Hearing his host’s order, the quick and obedient “Professionally Immoral” System immediately started flipping through the plot, digital pages rustling noisily in Lu Chi’s mind. But after researching for a while, it’s poor little brain still couldn’t find anything wrong.
In the end, it was just a simple string of code. Outcome-oriented but completely incapable of grasping anything when it came to human emotions.
However, Lu Chi still picked a typical question, trying to test it: [So, what kind of person do you think Liang Jiashu is?]
System: [Calm and rational, of course! After witnessing Gu Yanyan being bullied both at work and at school, he felt compassion and stepped in. So at his core, he’s kind!]
Lu Chi said nothing. In the end, he simply stood on the street and started laughing like crazy. Half a block away, Liang Jiashu watched as Lu Chi stopped suspiciously in place, only to suddenly bend over in a fit of laughter. His frog-head bag bounced along with his laughter, both hideous and impossible to miss.
After he was done laughing, Lu Chi passed an ice cream cart by the roadside. He scanned the QR code and bought himself a giant peach-flavored cone, then started chomping away. As he ate, he casually said: [In the original novel, tonight Liang Zhiyu got into a bad mood, and after getting refused and slapped twice by Gu Yanyan in public, he snapped. He ordered the waiters to hold him down, then picked up a champagne bottle and smashed it over his head.]
Gu Yanyan’s skull was cracked open, with blood soaking most of the wool carpet. Liang Zhiyu, feeling avenged, was about to walk away, only to notice that Gu Yanyan had kept his hands protectively over his head and pants pocket the whole time, never saying a word and silently enduring the beating. Clearly enough, he was definitely hiding something.
However, just as the Second Young Master reached out his hand to grab whatever it was, a frosty voice came from behind.
Liang Jiashu.
Liang Zhiyu hated and feared his cousin in equal measure, so the sudden sound of his voice startled him half-sober. Then he looked again at Gu Yanyan who was lying motionless on the floor, finally realizing the gravity of the disaster he’d caused.
A rich young master attempted to force a poor student, only to attack him with bestiality once the victim refused! That type of headline was sure to blow up faster on the Internet than anything before.
Especially now, when the second branch of the Liang family was trying to rebrand and launch a new product line. Getting caught in a scandal like that would be a death sentence for his father’s entire business campaign, sure to attract the wrath of heaven.
However, Liang Jiashu said nothing extra. He just watched coldly from the sidelines for a while before ordering his bodyguards to tie Liang Zhiyu up and throw him in the car. From start to finish, he didn’t even glance at the unconscious Gu Yanyan.
It was Manager Zhao who finally had someone carry him to the hospital.
So Lu Chi asked the system: [You still call that “the Gong rescuing the Shou“?]
The innocent system replied with a righteous tone of voice: [Of course, Baby! From the outcome perspective, if Liang Jiashu hadn’t shown up, Gu Yanyan would’ve likely been beaten to death! Isn’t that saving him?!]
Lu Chi bit off the top of his ice cream cone. His gaze swept past a nearby shop’s window reflection and, after catching something from the corner of his eye, his gaze narrowed slightly. However, he still chose to round a corner at a leisurely pace, continuing to discuss the plot with his system. [Liang Jiashu saw Liang Zhiyu raise his hand, saw Gu Yanyan get beaten, and only spoke up at the end, after blood had already been spilled. His motive for interfering was definitely unclear. In the novel, it said he skipped grades all the way into A University, and at just twenty, he’s already in his third year of grad school and starting work at the family company. What does that tell you?]
The system hesitated: [It means… He’s impressive?]
[…]
Lu Chi crunched down on his cone, face unreadable: [It means he’s sharp and obviously smart, with a very high IQ. Fully aware of everything going on around him. Me quitting my job? That was just to make him less suspicious of me. Besides, guys like that are the worst kind of repressed perverts. The colder they look on the outside, the scarier they are inside. You never know where their bottom line is.]
Stalking someone was one thing.
But doing it while looking like that?!
Boring enough that it made people want to burn incense on his behalf? And what was his deal anyway? Already acting like a monk at barely twenty… If he ever saw Lu Chi dancing in a G-string, would he poke out his eyes to prove his innocence?!
