PCMWF Chapter 42

The Daddies' Surprise Gift

Su Youli hadn’t seen his little Daddy in a very long time. After confirming that his little Daddy’s legs didn’t hurt anymore, he clung tightly to his neck, affectionately rubbing his little head against Su Siwen’s shoulder. Shen Yan lagged behind. He had come fully disguised today, so his presence was very low-key.

Because he hadn’t been involved in finding Youyou, he had never met Su Youli’s two adoptive fathers. When he first saw Youyou, his heart had immediately raced from the sheer adorableness of the little guy. The remaining feeling was immense respect for the two adoptive fathers who had raised Youyou so well for over three years. They were different from what he had imagined. Su Siwen and Qin Kun weren’t very old; both seemed under thirty.

The young man holding the little one wore a simple short-sleeved white shirt. He had delicate features and gentle eyes. When he spoke to the little one, his voice was soft, clearly that of a very good-natured person. The tall man walking behind him had a ruggedly handsome face: thick eyebrows, big eyes, a short buzz cut, and healthy wheat-colored skin. He pushed a carry-on suitcase with one hand and carried a denim tote bag.

They were completely different types of men, yet standing together, they looked remarkably harmonious. It was the unspoken understanding they had developed over the years of being together.

“Kunkun, hold~” When the little one saw his other father approaching, he immediately reached out his arms and acted spoiled.

The man laughed, placed the tote bag on top of the suitcase, and with a “heave-ho,” tossed the little one up into the air.

“Let Dad see if you’ve gained weight.”

Su Youli hadn’t played like this with Qin Kun in a long time. As his little body was airborne, he sucked in his breath, a bit nervous, but the next moment, Qin Kun caught him steadily. Shen Minyan’s heart nearly jumped out of his chest watching Qin Kun toss his son. He instinctively stepped forward a few paces, opening his arms protectively beside Su Youli.

After Qin Kun, Su Siwen, and the little one had finished their affectionate reunion, everyone came forward one by one to greet them. As the group turned to head back to the car, Su Siwen stopped them.

“We brought a gift for Youyou.”

What gift could it be that needed to be given now?

Su Youli clapped his hands excitedly. “I brought gifts for Daddies, too! Brother Xiao Tang!”

Tang Dou handed the little one his backpack. Su Youli unzipped it and took out the boxed blueberry tarts.

“Daddy, a gift,” the little one said, presenting it with both hands.

Qin Kun was the first to play along, pretending to be very surprised. “How did Youyou know that Dad wanted to eat tarts?” He opened the box, took one out, popped it into his mouth, and chewed while making sounds of appreciation.

His daddies liked his gifts. Su Youli was overjoyed and quickly took out all the other gifts from his backpack. Shen Lin even saw the small crayons he had bought for the little one a few days ago. The little one wasn’t picky about the gifts he gave to his daddies. If he thought something was good, he wanted to give it to them.

Su Youli’s thoughtfulness made Su Siwen and Qin Kun feel that their earlier worries had been unnecessary. The little one hadn’t forgotten them because of the time and distance apart. He was just like when they had all lived together.

“Youyou, go with your brother to wait in the car for a bit, okay? Kunkun and I will go get your gift for you now.”

It must be a very, very big gift if little Daddy couldn’t carry it alone. The little one obediently let Shen Lin carry him into the car, pressing his hands against the window as he watched his two fathers walk away. Su Yuanzi was taken out of the oxygen cabin by the staff.

Having arrived in a new environment and been kept in a cage during the flight, the little dog was bursting with pent-up energy. As soon as he was out of the oxygen cabin, he started barking nonstop. Qin Kun and Su Siwen took the cage and exchanged a glance when they heard the little dog’s energetic barks.

“You’re going to see Youyou soon. Behave, you hear?” Qin Kun crouched in front of the cage, carefully checking that Yuanzi wasn’t showing signs of stress, and gave him a serious warning.

The two of them were going abroad for medical treatment. They didn’t feel right leaving Yuanzi alone to guard the house. With Shen Minyan’s permission, Su Siwen and Qin Kun decided to bring Su Yuanzi to Beicheng. As if understanding his owner’s words, Yuanzi obediently lay down in the cage, panting with his tongue out.

When the two of them reached the car, Su Youli, who had been looking out the window, widened his eyes and shouted happily, “Yuanzi!”

So the gift his daddies had given him was Yuanzi. Compared to Su Youli’s excitement, Su Siwen and Qin Kun hesitated when they saw the luxurious car. Even though they had Shen Minyan’s permission to bring Yuanzi, the car was so nice that they felt bad about putting Su Yuanzi inside.

Su Youli reached out his finger and hooked it toward Yuanzi’s paw in the cage. “Yuanzi, I missed you so much~”

Sensing their hesitation, Shen Yan stepped forward with his long legs, took the dog cage, and carefully placed it in the car.

“Uncle Qin, Uncle Su, get in quickly,” Shen Lin welcomed them warmly.

No one in the car showed any sign of displeasure or disgust. Su Siwen breathed a sigh of relief. They got in the car. Shen Yan poked Shen Lin’s shoulder from behind, and Shen Lin obediently placed the little one on Qin Kun’s lap. Qin Kun smiled at him, knowing that Shen Lin was giving them more time with Youyou.

“Thank you, Xiao Lin,” Su Siwen said with a smile.

Shen Lin scratched his head, a bit embarrassed, and moved to the back, leaving the front space for them. The car soon arrived at the Shen family’s villa complex. Su Siwen and Qin Kun had mentally prepared themselves before coming. Without Youyou, they would never have had any connection with the kind of wealthy, high-profile family that appeared in news reports.

What greeted them was a very upscale, elegant villa complex, with lakes and extensive greenery covering nearly two-thirds of the land. Shen Lin pointed out the various estates and villas outside, introducing them. Su Siwen looked down at the little one sitting quietly beside him. He had been a bit worried before.

But having seen with his own eyes today that the Shen family was not arrogant and was polite even to people from a small place like them, he felt reassured. Youyou would grow up happy and healthy here. He would simply be a little boy doted on by his family. To show their respect, Shen Minyan had arranged for the villa next to the main one to be prepared for them to stay in.

“That’s not necessary, Shen Ge. We’re just here to see Youyou. Staying in a hotel is fine,” Qin Kun declined.

Su Siwen nodded in agreement. Although the one million yuan was a loan that Shen Minyan had taken the initiative to offer, after Qin Kun estimated the cost of going abroad for surgery, they had indeed accepted it. They already felt a bit embarrassed about that. Now staying at the Shen residence as well; that wouldn’t be right.

Back at the villa, Shen Yan had already removed his mask and sunglasses. Su Siwen’s gaze fell on his face, which seemed familiar. After thinking for a moment, he remembered that this was the eldest Shen son, Shen Yan, who had won Best Actor after the Spring Festival. He had even taken a commission from Shen Yan’s fans before, drawing an illustration for them.
