WRR – Chapter 56

Xu Shi did a quick mental calculation and realized Yu Lingshan’s period was over.

Thinking of this, she nearly laughed out loud in the car.

When she arrived at Yu Lingshan’s place, Xu Shi opened the door and went inside. The first thing she saw was a long shadow cast before the living room’s floor-to-ceiling window, and then the person standing in front of it.

Yu Lingshan had also heard the sound at the door. She turned her head, smiled at Xu Shi, and pointed downstairs. “I saw you walk in.”

Xu Shi closed the door and asked Yu Lingshan, “What are you drinking?”

Yu Lingshan lifted the cup in her hand slightly. “Water. Do you want some?”

Xu Shi: “No, thanks.”

By the time she said this, Xu Shi had already walked into the living room.

Although they were less than two kilometers apart, not seeing each other for three days had stretched their longing into something that felt like a long-distance relationship.

So, the moment Xu Shi walked up to Yu Lingshan, Yu Lingshan opened her arms.

As Xu Shi approached, Yu Lingshan looked like she was about to cling to her for a hug. Xu Shi tilted her body to the side, first taking the cup from Yu Lingshan’s hand and placing it on the table.

The move successfully earned Xu Shi a cold glare from Yu Lingshan.

Xu Shi laughed and immediately wrapped her arms around Yu Lingshan.

The moment the person leaned against her, a sound like someone refusing to get out of bed escaped her lips, and she nuzzled her face against Xu Shi.

“What did you make for me to eat?” Yu Lingshan asked.

Xu Shi: “How did you know I made you something to eat?”

Yu Lingshan: “The bag you’re carrying is for clothes.”

Xu Shi: “Wow, so clever.”

Yu Lingshan bit Xu Shi playfully.

Xu Shi laughed. “A sandwich and some soy milk.”

Yu Lingshan hummed in acknowledgment. “So sleepy.”

Xu Shi laughed. “Why are you sleepy every day?”

Yu Lingshan: “You revise drafts until the early morning every day. Aren’t you sleepy?”

“I am,” Xu Shi said, patting Yu Lingshan’s head. “I’ll help you curse out your client.”

Yu Lingshan chuckled. “No need, I’ve already done it.”

For a while, Yu Lingshan’s hands just rested on Xu Shi’s shoulders without any other movement. She was completely listless, her state a stark contrast to the message she had sent on WeChat; she showed no hint of that intention at all.

But Xu Shi was too embarrassed to bring it up.

Yu Lingshan truly loved to do this kind of thing—dangle a piece of bait, leaving you hanging. She wouldn’t let you eat it or even look at it, only letting you think about it.

After they finished talking, Yu Lingshan fell still again. If not for her weight still leaning on her, Xu Shi would have thought she had fallen asleep.

“That sleepy, huh?” Xu Shi shrugged the shoulder Yu Lingshan was leaning on.

Yu Lingshan: “Mhm.”

Xu Shi said, “Let’s have breakfast first.”

Yu Lingshan tilted her head to the side and met Xu Shi’s gaze. “First?” Her eyes curved into crescents. “And after ‘first’?”

How could Xu Shi not understand what this young lady meant?

But she didn’t say it.

Xu Shi: “After ‘first,’ we’ll go to sleep.”

Yu Lingshan: “Mmm~ Really?”

Xu Shi couldn’t help but laugh. “Just kidding. Oh, come on, hurry up and eat your breakfast. The sandwich will get soggy if it sits too long.”

Yu Lingshan kept looking at Xu Shi in the same way.

Then she said, “How about…”

Xu Shi swallowed.

Yu Lingshan finished, “…we just have breakfast first.”

Xu Shi: “…”

She knew it.

The sandwich and soy milk were still warm. At the dining table, as Xu Shi set things out, Yu Lingshan propped her head on her hand and watched her.

As she pushed the soy milk over, Xu Shi said, “Ying Jie posted on Weibo, you know about that, right?”

As expected, Yu Lingshan said, “I know.”

Xu Shi: “She called me this morning.”

Yu Lingshan laughed. “She still has the nerve to call.”

