The two left the training room, leaving only Jiang Lele and Jiang Shi behind.
Once the door closed, Jiang Lele’s last bit of composure collapsed. Even his shoulders slumped.
Jiang Shi looked at the downturned corners of Jiang Lele’s mouth and was quiet for a moment before asking, “Why are you so anxious about Back going on a blind date? Are you afraid he’ll fall in love with someone else?”
Jiang Lele looked up, seriously thinking it over. “Probably not, right? If he starts dating someone, I should be happy for him.”
But his voice grew smaller and smaller. “But I just… can’t feel happy.”
His first instinct had been to go ruin the date.
Jiang Lele tugged at his own hair. “T Bao, am I sick?”
Jiang Shi, who suddenly felt attacked for no reason: “…”
He took a deep breath, reminding himself not to argue with a clueless fool. Trying to be patient, he was about to offer more comfort, but instead said, “You’re not sick, you’re just stupid.”
His already thin reserves of sympathy were now totally drained. He added coldly, “I’m honestly really curious what you’re thinking. Weren’t you all into those female streamers before?”
Jiang Lele explained, “It’s not like I really watched them or anything. Sometimes I forgot to switch accounts and wandered into their streams by accident. And when they saw me, they’d call me Lele-ge. It just sounded nice.”
Professional players have a very obvious tag when they enter any livestream room, let alone one with “TLG” in the name.
Jiang Shi lifted his eyelids. “So you were sending them gifts just because they called you that? Did you not notice the stinky face Back always makes when he finds out you’re watching female streamers?”
Jiang Lele wasn’t sure. “Really?”
He felt like Back always had a stinky face. It was hard to tell when his mood changed.
Plus, other than the time long ago when he first watched the bunny girl stream, Back never said anything about it again.
Jiang Shi felt like Jiang Lele was missing a screw in his head. Having a normal conversation with him was impossible. He countered, “Would you be okay with Back watching female streamers?”
Jiang Lele didn’t answer.
The answer was obvious.
“Flip it around. If Back called you ‘Lele-ge,’ how would you feel?”
The moment the words left Jiang Shi’s mouth, Jiang Lele’s drooping head snapped up, but then he realized he’d reacted too strongly. His eyes darted around and he stammered, “Just… you know… whatever.”
Jiang Shi looked at his ears, which were red to the tips, and clicked his tongue. “One last question.”
What do you think of me and Xu?”
Jiang Lele blinked, turned to look at him. “You guys are great! I’m even a little jealous.”
Jiang Shi caught something else in his tone. “You want to be like me and Xie Xu… with Back?”
Jiang Lele nodded honestly.
He hated that invisible line between them.
Jiang Shi picked up the orange juice on the table and took a slow sip. “Then there’s nothing more to talk about.”
“You like Back. Right now, you’re nervous and upset because you’re scared he’s going to date someone else. That’s it. It’s that simple.”
It hit Jiang Lele like a bomb dropped on his head.
He drifted out of the training room like a zombie.
Someone in the break room watched a ghost float by, leaving behind a soulless line: “Captain, I don’t feel well. I’m taking the night off.”
Jiang Lele went back to bed and pulled the blanket over his head to sleep.
His dream was chaotic, sometimes he heard Yu Hui calling him “Lele-ge,” and sometimes he saw Yu Hui bringing a girl back to base, introducing her to everyone as his girlfriend.
The fragmented dream made his emotions surge wildly, and in the final scene, Yu Hui was holding another person’s hand. He woke up with a jolt.
He glanced out the window into the pitch-black night, then tumbled out of bed, ran straight to Yu Hui’s room, and banged on the door.
“Back! Yu Hui! Open the door!”
His voice was raspy from sleep, shaking from too many emotions tangled together.
Yu Hui had actually come back a while ago. After hearing from Xie Xu that Jiang Lele wasn’t feeling well, he had distractedly gone through his daily training, debating whether or not to check on him. Then suddenly, someone was knocking at his door.