Lu Chi couldn’t help laughing at his own thoughts.
The system, however, was terrified. After a long pause, it said: [Then… Then let’s not seduce him! Let’s go after the Shou! The little white flower definitely won’t hurt us!]
Lu Chi just kept smiling, without correcting it. Sometimes, there was no real difference between the small, white lotus and the big, thorny rose. Gu Yanyan was definitely not simple either.
[Relax. FOM is a high-frequency plot zone.] Lu Chi continued, trying to appease the frightened system. [Even after quitting, I can always go back as a guest. It won’t affect anything.]
From the start, he never planned to be anyone’s dancing monkey. Exhausting himself every night while the boss pocketed all the big bucks? Yeah right…
Who said customers couldn’t dance? He could rake in money while standing up!
In late August, the temperature on the street was still high. Lu Chi turned another corner, walking around both slowly and aimlessly. The system, noticing the same ice cream cart as before, suddenly froze before asking: [Host… You already walked down this street before.]
Lu Chi stopped.
[Really?]
[Yeah. That peach ice cream cone in your hand, you bought it from here.]
Lu Chi blinked, let out a little Oh!, and slowly pulled out his phone to check Baidu Maps. The system paused for a moment, thinking back to the past week since they arrived, only to realize that every time they commuted, Lu Chi had to use his phone navigation…
It suddenly understood.
[Host, you’re… Directionally challenged?!]
Surprisingly, Lu Chi admitted it cheerfully: [Yup.]
System: […]
Not far away, in the front seat of his Maybach, Liang Jiashu silently raised his eyes watching, in full view, as Lu Chi circled the same building twice. He thought Lu Chi had spotted him and was deliberately messing with him…
…But then Lu Chi just stopped, took a few more bites of his cone, and walked right back to the ice cream cart to buy another one. This time around, it was grape-flavored.
Holding the comically oversized ice cream cone in one hand and his frog-head bag on his back, Lu Chi started strolling again, nibbling happily.
Liang Jiashu: “…”
The man in the back seat finished reporting on Lu Chi’s background, then pulled out a thicker file. This one also came with a soft, pale color photo, pinned in the top-left corner, and a name printed neatly below: Gu Yanyan.
“Young Master—”
Liang Jiashu took the file, only to toss it carelessly into the glovebox without even glancing at it. His eyes were still locked on Lu Chi, as if trying to figure something out.
He looked very much like a Taoist priest staring at a seductive fox spirit.
Honk! Honk!
The Maybach was driving too slowly and was now being honked at from behind. Since it was a public road and not exactly ideal for stalking someone, blocking traffic only made it more obvious.
The driver looked over, unsure of what to do.
Liang Jiashu hadn’t spoken yet, face unreadable, when suddenly—
Lu Chi, overheated and too poor to pay for a taxi, turned around and casually walked straight up to the Maybach. Without warning, he bent down and knocked on the window.
Two seconds later, the tinted glass lowered slowly.
Lu Chi met Liang Jiashu’s pitch-black eyes, asking bluntly while biting off the top of his grape-flavoured ice cream: “Are you following me?”
Quit pretending to be a monk, you nut case!
“…”
Liang Jiashu went quiet, probably shocked and surprised by how direct he was. However, Lu Chi simply gave him a lazy side-eye, without saying anything more. Then, with the same directness, he gestured to the driver to open the door, plopped himself in the back seat like he owned it, and casually reported his rental address.
“Be a dear and drive me home, yeah? Thanks.”
After speaking, Lu Chi finished his series of actions by chomping down the rest of the cone in two bites and leaning back with his eyes closed, enjoying the A/C.
Liang Jiashu sat still for a moment, then quietly got out and switched seats with the man in the back, facing Lu Chi. The driver hesitated for a few seconds, then stepped on the gas under the chilling pressure of his employer’s stare.
Liang Jiashu looked up. In the dark, tinted window, he took in Lu Chi’s reflection, complete with his dusty pink hair and porcelain-pale face. The corners of his mouth were curved slightly, as if smug from catching a pervert in the act.
