyes curved slightly, his smile sweet and beautiful like a fox spirit from a traditional legend. Dangerous, seductive, and otherworldly.
In the end, he signed that utterly absurd “investment agreement,” then gently raised his hand and pressed the mobile phone against Liang Jiashu’s face.
Cool glass met burning skin as Lu Chi blinked and spoke in a voice as sweet as candy: “Then prove it. Liang Jiashu, how does a beloved dog beg its master?”
Liang Jiashu simply looked at Lu Chi’s seductive smile, and in that instant, a wave of subtle, scalding tremors rolled through his chest.
Lu Chi had always been so nonchalant.
He was beautiful… But his beauty was sharp-edged, and he never cared about appearances. The private detective had followed him for days, capturing stacks of photos now piled up in Liang Jiashu’s lab. He’d looked over those negatives countless times, peering at Lu Chi’s true face through the lens.
He’d seen him wake up under the morning sun, messy pink curls on his head as he went downstairs for breakfast. After washing up, he didn’t even bother drying the droplets on his face, just chewing on a popsicle with his cheeks puffed up like a juicy, ripe peach.
He’d seen him zoning out on his tiny balcony at night, watching the stars in silence and not going to bed until dawn. That little nightlight was always on, casting its soft yellow glow as Lu Chi would curl up in its warmth, eyes closed, peacefully sleeping like a child.
When he went out to dye his hair, he’d always pick the cheapest dye. Yet the stylist would always secretly use the most expensive product and even give him complimentary treatment afterward. And yet, Lu Chi had no idea, simply closing his eyes and accepting it all like it was only natural.
At FOM, he danced under countless gazes, but never wavered, not bothering to bend over for tips. As for anyone who crossed him, he’d strip them down and throw them in the trash cans, stomping their faces with his shoe like the disgusting cigarette butts they were.
But then, in front of older women, he’d blush. He’d get hopelessly lost staring at a map, confused and disoriented. He’d cradle a teacup with both hands and smile awkwardly, shy as a child. And when he was being cocky, he’d raise his brows, just like that naughty stray cat from A University.
He was, without a doubt, beautiful. But also sharp, strong, and soft.
Only someone who had once been adored like a star in the sky, who had bathed in waves of flowers and applause, could carry that kind of effortless strength.
The kind of confidence he didn’t need to fake.
And for someone to be surrounded by such overflowing affection, he must have been someone truly worthy of being loved.
Gu Yanyan had tried so many times to mimic his tone and mannerisms, but never realized that Lu Chi’s strength came from within, from his inner wealth and his clear spirit.
His appearance and words were just accessories to that soul.
So sometimes, Liang Jiashu would have a scandalous, unthinkable thought:
Did Lu Chi have a completely different soul now?
He never stayed with anyone. His gaze was always absentminded, with a faint, lazy smile, fluttering like a butterfly.
But when those eyes landed on him… When Lu Chi spoke with a voice as sweet as sugar, scratching straight at Liang Jiashu’s heart… When his light brown eyes gleamed with interest and mischief…
It was as if he was saying:
Liang Jiashu, I might be slightly interested in you.
Like a butterfly finally fluttering down… Taking an interest in the lifeless grave beneath.
A violent, uncontainable throb slammed into Liang Jiashu as his throat went dry. Like a dog desperate for its master’s attention, he too wanted to wag his tail furiously, begging for just another look. After all, the way Lu Chi looked at him made Liang Jiashu want to fall to his knees, kiss his fingertips, and lick every inch of his body.
But Liang Jiashu had never been someone full of deep emotion.
The Liang Group was a dense, entangled power structure, and his mother, Liang Mingzhu, had never held real status in her early years. She married into power for strategic reasons, and only conceived through IVF due to internal pressure. After giving birth to him at a late age, she immediately severed her role as a mother and returned to the executive ladder, climbing ruthlessly, until she finally became the undisputed head of the Liang Group.
So naturally, Liang Jiashu had been raised by nannies since birth.