Xu Shi also laughed. “She said something about not contacting each other again in the future. I cursed at her a couple of times and hung up.”

“Good,” Yu Lingshan said. “Don’t reply on Weibo either. Just ignore her.”

Xu Shi nodded. “I know.”

“I even swore,” Xu Shi bit her tongue. “Right after I swore, I turned around and saw my mom.”

“Ahem,” Yu Lingshan nearly spat out a mouthful of soy milk. “What was her reaction?”

Xu Shi said helplessly, “Very surprised.”

Yu Lingshan nodded. “I was also very surprised the first time I heard you swear.”

After a moment, Xu Shi asked, “You were behind this, weren’t you?”

Yu Lingshan admitted it directly. “Yeah.”

Xu Shi: “You really didn’t have to.”

“Who would be willing to let it go? I certainly wasn’t,” Yu Lingshan said, picking up her sandwich. “Actually, Teacher Wu also had a hand in it.”

Xu Shi: “Teacher Wu?”

Yu Lingshan nodded. “The design institute and my studio had a collaboration before. We’re just wrapping up the final parts now. As it happens, the contract for that final part originally named a designer from Ying Shide’s company, but it hadn’t been signed yet. When we met a few days ago, we mentioned the matter between you and Ying Jie. An apology letter versus his designer’s future—he knows how to weigh the pros and cons.”

Xu Shi: “You make it sound so simple.”

Yu Lingshan shrugged. “It was a simple matter to begin with.” She smiled. “Can you not look like you owe me three to five million?”

“I don’t.” Xu Shi touched her face. “I don’t. You’re talking nonsense.”

For some reason, Xu Shi’s reaction amused Yu Lingshan.

She continued, “Ying Shide is probably completely disappointed in Ying Jie now. He likely had someone else write that apology letter.”

Xu Shi felt incredibly grateful. She took Yu Lingshan’s hand and rubbed it against her own cheek. “Thank you.”

Yu Lingshan pulled her hand back. “You’re welcome, little one.”

Yu Lingshan took another bite of her sandwich. “Are you free tonight?”

Xu Shi nodded. “I am.”

Yu Lingshan: “Come with me to Teacher Wu’s house.”

Xu Shi: “Ah, huh?”

Yu Lingshan: “He already spoke up for you in front of me, so the normal procedure is that I tell you, and you should thank him.”

Xu Shi let out a long “Oh.” “Right, that makes sense.” She asked, “So, do I need to prepare anything?”

Yu Lingshan: “Prepare a cushion. After dinner tonight, just kneel before him and tell him, ‘Don’t be ungrateful. Hurry up and take me as your apprentice. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. There’s a line of people waiting for me that stretches all the way to France.’”

Xu Shi gave a dry laugh. “I’d rather not.”

Yu Lingshan laughed at Xu Shi’s reaction. “Getting nervous already?”

Xu Shi: “A little.”

Yu Lingshan sighed. “I should have told you after it was all done. We can’t let this affect our fierce top’s performance.”

Xu Shi: “It won’t. It won’t affect anything.”

For some reason, that sentence was hilarious to Yu Lingshan. She burst out laughing and couldn’t stop.

Then, her tone shifted. She wiped her hands and said, “I dreamed about you this morning while I was sleeping.”

It wasn’t that Xu Shi had a dirty mind, but when Yu Lingshan said something like that at a time like this, she naturally assumed it was that kind of dream.

Of course, she couldn’t say it out loud, or she’d be laughed to death.

So, Xu Shi asked feignedly, “What did you dream about me?”

Yu Lingshan tilted her head, looking at Xu Shi with a half-smile.

Xu Shi instantly couldn’t hold back her laughter.

Yu Lingshan started teasing her. “Ah~ Why are you laughing? What are you thinking about?”

Xu Shi coughed. “Nothing.”

Yu Lingshan frowned. “No way, little Xu Zhi. You don’t think I had that kind of dream, do you?”

Xu Shi calmed herself. “No.”

“No?”

Xu Shi said firmly, “No.”