He really did have a clever-looking face…
But for some reason, when Liang Jiashu saw that ridiculous frog-head bag rubbing against the leather seat of his car, he couldn’t help but feel…
…He was definitely one of those idiots who thought they were outsmarting everyone, when in fact, they were just a clueless butterfly flapping straight into a hunter’s trap.
Liang Jiashu lowered his gaze and tidied the pressed cuffs of his sleeve. Then, after a pause, he pulled out Lu Chi’s file again and opened it with deliberate ease.
“Earning five million in a week. Impressive skills,” he said flatly.
Click.
The car doors locked.
Lu Chi’s body stiffened slightly as he opened his eyes. The scenery outside the window was unfamiliar, speeding by in a blur, but no matter how directionally challenged he was, one thing was for sure.
It wasn’t the road to his rental at all!
Turning his head, Lu Chi came in close contact with He Liang Jiashu’s eyes. Black and deep, utterly emotionless.
He’d done it on purpose, deliberately luring him into the car!
Then Liang Jiashu spoke, his tone calm as ever: “Mr. Lu, are you trying to seduce my younger brother?” Before Lu Chi could answer, he raised his gaze again, voice chilly enough to freeze skin: “Looks like the beating you got from the casino thugs wasn’t enough to make it clear…”
“…You should know that a penniless gambler always dies a miserable death.”
In response to his not-so-veiled threat, Lu Chi only raised an eyebrow ever so slightly. Outside, the scenery whizzed past while he stared at Liang Jiashu’s expression, the same solemn look of a Taoist priest trying to subdue a demon. Suddenly, Lu Chi smiled.
The guy was kind of interesting.
Not to mention… Sultry~.
They’d known each other for less than ten minutes, and he’d already pulled out the entire repertoire of stalking, kidnapping, and interrogation tactics, probably heading to the grand climax of chaining him in his little black room. Whatever it was, it wasn’t the way one treated another person, but the way a man treated a toy he was interested in.
And all it took was a flicker of interest.
Liang Jiashu was ready to pounce, hold you tight, and keep you caged.
Force you into submission until there wasn’t a drop of defiance left in your bones.
Was it an obsessive-compulsive disorder? Or just plain psychopathy?
Only twenty years old, and already this big of a pervert.
The system sobbed bitter rivers in Lu Chi’s mind: [What do we do, what do we do?! He’s a pervert! Pervert, pervert! Baby, I’m so sorry, wuwuwuwu…]
However, Lu Chi chuckled: [It’s okay.]
[Really?!] The system sniffled.
[Yeah.] Lu Chi replied. [I used to be a movie emperor, so I had tons of obsessive fans. I’ve seen all kinds of freaks, he’s nothing new.]
…Well then. That was actually…
Kind of worthy of him!
After a few calm words, the system was finally appeased. As for Lu Chi, he kept his eyes on Liang Jiashu’s face. Then, he lazily crossed one leg over the other and asked, voice drawn out in a teasing tone: “Young Master Liang, are you jealous?”
Liang Jiashu froze.
Even across several meters of space, his pupils still went visibly cold, like some sort of sentient refrigerator. In an instant, the temperature in the car dropped by a full eight degrees. The driver and assistant both went pale, immediately raising the divider and not daring to make a sound.
“What did you just say?”
Lu Chi didn’t answer.
Instead, he rested his chin on one hand. Then, without warning, he tilted his head and abruptly lifted his crossed foot, stepping squarely on Liang Jiashu’s thigh.
No prelude and definitely, no warning.
Under his foot, the man’s muscles tensed instantly, turning as hard as stone. In the split second when the Young Master instinctively started to get up, Lu Chi’s hand shot out. He grabbed the perfectly pressed collar and yanked it forward, dragging Liang Jiashu down and pinning a hand to the nape of his neck.
His grip was strong, but his fingers were soft, cold, and as white as jade.
The crisp shirt became wrinkled in an instant.
“I said,” Lu Chi smiled, repeating softly. “Liang Jiashu, are you jealous that I slapped Liang Zhiyu?”
The car fell deathly silent.
For once, Liang Jiashu’s mind went completely blank. All he could see was Lu Chi’s face in that moment and, looking down at the bulge that started to form in his own pants…
It was like watching a dog go into heat in public.