He never craved companionship. Instead, he gravitated toward cold, rational data and dangerous chemical compounds. However, he still inherited his mother’s intelligence, decisiveness, and dominance… It’s just that… He also added indifference, obsession, control issues, and neuroses to that mix.
Liang Jiashu knew exactly what others thought of him: weird, boring, smart but rigid…
And to a point, it was all true as he did hate chaotic, unstructured things. After all, experiments were meant to be exact, leaving no room for error. Any variable could ruin everything and violate the core of his obsession with control.
But Lu Chi’s appearance in his life was like those dangerous chemical reagents.
So vivid and unique, with every move he made being unpredictable and uncontrollable. He was like a glowing jellyfish suddenly drifting through the gray sky… You had no idea why it glowed, or why there was a jellyfish in the sky to begin with, but you couldn’t help but follow it with your eyes.
He even reminded Liang Jiashu of the first experiment he ever saw in childhood.
Just two drops poured in, and it triggered a dangerous, violent explosion. From that moment on, the dazzling world of science drew back its mysterious curtain and extended a silent invitation towards him.
And now, Lu Chi blinked at him and smiled as he asked again: “Liang Jiashu, what sound should a good dog make?”
His voice was soft and casual, but Liang Jiashu once again felt that familiar, even more violent, dizzying sense of something exploding in front of his eyes.
He wanted to keep him smiling like that forever, and he wanted those eyes to stay fixed only on him.
So if he wanted him to bark like a dog, then Liang Jiashu would bark.
As long as Lu Chi wanted to hear it.
The tall young man lowered his head slightly, and for a moment, he looked like a stray dog on the street, wagging its tail to please passersby. Then, with a blank expression, he said very calmly: “Woof.”
Lu Chi froze and looked up at those cold, pitch-black eyes, only to see that Liang Jiashu was incredibly composed. And yet, he was also clearly, consciously barking like a dog, just for him.
And it was not the mean kind of dog, either.
The young man mimicked the sweet, well-behaved kind, and honestly, he was pretty convincing…
But when paired with that deadpan face of his, he looked less like a good dog and more like a top-tier bad dog in disguise.
Lu Chi was caught between astonishment and the urge to laugh.
Liang Jiashu watched him for a moment, then asked, totally serious: “Sorry… Was that not right?”
“I can try again.”
Lu Chi still didn’t reply. Instead, he raised his hand and gently patted the top of Liang Jiashu’s head like he was handling an actual twenty-year-old boy.
A younger, clueless little brother.
His cool, soft fingers only brushed for a second before pulling away. Then Lu Chi asked: “Liang Jiashu, do you feel like I’m humiliating you?”
Liang Jiashu, still focused on those soft fingertips that had just touched him, immediately corrected: “Lu Chi, you’re rewarding me.”
The evidence?
His increasingly heated breath, and the enthusiastic… Response in his pants.
Every time Lu Chi’s eyes turned his way, Liang Jiashu had a physical reaction he could no longer control.
Lu Chi: “…”
He glanced down and paused.
…Liang Jiashu was rock-hard again.
What exactly was his turn-on?!
Being a good dog?!
Lu Chi suddenly covered his face. A few seconds later, without warning, he burst into laughter. But this time, he didn’t follow it up with a slap or cutting remark. Instead, he casually leaned his head against Liang Jiashu’s arm, laughing with ease and amusement.
“Hey, Liang Jiashu,” Lu Chi said between chuckles, “I’ve just realized you’re kind of weird.”
It could be said that he’d never met a protagonist quite like that before. Even after acting in so many roles in his past life, none of them were so… Repressed and candid at the same time.
Lu Chi chuckled again.
Liang Jiashu could feel the weight of his head, as light as a feather. The warmth of Lu Chi’s skin passed easily through the thin fabric of his shirt, spreading through his whole arm like an electric current. For a moment, he was so dazed by the contact that he didn’t even register what Lu Chi was saying.
