This business trip of Zhang Shun’s had been personally assigned by Shen Minyan, tasking him with taking care of Qin Kun and Su Siwen’s daily needs. His work abilities were no joke. That very day, he and Qin Kun rented a house for them to live in while in Country D — a small European-style building in a quiet, scenic area.
The first phase of problems was basically solved. Qin Kun’s daily routine was just going back and forth between the rental and the hospital. Life was full and busy. One day, Zhang Shun cheerfully pushed open the hospital room door, wiped the sweat from his brow, and gave them some good news.
“Remember that rare disease special assistance fund I helped you apply for? It’s been approved. You don’t have to worry about the medical bills anymore. You probably won’t even need to use that money Chairman Shen lent you…”
To be honest, Zhang Shun’s explanation was full of holes, and he wasn’t good at lying either. Qin Kun and Su Siwen exchanged a single glance and understood. The Shen family had helped them behind the scenes again. No matter what, they had truly felt during this time that the Shen family genuinely cared about them. It wasn’t just a matter of giving them money to cut ties with Youyou.
The family had done so much behind the scenes, time and again. If they didn’t appreciate it, they would be utterly ungrateful. After Zhang Shun left the hospital, thinking his acting had fooled them, he felt light and carefree. Su Siwen and Qin Kun discussed it. They were still young. They could definitely pay back the money they owed the Shen family once they were well.
Half a month after arriving in Country D, Su Siwen underwent his first surgery. Country D was internationally renowned for its orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation techniques. The incision from the first surgery wasn’t large. Su Siwen was already able to get out of bed and walk slowly. When he got tired, Qin Kun would push his wheelchair along the hospital’s walking paths. Su Siwen lifted his pant leg and breathed a huge sigh of relief when he saw the light pink scar.
“I was worried the scar would be big. If it left a mark, Youyou would definitely cry when he saw it.”
Mentioning their son made both of them smile. The treatment process was actually going quite smoothly. Especially after a month, when Zhang Shun brought over two hardworking young people to introduce to them. They were apparently sent by Youyou’s biological mother’s side. With more hands, Qin Kun didn’t even have to cook anymore. He just spent his days accompanying Su Siwen to rehab, and when they had free time, they studied the local language and watched the variety show. After briefly updating Shen Yan on their situation, Qin Kun hung up.

As the substitute parent and a first-time participant in this kind of show, Shen Minyan was clearly a bit nervous.
“Dad, Youyou will take care of you.”
The little guy finished his porridge in small sips, wiped his mouth clean, and said to his father, who was sitting across from him unable to eat. Shen Minyan was speechless. He had seen all kinds of big scenes before. It’s just… it’s just that aside from sleeping, he and Youyou had almost never spent time alone together. The little guy was so small. He was genuinely afraid he wouldn’t be able to take good care of him.
Shen Lin came clattering down the stairs, yelling, “I’m gonna be late, I’m gonna be late!”
The teenager walked to the dining table, picked up a bowl of porridge, tipped his head back, and downed it in one gulp. He grabbed a napkin to wipe his mouth, gave the little guy a loud kiss on the cheek, and then ran off with a dramatic yell. The little guy, stunned by his second brother’s series of actions, sat with his mouth hanging open. Second Brother’s mouth is so big!
“Oh, right, Dad! Mom said you’re supposed to take Youyou to the mall today to buy him a swimsuit—”
The teenager’s piercing voice echoed through the living room. Shen Minyan’s fists clenched. Could this brat not behave for just one day? When the little guy heard the word “mall,” his eyes went wide, and he excitedly pursed his little lips. “Dad, the mall!”
Shen Minyan nodded. “Hurry up and eat. After you’re done, Dad will take you to the mall.”
Woo-hoo~
What kid doesn’t love going to the mall? The little guy sped up his eating, his spoon clinking against the bowl. After breakfast, the little guy went back to his room, grabbed his little backpack, and put it on. Holding Brother Xiao Tang’s hand, he bounced down the stairs. Half an hour earlier, Shen Minyan had been thinking it over and had decided to rent out the entire mall so the little guy could shop without any worries.
Su Yuanzi followed his little master all the way to the door. The little guy crouched down and patted the dog’s head. “Yuanzi, be good and wait for me at home, okay?”
“Woof woof woof—”
When Shen Minyan was around, the little guy never had to walk on his own two feet. He was carried the whole time. The little guy was clearly used to it. He sat obediently in his father’s strong arms. When the car reached the villa complex’s security gate, the road ahead was blocked by a black car. They were neighbors, so Shen Minyan recognized it as the Pei family’s car.
Something was happening up ahead. Pei Yi and Hua Zhao were both standing by the car, their expressions grim. The driver got out to check the situation. In front of the black car sat a woman close to fifty. She was dressed plainly, and the driver had seen her before — she was the Pei family’s former nanny. As soon as the little guy heard it had to do with Brother Qiqi’s family, he stretched his neck forward from his child seat as far as he could.
Pei Yi was a talkative guy who loved to drop by the neighbors’ for tea. Shen Minyan had already heard him complain about this nanny, who had the audacity to verbally put down Pei Xu behind his back at least three times.
“Dad, it’s Uncle Pei and Aunt Hua.”
Shen Minyan patted his head. “Dad’s going to go help. How about Youyou stays in the car and plays with Brother Xiao Tang?”
The little guy obediently said, “Mm,” and watched his dad open the door and get out.
“Mr. Pei, please let me go! I have elderly parents and young children to support. My son isn’t even married yet…”
The woman couldn’t be called old at all. Her hair was still jet black, and she looked perfectly healthy. Right now, she was sitting boldly on the ground, crying and wailing for Pei Yi to let her off. When a few security guards came to pull her away, she stuck out her chest and acted like a hooligan, pressing herself against them and accusing them of harassment. This kind of shameless behavior left Pei Yi and Hua Zhao stunned.
“What’s going on?”
Pei Yi turned his head and was met with a face of deep, sharp features.
“Brother Shen, you guys are heading out, right? I’m sorry, I…”
“Youyou is in the car. Why don’t you bring Qiqi over to sit with him?”
As he walked over, he noticed Pei Qiqi sitting in his child seat as well, the little face frowning as he looked out the window. Hua Zhao nodded and said thank you, then went back to her car, picked up Qiqi, and carried him to the car behind. Of course, the two little ones were thrilled to be together. With Brother Xiao Tang’s distraction techniques, the two little ones quickly huddled together over a tablet, playing a two-player cooking game.
Not far away, the middle-aged woman was still sprawled on the ground, frantically trying to persuade the security guards, who were about to resort to using their weapons. The nanny had originally planned to make a scene at the Pei family’s doorstep. Not only had she been fired for no reason, but the severance pay had suddenly been revoked, and the agency had removed her profile from their platform.
That meant the agency would never provide her with work again. She thought she could just switch agencies. But after contacting several other agencies that specialized in high-end nanny services for wealthy families, they all said they wouldn’t hire her the moment they heard her name. She belatedly realized she had been blacklisted by the domestic worker agencies and had completely lost her chance to work in the industry.
