Chapter 15

A Gentle Male Voice

Zhong Wanqiu sat in the car, watching as it turned a corner. She then released Bai Moyu’s hand and said to the driver, “Please stop up ahead. Thank you.”

“Wanqiu, what are you doing?”

“I want you to get out of the car.”

“No.” His beautiful eyes gazed at her; any other girl would surely be moved. Bai Moyu was as handsome as a painting.

“If you won’t get out, I will.” She shifted toward the car door, ready to step out.

“Wanqiu, your leg is bleeding.” With that slight movement, Bai Moyu finally noticed her condition and reached out to pull her back.

“None of your business,” She snapped, feeling overwhelmed by her unlucky days and the weight of her past. This should deepen the audience’s empathy for her struggles and emotional pain.

“Wanqiu, don’t be so hostile toward me. I told you I’d return that fifty thousand to you in a couple of days. My father was out of line.”

“I don’t like you, so please get out of the car,” She said firmly, pressing the door handle. Her resolve should make the audience feel her need for control and independence.

The driver, startled, slammed on the brakes, bringing the car to a halt.

“Get out,” she said coldly. She was determined to make Bai Moyu leave. Remembering Bai Hui’s sarcastic remarks, she became angry. Since she had no intention of having any relationship with Bai Moyu, why should she bear such a false reputation?

Bai Moyu sighed helplessly and said softly, “Wanqiu, take care of yourself. I’m leaving.”

“Miss, which hospital should I take you to?”

Zhong Wanqiu watched the scenery passing by outside the window and replied quietly, “T University.” It was just a minor injury; she really didn’t want to go to the hospital. She was short on money now, and no matter what, she had to find a way to repay Jin Ruoxue the fifty thousand that Liang Shuzhen had taken, even if she had to sell her blood to do it.

She had her evening tutoring job to attend, and then she needed to find another job that fit around her class schedule.

The driver glanced at her. “Miss, how can you not go to the hospital with that leg injury? Let me take you there.”

“No, thank you.” Even a stranger was better than Leng Muxun. That man had hit her without apologizing and even accused her of trying to seduce him. Just thinking about it made her furious.

“Miss, it’s normal for couples to argue. Your boyfriend seemed really worried about you. Even after I drove off, he was still watching the car.”

She knew. For four years, Bai Moyu had been pursuing her.

She shook her head. “I don’t like him.”

“Oh.” Her despondent tone made the driver fall silent, and he drove her to T University.

After getting out of the car, Zhong Wanqiu hobbled toward the dormitory. Her leg had stopped bleeding, so she figured it wasn’t serious. Ignoring the stares around her, she decided to let people say whatever they wanted; she would act as if she didn’t notice. She would live her life, and others could talk as they pleased.

Ahead was the shaded path leading to the dormitory. In the past, she had walked this path countless times with Xia Jingxuan. It was filled with numerous beautiful dreams, but now those dreams were shattered. That man no longer belonged to her.

They had broken up, and he actually had the nerve to give her what he called a “breakup fee,” probably just to ensure she wouldn’t bother him again.

Pain shot through her leg again, and she couldn’t bear it. Sitting on the grassy roadside, her discomfort should make the audience feel her physical vulnerability and hardship.