It took him a few seconds to catch up, only to see Lu Chi’s eyes curving with laughter.
Liang Jiashu: “…Are you that satisfied?”
So… Lu Chi liked that kind of play?
Lu Chi, completely unaware of the filthy interpretation in Liang Jiashu’s head, curled his lips and nodded. “Mm-hmm.”
Seeing the usually unreadable protagonist stumble through an awkward “performance”?
Of course, he was extremely pleased!
But Liang Jiashu appeared thoughtful, already considering what sort of props or accessories he could buy to make Lu Chi even happier. His gaze drifted down without thinking, until it stopped.
Just below Lu Chi’s collarbone, there was a deep purple bruise, looking like a crack on perfect white porcelain, so jarringly out of place.
Because the detective’s camera angles were always taken from a distance or obscured view, none of the photos had ever revealed these injuries. Liang Jiashu’s expression turned cold in an instant as his dark eyes narrowed.
…It must’ve been those loan sharks.
He hadn’t expected those losers to be so brutal, to the point where Lu Chi still had bruises on his body. And his beloved… Even though he seemed so composed and in control, he didn’t even care about his own injuries. He hadn’t treated them at all!
Liang Jiashu’s face darkened completely as any other thoughts disappeared. He gently wrapped his palm around Lu Chi’s wrist and started walking him toward the sports car, saying, “Come with me.”
Lu Chi, confused, asked: “Where are you taking me? The police haven’t arrived yet. Liang Zhiyu and Gu Yanyan are still inside.”
There was still one person half-dead on the floor of FOM!
Was anyone going to care?!
At the mention of those names, Liang Jiashu exhaled impatiently, as if he’d just heard him talk about two stupid pigs. He led Lu Chi to the car, opened the door, and shielded his head as he helped him inside. “I’ll go take care of it. Give me five minutes,” he said.
But after speaking, Liang Jiashu still stood in front of the door, staring at Lu Chi without moving.
Lu Chi paused, then suddenly understood. “…Okay. Go ahead.”
Only then did Liang Jiashu nod, like a well-trained guard dog who’d just received permission from his master. He closed the door, turned, and strode quickly back into FOM.
…Really acting like a good dog.
Lu Chi watched as his cold, indifferent figure walked away, giving a half-hearted prayer on behalf of Gu Yanyan and Liang Zhiyu. Not even three minutes later, a loud crash rang out from FOM, followed by the crackling of shattered glass.
Another thirty seconds passed before Liang Jiashu came out with a blank expression, followed by a cold-sweating Manager Zhao.
Lu Chi saw them exchanging a few words. Liang Jiashu’s handsome face looked cool and emotionless, his eyes calmly lowered as he looked nothing like the man who’d just been flushed with excitement a few minutes ago.
…Bad dog mode reactivated.
Lu Chi blinked.
Soon, Manager Zhao left, and Liang Jiashu returned to the driver’s seat, silently pressing the gas pedal. Lu Chi didn’t ask where they were going or what had just happened inside FOM. Instead, he simply tilted his head and watched Liang Jiashu with great interest.
Feeling the weight of Lu Chi’s gaze, Liang Jiashu’s breath grew hotter as his grip on the steering wheel unconsciously tightened. However, to Lu Chi, it felt like he was watching him switch modes in real time:
Good dog… Bad dog! Good dog… Bad dog! Good… Bad!
He couldn’t help but burst into laughter, asking, “Liang Jiashu, how are you so repressed and dramatic?”
You’ve got enough internal monologue for eight volumes of angsty web novels, ah!
Liang Jiashu didn’t reply. Noticing the breeze had tousled Lu Chi’s hair, he silently rolled up the windows and drove them back to his quiet luxury complex.
……………………………..
It was unclear how much time had passed when the car finally came to a stop in the underground garage. Liang Jiashu was about to speak, but when he turned his head, he froze.
Just half a meter away, the man in the passenger seat had his lashes lowered and his eyes shut. At some point, Lu Chi had fallen asleep.
