SC Chapter59

Epilogue

When Shen Guan woke up, Xiao Ning was already sitting beside him.

“Young Master…” Shen Guan’s voice was slightly hoarse. When he clearly saw Xiao Ning, he sat up abruptly and said in alarm, “What happened to this…”

“Shh.” Xiao Ning whispered, “The baby is asleep.”

Shen Guan’s heart tightened. He grabbed Xiao Ning’s hand and slowly stroked his face with his fingers. His heart ached, while tears were about to fall: “How did you get so many injuries?”

Xiao Ning held Shen Guan’s slightly cool hand back, pressed it to his lips, and gently kissed it: “It’s nothing. Old Zhou already checked it, and I’ll be fine after resting for a while.” He had brought the pills Jiang Lingxin gave him back for Old Zhou to inspect. After Old Zhou examined them, he shoved them all into his mouth without a word. They were quite effective; after several hours of breathing adjustment, the burning pain in his lungs and internal organs was significantly reduced.

Seeing that he refused to explain, Shen Guan became anxious and reached out to pull open his collar to check his injuries, but Xiao Ning held his hand down.

“Ah Yun, don’t worry.” Xiao Ning coughed lightly twice, his face pale, but his eyes were gentler than usual: “The jade you gave me was broken.”

Shen Guan was stunned and said, “If it’s broken, then so be it.”

Xiao Ning nodded and said, “Ah Yun, from now on, I will protect you and the children.”

Shen Guan stared at him blankly, the corners of his eyes gradually reddening. After a long while, he softly said, “Alright.”

Xiao Ning embraced Shen Guan. As he slowly leaned down to kiss those moist eyes, the little girl’s cry suddenly came from the cradle beside them. Xiao Ning had to release Shen Guan and bent down to pick up the little girl.

“What’s wrong with the child?” Shen Guan reached out to take her.

Xiao Ning pondered for a moment and said, “Perhaps… she’s hungry?”

Shen Guan looked at Xiao Ning in confusion.

Xiao Ning hooked a fingertip and unfastened Shen Guan’s collar, saying, “Dear Ah Yun, don’t let her cry anymore…”

The snow-white garment immediately slipped from Shen Guan’s shoulders down to the crook of his arm. In the dim night, he heard his Young Master whisper next to his ear, “Come, let her go first.”