Before he could say anything, the person outside dove straight into his arms.
“You’re not allowed to date. You’re not allowed to hold hands with other girls.”
Jiang Lele said it while tightening his arms around Yu Hui’s waist, terrified that he’d be pushed away like before.
Yu Hui paused for a moment, then reached out to close the door and lifted Jiang Lele’s face buried in his chest.
His face was wet. Jiang Lele had been crying again.
He was crying so hard he was out of breath.
Maybe feeling embarrassed, Jiang Lele swatted away Yu Hui’s hand on his chin and buried his face even deeper into Yu Hui’s chest.
Yu Hui was a bit confused but still patted his head. “When did I ever hold hands with another girl or start dating?”
“Today,” Jiang Lele sounded miserably wronged. “You were gone all day. You didn’t even answer my calls.”
Yu Hui frowned, accused of something out of nowhere. “Auntie kept going on about it, so I met up with the girl to make things clear and left right after.”
After that, he’d gone to a park alone and sat for the entire afternoon.
Spacing out. Trying to calm down.
Jiang Lele looked up, eyes still glossy with tears. “Really? If you’re lying to me, you’re dead meat.”
Yu Hui wiped the tears off his face. “Really.”
Jiang Lele immediately stopped crying, wiped his face dry using Yu Hui’s white T-shirt, then demanded in a still-choked voice, “Then why didn’t you answer my call!”
This time, Yu Hui didn’t reply.
He didn’t know what to say to Jiang Lele.
After that kiss the night before, Yu Hui hadn’t been able to sleep a wink.
Jiang Lele held Yu Hui’s face, forcing him to meet his eyes. “Say something.”
There were still tears on his hands, smearing wetness on Yu Hui’s face.
But Yu Hui stayed silent.
After staring at him for a while, Jiang Lele said, “Forget it. I won’t force you. But you owe me.”
He squinted. “Call me ‘ge’ once.”
Yu Hui: “?”
He shoved the person in his arms away. “Stop being crazy.”
Jiang Lele didn’t expect such a blunt rejection. His mouth drooped, and he looked like he was about to cry again.
Yu Hui was genuinely scared of that. “What’s wrong with you?”
The tears came without warning.
Plop—a teardrop fell onto Yu Hui’s hand, scalding enough that his fingers twitched.
“Ge.”
A low, fast word, blurted out in a single breath.
Jiang Lele’s tears stopped immediately. His eyes lit up, and out of habit, he almost tried to send a gift. Then he remembered Yu Hui wasn’t streaming. After a moment of thought, he just leaned in and planted a smooch on Yu Hui’s cheek.
This time, he even deliberately switched to the left cheek.
Yu Hui was stunned, standing stiffly in place.
He had spent the whole day calming himself down, trying to suppress all the messy thoughts. Now, it was all for nothing.
But Jiang Lele wasn’t done. He even tried to kiss Yu Hui on the lips. Yu Hui reacted quickly, covering his mouth. “Jiang Lele, what the hell is wrong with you today?”
Jiang Lele pulled his hand away and replied with a completely unrelated question, “Why aren’t you dating that girl?”
Yu Hui’s face was expressionless. “None of your damn business!”
Jiang Lele grinned. “Then how about dating me?”
Yu Hui: “?”
He reached out and felt Jiang Lele’s forehead. No fever.
Jiang Lele brushed the hand away impatiently and declared like giving an order, “You will date me!”
That dream had made him realize — if Yu Hui ended up with someone else, he might as well be dead. Yu Hui could only be his.
Yu Hui shot him a sideways glance. “Not dating.”
Jiang Lele got anxious. “You’re gonna date someone sooner or later, why not me?!”
Yu Hui: “……”
He grabbed Jiang Lele by the collar, opened the door, and tried to throw him out. But just as he was about to shut it, a hand suddenly wedged into the doorframe.