Yu Lingshan’s smile deepened. “Did I say what kind of dream it was? What are you denying?”

Xu Shi burst out laughing again, raising her hands to cover her face. “Help me, Yu Lingshan, just give me a break.”

Yu Lingshan: “Put your hands down.”

Xu Shi lowered her hands, revealing her already flushed face.

Yu Lingshan laughed out loud.

Yu Lingshan: “Alright, I did dream about that.”

Xu Shi licked her lips.

Yu Lingshan: “That’s why I really wanted it when I first woke up.”

Xu Shi pressed her lips together, her heart beginning to pound.

Yu Lingshan: “But I seem to have calmed down now.”

Xu Shi paused.

Yu Lingshan: “So let’s go to the supermarket in a bit. You can make me something delicious for lunch. I’m craving lamb chops.”

Xu Shi’s smile gradually faded, and a slow “Huh?” escaped her throat.

Yu Lingshan laughed out loud again.

Xu Shi looked aggrieved. If she had long ears on her head, they would be drooping by now. If she had a tail, it would be hanging down to the floor.

“How can you be so cute?” After saying this, Yu Lingshan tossed her wet wipe into the trash can and went back to her room, adding, “I’m going to change.”

I…

Going to change…

Xu Shi propped her head on her hands, leaning dejectedly against the table. She even thought to herself, Maybe I should just be forceful later.

How could she do this?

A short while later, Xu Shi’s phone buzzed. She took it out and saw a message from Yu Lingshan.

Fairy Wife: Come in

Xu Shi tilted her head, seeming to understand instantly.

A few seconds later, she opened the door to Yu Lingshan’s room. It was pitch-black inside. The moment she poked her head in, her wrist was grabbed.

Yu Lingshan pulled her straight inside.

“Is the little one angry?” Yu Lingshan asked, looking into Xu Shi’s eyes.

The little one was indeed a bit unhappy, but that didn’t matter anymore.

No one but Xu Shi knew what Yu Lingshan was wearing right now.

Oh my god!

With her hands behind her back, Yu Lingshan took a step toward Xu Shi and extended an invitation. “I’ve served myself up on a platter, aren’t you going to kiss me…”

Yu Lingshan’s last word was devoured by Xu Shi.

She pressed down on the back of Yu Lingshan’s head and wrapped an arm around her waist.

Having been teased all morning, Xu Shi was starving for her. She took small breaths and savored the taste in small bites.

It was hard to tell who was leading whom in their kiss. Sometimes it was like a fight, other times like a meeting—a push and pull, you advance and I retreat.

Eventually, Xu Shi was no longer satisfied with just being by the door. She picked Yu Lingshan up and placed her on the bed.

Yu Lingshan was incredibly pliant, and in this state, her words were soft whimpers. Xu Shi loved it so much. She herself was still wearing some clothes.

Xu Shi could only repay her with her own kisses, burying her head deep.

That tongue that could tie a cherry stem into a knot, along with her newly learned skills, were all given to Yu Lingshan without reservation.

Yu Lingshan’s reaction was intense; once was nowhere near enough. So, right after, Xu Shi pulled Yu Lingshan in for another round.

The air conditioner’s cool air couldn’t lower the constantly rising heat between them. By the end, Yu Lingshan’s voice had changed from all the crying out, turning into soft sobs.

Afterward, Xu Shi held Yu Lingshan in her arms and pulled up the blanket that had fallen to the floor.

Yu Lingshan lay with her eyes closed, completely still.

Xu Shi tucked the blanket in and touched Yu Lingshan’s eyes. She didn’t move. She touched her hair. She didn’t move. She touched her ear. She didn’t move.

Xu Shi asked in a low voice, “Are you asleep?”

A hum emerged from deep in Yu Lingshan’s throat, indicating she was still awake.

Xu Shi: “Sleepy or tired?”

Yu Lingshan slowly lifted her eyelids, then slowly closed them again, her lips forming the words: “Fierce top.”

Xu Shi suddenly laughed. “What?”

Yu Lingshan was too tired to even move a finger. “I’m dead.”
