PCMWF Chapter 98

The Police Arrive

Su Youli was getting sleepy from playing. He raised his hand to rub his eyes, but Pei Qiqi caught it.

“Brother Qiqi,” the little guy said with a yawn.

Pei Qiqi patted his back, and the little guy fell asleep in no time. After he was asleep, Pei Qiqi got down from his seat and wanted to get out of the car to see his uncle and aunt.

“Qiqi, why don’t you stay in the car with Youyou?” Tang Dou stopped him.

Pei Qiqi looked at the little guy, whose cheeks were rosy from sleep, then through the car window at his uncle’s back. Pei Xu was aware of what his uncle and aunt were doing about the nanny. The nanny had been very careful and knew the blind spots of the Pei family’s surveillance cameras. She wouldn’t dare do anything physical to Pei Qiqi.

But she had indeed said some very nasty things and had treated Pei Qiqi quite poorly when the adults weren’t around. When Hua Zhao found out how Qiqi had been treated, she immediately called the agency to demand compensation and an apology from the nanny. Pei Yi wasn’t satisfied with that kind of punishment. He was someone who always got revenge. Anyone who bullied Qiqi would pay the price.

He filed a police report right away, explaining the situation. But the evidence he had was insufficient for the police to file a case. The surveillance hadn’t captured any footage of the nanny physically harming Qiqi. A few days passed with no results. Pei Yi had gone to the police station himself yesterday afternoon, leaving Hua Zhao at home with Qiqi.

When he heard the police analyze that the case would likely be dropped, Pei Yi was deeply unsatisfied. That was when Hua Zhao called. When he answered, it was little Qiqi’s childish voice on the other end. The young boy, calm and composed, said seriously to the police officer, “Officer uncle, I can be a witness. The nanny really did scold me…”

With witness testimony and Pei Yi also hiring a specialized lawyer, combined with evidence from the surveillance footage, it was shown that the nanny’s behavior had indeed violated Pei Xu’s lawful rights. Pei Yi could absolutely demand that the nanny bear civil liability. Pei Yi felt satisfied. However, what he didn’t expect was that before the police even contacted the nanny, she showed up at their doorstep the very next day. Now that Qiqi was with Youyou and being looked after by Brother Xiao Tang, Hua Zhao had no more worries. She transformed into a furious parent.

“Are you going to get up or not? If you don’t, don’t blame me for using force.” Hua Zhao took a security baton from one of the guards.

The woman on the ground looked unfazed. In fact, she seemed excited when she saw Hua Zhao pull out a weapon. She immediately pulled out her phone to start recording. She’d post it online, and netizens would see an older woman like her lying on the ground, surrounded by so many people, and definitely sympathize with her.
She didn’t care if people laughed at her. She knew Hua Zhao was a model and Pei Yi was a fairly well-known designer. The barefoot don’t fear those who wear shoes. They were the ones who should be afraid.

Thinking this, the nanny crossed her arms. “Go ahead! If you’ve got the guts, hit me! Hit me right here! I’m just here to get my wages today…”

Shen Minyan, concerned about buying his little son’s gear, had no patience for such a hooligan.
He glanced at his watch, turned around, and dialed 110. Just then, the nanny’s phone rang. She answered it, and her expression instantly changed drastically.

“Impossible! Absolutely impossible! I never abused a child… Evidence? What evidence?”

The woman who had been so confident just moments ago immediately panicked. Without being told, she scrambled up from the ground, holding the phone to her ear, unable to form a coherent sentence. The police had finally called her, requesting that she come to the station for questioning. As a nanny who had long worked for wealthy families, she knew exactly what face meant to these rich people.

Before starting her assignment, she had thoroughly investigated the Pei family situation. Pei Xu was not Pei Yi’s biological son. In her eyes, Pei Yi had only taken in Pei Xu out of obligation to his late brother. All of Pei Yi’s meticulous instructions were just because he had high standards for his help. How much could he really love a child who wasn’t his own? Besides, that child’s personality wasn’t likable. He went around with a sour face all day and had no manners whatsoever.

Only now did she realize she had messed with the wrong people. The woman glared at the two people before her. Pei Yi was petty and vindictive. His wife looked decent but was actually incredibly stingy. After firing her, they gave her a severance package, but a few days later, they got the agency to take it back. Losing her job was bad enough, but why did they have to take her compensation too?

She had been fired without cause. They were the ones who broke the contract. She had come today specifically to make their lives difficult. This villa complex was full of rich people. She wanted to see if the Pei family still had any face left. When the police station called, she was genuinely terrified. She hadn’t expected that despite avoiding all the cameras, she had still slipped up.

There was even witness testimony against her, leaving her with no way to deny it. Her phone clattered to the ground. The nanny’s arrogance was extinguished. She was consumed with regret. Pei Yi just laughed coldly, utterly disdainful of her terrified state.

“Mr. Pei, please don’t sue me! I, I still have kids to support, and my parents are old… I don’t want the compensation anymore…”

Too late. The nanny’s legs truly gave out, and she collapsed to the ground, unable to get up. At the thought of possibly going to prison, she broke out in a cold sweat.

“I never hit him! I only… only…”

Pei Yi crossed his arms and waited for her to continue. The sound of police sirens grew closer and closer.

“Who called the police?” a uniformed officer asked.

Shen Minyan pointed at the ground. “I did. This person is obstructing our right of way. Please take her away.”

The officer looked at the woman sitting on the ground and asked why she was blocking the middle of the road. The nanny couldn’t say a word. Hua Zhao walked over and explained. After learning that this woman was a nanny who had emotionally abused her employer’s child, the two officers warned her to leave immediately, or they would resort to forcible removal.

The nanny was completely stunned and began to wail. “I just said some harsh words to him! And I wasn’t wrong either. Mr. Pei, I apologize! I’ll kowtow to you! My whole family depends on my salary! If I go to prison, what will my family do?!”

She regretted it. She hated herself for not keeping her mouth shut and for getting caught bad-mouthing her employer. Suddenly, a child emerged from the crowd. Pei Xu walked over to his uncle and took his hand. The nanny’s eyes lit up the moment she saw him. She scrambled over on her knees and, without a word, started kowtowing in front of him.

“Qiqi, I was wrong! Please forgive me! I really know I was wrong!”

With her face already bloody, she crawled forward, trying to grab hold of Pei Xu.
