Chapter 19

Arriving with Elegance

That hand extended the red wine toward Zhong Wanqiu. She stared blankly up at the man, and in that instant, she thought of a leopard, elegant, wild, and dangerous…

What shocked her even more was that this person was none other than Leng Muxun.

In just a few days, she had encountered him repeatedly. Perhaps the previous meetings were coincidences, but this time was it too?

Gently accepting the bottle of wine, she said indifferently, “Thank you.” With that, she turned to leave.

She didn’t want to see the look in his eyes, a look that seemed to say, “Zhong Wanqiu, are you trying to seduce me again?” -a flicker of unease that revealed her inner conflict, inviting readers to feel her vulnerability.

She wasn’t, never had been. Except, of course, for the first time she met him. That day, her heart was in turmoil, entirely out of control after Xia Jingxuan’s betrayal.

“Stop.” But she had only taken two limping steps when Leng Muxun’s voice halted her from behind.

Zhong Wanqiu stopped, her back to Leng Muxun. He was a customer; whatever he asked of her, she had to comply as much as possible.

“Mr. Leng, would you like some XO?” A woman pushing a liquor cart asked in a coquettish tone from behind.

“No need. Tonight, I want red wine.”

“Oh.” The woman responded disappointedly, then said to Zhong Wanqiu, “She has some.”

She honestly didn’t understand why Leng Muxun had come to see her, but now she was one hundred percent certain his arrival was no coincidence; it was a calculated move that deepened the suspense for the audience.

“Xiao Qiu, the customer ordered red wine. Why are you still standing there?” Hong Jie seemed to have noticed something amiss and timely stepped in to help her out.

Zhong Wanqiu turned with a professional smile and said to Leng Muxun, “Sir, please have a seat here.”

“Haha, Xiao Qiu, you’ve got it wrong. Mr. Leng never sits here. He has a reserved VIP Lounge.”

“Oh, sorry. Then, Mr. Leng, please go ahead. I’ll bring it over right away.”

Leng Muxun smiled faintly. “Today, I’ll sit in the main hall.” Instead of choosing a prominent spot, he deliberately selected an inconspicuous corner, hinting at a hidden purpose or desire to observe quietly, which deepens his mysterious aura.

What was this about?

Zhong Wanqiu quickly followed. “Mr. Leng, which year of red wine would you like?” She treated him merely as a customer who was the best.

“1988.” He gave a charming smile, looking up at her with an imposing air of his unique nobility.

“How about 1995?” She didn’t have any from 1988. A bottle from that year would cost at least ten thousand yuan, and red wine from that vintage was already hard to find.

“Xiao Qiu, we have it. Come with me.” Hong Jie hadn’t gone far and called Wanqiu over as soon as she heard Leng Muxun’s request.

Wanqiu had no choice but to follow Hong Jie to fetch the wine. As she limped along, a flicker of doubt crossed her mind-was he here to mock her, or was there something more beneath his calm exterior? Her uncertainty added layers to her emotional tension.

“Xiao Qiu, this customer is quite special, he’s an old friend of the boss. The bar has very little 1988 red wine, and it’s basically reserved for him. Just keep that in mind so you won’t make a mistake in the future.”

She nodded. So, Leng Muxun was such a demanding customer to serve, even his drink preferences were this particular.

Placing the red wine in front of him, she said calmly, “Mr. Leng, please enjoy.”

Not wanting to linger any longer, there was no connection between them anymore, and she didn’t want to be accused of clinging to him, but as she turned to leave, Leng Muxun said from behind, “Sit down.”

“Sorry, I’m not a hostess, I’m a Wine Promoter.” After saying this, Zhong Wanqiu limped away again without waiting for Leng Muxun’s response.