Yu Hui’s eyelid twitched. He quickly stopped the door from slamming shut. “If your hand actually got caught, how the hell are you supposed to train afterward?!”
Jiang Lele took the opportunity to squeeze back inside, looking smug. “I knew you wouldn’t have the heart to do it.”
He latched onto Yu Hui’s arm. “Back, I like you. Don’t date anyone else.”
His tone was soft and playful, exactly like the way he usually whined.
Yu Hui looked down at him. “Do you even know what you’re saying?”
Jiang Lele nodded rapidly. “I do! I’m confessing my love to you!”
Yu Hui’s gaze darkened. He reached out and slammed the still-open door shut.
“Bang!” the sound startled Jiang Lele, who instinctively turned to look, only to have his chin grabbed and his face tilted upward.
When he saw forward, all he saw was Yu Hui lowering his head, inching closer.
Yu Hui pushed him against the door and kissed him, catching Jiang Lele completely off guard.
Their lips had just touched when Jiang Lele instinctively leaned back a little—his head bumping into the door with a muffled thunk.
Yu Hui’s heart sank. He pulled back slightly, lips twitching, ready to stop—when he was suddenly pulled back by the neck.
Jiang Lele, now snapped out of it, cautiously kissed him back. His lips were salty from the tears he had just shed.
The kiss was clumsy and inexperienced, but it somehow grounded both their chaotic hearts, and brought them closer.
Afterward, Jiang Lele was pulled into Yu Hui’s arms. He licked his lips and asked, “Back, you kissed me… does that mean you’re gonna date me?”
“We’ll talk later.”
“Fuck, you scumbag!”
But as soon as the insult left his mouth, he switched back to whining. “Wahhhh, date me, date me, Back Back Back~”
“Stop yelling.”
“I’ll stop if you date me. Are you gonna date me or not?”
His noisy mouth was silenced again. After a few minutes of peace, Yu Hui reached out and pinched Jiang Lele’s soft cheek.
Jiang Lele slapped his hand away in protest. “You’ll make my face get rounder!”
Yu Hui pinched it again.
Jiang Lele blinked in surprise. He suddenly felt like that invisible wall between them was gone.
Still, he wasn’t entirely satisfied. “Why are you suddenly into pinching my face?”
Amid Jiang Lele’s nonstop complaints, Yu Hui’s soft, amused voice came:
“Because I like you.”
Jiang Lele felt like he’d just heard something huge. He was about to ask, when Yu Hui’s phone buzzed several times in his pocket.
It was the TLG team group chat.
[Xu: @TLG’s The Group’s Most Handsome Guy Jiang Lele @Back, done talking yet? Come down and eat.]
[Nine: Jiang Lele didn’t eat dinner, and neither did Yu Hui. Don’t starve yourselves.]
[Obedient Jiangjiang: Hurry before I finish all the crayfish myself :)]
[Yuan Yang: Don’t listen to him, I ordered plenty.]
Yu Hui showed the chat to Jiang Lele. “There’s crayfish.”
Jiang Lele’s stomach let out a perfectly timed growl.
Yu Hui pinched his cheek again. “Wash your face and come down to eat.”
He still had tear streaks all over.
After washing his face, Jiang Lele found Yu Hui waiting for him at the door.
As they headed down the stairs, Jiang Lele craned his neck to peek below. Everyone was already seated, waiting for them. Even Jiang Shi, who’d claimed he’d finish all the crayfish himself, hadn’t touched a bite.
Little Hei, lying on the sofa, looked up at the sound of footsteps.
Jiang Lele was just about to go down when he suddenly remembered he’d forgotten something important. He opened his mouth to say it—only to have his hand grabbed by Yu Hui. “Let’s go.”
Jiang Lele blinked, smiled, and squeezed his hand back.
Downstairs, Jiang Shi’s teasing voice rang out, “What are you two sneaking around up there for?”
Jiang Lele, still holding Yu Hui’s hand, dashed downstairs. “Coming!”