The shifting light cast patterns over his face like dancing shadows.
Liang Jiashu stared at him in silence for a few seconds. Then, he pulled out his phone and began secretly taking pictures of Lu Chi’s rare sleeping expression. Maybe he was too exhausted that night, but Liang Jiashu took photos from every angle for twenty minutes, and Lu Chi still didn’t stir.
After a brief hesitation, Liang Jiashu chose not to wake him. Instead, he quietly stepped out of the driver’s seat, circled around, and opened the passenger door, then slid his arms beneath Lu Chi’s knees to lift him…
But just as he was about to carry him bridal-style, Lu Chi’s eyes suddenly opened, misty and sleepy. He stared at him for a moment, then asked in a raspy, just-woken voice: “Liang Jiashu, why do you have night lights in your car?”
Inside the luxury Rolls-Royce, all the harsh lights had been removed, replaced by soft, warm-toned ambient lights that lulled Lu Chi to sleep. Liang Jiashu looked down and answered plainly, as if discussing a minor fact: “Because you’re afraid of the dark. And your favorite color for a night light is warm yellow.”
In all those photos, the night light in Lu Chi’s rental apartment was never turned off.
Lu Chi paused, then chuckled. “You know… You could at least try to hide the fact that you’ve been spying on me.”
Liang Jiashu scooped him up without blinking, carried him into the elevator, and pressed the button for his floor. “A good dog doesn’t lie,” he said.
Lu Chi laughed so hard he nearly choked. “You’re really going for it now, huh?” he asked. “Then what did you bring me to your place for? A good dog wouldn’t randomly bring someone home for a sleepover either.”
Liang Jiashu’s face remained stoic. “You have an injury on your collarbone. I brought you back to apply medicine. If you don’t want to stay, I’ll take you home after.”
Lu Chi paused.
He hadn’t expected him to notice.
Even the system hadn’t caught that.
After a moment, Lu Chi leaned on Liang Jiashu’s broad shoulder and teased: “Wow, you’re so attentive.”
Liang Jiashu: “…”
His muscles instantly tensed.
Lu Chi blinked again and, holding back his laughter, added: “And your shoulders are so wide and firm. So solid, makes me feel really safe.”
The words had barely left his mouth when Liang Jiashu reflexively flexed the muscles in his arms, coldly and seriously stating, “I work out at least two hours every day. My body fat percentage is consistently around ten percent. I’m strong enough to protect you.”
He then looked down, eyes fixed on Lu Chi, clearly waiting to be praised some more.
“…”
The elevator was filled with silence.
Strangely, when Liang Zhiyu said things like that, Lu Chi just wanted to book him an appointment at a psych ward. But now, with the same lines coming from Liang Jiashu, it somehow felt…
Earnest, and kind of hilarious.
Ding!
The elevator doors opened.
Lu Chi, still shaking with laughter, reached out and grabbed Liang Jiashu’s large hand that was resting on his shoulder. As the elevator lights dimmed and just before they flared back on, Lu Chi blinked, suddenly lowered his head, and swiftly kissed the tips of Liang Jiashu’s fingers.
Soft and wet.
A quick kiss.
He then looked up at Liang Jiashu’s dilated pupils and, with a bright grin, leapt out of his arms while saying: “A reward for being a good boy.”
……………………………
The next morning, after applying his medicine, Lu Chi promptly ghosted and went home. Of course, he spent the next week preparing his teaching materials, ignoring all messages from Liang Jiashu.
And a week later, the semester officially began at A University.
Lu Chi followed the professor lazily into a packed lecture hall with his head down, scanning the sea of students from the corner of his eye.
The very next second, he locked eyes with a familiar pair of pitch-black pupils.

T.N: Don’t worry, I read ahead and nothing happened between them just yet :)) We weren’t robbed of a fast train that ran by so fast we couldn’t even see it, but I had to make sure ‘cuz I also thought this was some censorship thing to imply something went on that night, with Lu Chi ghosting in the morning and all that :))
