Chapter 21

Let's Go Home

That domineering attitude disgusted Zhong Wanqiu in particular. “Hey, get away from me. Stop following me.” She was utterly exhausted after walking all night, and her fatigue made her feel vulnerable, which should make readers feel concern for her. All she wanted now was to return to her dormitory, collapse on her bed, and sleep like there was no tomorrow. She was so drowsy.

“Get in the car,” he insisted, making it clear he wouldn’t leave unless she complied.

Had this man waited outside the bar all night to force her into his vehicle?

Remembering the fiasco of losing her virginity, she was terrified of getting entangled with him again.

Unable to confront him or escape, Zhong Wanqiu quickly felt helpless. For a moment, she genuinely wanted to rush forward and slap him across the face.

If she hadn’t repeatedly reminded herself that “impulse is the devil,” she might have actually done it.

She continued trudging unsteadily along the pedestrian crossing, staying as far away from him as possible by keeping to the innermost side. Just as she was lamenting having to walk all the way back to school tonight, someone suddenly scooped her up horizontally and swiftly deposited her into the passenger seat of that black BMW.

*Click…* Leng Muxun even fastened her seatbelt for her.

Her nerves stretched taut, she stared distantly at him, sensing something unsettling beneath his calm exterior. “Mr. Leng, are you kidnapping me?” she asked, her voice trembling slightly, unsure whether to fear or hope for an explanation.

He remained silent, completely ignoring her furious, murderous glare. Gradually starting the car, he accelerated rapidly. The direction they were heading made it impossible for her to guess where he was taking her. “Hey, Leng Muxun, what exactly do you want?”

“Shut up,” he growled, clearly not in a good mood either.

How could this be? He kidnaps her and won’t even let her protest?

She reached out to grab the steering wheel. “Stop the car. I want to get out.”

The vehicle swerved momentarily, but he quickly stabilized it. “Zhong Wanqiu, do you have a death wish?”

“Yes, but only if you stop the car and let me out.”

“Fine, then we’ll die together.”

She thought he was joking, but what happened next terrified Zhong Wanqiu. Leng Muxun began weaving the car in sharp S-curves at extreme speeds. Forgetting her demand to get out, she could only scream. Fortunately, it was late at night with sparse traffic, only an occasional vehicle passing by; otherwise, she felt certain she would have died, scared to death by him.

“Ah… Ah…” That terrifying thrill was beyond comparison and hard to describe. If he kept driving like this, she would surely go insane.

But after turning a corner, Leng Muxun returned to everyday driving. The car maintained a steady speed as soft, soothing music began playing. He drove cheerfully, completely disregarding her silent protests. She was utterly terrified; even with the air conditioning on, she was drenched in sweat.

“Here.” A checkered men’s handkerchief imbued with a faint fragrance was handed to her.

She instinctively took it, her body sticky and unbearably uncomfortable.

While wiping her sweat, she realized the car had stopped. The gate of the residential complex ahead was slowly opening, causing her to panic. “Where is this?”

“To my apartment,” he stated briefly, paying no heed to her alarm.

The car quickly drove into this luxurious residential area. When it stopped in the parking lot, Leng Muxun, a gentleman, opened the car door for her and unfastened her seatbelt, which she was still dazed. “Let’s go, we’re going home.”

The phrase “we’re going home” sounded so natural, as if the place they were heading to now was truly their shared home. Hearing the word “home,” warmth spread through her heart, and she suddenly felt a surge of hope and longing. How long had it been since she last knew that feeling? A flicker of vulnerability crossed her mind, making her wonder if this moment could change everything.

She had never had a home.
